Anyone knows what this is? It randomly asks permission to send out an email or sms. Baffled..
Edit: how to solve (posted by user gpierani) "" There is a file in /system/bin called bugmailer.sh if you rename it to something like bugmailer.sh-old then reboot it should stop ""
Need to bump this; anyone knows what it is? It looks like it's connected to taking a screen shot by Volume down + power button but not succeeding; this email request comes up then.

Wtf.. I just found some info pointing towards that as well. Android source that sends bug reports to Google without authorisation..??
Yeah, I get this on the CDMA Nexus, too. Running Peter Alfonso's Bugless Beast 4.0.3 with his kernel. There is a bugreport binary and a bugmailer.sh that I'm thinking about renaming to prevent it from happening...
I would like To know if i just can delete it

yeah I have loads of these I tweeted Peter Alfonso and he said it will be sorted in the next Bugless Beast Nightly..
I actually tried a few roms and was getting it quite often on anyone i tried!

.. a quick follow on, you prob have loads of screen shots in your gallery too.
I ran a LogCat on my Galaxy Nexus Device (GSM), and can see before the dump begins it always happens right after the screen state gets set (*** Set_Screen_State 1)
I get usually all of my 'BugMailer' dumps when my phone is on the lock screen or being woken up!
This all Comes from a file called bugmailer.sh cant i just delete it?

I am also having this issue. By default, it wants to send the Bug Reports to my own email address, not very helpful. Has anyone figured out how to remove this? Or who at Google to send these to so we can annoy them with Reports until they figure out a solution?

Good idea, get a Google email address!
its just an automated bug reporting system. It doesn't send anything without authorization. I have seen this since running 4.0 sdk ports on my nexus s. What always pondered me was the emails it creates are from ME to ME which isn't reporting it to anyone who gives an ish
There is a file in /system/bin called bugmailer.sh if you rename it to something like bugmailer.sh-old then reboot it should stop
Tested on my Nexus S
I just deleted it this morning ans since then everything is ok

What/how is everyone renaming the file?
I tried the File Manager that came with the ICS Rom (i think its the open kang rom)
and it says "UNABLE TO RENAME".. then "UNABLE TO DELETE" I also tried 2 other file managers off the market but same results
Please what is the best way.. im really fed up of texting someone and it slows down taking a screenshot with personal information displayed then opening gmail with it.. then i look in my drafts every night to find 40+ drafts with bugs and lots of screenshots!
Thanks in advanced!
PS: If possible please give me a why removing it from the phone... my computer with the drivers on decided to die on me so i have no drivers to open the folders (lost the link so cant download to the laptop) If not possilbe (if have to do through comptuer) anyone have the link to download to laptop?

I would rename your current calender to .bak instead of .apk so you still have it. Then using root explorer move this apk to system/apps the long press it. Click change permissions and I believe they should be set to rw/r/r. Good luck!

It's pretty simple. However this process still did not work on my rooted SGSII. But for future reference of these types of system files here ya go.
- Use Root Explorer to place the file in the System/App folder in the directory
- If the new file is a different name then you can easily just place it in that folder ( of course you have to change Root Explorer to R/O mode instead of R/W mode ) - ( if its the same name then just rename the old file to something you can remember )
- Permissions for most apps would be RW, R, R. Just click on the file and select "Permissions". After you do that you do need to re-boot the device to save the settings.
Note: I did try this with this calendar and it did not work. We actually need a SSGSIII Calendar ported to work on an SGII. I am not smart enough to make that happen. Although I would like to be able to do such things someday. Hope this helps at least for future reference.
I'm pledging $10 towards the Dev who can get the S-Calendar ported yo the T-Mobile SGS-2. Maybe more if it is done by Monday. I know it's not a lot, but it's what I can give.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this seemed like the most relevant place to post.
I recently put CarbonROM on my phone and, after playing around with it for a bit, realize I absolutely hate the google calendar and just want my old calendar back. I downloaded the apk provided in this thread and attempted to install it but it says I already have the app. Sure enough, if I go to Settings > Apps, it shows up as Calendar Storage, but there is no icon anywhere, such as in my app drawer, that allows me to load the program. I even tried using QuickShortcutMaker, but it can't find the calendar anywhere in the list of apps to make a shortcut. Does anybody know what I can do?
Same situation here with carbon Rom.
Anyone know how to get it working?

I am not sure, but it would seem, S Planer doesn't work on any other ROM than the Samsung Official ROM.
I don't know why... I've testing a lot of possibilities (replace the original AOKP's apk by the Samsung's apk, do a wipe Dalvik, wipe cache, modify the permissions...), a lot of apk (recovered here, recovered on an original v4.1.2 samsung's ROM, recovered on the testing v4.2.2 Samsung ROM...), and it never work on my CyanoGen Mod 10.1...
It isn't an incompatibility with an other home than TouchWiz because I've never use this home with my previous Samsung's ROM and S Planer working correctly...
I will continue to looking to do working S Planer with an other ROM, but I have little hope... :crying:
Hey guys, just quick request on my part. I was wondering if anyone could upload the stock Samsung apps (specifically s voice and memo) for cm10. The only link I found to them anywhere was a drop box that had been removed or deleted at some point.

