[q] autofocus camera problem htc one x! - HTC One X

Hello guys, i have had my HTC one X for about a week now. I found a camera autofocus problem... The camera doesn't have focus.. i don't know if the camera suppose to be like that or there is a problem. I have tried, in the camera settings, to reset the settings to default. But it didn't help.. when i take a picture of a text you cannot read the text. But I tried to take a picture with the same text with my old HTC Wildfire and you can read the text.. HOW CAN THAT BE?!!?!? 5 MP CAMERA BETTER THAN 8 MP thats not normal But please some body help =D Thx guys =)

Frankly, the pixel count is far less relevant than the optics on a phone.
Having said that, the One X does have a mechanical focus. It's not much good for macro shots, but it should focus from 20cm or so; touching the preview where you want it focused should focus it, you should be able to hear the motor.

I have the same problem, everything is blurry and no matter how much clicking you do, and how much of the "motor" you hear, the camera just does not focus.
My camera is also terrible indoors, do you have this problem?

I dont know if it is only indoors... i haven't tried it outdoors and yes it is the same problem =(

No one helping?

If you are trying to take a closeup or macro picture, just hold the phone for a second or two and it will autofocus and then press and hold the screen and it seems to even focus a little better. Let go of the screen and it takes the picture.
I attached a picture of a page from a magazine showing text in indoor light, no flash, nothing special, just hold for a second to let it autofocus, touch the screen for another second or so let go.
The other pictures were outside the other day when I was messing around to see how it compared to my old S2 and Gnex. Same procedure, no settings changed.
It seems to be excellent outdoors in natural light and does a decent job indoors with marginal light.
Running the ViperX ROM 2.7.1 with the HTC camera.

Personaly. I fixed the macro mod focusing probleme, by focusing on something right behind the thing i Want to shoot.
Most of the time, it do the trick.

Well thats silly, on the advert they whip it out and take photos and they're brilliant, they also jump out of a plane and video it, I can guarantee that if we did that, we'd just see a blur.
I said it was good outdoors, that isnt the issue, its the close ups/indoors photos that suck and the focus doesn't work at all. IMO

I'm telling you that it wont focus. Even if i touch on the screen. But what ever.. I'll send the phone to repair.. Piece of **** -.-' Thx for helping anyways. I tested two phones. My Old HTC Wildfire and my new One X. The Wildfire gets better picture results. My wildfire has 5 MegaPixel Camera. The One X has 8 MegaPixel. Then I wonder of how my old wildfire can have a better camera? But.. The One X is really nice outdoors. But still.. No focus.. It cannot focus on anything. But when i try to take a picture of a text i wanted to send to my friend so he could read it.. But THE TEXT WONT SHOW UP IN THE PICTUUUUUURRRE =(!!!!

Sounds like a hardware fault, get it fixed. My camera focuses fine

Troubles with autofocus since ARHD 15
Sorry to post here, I don't have the 10 first posts yet, so I cannot post in the ARHD thread...
I've:
HTC ONE X 32GB white org. 401 WWE Europe
CID: HTC_102
hboot 1.31
CWM 5.8.4.0 touch recovery
ARHD 16
Autofocus of the cam is not working at all since ARHD 15.
I've tried to:
clear Dalvik cache
clear cache
reset factory defaults by: ARHD settings menue, recovery and in hboot too
reinstall hboot 1.31 completely with the firmware.zip methode
reinstall CWM and ARHD after super wipe.
Autofocus is not working at all, it stucks in narrow focus till up about 3ft distance...
I may post sample pictures...

Hey guys, I don't know if you solved this problem or not but I had the same issue with my HTC Vivid. I re-flashed the firmware and the camera focused perfectly. It was the weirdest thing, I have no idea what the problem was so I took the shotgun approach. Good luck!!

I only mentioned my HTC Vivid in regards to fixing the One X camera focus issue since the reflash procedure is just about the same. Is that not allowed?

