Recently I have noticed my one x shutting off the mobile network when calling someone. This doesn't always happen but sometimes it does.I'm on t-Mobile uk. And I'm not sharing signal with orange however I have just turned it on to see if it makes a difference. Ant ideas on what to do?

Exact same problem here, i recall being able to make phone calls and surf the net at some point on the one x. I have no idea why i suddenly have this issue as well.
2G can't do both, 3G can, so it might be related to your signal.

It does sound strange. Have tried switching between 2g and 3g to see if it makes any difference?

2g makes no diff, ill have to wait for a phone to use and call them, and then most likely get a new phone, then unroot mine yaya and so on lol.

If you are both T-Mob, then of course you are the same network. They don't build a new set of cell towers just for pre-paid. They just change the way they bill you.
ya need to get a new phone, went back to stock rom and still is messed up
called tmobile and it turned out to be my sim card was a older version and had switched networks too many times and couldnt connect anymore. took the one that came with the phone and got it setup and its all good again.

Well, if the memory on the SIM card is akin to flash memory, I guess it's possible.

Really? Totally believe you just dont see the logic behind it. Why would they make a sim card only be able to switch networks so many times? Makes no sense. The person you talked to probably just had no idea what they were talking about!
Pretty much every rewritabe non volatile memory technology out there has a limiter number of writes that can be performed on it before it fails. Maybe a SIM card will last for > 10 years. I don't know, I haven't been with a single provider long enough to find out. I can see where this was a logical hypothesis on the part of the rep, and since replacing the sim worked, where is the problem?

Just curious about this question - because I would really want to use this with T-Mobile.
So, a few days ago I noticed that an aquintance of mine was using an ATT Samsung Note with T-Mobile. I asked him - but you are only getting Edge (2G), right? So he says - "No! I flashed the GSM version modem, and I am getting HSPA+ (4G)", or whatever you call it.
I was shocked! Amazing solution.
Do we have this?
Thanks
No. The AT&T model is completely different in terms of SoC.. their radios will not work for us. You can do like I am and use it on T-Mobile with an accompanying hotspot. Really not bad.

Thank you ! So making calls, texts, MMS is all fine, but DATA will only work on EDGE (2G)?
Also, what is "hotspot"?
Thanks again!

Yes sir, and I have found 2G is not nearly as bad as I once thought. A hotspot is just a device that gets 3G and broadcasts it as a wifi signal that your phone can use for data. On the T-Mobile website they are under "Mobile Broadband"

Same here, Houston coverage has been bad for the past week or so. In my house where I used to get like three bars on 4g, now I only get edge. Don't know what's happening here, could it be the refarming thing they got going on?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
I hope thats what it is. My download speed hasnt been too bad, 8-10 usually but the upload has been horrible, .3-.5 typically. But compared to the 15+ download and 2-3 upload I got the first couple weeks with the phone its noticable. The biggest problem though is that it seems to randomly just not be connected or want to connect to the net.
Sent from my SGH-T889
i have absolutely abysmal 4g speed around where i live (south san francisco, says its on 4g, geting about 30 kbps down). If i turn on pandora in my car it'll sometimes refuse to play and when I drive to an area where I know there's good 4g speeds, it still doesnt play. The phone says its on 4g but the down/up stream lights never blink, so I have to switch off and on my mobile data to get it working again.
Another incident was a similar issue, but instead it didnt have the 4g icon at all, it wasnt even on edge! All I had in the notifications bar was my battery and the t-mo signal. In this case I had to restart the phone.
So my mom has this phone, and me and my sister have HTC ones. Our phones work fine at home, and we just got Lte coverage a few days ago, so that's been nice. However, my mom's phone recently has been dropping basically every call no matter where she is or how much service it says she has. The signal bars show a red x, and usually given time the service will come back, but sometimes it takes a restart. I've tried updating profile and prl, and the best the people at the sprint store could do was tell me that there is supposed to be a software update coming to fix it. The phone is completely stock. It doesn't seem like the network cause the other phones work fine. Has anyone else had this issue? Any ideas on what we could try?

You must have weak LTE signal. Go to Settings>More>Mobile Networks and tick it to CDMA. If she wants LTE she'll have to do this manually.
Sorry but it's just the way this phone is.

I'll give that a try and see how it works. Why does this phone have an issue with it and the others don't seem to?

You can try to flash the ZVC radio from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230106 but you'd have to root/unlock.
Other option is to LGNPST in the same thread under "Additional info". That's about all I got.

The signal bars are calibrated differently. Looking at actual signal readings I see a +/-2dB difference which is negligible.
Gotcha. I believe there's a way to recalibrate the battery if I remember correctly.

Hmmm did you guys edit anything after running the Unlocked US RUU? I didn't edit anything and I left my SIM card in throughout the Unlock, S Off and RUU procedures. After finishing the RUU I rebooted when promoted in order to use the SIM card.

Welp, I've tried wiping caches, running RUU again, etc and nothing seems to work. Still getting weak/dropped signal in areas I normally get great receptions. Can't test the original radio from T-Mobile cause they've yet to release one sooo I'm SOL haha.

No issues at all. Actually, my signal improved tremendously after the conversion and first update. I get 4G/4 bars where I used to get Nothing. Very pleased with this mod.
I left my SIM in the entire time. Rebooted as described.

The actual signal should be the same.... It's the display (in bars) that can differ cause different thresholds can be used to represent the amount of signal. T-Mobile's 1.21 (I think it was) firmware was complete crap by the way...

Yea that's why I always go by the dbm now. The range seems to fluctuate when I'm on Unlocked US. Now that I'm on the newest T-Mobile OTA the signal is pretty stable. I hardly got to experience 1.2 cause I made sure to update before setting up the phone lol. Signal is one of those things that kinda irks me about HTC phones, from my One S up to the HTC 10. Wasn't too big of an issue to sway me tho.

That's very weird cause I did the same thing without any major issues. I'm waiting for the latest T-Mobile ruu and ill probably end up doing the same
It's purely an aesthetic difference due to how the phone maps the signal.
If you modify the phone to 6 signal bars from 5 it will also do the same thing as it doesn't know how to use the gen unlocked signal mapping rules for the added bars or in this case doesn't know how to map the t-mobile signal using the wrong ruleset.
