Counterfeit Otterbox commuter? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Ordered an Otterbox Commuter from eBay and just got it in today. It was supposedly one in bulk without packaging (which I understand can be possible for some products). But after putting it on, I seen that the screen protector is not properly shaped , it covers up the front facing camera and is about 1/8" short on both sides and the corners are a bit weird shaped.
The inside of the hard shell says on the right of the date stamp
"OTR
COM
7111"
and below says
"MADE IN
MEXICO"
The rubber sleeve has the same then says "PATENTS PENDING" above the made in mexico stamp
Does anyone have one of these that you could snap a picture of so I can compare them?

Don't use the screen protector so can't comment on that.

Platinum Series Case for HTC EVO 4G from Best Buy - $30

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Platinu...199186619&skuId=9943616&st=evo case&cp=1&lp=1
That is the case I got from Best Buy today. I compared it to the silicone one they had for $21 but I ended up with this one because it seems more durable and if you lay the phone on the screen the case lifts the screen off the surface its laying on to help protect the screen as well.
I think $32 out the door was a little pricey, but to protect my new phone it is definitely worth it.
They were sold out by the time I got there. I really wanted the one with the clip. Can't find them now. They are made by Seido from what I am hearing which they sell for $49.99 so it's a pretty good deal and solid imo.
can we get some pics? the product wasn't displayed good on there site
it's a great case. The insides are felt lined & padded. Also I had no problem slipping it in w/ the invisashield. The back of the case goes slightly past the camera lens so the phone isn't laying on it. Then there is a very small lip on the front to keep the screen from resting on a surface. A pretty solid case to use for now until more people start manufacturing for in. Hopefully serpent cases make something for this

its literally the same as the seido case that someone else posted a topic about. look at that topic and thres pictures and in the general section someone posted a video review of the seido case.
the best buy platinum case is just a re-branded seido case.
I had purchased it because a sales rep told me it was a part of the $30 bundle with the car charger and invisible shield. At the register it turns out that the rep gave me the wrong case and I bought it anyways. Early today I got my max coverage Invisible Shield installed and returned that case along with the Shield they had sold me.
The case is decent looking, definitely much better than most of the cases out now. I hope this phone gets the kind of variety in accessories that the iPhone does.

I think this specific case is different unless the picture Best Buy is using is incorrect. The cut outs are different. Also, Seidio themselves said in another forum that Best Buy has a Platinum Series case not made by them.
If the OP can post some pics we'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
There are two different Platinum Series case designs for the EVO @ Best Buy sold 3 different ways. The have the Seidio style horizontal split by itself, Seidio style with holster, and one styled like the Bodyglove case (vertical split). I picked up the Bodyglove style case - it's "rubberized" all the way around and felt lined inside.
:S thats expensive why dint you go to sprint? the body glove for the evo looks awesome I saw it at best buy and i dint like the back cover while the one in sprint i was and it was like 24 dollars.. and online its 19.99

bsim85 posted a tiny pic, but here are some large ones:
It's OK. I've still got the original "screen protector" on my phone because I haven't tried it at work (I'm not going to open the Invisible Shield or 16GB memory card I bought until I verify the phone works everywhere I need it to, but the case comes in a resealable package so no worries there).
The back of the case is hard and has felt lining inside. The front part of the case (it splits around the edge of the device like the Body Glove) is more rubbery. It comes apart the same was as the Body Glove, with a coin in a corner slot. The camera lens is recessed a couple of millimeters from the edge of the case. When on it's back the case rests not on the overall rubberized surface but on the smooth edges of the case around the camera opening and the bottom ports so it could still slide around in your car this way. Will I keep it long term? Probably not. Will it suffice until something better comes along? Yes.
EDIT...
I should note that the case doesn't look as blue-grey in real life as it does in the pictures.
I bought the case at Best Buy and it's great. Radioshack had Zaggs for $15 plus the 20% off accessories if you got it in the morning. I got the case at Best Buy and it's excellent. A bit pricey, but one of the better cases I've seen. Plus the silicon cases sometimes get caught up in your pocket and harder to pull out.

