[Q] Epic Touch+Icecream OR Galaxy Nexus+JB - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

ok , first up phones will be used on a normal 3G network , not LTE and stuff.
right i am confused atm , using a S1.
used a epic touch for a few hours and loved it ,
but now i am in a dilemma over which phone to get from among Galaxy Nexus and Epic Touch.
can you guyz help me decide , my usage will be normal , No gaming or once a while may be , loads of surfing , emails , calls , smses , need decent battery life .
i am still inclined towards S2 epic touch owing to following observations ( i may be wrong so gimme some margin of error )
first up didnt find nexus as appealing in looks as is s2
its screen space is far lesser as compared to s2 as a lot of area is taken up by the nav bar in nexus
also the nexus screen looks smaller in width as compared to s2 despite being bigger in size ( atleast to me )
the processor of s2 is superior as compared to the type of processor in nexus , there was visible lag on home screens on nexus while a live wallpaper was being used
the camera quality is better in epic and i need camera coz i like to take snaps every now and then of my kids.
battery is abysmal on nexus ( at least thats what i have heard ) , and as far as JB is concerned when you are rooted you can install JB in a jiffy on S2 too
thanks for reading
waiting for responses.

Epic touch plus GB.

Thanks no better combo than epic touch and EL29

I had a Sprint Nexus for a little while, but I sold it and came back to my E4GT. I've run Calk's 3.0 GB ROM on it for a long time, but the latest CM10 JB ROM seems stable enough now. Get the Epic Touch and you can run GB, ICS, or JB - best of all worlds!

Epic 4G Touch all daaay!
e4gt+cm10 jb.. ridiculous speeds-. boot up time is like 18-21sec., google chrome is retarded fast, gps locks in seconds.. crazy crazy good phone

This thread is likely to be biased, you are in the epic forums after all.

I too would go with the e4gt over a CDMA nexus... I'll take a gsm nexus over both all day though....

Because the CDMA nexus receives updates via carrier due to the proprietary CDMA blobs needed, hence they do not have official aosp support from Google. The difference being an update to jb the day after Google io for gsm nexuses compared to the sprint one which got it what, late last week... personally if I'm getting a nexus device I want my carrier out of the update picture, and official aosp support so it'll be super easy to compile my own aosp/cm/aokp/etc... roms...
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

Depends on how you feel about touchwiz compared to aosp.
My mom got the galaxy nexus for t-mobile and at first I was envious but then I used it and was unimpressed. Sure it was fast but Samsung has spent a lot of time making the OS easier to use and google has less experience
If my phone were more of a toy than a tool I might feel differently but I most definitely need it as a tool.
So I vote e4gt.

I don't hate touch wiz as much as many of the users do, and I agree its pretty simple as well. So no aversions there.
I did my own research and found that nexus's hardware ain't good as s2.
I am now totally inclined towards PS2 as well.
I know its kinna kiddish to ask but why do people say that black s2 works better than white. What's the basis of this comment apart from the fact that white gets scratched quickly.
Regards and thanks to all for chipping in.
GWizzing on beautifully and freakin loving it.

I sold my epic touch and have a gsm galaxy nexus and a straight talk sim on the way. Tired of sprints horrible network and the epic touch not being officially supported by cyanogenmod. I know the devs work hard but I am looking forward to having a true aosp device.

I have a black and my wife has the white. There is NO difference other than color.
As far as the OP, I've messed around with my bosses VZW nexus, it doesn't compare to the E4GT. And don't listen to the gingerbread nazis. There is nothing wrong with ICS. JB on the other hand isn't quite there yet for daily driver status.
I'm not going to argue the merits of ICS here, just saying it's not as bad as a small group of very vocal people make it out to be. Lots of very good roms are available for ICS, where GB development is pretty much totally dead.

