Does anyone know how to enable usb under service mode (*#9090#). Every time I enter service mode and select USB (option #1), it tells me to reboot to have the settings changed. After the reboot, it will automatically revert to UART (option #2). Is there a way to make it stay at USB (option #1). I am trying to unlock through usb data cable from fastgsm and I need to selection that option in order for the unlocking client to work.
thanks.
Do any of the options available using *#7642# help?

Did you try installing drivers from Motorola page?
I mean the phone itself wont show its in USB debugging mode
Yes I have the drivers

If official t-mobile 2.21 hide the debug mode, then, does that mean, it can't be rooted?
I managed to get it into debug, after trying time after time in different modes, and rooted it. I was like nooooooo:0

I flashed this firmware and had no problems enabling USB Debugging.
So I am trying to flash back to stock, but every time I go into Applications, it just shows all the applications, but no Development option. So I cant check Debug .
Also, Odin won't recognize my phone. I am on Frankenstein's from currently.
Help! I tried reinstalling my Samsung drivers with no luck.

In settings, is there a 'developers options'?
The Odin thing could be the driver, cable or USB port.

Thanks! I found the Debug option under Developers.
It's not the drivers bcs I uninstalled them & reinstalled with no luck. When I plug the phone into the USB ports, the phone begins charging, but the computer or ODIN won't recognize it.
I will try to use another cord to see if it works.

Are you sure you have the right drivers? Have you ever been able to connect?

im confused. have you or haven't you been able to flash with ODIN??? for ODIN you need the phone, ODIN, a good cable, the drivers. but your phone has to be in download mode on boot its vol. down and vol up at the warning sign
ok i see you havent been able to flash with ODIN
remember debug mode and download mode are not the same thing!!!! ODIN (or heimdall) needs download mode
I have been able to successfully use ODIN. But for the last week, when I try to use Odin to, there is no yellow window COM# when I plug in the phone in download mode.
I thought it was because debug wasn't checked. But now it is and my computer still isn't recognizing my phone in download mode or not.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
sounds like the cable or the port on your computer. DeBug has nothing to do with download mode btw
What Jamcar said, try different USB Ports or a different computer.
Even if you do not have the drivers installed, a different computer should still see it as an unrecognized device in case yours is having a problem.

Hey all,
My power button stopped working and I, thinking it was a software issue, pulled the battery and found out I could not restart. I need to get into recovery or at least turn on the phone to unroot and relock it before heading to verizon.
So far I have had no luck turning the phone back on. I'm sure there is a way to do this... any help is greatly appreciated.
You can use a jig to go into the download mode
And flash a rom

Is the jig the only option? I don't currently have a jig so if that's the only thing I can do I will need to order one ASAP so I can get this thing working.

Try to start it via adb, usb connect it, then type in adb devices, and then just adb reboot bootloader

Are you talking about in command prompt? I tried
Code:
adb-windows.exe devices
which returns " list of devices attached" with none listed.
If you can't get it to turn on they won't be able to either it will probably be fine.

The issue is that the phone is in no way broken other than the power button. I'll have to take it in and hope for the best if I can't figure something out, but I'd really like the peace of mind knowing that all of my files and data aren't stuck on it (I'd also like to get my lastest nandroid or do another one).
I saw a timing trick on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731128 that is supposed to allow the device to boot, but I haven't gotten it to work yet.
Google wugfresh nexus root toolkit
It has a simple one click fix for flashing stock and unrooting when the device can't boot up
Or you can use something like glados cp to relock the boot loader as your rooted then delete the superuser apk in system app

I've gotten the phone into download mode using a jig, but it still doesn't seem to be recognized by the computer. Is this an issue of re-installing the Samsung drivers/adb or a limitation of download mode? Do I need to use odin?

Are you sure you have ADB configured properly for the device to be picked up via command line? USB debugging would have to of been turned on for ADB commands..
I'm almost positive USB debugging is on, especially since I think it's a default option in kang. I can get into download mode but not anything else. At this point I think I'm going to have to use ODIN and lose my data. Stupid power button...
Try removing the battery then tapping the metal battery pins against the phone pins repeatedly.
A friend of mine used to have to do this to get his nexus one to boot.. it can be a bit temperamental but does work.

Make sure you have the correct drivers installed. From download mode you will have to use Odin.
Note: since the device won't actually boot into Android, you don't have to worry about USB Debugging.
Note x2: the only driver that would let my device be recognized was the PDA Net driver, you may want to give it a try.

Well guys, thanks for all the suggestions. In the end I could get nothing to work other than Download mode with a jig and Odin to restore to stock. I lost everything on the phone, including my nandroid backups (should have copied them over more recently ...), but was able to re-lock the bootloader with nexus root toolkit after using Odin to flash the stock rom. ]
Moral of the story, if you lose your power button, you are screwed.

Unfortunately you can't use adb to turn on a powered off device; not saying that wouldn't be awesome.
Is there a way to access note 2 via USB on your PC if you cannot check the USB toggle check mark on the phone itself?
When I connect to Windows, I keep getting "MTP USB Device failed" error?
I used odin to flash stock ROM but still no help.
anyway around this? thank you
me thinks, is there a custom ROM that has the USB toggle automatically turned on, on the phone?

adb pull/push whatever you need.
And I can confirm that Carbon Rom has it enabled by default.
I was trying to root my nexus 7 but didnt switch on usb debugging. It is now in a bootloop i suppose (stuck with the google logo and unlocked lock). I have searched on alot of forums and tried them but i think i failed because the usb debugging function is not switched on. I still can access bootloader as well. Please advise. Thank you.
Also, i tried to go to recovery mode but it will go straight to the bootloop
Don't you think it's the normal problem? Try fastboot -w in bootloader.

Try this tool(If you are using the Wifi version, stay clear if you are using a LTE version) :[TOOL] 08/23/13 One Click Factory Restore (dead or alive) updated w/ JSS15Q images, a lot users reported that it works very well for restoring bricked/bootlooped N7s, I once used it to wipe my unlocked & rooted N7 and go back to stock and it worked like a charm.

When you access bootloader, do you see the "START" option on the right of the screen with the arrows going up and down?

You don't need USB debugging for fastboot operations. As a matter of fact USB debugging is only used to conveniently boot the Nexus into the bootloader, so you don't have to press any buttons on the device.