No I don't say its not allowed, but its hard to tell if it harms or helps the phone, because they are completely different....like flashing , the dual-core hox and the international hox....both hox but completely different. And they don't make seperare forum sections for devices for a reason.....that's all

Camera Issue

I just recently bought a used black myTouch 3G Slide, and it is in excellent condition. I only have 1 problem though...... My camera isn't working correctly. I have done some searching online, but I have found no solutions. Everyone seems to replace their phone by T-Mobile. Unfortunately I can't do that since I didn't get the warrant from the guy I bought it from. : / In an attempt to fix this problem I loaded a custom ROM. Cyanogen Mod 6 is amazing, but it didn't fix my problem. I even tried downloading FXCamera from the market, but still nothing. Looking around the net it seems XDA is one of the best forums for android users. Can anyone please assist me, or possibly link something that will help me fix this annoying problem?
Btw, hello everyone at XDA! I'm looking forward to learning a lot from this forum!
I myself probably cannot help, but I can be helpful!
From looking around, I think it might help others here if you describe what exactly is going on with the camera.
Is the screen blank? Does it force close? Can you take pictures, but they don't save or maybe they save as black image? What happens?
I hope that there's some sort of fix for you, since I can't help... but I can try to get more insight into the issue from you... and bump the thread so people can see and maybe help out!
When I take a picture it doesn't focus. Pictures up close are really good quality, but anything that is not right in front of the camera is blurry. I have auto focus on, and tried manually focusin but no luck. I hold my hand still, and I hold down the picture button to focus. It still takes crap pictures.

Yeah I didn't see that at first, sorry. Then aside from buying a broken slide off ebay and salvaging the camera from it and manually installing it into your phone, or paying tmobile to repair it, you're out of luck.
I agree with MusicMan374, it sounds like a hardware issue if you have auto focus on or it doesn't respond when you select what item to focus on using the screen (stock rom)

camera - yellow flash and motion blur

My one x seems to give a really bad yellow tint when using the flash in photos.
Any one know of a fix?
Also it has quite bad motion blur. Just taking photos of people, if their arms move and not their head, the arms are completely blurred but their head isn't.
same problem here..yellow tint for close up photos by using flash..good quality without flash..do we need to change any settings? iso/white balance etc. to sort this out.
---------- Post added at 02:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:49 AM ----------
just found a way to overcome this yellow tint issue with flash...reduce the saturations to -1 and the yellow tint has almost disappeared...it is a temporary solution till HTC sorts it out in the next OTA hopefully.
Same problem to, i dont think its software issues. My gf HTC one x has much whiter white.

every time i get this problem, it is cancelled making refocus image... i can't get explanation for why.. but often i solve the problem with this procedure.
sorry for my bad english

same here...
I compared pictures made on my phone with those of my wife's sensation xl and hers camera produces much more life like colored pictures without any noise. I already posted this remarks on HTC official blog, but received no answers for it.
Also I noticed that in reviews of hox, reviewers used HDR function and pictures were perfect as opposed to mine, where people are "ghosts", because they moved when I was taking HDR images and so their legs, arms were duplicated and transparent... weird! This doesn't happen again on my wife's sensation xl. Same camera, completely different results.
I also sent this remarks to HTC support almost a month ago, but received no answer from them.
Hi guys, recently I've noticed the same thing. With flash I get a horrible yellow tint, but without flash the pictures looks awesome. I'm going to email htc and we'll see if I get any usefull info.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD app
Try changing the white balance to florescent when using flash ?
could help, but I suspect you'd get a bluish tint.
Official answer from HTC support about my camera problems:
I apologies that the camera and video recorder are not up to your requirements, the device does have image stabilisation so it should not be having any of these issues, after looking at your camera I can see that it is definitely not working correctly, whether it be a hardware or software issue would be hard for me to diagnose and I would advise performing a factory reset to see if that resolves the issue.
I already contacted them, they replied that their test phone was working fine and they enjoyed taking photos on it, and that I should learn how to use the camera properly or take a few shots to see which comes out best for my usage, lol!

If you look at the comments and answers on the "HTC Camera" app in play store you see HTC said they are releasing a software update soon that is supposed to fix this issue.
Fingers crossed ...
they already push update for USA unlocked devices 1.5 and ppl said problem has been resolved but for MEA still 1.3 !!!