ok
got to compare both the phones today.
all i can say that apart from a moderately better screen , the galaxy nexus is nowhere near S2, and i am saying this after trying out many things on both the handsets.
Didnt like the look and feel of Nexus , too bland ,
S2 is pretty sleek and sexy
ran a live wallpaper on both and did home screen scolling , lol exynos processor kills the T whatever processor is there in nexus.
and those who are betting on a fast update , LOL the updates are pushed via sprint if i am correct so they can never hit the phone before 2 or 3 months
so I am done : S2 that too white for me.
thanks guyz , love the XDA community

Why not the S3? Better than both of those.

good point , but somehow if i wanna go to S3 then would rather go to Note 2.
and S2 am getting for the right price as well

My GF has the Verizon Gnex with Codename(Android) JB 4.1.1 on it. I just got this Sprint E4GT and I'm running CM10 alpha 5.3.
The question comes down to hardware or software. The Gnex with CNA 4.1.1 ROM is amazing. You can do so much with it and it's rock stable. Its CPU/GPU combo aren't as fast as the E4GT but you said you're not playing games.
The 720p SAMOLED on the Gnex is really nice to surf on.
Plus, you don't have to worry about any Odin crap when flashing and updating. It's so much easier and less complicated.
Go look in the Gnex forums, they have 3-5x the developer support of this phone. I also have CNA 4.1.1 running on a Nexus S and pretty dang smooth considering how old the hardware is. You can't beat the software future-proofness of a Nexus phone.
I also used to own an HTC Evo and HTC Evo 3D. Both HTC were easier to flash than the Galaxy line. You could easily interchange kernels and ROMs without any complexity or worries about bricking your phone (on both HTC and Nexus). What is up with this Odin thing?
But, if you want better CPU/GPU, the E4GT is better, but the screen isn't as good as the Gnex 720p screen.
My ideal phone would be a 5" Nexus. C'mon Santa Google, ring in the new year and shove it up Apple's bunghole!

hmmm.. now i donno i am havin second thoughts , although i justy love S2 , but one thing constantly bugging me is that i am gonna buy an older phone i guess just about a year older.
as far as hardware is concerned well , i want my phone to be super smooth , with 0 lag , i mean i would hate lag even scrolling thru the youtube videos
larger screen is a myth in nexus as the nav bar effectively negates the 4.6 size , may be makes it a little lesser than epic T.
the other thing that is making me think is the display quality , i know that SAmoled Plus is better any day , and Gorilla glass makes it super awesome in Epic T ,
whereas the higher resolution is the only advantage i can see in Nexus , but without the PLUS and with oleophobic coating it loses the points that it scores. ( as far as my thinking goes )

Although i have taken the plunge and got s2
but a few of my pals are in the same boat and i am not able to convince them.
Post your views about my query folks
regards

Will this phone ever get as smooth as the SII ?

Ok, I have been with my Verizon-Nexus for 5 days now, having come from Sprint and the Epic 4G Touch Galaxy SII.
My Galaxy SII was rooted with the best ROM by Calk. Phone was ****ing crazy fast, and smooth as hot butter, ZERO lag whatsoever. You just barely touched the phone and it did what you command in 1/100th of a second
Now I have the Galaxy-Nexus, tried it stock, and then with a couple of the most popular ROM's + kernels, and stock or ROM'd this Nexus just has lag in areas I was not expecting. And the colors of the screen are not as vibrant and popping like the GSII. But my biggest gripe is how laggy this phone feels, it is pretty shocking, just open and close the app drawer, there is an ever so slight hiccup when it zooms in and out, almost a slight shake or stutter, for just a split second. But on my GS2 it opened before you hit the button, you just thought it and bam it opened, was that fast.
Scrolling and swiping between screens, is not as fluid as the GS2, there can be just a tiny bit of lag on the swipe of the Nexus, where the GS2 was like flowing water smooth. What I mean is, go to your furthest screen, then press the home key for it to take you back, there can be a little jitterbug lag on the Nexus for like 1/2 a sec, but on the GS2 it is warp speed factor 9 fast.
Battery life, just no comparison whatsoever, the GS2 could go 40+ hours on light, and 16 hours on full blast heavy day with like 4 hours on screen display. Nexus is not even in the same league. Hopefully Google updates and improved ROM's will fix this eventually.
Enough *****ing I do love the Nexus, pure ICS is awesome, and no GS2 ROM can come close, and the LTE network and better carrier overall compared to Sprint is why I jumped ship. The high res 720p screen is amazing, as much as a loved the GS2 screen, the high detail on the Nexus is awesome. The build quality on the Nexus feels very solid, and just a mature and artist design, compared to the plastic cheap GS2 feel.
The Nexus feels like Android has grown up, and improved greatly. Just I have a beef with the lag, and chop in this phone. If it came out after the GS2, and is running the latest and greatest OS, it should blow the GS2 out of the water, not be a step backwards in performance. Why didn't Samsung + Google think this out a little better, I mean build it off the GS2 architecture, use the same hardware from the GS2, but with the high res 720p screen, and 4.0 ICS. It seems in the hardware area they dropped the ball or something ?
The screen is more realistic in terms of color compared to the over saturated screen of the SII. Also, I can get two days on light usage easy.. and 20 hours with 3.5 screen on as well.. I also don't have the lag you speak of :/