Is this A EVO case?
cause it seems to have more cut outs in the side pic than the EVO has buttons on the side.
yeah, i went to BB on friday and there was a sign showing that the Platinum case, the invisashield screen protector, and a rocket dog car charger were on sale all together for $45.
the case is overall is very nice, i like how the screen is recessed and how the case does not get stuck in your pocket like a silicone case does.
i think it was a good deal for the money, seeing as how i needed car charger because the hero uses a mini usb port.

I bought one from BB (with holster for $34.99 (giftcard)), and it def doesn't look like that. Mine's a much more rubbery look / feel. It's black. The cut-out's on yours seem much more prominent and I don't have one on the lower right side (why is one even there? just the phone volume on the upper part of the right side...).
Strnage
I got slider case instead of the snap case. Reason being if you drop your phone on a corner, the slider case isn't going to split open like an egg leaving the yolk (EVO) splattered on the ground.

I dont know what Seidio is trying to pull but on the inside of the fake phone cutout (on the Platinum) it clearly states Seidio, Inc, Houston Texas.
Plus, I ordered a Innocase II and compared the two side by side. They are identical. Save you cash and buy the Platinum.

As I stated previously there are (2) different case designs from Best Buy - one like the Seidio Innocase and one like the Body Glove. The one I pictured is indeed for the EVO (it came with a "fake" cardboard EVO inserted in it). The "extra" port cutout you're seeing is how you take it off the phone - you insert a coin and twist it to pop the two halves apart (JUST like the Body Glove case).

Video Review: SGP Ultra Thin Air case!!

Hi Guys,
Got my hands on the SGP Ultra Thin Air case, a thin snap-on style case that won't add much bulk/weight to your phone and is for those users that like to keep their devices slim. You can watch the full review below:
Capsule series is much better. No top and bottom part is big failure.

Looks similar to the $3 case from ebay, is sgp just repackaging these cases?
Look poor with finger prints.
All snap on style cases will look similar, cutouts are a little different and the Ultra Thin features a soft touch back.

I have the Thin Air case as well, along with the Glas, both are excellent products, thought a bit overpriced.
The Thin Air is a quality case, I am currently in Hong Kong, so I've tried on all the generic cases at the electronic malls as well. The cheap generic ones doesn't fit the best, there is always a creak or slight warp on the sides of the case that compresses as you squeeze the sides, which to me is annoying. The "better" branded ones are on par with the SGP, but the price is also similar to SGP, I rather buy from a well known brand.
I've had two cheap generic ones before I bought the case mate barely there and the SGP Thin Air, both cheap cases broke a few days after when I took the case on and off.
The Thin Air does leave finger prints, but I don't care too much since it is only the back, and it can be wiped away. The most important part for me is a super thin case with minimal protection that doesn't break easily. So far (fingers crossed), SGP has done it.

Thanks for sharing, I agree with most of what you have to say, however I feel the case itself just isn't for me. SGP however has been releasing some quality products for the GS2 (as expected) - and I'm excited for what they are bringing next.

I agree, this case isn't for most people, since the normal person that wants a case would want more protection than what the Thin Air has to offer, plus like your video mentioned, there is no top and bottom coverage. But out of the cases I have, I like this the most, the black color blends in with the phone.
Thank you for the review videos, you are doing a great job, very clear voice, smooth presentation, no "umms" or "uhhs," or any tongue smacking. Keep it up! It is because of you that I bought the Glas, which I love!

I was really excited for this case due to it's look and how minimal it is, but after just 3 days I need to stop using it.
The stickers you place along the sides are constantly moving. They slide up and out of the case somehow, so you need to slide them back down, which leaves a trail of sticky residue.
Also, there is one spot on the back my phone just above the battery
cover that is now damaged due to the case rubbing against it. There are scratches and an area where the color has rubbed off.
My phone is in worse condition after a few days in this case than from a week without any case.

