Finally pushed the buy now button! - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've been lurking in this forum ever since I got my Nexus 7 and realized what a difference pure Google makes. I love Jellybean and Google Now and really wanted that experience on a phone. I was going back ad forth between the Galaxy S III (better camera) and the Nexus all month. T Mobile wants an insane price for an upgrade to the S III, the lowest price I could get was 229 if I waited until August 24th. I read some more and found out Google Wallet won't work, tethering would probably be blocked and many S III owners are unhappy. I hope I made the right choice.

You got in right on the money dude ....

Well I'm always gonna get the dev phone (nexus) upgrades come first and easy to customize. If your not running a jb rom yet I recommend vicious jb for stock experience....looking for more customization take your pick. I have never thought of the gnex camera as bad, sure it only has 5 map instead of 8 but the camera quality to me is pretty good. Tc

You made a good choice with this and the nexus 7 you will be in great shape, honastly I know other phones have better hardware but this phone is still great.
Don't forget to call T-Mobile once your out of contract to lower your bill

I just upgraded to a used Galaxy Nexus from a Thunderbolt. Running Jellybean, this phone is amazing. Plus, I feel very confident I will get early updates with the Nexus versus the asinine support of the Thunderbolt. Welcome to the Gnex club!

Fall in!

Wise decision. S3 is a nice camera. GNex is a nice cellphone.

Good choice. I had the same choice about 2 months back. It was between wait a week for the s3 to come out or get the galaxy nexus for a penny on amazon. Guess which one I went with :silly:

Some months ago I had this question to myself: Galaxy SIII has a good camera and it seems that is a regular phone, since cm is on the way, what do I need? A regular cell with a good camera or an awesome phone with a regular camera? So I have a GN

Im saving for one but i have a minimum wage job so i dont know how long i'd have to wait

You made the right choice.
I was off contract with TMobile and waited for the HTCs to come out and they got the S .....
I then decided to wait for the SG3 and the TMobile price was just stupid.
Now I'm still with TMobile but on the $30 plan. Its great!

I got my phone already, 2 days after I ordered! This is officially the nicest phone I ever owned! None of my worries were reality, the screen is great, the camera is actually quite nice (much better than my MyTouch 4G) and I spent hours setting it up and installing my favorite apps before the battery complained. My only complaint is the volume - it's lower than I'd hoped for but all the pluses outweigh that. Thanks for all the encouragement; you all were right - it's a great phone!

You bought the GN over the GS3? 1. GS3 is light years ahead of the GN. And since it is a galaxy phone, it will get as much attention as the GN when it comes to CM. You are going to be running CM either way, right? 2. When the next Nexus is right around the corner!?

if it was the international version of the S3 vs the GNEX, i would pick the S3 on hardware advantage alone but the US version is neutered:
- dual core instead of quad (not a huge difference in real life but still sucks)
- 1gb ram vs 2gb
also, the display is not a significant upgrade over the GNEX since its the same 720p res on the pentile matrix. those things considered, the US S3 is not worth the price premium over the GNEX

I also got a Nexus about a week ago, upgrading from an HTC Desire... Mind blowing difference. Also, I would pick the Nexus over the SIII seven days a week - who would want physical + capacitive buttons?!

Actually the US version has 2gb RAM, international has 1gb.
However I'll stick with nexus, I can actually get timely updates or flash pretty much any ROM I want and have everything working.
Now if the S3 was $350 brand new with factory warranty off contract it might of been a different story since I had never had a nexus device, but now I wouldn't trade it.

My sister has the GS3 and compared to the Nexus I don't see much difference except hers runs ICS and probably will for months, she paid more over the long term and is locked into a two year contract, it looks cheap and it has a physical home button (which I hate). The next Nexus is right around the corner; but I'm a student with a budget and it probably will cost much more than $349. I had to decide on the most efficient, and cost efficient, choices for my tech needs this year. I chose a Google Chromebook, a Nexus 7 and the GNex phone. After the price drops I may sell my GNex and upgrade if it's affordable and worth it - but I will never buy another carrier locked phone.

Exactly, the next Nexus will not be $350. Plus will you be able to get it on the $30 TMobile plan?
I'm sure the SG3 is nice but I kinda like the low monthly bill and the GN is more than good enough for me.