Try bigxie's rom and pair it with Franco's kernel.
If you still think the phone is laggy, then you should probably go back to the sgs2.
sorry, hit reply button to fast. you are forgetting one EXTREME major difference between the TWO devices.
the nexus does NOT have a DUAL CORE processor.

You must be thinking about the nexus s as the galaxy nexus most definitely does have dual core.
The biggest diff between the s2 and the gn is that the gn has a display resolution of 1280x720 which means the gpu has to push 2.5x more pixels than the s2.

Hes talking about the GS2 Exynos dual core vs nexus TI Omap dual core. Exynos is known to be a beast in the mobile processor. Iphone 4s dual core may be the only better dual core at the moment. But im sure the next best thing is just around the corner as always... tegra 3 samsungs own exynos quad core etc.
so i just sold my s2.... to buy a GNEX... lol was the extra cash worth it? lol it comes in mail tomorrow im stoked!
Unfortunately the GN has more pixels to push with a slower GPU.
I swear the verizon version must be different cause i get smooth as butter on the gsm version. And we see lots of complaints of lag on the verizon one.

With this ROM the phone is much smoother, I don't mean to exaggerate, this is a fast and bad ass phone, don't get me wrong.
Just saying, if you have used a rooted and ROM'd Galaxy SII, that phone just seems fluid and smooth 110% of the time, where the Nexus is smooth 90% of the time if that makes sense.

I totally agree with you mate, SGS2 is a much faster and more responsive, and fluid phone than the Galaxy Nexus
Other than the high resolution of the screen straining the processor, I dont know what could be the reason.
However, BATTERY! I cant offer any explanation, how the heck can there be such a major (almost 50%) drop in the performance from SGS2 to GN just on battery? I mean WTF!
i have no idea what u guys are smoking , but Gnex has been the smoothest android ive used ,and i have friends with SG2 and note on custom roms.
if u want faster animations and according to u u consider that as "Smoothness" just download spare parts and make all transitions and animations super fast.
PS: Im on AOKP milestone2 with franco's kernel with nova launcher .
0 lag or hipcups till now blows my friends GS2 away in fluidity and scrolling.
could be because you used crap ones earlier really, and ive seen not one or few MANY sgs2 being more responsive, faster in moving across screens and much more fluid in experience.
just go and check the number of threads on here where going back using the home screen is jittery for users, and the screen comes with small patches being rendered and then the full page, it is so stupid to see that!!
maybe you're the one smoking here.
---------- Post added at 02:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:33 PM ----------
also just go and check quadrant, the GPU rendering performance is so patchy, the FPS is a paltry 10-20 or something
and compare that with SGS2 - thats so clearly flawless!! something like 50-60fps
just go and check on youtube on the comparison video which clearly shows that.
Quadrant isn't optimised for pics yet. Maybe you should download a touchwiz rim for the nexus lmao

Totally agree, I have the same config except with the apex kernel and it is close to being like my SGS2. I prefer the physical size of the nexus though. I can't wait for a stable ics build for the SGS2 so I can compare both.
Here's my quadrant score running bigxie rom and franco kernel. I'm OCed to 1.35ghz.

