Data speeds on sprint - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Is there any way to increase data speeds on the GN on sprint? I have horrible speeds I'm in Miami and on CM9 nighty here is a screenshot.

Yes, there is: use the phone in the early morning or late at night.

When did you start your contract and if you keep pushing it you can but is a lot calls for it to get you out free in the other hand the price of the GN should be enough to get out of ETF( that's what I did)

i just renewed last month. dam so sell the phone for 300 and that should pay the eft fee.

As has been posted here and all over the web several thousand times, Sprint's 3G data speeds are terrible pretty much nationwide. They have a few markets that are ok, but many aren't

Well you could get closed to 400$ but I would try to see if sprints lets you go without fee

flash a Verizon prl on your phone and consume alot of data and sprint will boot you after a month or two of alot of roaming etf free. Its what I am doing.

I would do that as well. But I have three phones on one account and that means buying all new phones and 2gnexs and an epic 4g won't pay for new phones and contracts. Unfortunately I'll have to deal with it. Until LTE hits me. At least I hope it does.

when you sell your sprint phones when they cancel your service it will more than cover your new phones. You would actually come out ahead a little.

AT&T GoPhone is one of the worst choices for prepaid smartphones.

Unlocked gsm nexus might wait until thanksgiving for the new 5 nexus devices
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

this is precisely why i'm leaving Sprint and going to T-Mobile. the 4G Wimax is fast (5000kbps) but none of the newer Sprint phones are using Wimax anymore and Sprint's 3G is crawling at <500kbps. Can't wait to activate my nexus on T-Mobile when my SIM comes in!

The only problem I had with it was on the unlimited everything plan for $50, they booted me when they found out I wasn't using a dumb phone but that was after trying to download a ROM haha. Switching to another European phone put data right back on.

Hold off til the new nexus comes out. After getting the nexus 7 i will never buy a non nexus device ever again.
$2? I say go for it. Its about the same quality of phone but the nexus will be supported software wise.

If you have strong 4G LTE where you are, I'd say go for it. If not, and your 4G Wimax is good, stay with the E4GT.
I'm in Dallas and bought a used Sprint Nexus when LTE first hit here. It was so weak and sporadic that my Wimax was better, so I came back to my trusty E4GT.
Yes I would say it comes down to LTE. As far as the phone I prefer my s2 compared to my wife's G Nexus.
She uses my camera more than she uses her phone.

This is not necessarily true.
Is there a way everyone can get this deal or did you work it out with an employee you know or something? And would I be able to do it if I'm nowhere near an upgrade?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Id get it over the Epic because of LTE & Jellybean alone. BUT, I wouldnt want to use the Nexus for two years, at this point. So id pass!
I had to work it out with an employee, this is after all the rebates and trade in and stuff

$45 Unlimited All Straight Talk for T-Mobile

So all this time I thought that Straight Talk was ATT strictly.. til my bro in law just told me I can purchase a T mobile Sim Card and use it.
http://www.shopstraighttalk.com/bpd...cards&zip=32707&market=GSM5&locale=en&lang=EN
45$, unlimited text mins and web, no contract. Does anyone have this Straight Talk plan with a t mobile sim card?
If so, what kind of Web Speeds do they offer? Is it T mobiles Hspa 42.2 mbps 4g or what?
Also is it truly unlimited web? or do they throttle after certain GB of use?

Just to confirm straight Talk does have limits on their "unlimited web"
They just don't specifically tell you when.. But when they do feel like you've used too much data they just throttle you. That's an email from them.

I had Sprint last week and decided to get rid of them cause their data speeds was soooo bad.. so far though I'm happy with straight talk. The girl i bought my phone off she mentioned simple mobile which runs of T-Mobile towers. And idea about them?..

I've been using Straight Talk with the T-Mobile compatible sim for about 4 months now and I've never been throttled. I regularly use around 6-8gb of data a month and have never had any trouble. Speeds are exactly on par with what you get on T-Mobile.
However, there are rumblings of Straight Talk throttling on the AT&T compatible sim card.

Yes you can bring any AT&T or T-Mobile compatible device to Straight Talk. Just choose at the time of order whether you want AT&T or T-Mobile service. The GSM GNex can do either one.

Basically those are your two options. Considering you won't get LTE when you leave Verizon, and its a huge hassle to flash, I'd just sell it buy a GSM model and put it on a GSM prepaid carrier. Faster speeds and less hassle on your end.

Ya its a big hassle when compared to just buying a Straight Talk (or any other carrier) SIM and just putting it in the phone.
Not to mention that on Cricket you'll be stuck on EVDO 3G, which is quite slow often.

You get HSPA+, the faster-than-normal-3G connection. Plenty of info out there about it. No LTE on prepaid carriers just yet. The GSM Galaxy Nexus doesn't have LTE either way though, so the only way you'll get LTE is to go Verizon (or Sprint lol).
Speeds will be dependent on your area and network saturation. YMMV, I'd expect 2-7mbps down / 1-4mbps up.

ROMS for Metropcs GS3??
