Can't access Applications > Development - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

So I am trying to flash back to stock, but every time I go into Applications, it just shows all the applications, but no Development option. So I cant check Debug .
Also, Odin won't recognize my phone. I am on Frankenstein's from currently.
Help! I tried reinstalling my Samsung drivers with no luck.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

In settings, is there a 'developers options'?
The Odin thing could be the driver, cable or USB port.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA

Thanks! I found the Debug option under Developers.
It's not the drivers bcs I uninstalled them & reinstalled with no luck. When I plug the phone into the USB ports, the phone begins charging, but the computer or ODIN won't recognize it.
I will try to use another cord to see if it works.

im confused. have you or haven't you been able to flash with ODIN??? for ODIN you need the phone, ODIN, a good cable, the drivers. but your phone has to be in download mode on boot its vol. down and vol up at the warning sign
ok i see you havent been able to flash with ODIN
remember debug mode and download mode are not the same thing!!!! ODIN (or heimdall) needs download mode

I have been able to successfully use ODIN. But for the last week, when I try to use Odin to, there is no yellow window COM# when I plug in the phone in download mode.
I thought it was because debug wasn't checked. But now it is and my computer still isn't recognizing my phone in download mode or not.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

sounds like the cable or the port on your computer. DeBug has nothing to do with download mode btw

What Jamcar said, try different USB Ports or a different computer.
Even if you do not have the drivers installed, a different computer should still see it as an unrecognized device in case yours is having a problem.

Its 2 late now but for anyone else that comes by this thread it is crucial that you have tested if not ODIN recognizes your phone before rooting it and putting a custom zip on your sd card. I can't tell you how many threads I have seen like this.
Before modding your phone what so ever it is a good idea to just open ODIN and see if your phone is using a com port. That way you always have an escape route if things go wrong.
To the original poster. If you tried everything listed in the posts above and still have no luck your only option is 2 find another comp.
Sorry

Did you try flashing a kernel like Genocide after the ROM? That has saved me once before.

In download mode you see the big yellow graphic of an android with a shovel right?
I would suggest using the drivers from samsung.com rather than any you find elsewhere, I've always had better luck with them.
Make sure you reboot your PC right before you try to use odin. Don't put it to sleep/hibernate, actually turn it off and back on.
Finally, try a different micro usb cable and plug into a different usb port. When you plug in, have you computer sound on to listen for the plugnplay "ding" sound - if you hear the sound just let it sit for up to 5min for the drivers to install. Either they will install and odin will give a com port or you will get an error on your PC.
If you get the error (failed to install driver) then you are probably still using the samsung usb cable and truely need to get a different one.
If you are using a diff usb cable, have tried multiple usb ports (front and back) and you have allowed up to 5min for the install but it still won't pick it up, either try with a different computer or take it to sprint and they can odin it for you.

ODIN Issues

I am having issues ODIN regonise my phone through a USB cable . I do have kies and usb drivers installed but for some reason it just doesn't see my phone..
What rom are you on? Are you rooted? Are you trying to unbrick?
Maybe try a different USB cable.
Also try a different port. If its a desktop use the back ports. Also try restarting the computer and phone. With the phone. Battery pull then reboot back to download mode

[Q] [Help!] Bricked Phone with driver problem

Hello everyone...
I was updating the phone recently, and went to reboot it (cyanogen mod ROM btw) and now I have no idea what it did but it is now stuck on the Samsung logo, and their is no recovery I can use on it. Only DL mode works.
I tried to use Odin to relfash but the problem is on both my Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers, they install the drivers, but they still fail to recognize the phone when I plug it in!
I have tried different USB ports, a full driver uninstall, multiple USB cords and the computer refuses to recognize the phone saying "USB Device not recognized"
Again, the drivers install fine, and I did a reboot after each install and uninstall. No luck.
I didnt even install drivers on my W8 netbook and I was able to flash back TWRP using Odin and Download mode yesterday when my attempt at flashing TWRP 2.6.0.4 originally failed.
Fire up download mode, then open up Odin (you should see a COM port open), load up what you need to install, then flash.
What are you trying to flash using ODIN? A bootloader or a ROM?
"BootLooping GhostBrick"
Holy crap! you too? I'm experiencing the same thing too bro. its my girlfriend's phone tho. she's borrowing my Nexus 4 while I work on fixing her SGS2...I seem to have contracted a serious case of the BootLooping GhostBrick, just like you did, right after updating. I went through the same steps troubleshooting as you did, and ...its a guess, but I'm starting to figure the solution will probably include: 1. using ADB to push sum files to the phone, or otherwise somehow reflashing stock firmware from the PC.
2. Re-Root the dam thing and flash a kernel with a recovery (like CWM or TWRP) using rom manager...and 3. Considering installing a ROM of my choice Like PACMAN, or Cyanogenmod.....hmm...Yum
anyway, the search for the vaccine to this dreadful affliction begins. Please post if you find something, I will too.