The stock Samsung apps require the TouchWiz framework and will not work on CM10.
In the other thread I found it seemed to be working for the other guys. But isn't Google now supposed to work in essentially the same way? Although googles servers are on the fritz right now

Do you mind linking me to the thread? I know most stock features like Smart Stay and the wave hand over phone won't work on CM10 and when I originally did my research before flashing CM9 I was told very specifically that most of the stock Samsung apps were built into the TW framework.

I vaguely remember that thread. I think there were so many bugs and things going on people just gave up trying to force it to work. If you're just interested in S-Voice and Memo try searching the Play Store. You won't get the exact apps, but I'm sure there's similar apps that have the same features. And now that Google Now is working on CM10, I really don't see too much of a point in S-Voice.

HERETry this one.
Before anybody flames me, yes, I have searched every forum related to this issue. I am not a noob, just a lurker, so I don't have enough posts to post this in the development section. Here is my issue. I'm running Task650 and Ktoonsez 4.1.2 (build 11.18.2012) and I am trying to install a working version of google wallet. Before I go on, awesome ROM! I flash others and always come crawling back. Anyway, I've tried every variation on getting this to work out there, with no luck. This where I am at now. I can edit my build prop and get the market version of Wallet to work, but obviously it won't once I change my build prop back. If I try to flash the AT&T Modaco zip, I loose NFC in my setting menu. If I try to install the Modaco apk, it acts like its installing it, and at the end I get an "App didn't install" message at the end". My question is, how can I get this to work? If I can't, what exactly is the effect of leaving my build prop set on Nexus? Is it possible to flash the zip file, then extract something from an ota that I can flash to give me back NFC, but leave the rest of the changes the Mocado zip makes alone? If anyone can help me, I pretty much always donate to developers whose hard work I benefit from. Please help if you can. I am stubborn as gravity and will either get this to work or brick my phone trying.
Oh yeah, Its an AT&T phone.
I'm on the same ROM and have not encountered issues. Flash the modaco zip instead of installing, edit your build.prop, then reboot and add your card in the wallet app. After the card is added you can revert the build.prop.

I must have had a corrupt version of the file. I tried again and instead of loosing nfc, or wallet not showing up, the installation aborted. I redownloaded and reflashed with no issues. Thanks!
Glad to hear it! Remember, if you ever switch ROMs always reset the Google wallet app before flashing the new ROM.

One more question. Have yuo had any issue with nfc toggling off randomly since flashing this? It seemed to be working fine but what I have noticed is that if I haven't used nfc for maybe twenty minutes, it toggles off. Its still checked, but I have to uncheck it and recheck it to get it to work. I usually set it to stay on even when my screen is off, and haven't had any issues with it before, even when the phone is asleep. I could write a tasker workaround, I suppose, but I would rather just fix it.
I did notice that occasionally the NFC settings become unavailable. A reboot always fixes it for me.

There is multiview which allows you to split the screen and show more than one app. Besides this I have not noticed any other major positive changes either. But I gladly admit that while I do not really find much use for multiview, I do like the changes to the camera and gallery.
Then there is the additional bloatware added by AT&T.

You also get smart rotation, which will follow your eyes and not auto rotate if the phone is same orientation as your face (eg lying down)
And I was glad to see they took out the annoying side slide zooming!

This is a google thing and not a carrier thing. Google changed the way Android loads 3rd party apps, so that a secondary keyboard won't be loaded over the default.
what’s new in Android 4.1.2
Here’s what’s new in Android 4.1.2 for the Galaxy S3, according to AT&T:
Multi Window: You can open two different apps at the same time into two different windows on the mobile screen.
Auto Share Shot with NFC: By setting the camera to “Auto Share Shot” mode, you can quickly share your photos and videos by simply tapping their GALAXY S III with other NFC and S-Beam enabled devices
Camera features: Paper artist and best face options.
AT&T apps: AT&T services, Drive Mode, AT&T Locker; Family Map, Live TV, and SmartWifi have been loaded.
Other enhancements: Includes calendar, SD Card, and S-Voice enhancements.
I'm so new to this it's not even funny. I rooted my gs3 following the video posted here. As far as I know this means everything else is still stock right? No custom ROMs or Custom recovery or anything? My question is if all that is true can I just update OTA and reroot?
All the instructions I have found have mention flashing back to stock ROMs and using CWM Recovery. As far as I know I don't have any of that, so how do I go about updating?

Personally, I simply flashed the OTA .ZIP file using CWM on my pre-rooted 4.1.1 (which maintained root)

Phone told me I could only postpone the update 3 times before it would force the download. I ended up just going in to SuperSU and choosing "Full Unroot". Then I downloaded and installed OTA. When it was finished I used CF Autoroot. Odin told my I was good but none of my apps had root permission. Looked in my app drawer and couldn't find SuperSU. Downloaded SuperSU from the play store and when I opened it I was immediately asked to grant super user permissions to those app I had previously tried to use. Everything seems to be working.
Will this or a similar process work when 4.3 is released next month, or is that an entirely different bag of worms?
