I'm taking over a friends old R800i next week and I'm really looking forward to it since I've wanted one of these since about when it was released.
What I'm looking for is a rom that gives me all the usual stuff - GSM connection, working 3G, wifi, gps, sms, mms, camera - but, will a custom rom give me better performance for emulation?
I want to be able to emulate all kinds of consoles without losing too much performance due to the rom - nor do I want my battery to get drained while the phone isn't in use. I'm of course ready to try a bunch of roms and I have looked at some of the threads, without learning much to be honest. I'm not even up to date with who's roms are the stable ones or which is the highest SE provided rom for Play either.
Looking to emulate N64, nes, PS and sega genesis, mainly.
If you root and debloat the stock rom, you will get excellent gaming performance. I went rom using custom roms and went back to stock as it provided the best performance all around.

Have a quicklist of which items to uninstall? Is there timescape and other such stuff on the Play?
Also, which android version do you use? 2.3.4?

you only need to debloat it

well pizza_dox has a stock debloated of 79 frimware

Well Pizza_dox is an asshat refusing to answer on relevant questions in the thread he made for "the perfect setup", so I need a reliable source to go after since I have no idea what following the guide he provides will actually do to the phone (and I'm not going to learn by failing, hence why I ask questions which she/he refuses to respond properly to)

Please act respectful: PizzaDox has opened many manu threads, and he can't be repling at all of them.
Anyway debloating a rom is simple and can be done by everyone that wants to, by extracting the system.sin from your .79 ftf, dumping its data with flashtool in order to make it a yaffs img, extracting it with a yaffs extractor and then removing the apps located into "app" that you consider as bloat

Since I can't post in the developer section yet i'm asking here, hope it's ok. Been looking at the ROM for a few mins and it looks great, but i've been using MIUI for so long my flashing skills are kind of rusty.
First of all, the kernel is included in the ROM and is the one the developer recommends or have developed right?
And secondly, wich radio is recommended for the ROM? Could'nt find any answer to that in the first post dedicated to the ROM. Should i flash radio before or after i flash the ROM?
Again hope you don't mind me posting this stupid question here and thank you in advance for your answers.
Oh and btw does HTC Watch work with these ROMs? Living in Sweden if it matters.

follow my signature for trouble free flash and welcome to rcmix3d 1.5... best rom out there and if the htc watch service is available in your country then yes it will work.
Transferring the ROM, Supercharger, full wipe 1.5 ext4, and the overclock thing right now, hopefully I'll have it done with the titanium backed up apps installed as well. Your signature actually helped alot.

you are welcome just remember while using titanium backup DO NOT restore system apps and ONLY restore user apps without data.. even better if you have not started already just make a folder in the root of your sdcard\RCTeam\app.user and copy all your user apps from data\app folder to sdcard\RCTeam\app.user and let the rom install your apps automatically.
Restoring data was the reason i bought titanium backup
I'll just restore the apps i had then with market links. The ROM is really fast btw, the eyecandy isn't too bad either.

Actually it seems that the script killersloth linked is the problem as the phone froze again before i even entered my SIM Pin, I'll just flash the restore thing before it freezes the next time.
And Wavesecure is actually really good, I can lock and locate and wipe the phone with simple text messages, though I never use any kind of AV apps.

I would just go with a standard Rom flash set it up as my liking then do a nand backup only then I will start playing with oc\uv and fine tuning the rom to my liking... it has saved me a lot of problems faced by many users. just my way of doing things. after every success mod I do a nand backup incase my next mod messes up something I have a backup to come back to saves a lot of time and hassle. IMHO I can't say any thing about killersloth's script coz I have not used it.
NAND backups takes ages xD
However the phone is working as it should now, all thats left is a nice theme, anyone?
I won't be playing around with voltages and speeds on the CPU, default is just fine.

Can I use any of the ROMs listed in the OUT kitchen or do I have to upload my own files as the ones for this specific ROM aren't available.

your best bet is to upload the files from your phone or the downloaded rom, in the uot kitchen.. the fc problem in the glass theme is a known issue you overcome it by disabling the sound effects in the weather app
OK, thanks for the fc fix.
Only thing bothering me with the theme is the transparency in the status bar, replacing it and the battery, + a new font. Then I'm happy until I find something fancier

I found a supposed "safe" list of stock apps to delete and foolishly started firing them in the bin only to find that the messaging icon had not only vanished from the home tray but the option to replace it with a new shortcut had too.
I guess one of the apps deleted was responsible for that. Can any of you boffins figure out which i need and where to get it? The dangers of rooting sigh.......
I use handicant messages so perhaps a 3rd party applications could suffice. Next time either make a nandroid backup or use titanium pro.