Reinstall Odin and the drivers for t989, then go get twrp 2.6.0.4 from techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules then open Odin and put the phone in DL mode, now when odin connects make sure u open the recovery in PDA format and touch nothing else in Odin, flash twrp and ur good, this version is capable of dealing with 4.3 too with no issues at all

Re-installing Odin and drivers still didn't get Odin to recognize the device in download mode. Windows 7 isn't assigning it any COM port, and nothing can be flashed unless Odin sees the com port the device is on. I used Goo Manager to flash TWRP 2.6.0.3 over my previous 2.6.0.0 version and now I'm stuck on samsung logo, can't reboot to recovery and PC won't recognize device in download mode. Anyone know a solution?

Welcome to ur first soft brick, and as I said in ur other post u need to disable or removes Samsung kies before trying to use Odin as long as any part of kies is running even in background Odin won't see the device, also make sure u use factory/data approved USB wires, also try diff ports, sometimes Odin won't see com3 but will see com5, be patient and follow this and ull be fine, also twrp2.6.0.3 has been known to cause sftbricks, DL 2.6.0.4 from techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules its the newest and 4.3 compatible

It's not a matter of trying different com ports, I can't get the PC or Odin to recognize the phone in download mode despite uninstalling kies, installing the latest drivers twice, 3 different OEM cables, multiple usb ports, nothing. when I plug it in, Windows doesn't make any sound like with other usb devices, nor does it try and search for drivers. Are there any other options short of JTAG repair?

I was going to reply earlier, but I got side tracked and this guy is literally having the exact same problem as me. I tried multiple OEM cables, and ports and Windows recognized it but it still won't let me USE it. Odin (after re-install) still shows no connections or ports.
Also, yeah this phone isn't mine either, my Dads. He is using my old S3 for now and is quite mad with me hahaha.
So yeah, I have to re-cap...
-Updated through Goomanager.... (the culprit I am guessing)
-Rebooted
-Got stuck on the Galaxy S 2 screen
-Plugged in with 4 USB cables to three different USB ports
-Uninstalled and reinstalled Odin numerous times, each with a reboot between.
-Odin fails to recognize it
-Windows KNOWS IT IS THERE, and makes a sound when plugged in, however it says "USB Device not recognized"
Any more ideas?
Thanks for the help to guys it is very much appreciated. I will donate to the person that can help me out of this

I am experiencing the same problem. Did anyone find the solution?
Probably a faulty USB port. My computer shows that message all the time, only one of them works correctly. If not, you just need to install the correct USB Drivers, because even if you don't have them it should recognize your phone as a Samsung phone but will say that the drivers did not install correctly.

[Q] Can't connect to ODIN after 4.3.3 update!

I upgraded from Stock 4.1.2 to Stock 4.3.3 (L900VPUBMK4) today. I did this via ODIN3 v3.09. Not my first time flashing a device. Not my first time with Odin. It upgraded no problem. Package installed, phone rebooted, on boot the package completed installation, rebooted again, and then came up shiny new 4.3.3.
Next step, of course, was to re-root. I went back into Download Mode, opened up Odin, plugged back in the phone, and NOTHING. It wouldn't connect to Odin. Mind you, this is the same Computer, Drivers, Cable, and Odin that I'd used 10 minutes beforehand and several times in the past.
I don't get it! I've tried re-installing my Samsung drivers, just for fun. I tried another cable. Also, when the phone's booted up in normal mode, the phone connects fine to the computer as a Media Device. I can't make this sucker connect to Download Mode all of a sudden!
ANY IDEAS?! Sure would appreciate it!

I did it 3-button. I don't have that option in Stock Recovery. All I have is:

Is there a way? Or maybe is there some way to get TWRP installed without Odin somehow?

Well, I found Debug Mode. For those interested, it's hidden in 4.3. Go to About Phone, then tap Build Number a bunch of times until it opens up Dev Options.
Anyway... Still no luck. In USB Debug Mode, in Download Mode, Odin still doesn't see the device.
Different cable. When flashing phones (using Odin, QPST, DFS, CDMA WS, etc.) I ALWAYS use the OFFICIAL HTC usb cable. It works with every phone that has a micro USB port (duh) and it's NEVER given me any problems. I'm sure the same can be said for other brand name cables, but I stick with what I know. Try a different cable. My generic China cable will do EVERYTHING...except get a COM port in Odin.
If this doesn't work, your charging port might be boned. It's possible a single pin may be damaged, preventing a data connection.
YES!

So! I just uninstalled my drivers again and reinstalled them. Still no luck. So I got super-frustrated and just started plugging and unplugging into different USB ports. All of a sudden, I got back to my "normal" port and heard the USB connect sound!!?!?! Then the drivers re-installed, then Odin connected!

It's been just me and you in this thread buddy lol. Don't use CF auto root. It doesn't work for MK4. Use Kingoroot (you can google it and find the program). It looks like an iffy program but it seems like some kind of multiroot and from what I can tell, it's very credible. Just put your phone into MTP+ADB (USB Debugging) and start the program. After a few minutes, your device will be rooted. Couldn't be easier.
