Soi imagine a majority of us are on Verizon so anyone now if we buy a phone on our own can we keep unlimited data even if we go to 4g?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I believe you gotta pay full retail price I'm not sure?
Sent from my Goonified Paranoid Jelly Droid Incredible 2
Goon is right, you will have to pay full retail for the phone if you don't want to renew your contract. Contract renewal = limited data.
Also if you have another account with an upgrade you could use that and switch phones. Or acquire the phone via 3rd party and activate it.

So you can go from unlimited 3 g to 4 g right ?

Yes, you can but only if you buy a phone off contract. Meaning you cant buy a new phone from Verizon for $200 and stay on unlimited data. You would either have to buy a new phone retail ($700) or buy a used LTE phone.
Can get cheaper on Craigslist and eBay !

When did you start your contract and if you keep pushing it you can but is a lot calls for it to get you out free in the other hand the price of the GN should be enough to get out of ETF( that's what I did)

i just renewed last month. dam so sell the phone for 300 and that should pay the eft fee.
As has been posted here and all over the web several thousand times, Sprint's 3G data speeds are terrible pretty much nationwide. They have a few markets that are ok, but many aren't

Well you could get closed to 400$ but I would try to see if sprints lets you go without fee

flash a Verizon prl on your phone and consume alot of data and sprint will boot you after a month or two of alot of roaming etf free. Its what I am doing.

I would do that as well. But I have three phones on one account and that means buying all new phones and 2gnexs and an epic 4g won't pay for new phones and contracts. Unfortunately I'll have to deal with it. Until LTE hits me. At least I hope it does.

when you sell your sprint phones when they cancel your service it will more than cover your new phones. You would actually come out ahead a little.

Unlocked gsm nexus might wait until thanksgiving for the new 5 nexus devices
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
this is precisely why i'm leaving Sprint and going to T-Mobile. the 4G Wimax is fast (5000kbps) but none of the newer Sprint phones are using Wimax anymore and Sprint's 3G is crawling at <500kbps. Can't wait to activate my nexus on T-Mobile when my SIM comes in!

The only problem I had with it was on the unlimited everything plan for $50, they booted me when they found out I wasn't using a dumb phone but that was after trying to download a ROM haha. Switching to another European phone put data right back on.

Nah, it's for Sprint. My mother have an upgrade and I do not so I plan on buying the Gs3 from wirefly or some other place unactivated and activate it on my account w/o going through the "flip-flop" fiasco.

I thought that, but when I got my Epic the reps told me if I ever activate a phone too early that wasn't due for an upgrade my account could be cancelled or something.

So someone stole my Verizon galaxy nexus and I have the option to pay a 100$ deductible and get a new one since mine had insurance on it. Should I pay the 100$ a get a new one, then sell it to get a galaxy s3. I have two upgrades available on my account and the guy at the Verizon store said he could let keep my unlimited data if I decide to upgrade. What do you guys think I should do?

The S3 is nice but I just don't like that touchwiz. Have you checked out a S3 in person?
Yea my mom has a s3 she used to have a nexus but she had problems so she got the s3, I will probably end up paying the 100$ for the new nexus then buying her old nexus for 125$ and selling it to make some extra money

Has anyone switched to the framily plan yet? It seems like its just a tactic to get people to give up unlimited data. Whats your opinions.

Last time I was in the Sprint Store (Dec last year) I was flat out told to keep my unlimited re-up every 2yrs plan. They said I had better options. This may have been before the Family but how much data do you share and if everybody has LTE seems like data would go pretty quick

You don't share any individual data for everyone.
Don't you only get 1gb of data on the new family plan?

You don't lose unlimited data. You keep it or you can switch to 1GB for free. Those were the options I got when I switched to the Note 3

Yeah, I switched to it last week, it was only logical since I'm home 99% of the time hehe, didnt need all the extra data/charges
Is framily plan still worth eventho they don't offer us special device price for 2-year upgrade?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
I've been wondering about these new plans. There's some plan where you pay off your phone but doesn't seem you get any break on the plan. Then there's an unlimited everything where the plan is 50 and data 30 but you only get a corporate discount on the plan so I'd pay more. I'm on the 450 minutes talk and unlimited text and data plan right now but I'm weighing up my options. If I switch to smart pay I can upgrade now or just wait till my normal upgrade in November. The M8 looks so good though! lol

Its not really special. There isn't much difference between paying $200 upfront + $400 over two years vs $25x24 months. You can save money if you just buy a nexus once every year ( or two years, heck keep it for 3 snapdragon 800 will still be good in 3 years I think)
