[ROM][.45][OC]PowerXperia - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Ok, I really should contribute to the community somehow So I decided to fix any little problem in my rom i'm currently using and release it, so people like me, that means people who like clean and tidy ROMs with some extra horsepower under the hood and few tweaks that increases usefulness of their device a bit will have their life a little bit easier because I'll try to implement as much awesomeness without unnecessary bloatware to this ROM and learn a bit about modding in the process
And I proudly present you PowerXperia ROM for Xperia S
It's based on official .45 ROM, with following changes:
StatusBar toggles
Percentage battery mod
^ these two were one mod, p3001ee's statusbarmod with quickpanelsettings.
krabappel2548's XperiaSSpeed Kernel V6 with stock bootlogo and "Xperia" background in recovery
serajr's xperia s customizable home launcher
ROM is debloated and some handy apps are included

- When lockscreen disabled and waking up phone with camera button, blank form appear that is canceled by any action. This is caused by Camera app.
- AROMA installer - honestly, i am aware that apps I use aren't apps that everyone want to use

Installation process:
This is currently standard recovery flashable ZIP file. If you do not have access to recovery you may want to read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1793272 there are several ways how to boot into recovery, you may use any method, the recovery will be reflashed anyway. This rom also requires unlocked bootloader.
1) Place installation package anywhere on your internal card.
2) Boot into recovery (usually with pressing vol up button when prompted by kernel)
3) Select install zip from sdcard.
4) Select choose zip from sdcard
5) Find installation package on SD Card and confirm installation
6) Wait until updater finishes his job and wipe cache partition or (optional) perform hard reset.
7) Profit

Good to have another rom... But this is more like a combination of some mods that you have done on your stock rom with krabe's kernel and made it a power rom...
Anyways one new rom for us.. Cheers
Edit : you already told these in the beginning.. My bad

exciting stuff!! Btw, is it overclocked by default??

Harsh7689: The point of this ROM is to ease the effort patching it up to others with similar requirements from their device. I've not said that I have done something special, I don't know java and I know very little from bash and other scripting... only thing I've learned up to today is to find a mod, test it and if it works well use it until i find better. This is my little I can do for the community... Maybe I'll learn from this baby-in-sandbox project something that will allow me to do a bit more for community than this... I agree, it's nothing much fancy, but it might help someone, that's why I posted it here.
imrock: It's kernel is krabappel2548's XperiaSSpeed Kernel V6, so yes, it is overclocked by default and can be overclocked up to 1899 MHz, which me personally finds quite hazardous Anyway default overclock is somewhere around 1,7 GHz which is safe value The package also contains Voltage Control free edition, which will allow you to alter those values to your taste

Glad you agree uploaded.to mirror nearly ready. Will add it to first post By the way, thanks for thanks

after desperate messing with aroma installer i have another idea how to contribute to community tool that generates aroma scripts

What is the difference between this "ROM"and the other ones like Eratcher and DualCore "ROMS"

It is supposed to be as much stock as possible, while getting some extra functionality, to be honest, i'm not keen using AOSP - themed rom, if i would want to, i'd bought galaxy nexus... i've bought xperia cause i like it's design... by the way, being arrogant and rude is not the best way how to support someone trying to learn something...

Could you send me the kernel only, if possible?

i think he(Felimenta97) is asking for the kernel because ladynaamah has the ka kernel with default sony logo.

You may extract zImage file from archive and flash it via fastboot using command
Code:
fastboot flash boot zImage
provided you have connected your device in fastboot mode
geekygrl: I'm aware of that, but what shall i do? Type here guide how to extract it, modify it, repack it and flash it separately? That's not making much sense, would excessively complicate process that is supposed to be simple...

[REQ] A Good Guide To Sztupy's Universal Lagfix. Sztupy Chips In Here.

