As many of you know, Google released a newer version of Gmail to Android phones. However, I have not been able to receive the new update. Is it just our phones in general, or a personal phone issue. I am using the Goldeneye Rom.
I believe they roll out their updates in stages (to prevent server overload?). I have not received the update yet either.
Here you go ;]

Thanks for the help lol
I just wanted to be sure I didn't have some sort of phone issue

I know many people hate this app, but I am running the new Market and it says there is an update to Facebook but when I click on it I only have the options to open or uninstall the app. Anyone else having this issue?
I think you should try going back to the old market, wait for Google to put out the update automatically over the air.

Thanks for the Advice, but this was the only app that I have seen it do that on. All other aps have updated just fine. Also I bypassed it going to the Market via my web broswer and installing it that way.
That's a good idea... I prefer watiting for updates... That's just me though.

Its saying the same thing for me. But in the what's new area of the app it says version 1.6.0. Twitter is saying same thing about an Update
So since the developers of the official Hotmail app haven't gotten around to making it officially compatible with ICS, I was wondering if anyone might have a Froyo or Gingerbread handset lying around that could download the Hotmail app and post the APK? It works on ICS; I have an older version. I'd just like to get the updated version.
Thanks!
have you read the reviews on the latest update? I read a few and they werent to good.
If you upload the older version ill upload the latest...
Enjoy...
Yeah, overall it's not a great app, really. I'm just going to see if it fixes some wake lock issues I'm having. I've uploaded my version as well, thanks for the upload!

This also worked perfectly on my takju. Thanks to OP.
I can confirm this. Followed the instructions and the JB 4.1.1 update showed up.

This worked for me too, but it crashed while updating in recovery. My phone is stock, and now when I try the trick again, I can't get the update...

Honestly I think the main thing is clearing the data and checking. People seem to be throwing in other steps that I didn't do, but who knows maybe its a different situation for others.
Plus we're going to start seeing a ton of threads with variations of this "trick".

well worked for my galaxy nexus 4.0.4, its now updating to 4.1 thx to op
This worked for me. I have been checking every five minutes for the last couple days, clearing Framework, restarting, using different networks, and as soon as a tried this I received the update. Another thing to note, I checked for the update right before I used this "trick" to make sure it wasn't just a coincidence and I was still receiving the dreaded "Phone up to date" or whatever. So for this to be a coincidence would be a pretty low probability.
Thanks OP.
Even if this didn't do anything, I got the update finally.

Worked beautifully! I now have Android 4.1.1.
One quick correction: Google Framework is Google Services Framework.
Also, until 13 July 11:28 P.M. Google will only permit you to install using WiFi.
I tried it worked then restored root with voodoo. I am forwarding this info to others. A lot do not know about this.
my other phone is Nokia maemo n900
I did your trick, it working for me. But when it installing I get this error ; E : signature verification failed
I only rooted en unlocked the bootloader..
Thanks
Just keep getting a notification about a software update from T-Mobile is this safe to do when having a custom rom? The FreeGS3 R6
Is anyone having this notification as well??

Don't do it. Realistically, the dev should've disabled the room update feature if he used the TMo ROM for his base. You may want to pm him and let him know.

Its not gonna do anything. If you accept it'll download and attempt to install but will fail.
You can go into app management and disable the software update apps there.
FreeGS3 is a wip. Dev is also working on incorporating a software update for his rom, so it may have been left purposely. Either way, no harm has or will come beccause its there. Its already been covered many times in that roms thread as well as multiple others.

Titanium
Use Titanium backup to force stop the updates from happening or uninstall them all together I did that and now the updates are gone.
Since the thread is covered and done. I'm curious as to the whole update search app not hurting anything. On the g2x WhitehawkX always removed the possibility for it cause it was !
1. Annoying
2. Something that was always checking and causing battery drainage. It this not true?

Do you mean the Software Update and FW Upgrade apps? On a custom rom I dont think itd matter either way. Most likely you wouldnt be able to use it since you are rooted, deodexed and prob on a custom recovery. Like what happened for many on FreeGS3. Able to download the update but installation failed. But we knew it was available.
I dont think it uses much in the way of resources. He could be right about battery though, and im sure he knows more thsn I do on that subject.
In short it doesnt hurt anything to be there, but if it cant be used, isnt it just wasted space?

How do you get into app management? I've been looking... And with titanium, you must have the pro version, I believe to freeze the update. Also what do I freeze?

I have version 3.8.17 of play store, but the smart updates feature which downloads only updated portions of apks doesn't seem to work. Every time an app is updated the entire apk is downloaded, just like in the past. Do i have to change any settings anywhere?
Sent from my SGH-T999
I believe the developer of the app you are updating has to support this feature as well. They will have to deploy the update using this method and with it being brand new im sure many have not done this yet.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
In Google I/O i heard them saying developers don't have to do anything special for smart updates..hmmm who knows!
Sent from my SGH-T999
Try to update and stay on the update screen, sometimes you will see that it starts updating before finishing the whole download, for example I just update Google maps and after 40% download it update, maybe that's how it works I'm not sure