Former galaxy s 2 owners, please read.

I just bought a sgs2 and decided to take out back within the 14 day period to get my money back and sit and wait for the Nexus to come to t-mobile in the states.
Now that's my plan. I have the sgs2 boxed up in my cart waiting till i get off work to take it back. Galaxy Nexus owners, am i making the right decision? If you have owned a Galaxy S 2 and ditched it for a Galaxy Nexus i want to hear you're thoughts on it. Thank you very much.

You don't have the 'true' galaxy S II. You have what many people consider the handicapped version with the Snapdragon chipset.
Take it back and get the Nexus. You'll be happy you did.

The Sprint version is pretty good, that's what I have now. Bigger screen, faster CPU, definitely better than the other variants I think.
So you guys think the t-mobile version is handicapped even though it has a 1.5gb dual core chip set?

The snapdragon chipset is slower than the Exynos/OMAP in all situations despite its higher clock speed.
Check some reviews on anandtech....
I have the GS II, and so far happy with it, is what we have now with Tmo. Would I want the Nexus? Maybe but do I want to wait how long? 60 or 90 days? no. As for the Hercules been handicapped? I don’t see any evidence of this: it has a faster processor and the screen is just beautiful, this phone is a Beast!! And the Nexus looks like something very different this time…

I just checked the nexus out (in manchester,uk). after playing with it for 15mins, cant really say its much of an upgrade on the sgs2 - especially once that gets ics
the sales guy really didnt know much about it other than it 'having the new android'. i knew more than him after playing with it (before all i knew was ics and curved screen)
I still have my brand new galaxy S 2 in the box all packed back up. I was 100% planning on taking it back to the tmo store. but now im wondering after the galaxy S 2 gets ice cream sandwich, then how do they compare to each other?
just the hardware side by side.
1.2 dual core vs 1.5 dual core?
4.65 vs 4.5 in screen.
5mp/1.3mp vs 8mp/2mp (back/front cameras).
come on galaxy nexus users. tell me what you think of this matchup. it is soo hard for me to make up my mind. if only i knew any idea timeframe of when tmo is gonna get the galaxy nexus/prime....hehe

Maybe you should check out the T-MO GS2 forums. A stock Hercules is not as fast as the 'real' Galaxy S2, but a big part of the problem isn't so much that the CPU is slower, but rather Samsung didn't optimized their TouchWiz stuff for that chipset so there is significant lag when using the UI. If you plan to root and rom, however, just browsing the T-Mo GS2 Dev forum here reveals that there are apparently a handful of roms for it that appear to be really really fast, so if you are going to root the phone it might end up being a beast for you.
Personally I'm pretty torn right now. I'm on Verizon and could just wait for the Nexus, but it has its flaws like any other phone and I'm tempted to pay almost 60 bucks a month less on a T-Mobile value plan vs. my VZW unlimited plan. If I did go that route I could import a Nexus, or the T-Mo GS2 is definitely an option b/c of the dev community. I also played with the Rezound a bit tonight and I think if that phone gets root/S-off it will be an absolute beast (already really nice stock)....so yeah I dunno what to tell you.

most shop staff seem to be completely clueless about the phone. Seems that Phones4u, O2, Carphone Warehouse, and 3-UK retail shops have given their staff absolutely no training or supplemental material for this phone.
they should give me a job, I know more about the handsets than they do! woman in the O2 shop said that my giffgaff SIM card would not work on a SIM-locked handset, even after I informed her that giffgaff is a wholly owned subsidiary of O2 and runs on the O2 network

you should've enquired about buying navicore or tomtom
i cannot speak on when tmo-us will get the nexus. could be anytime this year or next year. if you return the gs2 what will be your fall back phone until the nexus? also do not let the processor speed on the tmo gs2 deceive you. it is still slower than the exynos/omap. snapdragon is slower. i've had the the global gs2 and the tmo gs2 and there is glaring difference in speed to me. your decision depends on your tolerance to wait. Also keep in mind that being that the tmo gs2 uses a different chipset and (most likely) will not get ics as quickly as the global gs2 (opinion). i'm biting the bullet selling my tmo-gs2 and going to verizon dec 8th.