Hi,
I for one is an eternal seeker of a lagfree SGS. But, being Sztupy, he can only spew out TECH. Most people either misunderstand, misinterpret or misdo things that he says & get into trouble.
My request here. Can a dev put things into perspective & give out a simple detailed guide for everyone? It needs to be lucid & comprehensive, & to be understood by both a layman as well as Einstein.
Thanks to all of you for the good work. I now feel proud I chose SGS over X10, my daughter gave me 10 seconds to choose.

A guide for a kernel that is meant to be for people to make experimenting easy... kinda strange
Of course there might be a guide which tells you how to achieve the most stable config with ultk, but I'd rather flash voodoo in that case as it's much more stable. (but it's not really meant for people who want to experiment with different hacks and tweaks).
Btw. some cookers already use ultk in their config, and provide some guide on which option to choose (usually they tell you use no-rfs advanced ext4). They also have the added benefit that using the same rom there are less problems and more people can actually try to guess what went wrong (as all of the people on that rom topic are actually using more or less the same config).
The ultk, because it's just a kernel can be flashed to a lot of different roms, and it's possible some of it bugs are there because it's in some way or another incompatible with that particular rom.
Although a simple guide would be:
- Reboot to download mode (by holding voldown+home+power while switching on)
- Flash a complete JPM or JP6 based ROM, using Odin (re-partition ticked, use the 512 pit, and use a package that contains all images (dbdata, cache, system), although dbdata might be optional)
- After flashing reboot to download mode.
- Flash the kernel image over on that rom, using Odin (re-partition is not ticked, only the image is set as the PDA part)
- After flashing reboot to recovery mode (by holding volup+home+power while switching on)
- In the recovery menu chose Advanced ULK features->Lagfix options->No -RFS Advanced (a=e4)
- Press "reboot to recovery"
- After reboot chose not to create a backup, nor a restore
- After it boots up in recovery again press reboot again.
- You'll have a clear system with ext4 on all data partitions

Yep, it's actually preferred to use that rom as a base.
Ok, I'll try and flash it. Sztupy, your ROM is the only Froyo ROM I'm using. Thank You GREAT JOB!!!!
Pls correct me if I am wrong (still learning):
'Ext4 + ext2' means loop means buffer does not fsync ? It this safe? Not always 100% sure everything if saved?
Bind means using a faster but smaller partition ? Safe except for 'running out of space' problems ?
Correct? or?
I still need to test read speeds: How fast is RFS reads compared to EXT4 reading speed? I still believe an ALL EXT4 would be the best lag-fix!
Can /efs be made EXT4? I know /SYSTEM can. I need 48 hours in a day!
Thanks
JKay

[KERNEL] I9000B kernel with STEAM support [ALPHA]

This kernel is a new one with the recovery STEAM insteaod of the normal one, it support a lot of options, take a look
to use it:
apply extract the zip and apply the tar in odin as pda or also extract the tar and apply the zimage as kernel with heimdall
NOTE this is for the 2 froyo roms i know
EDIT:
V2
This is the v2 version, not many changes but from the SpeedMod Kernel by hardcore i used:
* Optimized compiler flags: -mcpu=cortex-a8 -mfpu=neon -mfloat-abi=softfp -fno-gcse -fprefetch-loop-arrays --param l2-cache-size=512 --param l1-cache-size=64 --param simultaneous-prefetches=6 --param prefetch-latency=400 --param l1-cache-line-size=64
Also there are some memory twaks from that thread, i got 334 of total RAM, please check your SGS before flahsing because by mistake i didnt and now im not sure if it did any change
CHECK camera/vide/radio/tv/games
PD i added ext4 and JFS, but i did not tested them
No go and thank him an zstupy for this great work

Is it a fully working Steam??? I will surely try if it is.
i tryed some options and it worked, testing is welcome
Does it replace the CWM? Does it have all the basic CWM functions working? To go back, can we just flash another kernel with CWM or we need to flash a whole ROM?
I guess if you have a 'what's working' list & a 'to-do' list, we can start testing it.