Thanks for replying but im sorry. Maybe im a noob. I did make a nandroid but a couple of months ago and i wanted my system the way it was the other day. Dont know how to use ftfs or how they would particularly apply here. If i was to extract a copy of the current system id still be missing the messaging app wouldnt i? Is there not simpler apk method maybe or something that doesnt involve code/commands.
Just go on the market and download go sms or handcent

Ok, I really should contribute to the community somehow So I decided to fix any little problem in my rom i'm currently using and release it, so people like me, that means people who like clean and tidy ROMs with some extra horsepower under the hood and few tweaks that increases usefulness of their device a bit will have their life a little bit easier because I'll try to implement as much awesomeness without unnecessary bloatware to this ROM and learn a bit about modding in the process
And I proudly present you PowerXperia ROM for Xperia S
It's based on official .45 ROM, with following changes:
StatusBar toggles
Percentage battery mod
^ these two were one mod, p3001ee's statusbarmod with quickpanelsettings.
krabappel2548's XperiaSSpeed Kernel V6 with stock bootlogo and "Xperia" background in recovery
serajr's xperia s customizable home launcher

exciting stuff!! Btw, is it overclocked by default??
Harsh7689: The point of this ROM is to ease the effort patching it up to others with similar requirements from their device. I've not said that I have done something special, I don't know java and I know very little from bash and other scripting... only thing I've learned up to today is to find a mod, test it and if it works well use it until i find better. This is my little I can do for the community... Maybe I'll learn from this baby-in-sandbox project something that will allow me to do a bit more for community than this... I agree, it's nothing much fancy, but it might help someone, that's why I posted it here.
imrock: It's kernel is krabappel2548's XperiaSSpeed Kernel V6, so yes, it is overclocked by default and can be overclocked up to 1899 MHz, which me personally finds quite hazardous Anyway default overclock is somewhere around 1,7 GHz which is safe value The package also contains Voltage Control free edition, which will allow you to alter those values to your taste

What is the difference between this "ROM"and the other ones like Eratcher and DualCore "ROMS"
It is supposed to be as much stock as possible, while getting some extra functionality, to be honest, i'm not keen using AOSP - themed rom, if i would want to, i'd bought galaxy nexus... i've bought xperia cause i like it's design... by the way, being arrogant and rude is not the best way how to support someone trying to learn something...

i think he(Felimenta97) is asking for the kernel because ladynaamah has the ka kernel with default sony logo.
You may extract zImage file from archive and flash it via fastboot using command
Code:

provided you have connected your device in fastboot mode

Why did I create this thread?
I want to keep my Development thread clean.
What can I ask/post about?

"Does supercharger work with this rom?"

And so on...

I had it installed on P11. You have to patch services.jar (there's a windows tool to do it for you here).
I had a lot of freezing problems before and after installing it. They weren't the same after I installed it; not necessarily better, just different. I have no way of knowing if it was supercharger or an app or some sort of interaction between two or more things.
I'm on 3.1.0p1 now and I have no intention of using supercharger because my Desire is more responsive and better at multitasking now than it ever was on Gingerbread with supercharger.
sorry to ask what exactly is/does supercharger?

I can't say, I don't use my desire. But.. If someone else here were to install Netflix (No need to login, just try to start) that'd be great.
Get me a logcat and I'll see what I can do.
adb logcat -c <press enter>
adb logcat > netflix.txt <press enter> and start netflix. then upload it somewhere (like pastebin?)
I would ask for Aroma Installer with which we can be able to choose between different scripts (A2SD and INT2EXT) and misc.
And....what about trying Cyanogenmod settings to be able to customize even further?