This just proves that benchmarks are completely inaccurate. The snapdragon chipset are the weakest chipset out of Exynos, OMAP and snapdragon. Nothing can hold a candle next to Samsung's Exynos chipset, with of course the exception of the few quad-core that are out. But if/when Samsung makes a quad-core Exynos, it's over with. They will make other quad-cores look like dual-cores. Samsung's build quality is very questionable but their hardware is a couple of steps ahead of all other OEM's.
Meh

Sadly, no. The MIUI phone has been heavily optimized. And one benchmark is hardly enough to prove anything.
Actually that benchmark is the only one I've seen where the Snapdragon S3's were not completely crushed by Exynos/OMAP. The only weaker chipset is the original Tegra2 which lacks NEON.

Droid life article on Gnex what is your opinion

I have to admit I have been a bit miffed at what Verizon has done with the Galaxy Nexus. I think it is a great phone but I think Verizon has stripped allot of what was special about being a nexus from the phone.
Apparently someone from Droid Life feels the same way. Here is their article on Verizon and the GNex
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/30/verizon-needs-google-opinion/
What are your thoughts?
This person is also wrong.. they complain about google wallet not being included but it isn't included on the GSM nexus.. it isn't part of AOSP. Also.. the only differences between Verizon and GSM include two semi useful apps that you can remove, a battery cover without Google, and no free tethering. It's not even a big deal.. most of the comments on that article bash the author anyways because he doesn't appear to know anything.

I still think the Galaxy Nexus is the best phone out there. It just seems like it is becoming less of what I thought a Nexus was. Maybe I had the wrong impression of what a Nexus was in the first place. I am no dev, I've just had the feeling it is headed in the wrong direction... slowly
Best phone I have owned.
Compared with the htc hero , desire HD , iPhone 4 , htc sensation and log optinus 3d I have owned.
+ points :
Screen , amazing simply. Colours are bright and vibrant , text and outlines are crisp. Can really tell a difference over the other phones.
Speed. No lagg what so ever , plays gta 3 perfectly whilst listening to music . Can have a little slowness if I am using a heavy live wallpaper.
Honeycomb inspired apps are fantastic. I own a Motorola Xoom which I have been totally impressed with , the music app especially are brilliant , as well as icons and multi task bars. Having it ported over to my mobile has blown my mind.
Battery life : there has been a fair few complaints but as I posted in a battery thread mine will last a day with heavy usage (will include screen shot at the end)
Quality , granted its plastic but it feels like a premium product. Doesn't have the look of the iPhone 4 but the full glass front , no button set up gives the phone a real sleek look. Back plate is flimsy but once its on it feels well built.
Camera: decent picture quality , zero shutter lagg is great . Haven't taken that many photos so I won't comment to much.
Connectivity , GPS and Bluetooth have all worked seamlessly as expected.
Only downsides :
Apps: some are still incompatible which is annoying , its new software so I wouldn't really count this as a issue as it will be fixed.
That's it really , bought this sim free for £529.99. Was unsure and really hoped I wouldn't be disappointed after I had spent that kind of money. I am happy to report that it is the best tech purchase I have made. Well done Samsung & Google , thoroughly impressed

that reporter from droid life needs to crawl out from under the rock...he is clueless!
The biggest compromise, imho, had nothing to do with Verizon, but was made by Google to Texas Instruments: the TI OMAP processor. The Samsung-made Exynos processor from the SGS2 is widely viewed as the best smartphone processor on the market, so why did Google force Samsung to compromise with the TI OMAP? Nothing against Texas Instruments (they have great products, by most accounts), but Google should have let Samsung make this phone with its own chips imho.
Yes, I definitely despise Verizon's treating of this phone as the ugly stepchild of its Android lineup (like they also did with the Fascinate), but, hey, we still have a top-shelf Samsung product on a reliable network, and with (not so reliable, but still better than HSPA) LTE to boot. Plus, it seems to me that Verizon's handling of the Gnex (and the Fascinate) is more a knock against Samsung than Google...

What do you mean by that? Subsidies in Europe are way better than the US lol. They often 100% subsidize the phone (even top-tier devices) for only a 2-year contract, and the service still costs 1/2 of what we pay in the US. AND the non-contract options are still amazing.
Don't kid yourself. We have it worse in every way here.