I did not, but it was bought directly through their site, not a 3rd party.
Don't get me wrong, the case is beautiful and the damaged area is a lot smaller than the damaged area would be if you were to drop it on concrete without this case. I just want to let others know that this happens as others could be even more OCD about their phone condition than I am. SGP knows the inside of this case scratches your phone, that's why they include the stickers. Unfortunately this one spot was missed, either due to oversight, or it is too small of a location to place a sticker.
I had the Captivate before this phone using a Body Glove case. While it is the best case I have ever used on a phone, it also scratched up the top and bottom of my phone pretty bad. It's a pretty common thing with the harder cases.

Nope, just personal emergencies that required me to be out of town for a week. I'll get some pics after work tonight.
I received my Ultra Thin Air Infinity White today and I have to say I'm quite disappointed.
The case doesn't fit that well. If I lay the phone on a table and press down on the left or right side the phone sinks deeper into the case. Without pressure the edges of the case are almost even with the screen's surface, it's only if I press down on the phone that the edges rise above the screen.
Is this a flawed specimen or are all the Ultra Thin Air cases like this?

Casemate tough case

Got a Casemate tough case for my one x had one on my DHD for two years and its still going strong fits good offers two parts of protection rubber inner case then hard plastic outer case protects the camera all cutouts are fine screen protected as front lip raised will post pics later

Looking good, Casemate make good products. I had their Barely There case on my DHD
Yo,
I had one of these bad boys for my Incredible S so ordered one a few days back for the One X.
I've just realised something. With this case on, you lose the connectivity of the rear docking port (little metal dots) or I presume you do anyway.
E.G you wouldn't be able to use this dock I don't think
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/htc-cr-s650-desktop-cradle-with-speakers-for-htc-one-x-p34381.htm
Can anybody clarify?
You can't use a dock with any case, so no point having holes
As HTC whore says you cant use any case with a docking station you would just remove the case to use the dock then put it back on when going out with your phone
I have this case, so hard to take it off!
Picked one up from the Blackpool store this morning, will be taking it back for a refund tomorrow. Daren't even fit it, it's that tight a fit. If it's tight to get on I doubt I'll get it off. The phone is pretty slim and I have visions of snapping it !!
It's not hard to take off at all, I've put mine on and off a few times
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Indeed, the case isn't hard to take on and off. If anything I had to take it on and off only to line up the grooves for the speaker hole and made sure the edges weren't squished down. The case is nice but only drawback is how much lint/dust it attracts on the rubber/silicon part.
I agree only drawback is the dust etc om the rubber section but for the protection it offers I am happy

That's a very generalised statement, and you come accross pretty arrogant if I'm honest ........ If thats true why do the official HTC cases have a cut out for the Pogo port ?
Also, Mine isn't straight on the bottom edge. Is anybody elses like this?
The hard plastic part is almost wavey on the bottom, this stops the soft rubber sitting properly - Got pictures if needs be

I have emailed you guys but I bought the case from Amazon so not sure where I stand there.
I have also noticed - the "Lock/Unlock" rubber on the inner case does not 100% line up with the actuall button on my phone. I would say its around 3-4mm over to the left, It still covers around half the button so it does press but it's not as responsive as it should be and I am always pressing my button on one side (Could eventually cause a problem)
I am begining to think my case may be a clone - Another thing I have notice is the hard plastic part is nowhere near as grippy as my last case mate case. It's kinda slippy.
Build quality on my last case mate case was amazing - this one is below average , at best.
I tried to get it on video - in the loo at work, sorry about that haha.
I had to use front camera and a mirror as I don't have another camera on me atm
I marked the CaseMate button A and the phone button B
It's quite hard to see but you can make it out

Genuine Samsung Galaxy S3 TPU Case Review - Blue

Youtube Link
Yet another video review, I do quite like this case. Any feedback is more than welcome.
What's peoples experience on scratching?
I bought a similar generic TPU case from amazon, although it is OK, I am worried about the amount of dust that collects around the rim of the case/phone.
I have had bad experience before with gel cases, which I think are exactly the same as these TPU cases, with my Galaxy S1, where lots of dust got trapped under the case and eventually caused alot of scratching/abrasion on the shiny plastic case of the phone.
What is everyone elses opinion on these types of cases, or any cases for that matter for getting dust trapped under it?
I have just purchased some of those XtremeGuard full body protectors for my S3, but to my disappointment they do not cover the silver rim around the phone. Has anyone else had scratches on the silver bit yet? If so how easily is it scratched?
Overall I do sound a bit OCD, but I hate getting scratches on my phone as it just wrecks the resale value!