Never Going Back To iPhone

I've been an apple user for quite a long time in the mobile area (ipods and the phone) and recently switched to galaxy s3 because the android os seemed very interesting and it is. A lot of diverse development going on in the xda-forum and elsewhere.
I've been using the phone for the last week and recently tried to export stuff from my iPhone today and to my surprise the grip and feel was really weird. The iPhone was tiny compared to the S3 and I thought to myself how the f**k did I manage to do all the things I needed to on the small screen. The S3 is still getting used to from the inner software (mostly) and the holding the device. I can fully grasp the iphone and cover it up with my fist while I cant with the S3 and the screen of the S3 is just fantastic. Thinking back on playing the games on the iPhone is funny as I don't get a cramp from playing on the S3 compared to the iPhone.
I've read rumors about the new iPhone being longer in length but width wise is the same. That to me is a huge mistake as the width needed to be increased and not the length.
Anyways thats just me blabbing about how I feel about the S3, coming from a iPhone user. Made a great decision.
welcome to android!

I feel the same way - left the iphone for the S3 after being locked down with IOS for 4 years, even with that giant scree the S3 feels much better in hand than the 4/4S. Could not stand the square edges and much prefer the rounded edge of the S3 or 3GS for that matter -
I can actually hear people too with this phone - lol

The funny thing is with an otterbox case on the s3 feels way smaller than an iPhone 4s with an otterbox, it was like a little brick and the s3 feels great.
I was a long time iPhone user. I get the 4s even tho I was disappointed with it. I never liked it. had to wait 3 months for a jailbreak got it and still wasn't happy. Was just waiting for an Android to wow me I got the HTC one x on launch day and bricked it after a month my fault. Then goe gs3 on launch day. I love this phone its everything I ever wanted in a phone and more. Android 4 life!!!

It was a suggestion too from a friend. When I had the iPhone I couldn't use it without Jailbreaking it. There was just no way to operate it in the stock state. As with rooting Jailbreaking did have it's plus and cydia was great. Still I wanted more and my friend...at the time had the new evo rooted....and when I saw the endless possibilities, flashing different Rom's I was sold. Matter a fact I sold my iPhone and bought me the evo and never looked back.

The One X finally won a comparison with the GS3

In the Engadget summer buying guide they chose the One X as the top phone. Enjoy the one publication win. :highfive:

so 'finally' is a bit redundant
you people are crazy, the OP is an SGS3 fan and he thinks we are supposed to be fooled by the stupid thread title
no its not one, the One X was actually favored by over than 50% of the online media, although this is not the first time Engadget said this
in their SGS3 review they talked more about the One X than the s3
i don't get it seriously people, do you suffer from a inferiority complex that force you to make such ridiculous posts in the One X forum?
The One X beats the SGS 3 in everything except the GPU and Battery, there is nothing more to say here!

Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD app
Guys, it was the HTC One XL that won the comparison. Snapdragon S4 is awesome with excellent performance, great battery life and LTE.
The international tegra3 OneX didn't win anything. Unfortunately, It's a terrible chip set with low performance, low battery life, causes "overheat" battery status frequently, runs on an old Linux kernel, and slows to a crawl when you fill up the storage.
Comparing the American hoxl with the American sgs3: they have the same hardware except the sgs3 has double the ram, which means that it doesn't have the multitasking problems of the hoxl.
However, if you ignore the poor multitasking, the software on the HTC side is imo better than touchwiz when it comes to look and feel - which was one of engadgets reasons for preferring it. They praised the inclusion of a multitasking button instead of a menu button which is funny because all of the custom roms have remapped the buttons!, so they must really enjoy seeing the 3 dot button wasting screen space everwhere
At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Software wise, I'm looking forward to a stable CM10 on my gs3. So for me only hardware matters.
so really what should we do in here?
we need a mod that can really take action
this is getting ridiculous