Seriously forget about BLN & other petty stuff. Go ahead and make a working STEAM KERNEL..
PS : This is some real good work.
PS2 : You need to put a BOUNTY on it.
PS3: checkout & rename your [ALPHA] to a version # looks good on the Title.
im not doing a lot of improvements, im working on some ideas on the work other ppl does for the other SGSs versions and thinks i would like, like this steam kernel
it is my V3 base kernel, it has tinyRCU, ondemand scheduler and BFQ sched
there is NO BLN because it caused problems with a2dp audio
Will keep a watch on this thread.
great man..lot's of options in steam menu...
some explanation about that? can u provide or give a link about lots of options we have now?
can i put everything in ext2????

<----- looks at his thanks meter & smiles,
Can we make the conversion to ext 2, 3 or 4 with this Steam Kernel?
And, it's too complicated to have some overclocking room on near future with this kernel? Like something to make easy to overclock with Set CPU and some setcpu.txt files?
Thanks, Luis! You're one of the most active developers to I9000B and we all should be completely thankful to you!
Keep with the good work! Congrats!
Ok. Running on JFS and everything seems to be ok and pretty fast till now. About 1500 on Quadrant and, just to mention, I've made a full conversion without backup. Wiped out everything to be sure if anything goes wrong it's not caused by apps and past configurations. Missed the ext4 conversion to test. Not tested ext2.

Oh well...
I'm still running everything on JFS and it's pretty fast and smooth, without bugs as I could see. But after some research found that it could be interesting to put /cache and/or /system to ext2. Anyone already tried this? It really should make some difference?

[MOD][SlimBean 7.5] 45 Steps Volume mod for fine-tuning media volume

for now, SlimBean version 7.5 only
45 Steps Volume Mod
1. Download this framework.jar and paste into /system/framework/ using a file manager with root access (e.g. ES File explorer, root explorer, etc)
2. Make sure permissions are set to rw-r-r
3. Reboot
Enjoy!
Out of curiosity, do you have the source of what you changed, and what exactly was changed before the framework.jar was compiled?
I wouldn't recommend installing an unknown compiled replacement for the framework.jar without understanding what exactly was changed and how, especially as it may impact other functions of the rom depending on what exactly was changed. Also this mod might not work after 7.5 as there's going to be a major framework change in the next week(lies).
I'll create a new one when a new version of SlimBean releases if people want it.

I'm curious if the framework.jar differs from device to device (I'm not an android developer so it's not within the scope of my knowledge). Because personally I haven't had a sound volume problem with Mako/N4... now the Nexus 7 on the other hand, gotta crank that baby up +12 decibels in DSPManager just to sound loud enough.
It's of course one of the reasons I asked about source, because if it's something minor here or there and just re-compiled for a specific, that would be easier to deployed in my opinion.
Here's the tutorial I followed.

Know what would be really handy, if you know how to do it.
An Aroma installer (like I did for my sd-ext/dataswap enabler in my sig).
Basically package two versions of the framework.jar, modified and unmodified. Flashing the zip in recovery will ask if you want to apply the mod, or uninstall the mod, and replace the framework.jar with what you want (or alternatively two zips for apply and restore).

Youre right. I thought about it and concluded I'm not handy enough to create a flashable zip let alone an Aroma installer like the Beanstalk rom guy did in the Android Development forums. I'm thinking it that it may be possible to just do it all via flashable scripts for EVERY rom instead of just slimbean 7.5 but then again, I don't have any training with code. I'm now thinking my mod doesn't deserve a thread of its own lol (especially if people don't trust random files - and they rightfully shouldn't). But, nice looking out!

Technically mods are supposed to have a thread of their own, rather than just tagged in a rom thread.
That way anyone who has questions or issues can discuss them in the thread specific to that mod
Besides, a thread of it's own makes it seem a bit more um... legitimate.

[Q] Is the stock rom "good enough"?

