I got a verizon nexus today and shortly after I got it I got a notificationp of a update which was the 4.0.2 well I kept choosing install later because I had heard that some of the problems didnt start till after this update. Problem is now when I check for updates it says my phone is up to date but it is still operating on 4.0.1 and I have tried a factory reset but the 4.0.2 update willl not show up. Is that going to be a problem and should I return this phone for another one ..

I saw this trick the other day. Open the phone dialer and type in *#*#checkin#*#* or the numeric is *#*#2432546#*#* and then try the system updates again in the settings menu like you were before.
As I understand it, this pings the server and more or less forces the update to poll to your phone. Only if you don't have the latest version. This I'm not 100% sure on all the information about the checkin call, but its worth a try.

Devices with android 3.1 and up have a check in button within the system updates page which does the same thing. The checkin code is not needed anymore.

Oh, so checking for updates is the "checkin" process made easy. Knowledge is power.

I'm now using JB but the update still download the entire apk instead of only the changes.. Or am I missing something?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Dunno if they've started that yet. And I don't think that's JB specific iirc. Thought I remember it being 2.3 and above. Its all handled on Google's end.

Sounds like it is enabled on all apps by default on anything 2.3 and up:
For Android devices with the Google Play, we launched the following at Google I/O today:
Smart app updates: For Android 2.3, Gingerbread devices and up, when there is a new version of an app in Google Play, only the parts of the app that changed are downloaded to users’ devices. On average, a smart app update is a third the size of a full apk update. This means your users save bandwidth and battery and the best part? You don’t have to do a thing. This is automatically enabled for all apps downloaded from Google Play.

No. No release date. My best guess is that it will coincide with the actual release of JB later this month.

Hello all I have a hopefully easy question. Sometimes an applicaton called popupui receiver shows up in my running applocation. Whenever I try to close the process, it restarts itself instantaneously. The only way to get rid of it is to restart the phone. I am running the 4.1.2 rom and have no issues but this thing has me super confused as to what it is and why it starts itself and is nunable to be closed. Can someone shed light on this mystery for me? Thank you and happy holidays
I cant be the only one I hope
I found a list on XDA on files on the Galaxy SII. Sorry, I forget where I found it. But here is what it says about the file you asked about.
Application name - PopupuiReceiver
Package name - com.sec.android.app.popupuireceiver
APK name - PopupuiReceiver.apk
Stock: Found in stock or custom samsung roms. Custom: Only found in custom roms. CM: Only found in CM roms. - Stock
Safe to remove - CAUTION
Info - Unknown Has been removed by some people
Thanks for the response but was wondering if anyone else is ever experiencing what I asked about?
Isn't that the Samsung auto check thing, that will periodically tell you if an update is available and install now or install later thing?

As many of you know, Google released a newer version of Gmail to Android phones. However, I have not been able to receive the new update. Is it just our phones in general, or a personal phone issue. I am using the Goldeneye Rom.
I believe they roll out their updates in stages (to prevent server overload?). I have not received the update yet either.
Here you go ;]

Thanks for the help lol
I just wanted to be sure I didn't have some sort of phone issue

Some hints:
1. Be sure you are on latest CWM or TWRP recovery!!!!!!
2. Not all gapps packages right now are nice working. You can try others but at least I know that the one linked here is working. If you have other gapps which are working you can link it here of course
3. Full wipe when coming from any 4.3 or 4.4 rom (as well format system manually please)
Reporting Bugs
When you submit a bug you want to make sure that nothing from your side is causing it. Otherwise your developer might be hunting a bug which doesn't really exist.
The best way to achieve this is by doing the following.
1. Make a nandroid backup.
2. Perform a full wipe (factory reset + wipe /system)
Now we have two different ways depending on what kind of problem you're having.
3a. When you're having a problem with a ROM function, flash just the ROM without GAPPS etc. and boot back into the system. You will boot directly onto the homescreen.
3b. When you're having a problem with a 3rd party app in combination with our ROM then flash the ROM and GAPPS.
Boot now back into the system. You will boot to the setup wizard.
Log in to your Google account but make sure that you untick "Restore from my Google Account to this phone/tablet".
Finish the setup and open the playstore and download only the app you're having problems with.
4. Start a logcat recording and reproduce the bug (if possible more than once) while taking the logcat. If you don't know how to get a logcat read this tutorial or this.
5. Post the logcat in a txt file (this is important because you otherwise clog up the threads with your log) in the correct thread.
Please also write detailed description how we can reproduce the bug.
6. Restore your backup from point 1 and wait for a fix (don't ask for ETAs).
First,,,,,,,im all over this sucker trying it now i hope data works
Wooooo finally thanks slimroms

Thanks. So far so only issues I'm having are the known ones listed by the dev. Thanks for everything you do, so happy to see toroplus still has support
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I am unable to flash this; says something about only for the toro as this is the toroplus. I am on twrp. Is it really necessary to switch to cwm?
I have a twrp that is compatible with 4.4 I can link when I get to office.
Or go to #twrp on freenode and ask DeesTroy for it. He's got it.

Dude this is so worth switching to cwm I've been a twrp user for at least a good 3 months once I've seen this I immediately switched and it was totally worth it

Yes data is working for me. Not sure about LTE as I do not have it in my area.

Data and everything not stated as a bug works. A couple questions for OP though.
1. Was this built with 4.2 binaries for radio and the like or the new 4.3 libraries we have now that 4.3 is officially released for the GNex?
2. Is the DPI correct for our device or is it set too high? When I had my own 4.4 build running on my phone it was a lot bigger when using branches from 4.3 ParanoidAndroid.
Thanks man