If u think that makers of GTX 680 (Nvidia) can be crushed so easily then u r wrong..
U have a pentile display which has ink marks n black clipping n color banding issues..We HOX owners don't even piss on such displays coz the color of it is also appear grey on it. .
The first thing u look at n keep looking at the whole time is the screen n when its that ****ty then nobody gives a damn..
The S3 is officially the ugliest looking phone ever. N this is supported by Android Police,Engadget etc..
The support of tegra 3 is gonna be way Better coz its on so many devices now including Nexus 7. . N with Microsoft surface also coming out with tegra 3 we might e able to port windows 8 to HOX. .
Nobody gives a damn to exynos. .
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I looked at a SGS3 display vs the HOX and whilst the HOX display is sharper, brighter and has better colors, the SGS3 display is pretty good, you hardly notice it's pentile unless you go looking for it. The color banding is not a display issue but a software choice made by Samsung to increase sharpness, it is called mdnie and the SGS2 at least had many different profiles (for different apps/lighting situation), so there never would be banding in the galery

Apparently its not a software issue..in the pentile arrangement the sub pixels are shared between pixels..Supercurio is a developer here n he tried to fix this issue for months on Galaxy Note but couldn't even improve it. Let alone fixing it n ultimately he gave up n the thread was closed. .
N u r comparing it to S2 !!!!!!!!... s2 has an RGB display n is way better than Note n s3 crap. .
N s2 is the best phone from Samsung's stable til now ..

Finally pushed the buy now button!

I've been lurking in this forum ever since I got my Nexus 7 and realized what a difference pure Google makes. I love Jellybean and Google Now and really wanted that experience on a phone. I was going back ad forth between the Galaxy S III (better camera) and the Nexus all month. T Mobile wants an insane price for an upgrade to the S III, the lowest price I could get was 229 if I waited until August 24th. I read some more and found out Google Wallet won't work, tethering would probably be blocked and many S III owners are unhappy. I hope I made the right choice.
You got in right on the money dude ....

Well I'm always gonna get the dev phone (nexus) upgrades come first and easy to customize. If your not running a jb rom yet I recommend vicious jb for stock experience....looking for more customization take your pick. I have never thought of the gnex camera as bad, sure it only has 5 map instead of 8 but the camera quality to me is pretty good. Tc

You made a good choice with this and the nexus 7 you will be in great shape, honastly I know other phones have better hardware but this phone is still great.
Don't forget to call T-Mobile once your out of contract to lower your bill

I just upgraded to a used Galaxy Nexus from a Thunderbolt. Running Jellybean, this phone is amazing. Plus, I feel very confident I will get early updates with the Nexus versus the asinine support of the Thunderbolt. Welcome to the Gnex club!

Wise decision. S3 is a nice camera. GNex is a nice cellphone.
Good choice. I had the same choice about 2 months back. It was between wait a week for the s3 to come out or get the galaxy nexus for a penny on amazon. Guess which one I went with :silly:

Some months ago I had this question to myself: Galaxy SIII has a good camera and it seems that is a regular phone, since cm is on the way, what do I need? A regular cell with a good camera or an awesome phone with a regular camera? So I have a GN
Im saving for one but i have a minimum wage job so i dont know how long i'd have to wait
You made the right choice.
I was off contract with TMobile and waited for the HTCs to come out and they got the S .....
I then decided to wait for the SG3 and the TMobile price was just stupid.
Now I'm still with TMobile but on the $30 plan. Its great!
I got my phone already, 2 days after I ordered! This is officially the nicest phone I ever owned! None of my worries were reality, the screen is great, the camera is actually quite nice (much better than my MyTouch 4G) and I spent hours setting it up and installing my favorite apps before the battery complained. My only complaint is the volume - it's lower than I'd hoped for but all the pluses outweigh that. Thanks for all the encouragement; you all were right - it's a great phone!
You bought the GN over the GS3? 1. GS3 is light years ahead of the GN. And since it is a galaxy phone, it will get as much attention as the GN when it comes to CM. You are going to be running CM either way, right? 2. When the next Nexus is right around the corner!?
if it was the international version of the S3 vs the GNEX, i would pick the S3 on hardware advantage alone but the US version is neutered:
- dual core instead of quad (not a huge difference in real life but still sucks)
- 1gb ram vs 2gb
also, the display is not a significant upgrade over the GNEX since its the same 720p res on the pentile matrix. those things considered, the US S3 is not worth the price premium over the GNEX
I also got a Nexus about a week ago, upgrading from an HTC Desire... Mind blowing difference. Also, I would pick the Nexus over the SIII seven days a week - who would want physical + capacitive buttons?!

Actually the US version has 2gb RAM, international has 1gb.
However I'll stick with nexus, I can actually get timely updates or flash pretty much any ROM I want and have everything working.
Now if the S3 was $350 brand new with factory warranty off contract it might of been a different story since I had never had a nexus device, but now I wouldn't trade it.

My sister has the GS3 and compared to the Nexus I don't see much difference except hers runs ICS and probably will for months, she paid more over the long term and is locked into a two year contract, it looks cheap and it has a physical home button (which I hate). The next Nexus is right around the corner; but I'm a student with a budget and it probably will cost much more than $349. I had to decide on the most efficient, and cost efficient, choices for my tech needs this year. I chose a Google Chromebook, a Nexus 7 and the GNex phone. After the price drops I may sell my GNex and upgrade if it's affordable and worth it - but I will never buy another carrier locked phone.
Exactly, the next Nexus will not be $350. Plus will you be able to get it on the $30 TMobile plan?
I'm sure the SG3 is nice but I kinda like the low monthly bill and the GN is more than good enough for me.

You're absolutely going to love it. You couldn't have made a better choice. At $349 it's an incredible steal.

Is it smart to buy the galaxy nexus now?

I've been wanting the nexus for a long time now and am able to buy it. But i'm in doubt to buy it because the next in the nexus series is coming around soon (I think?)
I live in Belgium and it takes a while before the nexus is available here and the thing is I'm quite unhappy with the Phone I'm using right now. It's slow and buggy and I want jelly bean.
In oktober the nexus 7 Will finally launch here and I'm planning on buying it as my first tablet. This might temper my wanting the nexus Phone But do you People think it Will be long before it's announced?
Many greets

SD cards, even the highest performing ones, will never perform as fast or as stable as internal storage. That's the reason Nexus devices don't include one. Whether you think it should have one or not, Google does know what they are doing. I've never experienced any lag, either. I run stock 4.1.1 build JRO03U. Sprint variant. My battery life is also phenomenal.

Nah i tested from AOKP, to AOSP to CM10 to stock. Tested with Apex, Nova, Stock Launcher, Go Launcher EX any goddamn launcher available. From ICS all the way to jellybean. Didn't beat S3 in many ways. My old S2 works better than this thing im currently holding. Didn't want to hurt your feelings but this piece of device does lags even with stock kernel. Don't mention franco, faux, lean, fugumod, i tried it all. Am i doing it wrong? S3 is on my right hand S2 is on my table and Samsung Galaxy Nexus is on my left hand. I tested this device for two weeks already. Maybe im doing it wrong? On the other hand Samsung other devices running on JellyBean too especially S3 with microsd slot for my own mp3 collections. Didn't lag and response fast without the need of custom kernels. Tested 1 to 1 with Samsung S3 stock Jellybean with stock kernel... better wayyyyy better in battery life than this piece of crap im holding. Run any benchmark tools in the market you will see it yourself Samsung Galaxy Nexus is nowhere. Go to Google Play download an app, minimize, open up another app. It lags like hell when Google Play is installing the app. Many more i couldn't be bothered to say. Don't waste money on this device.