Same issue here. I am on 1.3 and updated camera app (with cleaned cash).
Is software version 1.3 in Europe and middle east is the same like 1.5 ?
Note: 1.3 is only 85 MB 1.4 is about 400 MB.
Should we wait 1.5 for Europe and Middle East?
Can someone confirm that this could not be a hardware issue and I just need to wait the update (1.5).

do u have any idea about 1.5 update for MENA ?
I have the same problem too! HTC 10 unlocked, ATT, using HTC software number 1.53.617.5.
It's almost as if the focus is fixed at a short distance, and everything else is blurry. On a perfectly well-lit day outdoors, the landscape looks all blurry (like how my grandpa would see the world without his glasses!)
This is a terribly disappointing, and I've been on call with them for the last 3 days trying to get a replacement.
Finally the "escalation" department calls me, and here's the list of problems: 1) They do not have replacement units readily available, and it'll be a long wait to get one. What's more they'll still put a full holding charge on my credit card. They recommend option (2) below...
2) They tell me that it's quicker to return the faulty phone, refund the money, and order a new one from the store. Well the store is out of "Carbon Gray" which I currently have, but fine I'll be OK with the silver version too. There's an issue here, I had ordered the HTC10 with the $100 promo off (one of the first people to order right after launch) and of course the promo-code is no longer valid. So I'll have to spend $100 more to get a replacement which has a working camera!! And in the two weeks it takes to send in my faulty phone, place a new order and get it shipped, they expect me to have a spare phone around!
WTF HTC, GET YOUR **** TOGETHER! As one of the first loyal customers, send the damn replacement unit first, and I'll be happy to return the original right after I receive it. I shouldn't be expected to spend $100 more for a faulty phone that you sent in the first place!
I confirm this issue of all HTC 10, auto focus in video mode is disabled., have to touch the screen to focus.
I will send a report to my contact in HTC.

I have the same problem too! How should I resolve this issue? Please help me
Clean the auto focus and it will work
Hi
I have had an HTC 10 stock phone for about 4 months now and in the last month or so the camera autofocus has stopped working for both photos (very noticeable when wanting distance photos which come out blurry) and video. I think this may be update related, but can't be sure. My phone is currently software version 1.95.401.4 (Android 6.0.1).
Anyway I have accidentally found a temporary workaround. If I press and hold down the volume key to put the phone into 'Alarms only' mode the autofocus works!! This doesn't appear to fix the problem long term, but at least allows the taking of a decent photo when required.
If anyone knows why this should be and can offer a permanent fix I would be grateful.

Red Tint on main camera photos in bright sunlight.

Hi folks, had my S20U since Tuesday and been taking some photos recently and noticed in direct sunlight there some weird red hue/tint at the top of my photos using the main camera, paticularly the top left.
Is anyone experiencing this?
Photos attached.
Wondering if I have a faulty module.
Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or just software side.. Try turning of scene optimizer, Bixby, and HDR and take the same picture if possible.

I already have tried that and the same issue remains so it definitely seems hardware related. It's only in very bright/sunlit scenes however.

Yea, same with me. Could be still a software related bug or something. I'll wait for an update or a statement from Samsung. If they cant fix it, it's definetly a hardware related problem and I'll return it and get another device / money back.

Try to shoot 2 pics in bright sunlight. One in normal mode and the other one with 108 megapixels.
Since these are different sensors, maybe the issue only appears with the normal sensor.

Can see that the defect is in the normal mode photo, not the 108mp one. It's also not present in ultra wide, either.
Have you tried replicating also?
Try again, but make sure your fingers are nowhere near the camera. One of my old phones did this and it was my finger being too close to the camera that introduced a red-ish hue to photos in sunlight.

My camera does not focus

Hi all the community, first of all I apologize for my bad English, I wanted to share with you a problem on my redmi note 8 pro, since yesterday I have problems with focusing, it seems like stuck in one place and I cannot focus other, I have the phone for a year and it has never given me such problems, about 4 weeks ago I did a system update but I can assure that the problem was not there, and also the phone did not pick up falls that could explain this malfunction which at this point I think is of the hardware type. I am attaching 3 photos, the first taken with the main camera which is the one that does not focus, then one with the wide angle and a photo with the macro to make you better understand what I mean. If you have any solutions, please write them to me. Thank you in advance.