I'm taking over a friends old R800i next week and I'm really looking forward to it since I've wanted one of these since about when it was released.
What I'm looking for is a rom that gives me all the usual stuff - GSM connection, working 3G, wifi, gps, sms, mms, camera - but, will a custom rom give me better performance for emulation?
I want to be able to emulate all kinds of consoles without losing too much performance due to the rom - nor do I want my battery to get drained while the phone isn't in use. I'm of course ready to try a bunch of roms and I have looked at some of the threads, without learning much to be honest. I'm not even up to date with who's roms are the stable ones or which is the highest SE provided rom for Play either.
Looking to emulate N64, nes, PS and sega genesis, mainly.
If you root and debloat the stock rom, you will get excellent gaming performance. I went rom using custom roms and went back to stock as it provided the best performance all around.

Have a quicklist of which items to uninstall? Is there timescape and other such stuff on the Play?
Also, which android version do you use? 2.3.4?
Was waiting for a thread like this,
Visit Gene real and take a look at the Ace xp setup,

stock rom is great even without any tweaks
you only need to debloat it

as i know editing the build.prob without adding the setup wizard again will solve the problem(there is aline about setup wizard in build.prob. but i cant test it now)

Well Pizza_dox is an asshat refusing to answer on relevant questions in the thread he made for "the perfect setup", so I need a reliable source to go after since I have no idea what following the guide he provides will actually do to the phone (and I'm not going to learn by failing, hence why I ask questions which she/he refuses to respond properly to)
Dude sorry... But I might have been bussy and forgot to check the thread...

Please act respectful: PizzaDox has opened many manu threads, and he can't be repling at all of them.
Anyway debloating a rom is simple and can be done by everyone that wants to, by extracting the system.sin from your .79 ftf, dumping its data with flashtool in order to make it a yaffs img, extracting it with a yaffs extractor and then removing the apps located into "app" that you consider as bloat

[P9000 Lite] [ROM] [7.1.2]AOKP Nougat [(un)official]

Rom based on this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p9000/development/rom-aokp-nougat-t3690278
Full credits go to the AOKP team who made the rom for P9000.
To use on P9000 Lite you may need CWM 3.0.2.8 and you have to restore the backup zip provided in the link.
Features:
- Same as P9000 AOKP rom.
- Gapps (Micro) come preinstalled.
Warnings:
- The unpacked rom uses up to 5200MB, so make sure you got free space!
- Put the rom backup on an SD Card, not on internal memory.
- Fingerprint options make the settings app crash (Obviously).
Bugs:
- The rom occupies about 20GB because of a bug.
- Charging seems to be painfully slow. (If someone could fix this, it would be really awesome.)
Installation:
You have to put the folder from the zip in TWRP\BACKUPS.
It should appear and then you should be able to see the rom and install it.

(Please post to mirrors and post comments with the mirrors, and I'll update the original post)
Good luck!
Update:
For my phone, it charged the battery a bit, or so it seems, and then it kept going down.
Not sure what the bug is, at least for now.
So keep this in mind while downloading.
Any contribution is greatly appreciated.

ATM I can only point you to CONFIG_MTK_PUMP_EXPRESS_(PLUS_)SUPPORT.
Did you set the following in devconfig?
Code:
CONFIG_MTK_PUMP_EXPRESS_SUPPORT=y
CONFIG_MTK_PUMP_EXPRESS_PLUS_SUPPORT=y

I'll definitely try doing that but for now I took a break, since finals are coming.
If somebody fixes it before I get to have some free time, that would be even better to be honest.

i doubt that will happend, i dont think many people use the lite version, me in particular use the normal version, so i cant really fix it.
Do we know if anyone fixed it?

Hi!
Anybody fixed the problems?
Hello.
I was going to continue porting this but unfortunately my phone failed so I was forced to buy a new one.
I'm afraid I can't work on this anymore, as I no longer have a p9000 lite