You ARE doing something wrong if you think this phone is "a piece of crap". Of course, its all relative. I'm holding my gnex in my right hand and my friends s3 in my left hand. Home screen scrolling was more laggy on the s3, apps opened exactly the same on both devices. Tested s3 1 to 1 with gnex jellybean...wayyy better then this piece of crap I'm holding in my left hand.

Besides, if this phone doesn't lag someone wouldn't make LAGFIX for this phone in the Galaxy Nexus Android Development.

The point he's making is that your experience is not the same as the mass majority. Most love their Galaxy Nexus. I've personally seen A LOT of people announce on this forum that they returned their S3 and came back to the Galaxy Nexus because it actually outperformed it greatly in their opinions. Many, many people. You came in and announced based on your experience alone that it is a crappy device and the OP should not get one. Your experience is uncommon and shouldn't be the basis for his decision.
I am sorry you've had such a bad experience. I have personally pit my Galaxy Nexus against the S3, both on stock, and have first hand seen my device run circles around it. The only thing I see as a plus with the S3 are a few extra, albeit very nice features, but ones I do not see as enough to spend so much more for it than I did for my Galaxy Nexus.
My experience has been nothing but absolutely amazing. No fanboy, I promise. Complete honesty.

Well im a no fanboy of Samsung S2 or S3 too. As far as ROMS development of Galaxy Nexus i am very happy but my experience with it is really disappointing. Yes he shouldn't make his decision due to my experience alone. Im not forcing him either. Maybe i started off a little too harsh. I'm deeply sorry if i hurt anyone because of my frustration and anger with this device. Peace
Safe option
Better wait a little while longer as rumors of a new Galaxy nexus in the works from Google, maybe a refresh who knows theres nothing solid as far as the details of the new phone are concerned. If your looking for a solid phone thats fast on Jellybean but dont require a good camera then go for it.
The camera isn't "the best" but I wouldn't say it isn't "good". I think the camera is quite nice.

Well I wasn't asking if it's smart to buy a nexus becaus, s3 outperforms it. Gnex will always be better than any other Samsung device for me cause of crappy touchwiz. Even when u root ur bothered with it.
I'm a Google fanboy and my question is if it's smart to buy a Gnex close to a possible release of a Gnex 2. I don't want no ugly s3 with the stupid stupid home button and 2 ugly touch thingies. I want the Gnex and raw android.
Go back to the s3 forum please. If I'd buy an other Samsung I'd buy the note 2 cause that's a decent phone.
So I see people here telling me to wait for a release and other say just go for it.
I love the phone and its only 400 euros. (s3 600+, note 2 700+) might just buy it I tink. Uless someone here can tell me not to because.. (only reason I accept is for a new nexus or other. Can't break down the nexus for me)

I've been using The Gnex for a few months now, the only reason i bought it is because of the developer support and the sexy design (without the home buttons). Even if i knew the Gnex 2 would be out in the near future, it doesnt bother me as its still a great handset to buy at the current price. If battery is an issue there is a 2000Mah OEM battery from Samsung with back case that should do the trick.
All in all your not losing out even if you buy now as the Gnex 2 is only a rumor and nothing solid has been mentioned from Google or Samsung.
I will also buy it soon. I think that even if the new galaxy nexus comes out it will be more expensive than 350$. so, even if you wait, you will pay more money.
So in my opinion, if money isn't a problem for you, wait for the new nexus, but if it is, buy this one because this is a great phone for this price.

Lag..? What lag..? There is no lag. Never heard them, never see them. Plus, i have 2 friends, each having one x and s3, and still this baby is the smoothest among em. Of course hardware wise, i lose big time, but for the liquidity, u can always count on this.
Plus the lagfix is really kind of a 50/50 working. And its mostly for cm10 based rom, which i dont find any lag at all(my opinion). If u got the S3, they still use cm10 based rom mostly,so,still need the lagfix one way or another, but with the gnex, there is pure aosp if u dont really like cm10.