Using Aroma = more bugs. No thank you.
Well.. That's Cyanogenmod and not Evervolv.
Hi Nikez, Just curious, any reason you use a2sd and not other scripts (d2ext, int2ext etc)? Speed, stability? So people won't ask and try other alternatives as you as dev explain the benefit.
By any chance, did anyone try endomondo on the new p1 release? On p11 I had a problem that every time I tried viewing the map, the phone froze.. not sure if it was some issue with gapps. Anyone hit anything similar?
@nikez thanks for the awesome JB ROM. My Desire is still kicking along after nearly 2.5 years!
I have just installed the latest update 3.0.0p11, flashed the 4.1.2 version of google apps (gapps-jb-20121011-signed) and setup app2sd.
When I view the available space using Titanium Backup I only have 36.8kB free in System Rom partition. Is that normal on stock Hboot?
Also, I installed the latest Google Calendar update from the Play Store. I now have two calendar apps installed. Has anyone else tried this yet? Do I need to remove the other one from /system?
I would like to thank you deeply for this amazing ROM. I've been searching a perfect rom for a long time, but I think I am very close to end my search now while using your ROM. Very fast, very versatile, almost stock ROM. I love simplicity and this is absolutely perfect.
The only problem I had was a problem with camera - I know this is an annoying issue with many ROMs and it's probably not very well made in the Android itself. Do you think it will get better? I understand that it probably does not depend on you, but I believe this is the last thing that is truly missing to your ROM. (But I am no power user, just a casual user).
And again, thank you for (imho) the best Jelly Bean ROM available here, and I am seriously considering a donation. Keep up the good work!

Hey guys, does anyone have an idea how to get bluetooth-tether working? With p11 i got it randomly working by playing with settings in pimp my rom, but i can't remember.

Until the bootloader is unlocked. Attached is some mods to improve upon Jellybean.
Also, I urge people to bring any modifications(or test yourself) some of the mods in the Nexus 4 section that I can hopefully start transposing onto the LG Optimus Jellybean. I suggest if you're unsure if a mod will work. Ask me first, it's better to ask than brick your phone.
I'll make flashable zips and incorporate into lifeless eventually.
thermald-8064.conf
- Download file (this is NOT flashable)
- Extract the file
- Replace the extracted file with the same file in System/etc (Using Root Explorer or similiar)
- This improves the overheating issue based on the modified stock thermaconfig from ICS
Camera-Mod by _EPIC
- Same exact directions as above
- Excep replace the media_profiles with the media_profiles file attached.
More to come
Seems to be working thanks!

Both work great, as always! :good:
Wifi Teather Root
Hello,
Hope this is the right forum, just recently updated to jelly bean LS970ZVB from this forum. Was able to retain root access; however lost my ability to use Wifi Tether for Root Users. Evidently FreeGee hasn't came up with a way to unlock the bootloader just yet after the update. Is there a way with this update to utilize free WIFI wireless tethering. I've looked around everywhere, and nothing has seemed to work. I have all green check marks on the log within the application. Please help!!!!:confused.
Maybe Sqlite will work with forcing entitlement changes; however , cant find this either.

The JB mods thread?
I didn't realize I was in this thread. The camera mod is one I made. It greatly improves camera and video. The thermal one helps with overheating.

Um, wifi tether works fine for me. Not sure why you need an unlocked bootloader to run wifi tether.

I really liked your camera mod for ics so I wanna give this a shot. I don't know where to put the XML file though. I don't see anything names camera_profiles. Does this replace something or just get dropped in somewhere. Thanks for your work. Sorry for my lack of smarts

Didn't see that in the etc folder the first time. Anyway, I replaced it now. Thanks
I can't seem to DL the thermal zip correctly. It says it dl's but when I open it there is nothing in there. The cam mod zip worked fine.

Adri, the bootloader is unlocked, but the boot image that freegee has is for ics and therefore won't boot. If you just flash the recovery and aboot, you are unlocked, but can't debloat since the security error is fixed with the custom boot image. We haven't figured out how to fix it on jb hence the delay.

This one sounded interesting. Wonder if there's a similar mod that would work for us:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028289
It changes the synaptic driver out to increase touch screen responsiveness.
Nothing else really comes to mind though.
There's a virtual CD ROM mod I saw floating around, but I would have to find it again.

Shelnutt has updated freegee to properly work and boot for us (the jb boot image and stuff has been taken care of). Now that is out of the way and we are unlocked/rooted zvb, could you make flashable zips for the 2 mods? would love to try them out
thanks
Always look forward to you and Epics stuff.
thanks op!