Genuine or not?
Hi Oli2k.
I bought this case from chinese seller on ebay.
I just think mine is not genuine cause there are no rubber caps in the flaps that go INTO connectors. Also there is a text "GalaxySIII" on the back of the case.
I am pretty sure this is not genuine case but the seller claims it is.
In a picture of the case on cover of the packaging is also a text "GalaxySIII".
Someone else have it?

Here is also the link for item I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/13072419758...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_5283wt_1163
Product pictures are genuine(same as mobilefun), but the case itself is different.
I bought mine from amazon.com and there are no flaps that go INTO the connector, just covering the connector...
as for the GS3 print, I think the international version of the case has the print, because the battery cover does not have the GS3 logo.... the US version does not have the logo on the case as there is already one on the battery cover....
Yours looks genuine to me

Review: full coverage tpu case.

This is review of the full coverage tpu case.
In another thread I did state that this case is flimsy, and I wasn't really interested in it, in shenzhen when using it, it seems a good idea, but the lid did not lay flat and just kept on popping out up from the main body.
The lid has about 4-5 notches that are held down with groves at the rim of the main body.
the lid also has a piece of clear plastic, similar to the materials used for id holders, but not as flexible.
the lid is a anti-glare type with fine specks of glitter, in china and hong kong we call this diamond coat.
the front camera and two sensor on the lid is not covered with glitter, but is made clear through the plastic, but not cutout.
May be the version that I have tested out in hong kong was a better quality one and not the sample that was tested in china, and the lid did seem to fit right into the body without the lid trying to force itself out and it fit rather well.
The case itself has cut out for the two speakers, home button, two mic's, headset socket and the USB socket.
The volume and power button are covered.
The back of the case is glossy finished, whiles the rest of the case is matt, soft/fine grainy finished( not like the rock case reviewed in this forum).
It probably look better if the whole case was the matt finished and not glossy.
Now, many member might want to know if the touch features can be used with the lid on, well after using it today the touch sensitvity is very responsive, the clear plasic is about 0.3mm-0.4mm thick, my phone also had another clear Protector on it was supplied with my nillkin case that I bought last month.
Just purchased this in hong kong for HKD 30, the shop put the wrong price, should of been HKD 50 like the rest of the colours, the price was covered with a tag stating a new item, i just took the tag off to find the price sticker for HKD 30.
so far I have seen this i 3 packaging, this will also reflect the price.
plain plastic bag
paper box with front see through.
The one I have with photo's below includes a free protector.
updated with actual photo's.
So did the ones you ordered stay closed properly? I see in one of the side shots that the front wasn't closed all the way.

photo 6 was taken with it open to show the notches, but didn't show up too well.:victory:, see the 13th photo.
Ah. I see. The shimmery screen doesn't effect screen clarity or viewing ability?

yes it does, it's like an anti glare with specks of fine glitter.
and after further testing it's best to have the screen protector removed( the sticky one).
I find it very unusual that the screen is very responsive due to the thickness of the lid and the home key is little bit lower than the protector lid which does prevent acidental pressing.

found it on here www.taobao.cn. theres a couple for 3,000 HKD
So do you recommend this case? It seems like you don't like it after reading the review. Also how much thickness does it add? I know tpu cases are usually minimal.

At first I didn't really like it, and the fitting was all out, may be it was a sample, but I did make a purchase of one from a local shop, and it did fit pretty well, the case isn't that thick either. The only bad thing is, if you don't like anti glare screen, this is out.