LG Nitro HD Owners, Please Help! Do you love your phone? Upgrading - need input

So guys, simple as that. I'm upgrading soon. I am wondering if any of you would have chosen a different phone, now that you have owned the Nitro HD for quite some time. If so, what phone? I'm on AT&T btw. Some people say the A2 is nice. I'm stuck deciding. Also, does anyone know when AT&T will be releasing more phones?? Tegra 3 maybe? Also, if any AT&T insiders are about, any recollection as to when they will be dropping prices again? Thanks for all input everyone!

Hoorah! Thanks for the heads up on the BB deal! I was going to call them, haven't had time. Sounds prettttttyyyyy tempting! HTC One X, you say? *GSMOOGLES*- DROOL 1.5ghz quad core??? Why does everything get topped in a matter of months!!! Good for people who can afford the status quo. :'( I want one now... my dreams will be haunted until I own a quad core phone now. :/ I just shelled $235.00 on an Acer A500 and I love it.... but i'll be darned if quad cores aren't about to $### on all of my current devices *FacePalm* /rant
Haha. XDA is such a loyal community.... love every moment on here.

Something to keep in mind about the One X is that there will be 2 different versions of it. Europe gets the Tegra 3 quad core but no LTE. In the US, the AT&T One X will have LTE but will be using a Qualcomm S4 dual core instead.
I just recently upgraded after weeks of debate and I have to say i am very happy and this is with the stock rom a couple quirks here Nd there but no show stoppers I'm very satisfied and I will be even more once we get ICS officially

So if I am wanting to get the HTC one X on my upgrade when the time comes, i'm still looking @ a dual-core phone? LAME! AT&T always finds some way to take the fun out of things! I don't need LTE I need QUAD CORE PROCESSING POWER WITH A 12 CORE GPU :O
AT&FAIL
Looks like I might go with the Nitro after all... virturally same specs... just an ugly bulky phone. (In some peoples' opinion.)
Does AT&T usually drop prices on que with new phone releases? I looked online for the BB deal for $50 w a bluetooth headset and just got the $99.99 to show... maybe it has to be in store for the promo.
Would be nice if an AT&T rogue dropped by with some pretty enlightening information regarding release dates and prices here's to wishful thinking!

Thanks for the offer though, Scott. Why do you prefer the Iphone? Do you realize Apple manufactures these things to brick if they know you jailbroke them? Let alone shattered glass on front and back if you drop it on anything other than a pillow. :/
I prefer android because they have an open developer community, as well as more durable phones for the most part, if you're going to chunk your phone b/c ur mate pissed you off and you don't have a case on it, you are on your own there. For most of us though, our phones will only suffer a drop from pocket or head height. Aprox 6 ft drop. Take this food for thought >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKJp9EMRjXY <<< drop test between the Galasy S2 and Iphone 4
With cm9 this phone is prolly better than any phone at the market right now, even at&t's htc one x wont be much better than the nitro..
Only downside is the battery, i'm carrying 2 extra batterys to survive 24hrs away from the power plug, but thats because i use it a lot, when its idling it doesnt use that much(like 8/10% on 8hours sleep)

Do you use juice defender or a screen filter for less power consumption? These two things usually increase my battery life on X device almost twice the normal runtime.
I had the p930 for a while now and i bricked it once took it back to Bell and they fixed it free of charged but I had to survive using a first generation palm pre.....for a week
and now I scared of rooting it again and flashing rom..

How exactly did you manage to brick your phone sir? Usually it's due to impatience and pulling the battery/usb cord. I've done this before w my cappy. Luckily they are virturally unbrickable... with a jig.
wasnt impatience
thats what I did

[Q] Epic Touch+Icecream OR Galaxy Nexus+JB

ok , first up phones will be used on a normal 3G network , not LTE and stuff.
right i am confused atm , using a S1.
used a epic touch for a few hours and loved it ,
but now i am in a dilemma over which phone to get from among Galaxy Nexus and Epic Touch.
can you guyz help me decide , my usage will be normal , No gaming or once a while may be , loads of surfing , emails , calls , smses , need decent battery life .
i am still inclined towards S2 epic touch owing to following observations ( i may be wrong so gimme some margin of error )
first up didnt find nexus as appealing in looks as is s2
its screen space is far lesser as compared to s2 as a lot of area is taken up by the nav bar in nexus
also the nexus screen looks smaller in width as compared to s2 despite being bigger in size ( atleast to me )
the processor of s2 is superior as compared to the type of processor in nexus , there was visible lag on home screens on nexus while a live wallpaper was being used
the camera quality is better in epic and i need camera coz i like to take snaps every now and then of my kids.
battery is abysmal on nexus ( at least thats what i have heard ) , and as far as JB is concerned when you are rooted you can install JB in a jiffy on S2 too
thanks for reading
waiting for responses.
Epic touch plus GB.

Thanks no better combo than epic touch and EL29
I had a Sprint Nexus for a little while, but I sold it and came back to my E4GT. I've run Calk's 3.0 GB ROM on it for a long time, but the latest CM10 JB ROM seems stable enough now. Get the Epic Touch and you can run GB, ICS, or JB - best of all worlds!
Epic 4G Touch all daaay!
e4gt+cm10 jb.. ridiculous speeds-. boot up time is like 18-21sec., google chrome is retarded fast, gps locks in seconds.. crazy crazy good phone
This thread is likely to be biased, you are in the epic forums after all.

I too would go with the e4gt over a CDMA nexus... I'll take a gsm nexus over both all day though....

Because the CDMA nexus receives updates via carrier due to the proprietary CDMA blobs needed, hence they do not have official aosp support from Google. The difference being an update to jb the day after Google io for gsm nexuses compared to the sprint one which got it what, late last week... personally if I'm getting a nexus device I want my carrier out of the update picture, and official aosp support so it'll be super easy to compile my own aosp/cm/aokp/etc... roms...
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Depends on how you feel about touchwiz compared to aosp.
My mom got the galaxy nexus for t-mobile and at first I was envious but then I used it and was unimpressed. Sure it was fast but Samsung has spent a lot of time making the OS easier to use and google has less experience
If my phone were more of a toy than a tool I might feel differently but I most definitely need it as a tool.
So I vote e4gt.
I don't hate touch wiz as much as many of the users do, and I agree its pretty simple as well. So no aversions there.
I did my own research and found that nexus's hardware ain't good as s2.
I am now totally inclined towards PS2 as well.
I know its kinna kiddish to ask but why do people say that black s2 works better than white. What's the basis of this comment apart from the fact that white gets scratched quickly.
Regards and thanks to all for chipping in.
GWizzing on beautifully and freakin loving it.
I sold my epic touch and have a gsm galaxy nexus and a straight talk sim on the way. Tired of sprints horrible network and the epic touch not being officially supported by cyanogenmod. I know the devs work hard but I am looking forward to having a true aosp device.
I have a black and my wife has the white. There is NO difference other than color.
As far as the OP, I've messed around with my bosses VZW nexus, it doesn't compare to the E4GT. And don't listen to the gingerbread nazis. There is nothing wrong with ICS. JB on the other hand isn't quite there yet for daily driver status.
I'm not going to argue the merits of ICS here, just saying it's not as bad as a small group of very vocal people make it out to be. Lots of very good roms are available for ICS, where GB development is pretty much totally dead.
ok
got to compare both the phones today.
all i can say that apart from a moderately better screen , the galaxy nexus is nowhere near S2, and i am saying this after trying out many things on both the handsets.
Didnt like the look and feel of Nexus , too bland ,
S2 is pretty sleek and sexy
ran a live wallpaper on both and did home screen scolling , lol exynos processor kills the T whatever processor is there in nexus.
and those who are betting on a fast update , LOL the updates are pushed via sprint if i am correct so they can never hit the phone before 2 or 3 months
so I am done : S2 that too white for me.
thanks guyz , love the XDA community

Why not the S3? Better than both of those.
good point , but somehow if i wanna go to S3 then would rather go to Note 2.
and S2 am getting for the right price as well
My GF has the Verizon Gnex with Codename(Android) JB 4.1.1 on it. I just got this Sprint E4GT and I'm running CM10 alpha 5.3.
The question comes down to hardware or software. The Gnex with CNA 4.1.1 ROM is amazing. You can do so much with it and it's rock stable. Its CPU/GPU combo aren't as fast as the E4GT but you said you're not playing games.
The 720p SAMOLED on the Gnex is really nice to surf on.
Plus, you don't have to worry about any Odin crap when flashing and updating. It's so much easier and less complicated.
Go look in the Gnex forums, they have 3-5x the developer support of this phone. I also have CNA 4.1.1 running on a Nexus S and pretty dang smooth considering how old the hardware is. You can't beat the software future-proofness of a Nexus phone.
I also used to own an HTC Evo and HTC Evo 3D. Both HTC were easier to flash than the Galaxy line. You could easily interchange kernels and ROMs without any complexity or worries about bricking your phone (on both HTC and Nexus). What is up with this Odin thing?
But, if you want better CPU/GPU, the E4GT is better, but the screen isn't as good as the Gnex 720p screen.
My ideal phone would be a 5" Nexus. C'mon Santa Google, ring in the new year and shove it up Apple's bunghole!
hmmm.. now i donno i am havin second thoughts , although i justy love S2 , but one thing constantly bugging me is that i am gonna buy an older phone i guess just about a year older.
as far as hardware is concerned well , i want my phone to be super smooth , with 0 lag , i mean i would hate lag even scrolling thru the youtube videos
larger screen is a myth in nexus as the nav bar effectively negates the 4.6 size , may be makes it a little lesser than epic T.
the other thing that is making me think is the display quality , i know that SAmoled Plus is better any day , and Gorilla glass makes it super awesome in Epic T ,
whereas the higher resolution is the only advantage i can see in Nexus , but without the PLUS and with oleophobic coating it loses the points that it scores. ( as far as my thinking goes )
Although i have taken the plunge and got s2
but a few of my pals are in the same boat and i am not able to convince them.
Post your views about my query folks
regards

Too late to get the Note 2?

There's no doubt the Note II is an extraordinary phone, well known for its battery life and large screen.
Is it too late to get the Note 2 or should I wait off for the S4? The battery life is the greatest concern for me, can anyone share their thoughts regarding their battery life and overall usage with the Note 2?
It less than a week for the S4 to be announced. So wait for it unless you want bigger screen, S Pen.

Battery life on Note II with Android 4.1.1 is excellent... so if you decide to get N2, don't upgrade to 4.1.2, becaue it kills the battery.
and get a nice sudden death ... which in a best case scenario will get your phone replaced and you will lose all your Data. .. just for not charging every night

I doubt the s iv will have better battery life. I just don't think Samsung can fit a battery big enough into the smaller format.
Still may as well wait a few days and see what the spec's are. It could surprise.
Sent from the mighty Note II.
Haven't read to much about the SG4 but the note has an amazing battery. It last 24 or more hours med to heavy use. It has a lot of gemicky stuff its self. I like the facial recognition to unlock the screen. And the fact that it checks the camera to see if you are looking at the screen and stops it from timing out the screen.
super note II
This on 4.1.2 update model SPH-L900
super note II

Wondering the same thing myself, actually.
My Verizon contract is done in May. But I have a deal where I can go to AT&T for free. That being said, at $88 a month on vzw, does it really make sense to wait for the new round of galaxy devices? The money I'd save leaving Verizon would pay for the phone in full by that time. I've got nothing to use on AT&T in the meantime.
It makes economic sense to leave vzw as soon as I can. That being said, the HTC one is coming out in a few weeks, right at the end of my billing cycle. My first and only smartphone has been this thunderbolt. I'm accustomed to HTC and sense. But the lack of swappable battery and SD card slot is something I'd consider a drawback. I can also trade in this tbolt for $100 with their trade in incentive program.
But of all the phones out right now, the Note 2 is the one I want. It just seems to be the perfect phone. I'm just worried about getting it so late in the game. I bet AT&T still charges full price for it too, probably $300 on contract, right? If I got a note, I'd probably want to sell it and put the proceeds toward the note 3, when it gets here...if it isn't 6 inches like the rumors say.
I care about rooting and flashing ROMs. I'd have smashed my bolt by now without those things. HTC seems to be locking down their stuff a lot these days, and if not them, then the US carriers. Is sammy any better?
Seems like the cheapest thing to do would be to ditch vzw asap, and score a HTC One and cash in on $100 for my old tbolt. And while I generally like HTC (wife has a HOX), I can't help shaking the feeling that I should get a note instead.
Duely blundered from my thunderdolt.

So will the Note 2, in a future update.
How much screen time? I get about 6 hours screentime over 30-40 hours
The Note2 has very great battery life, not to mention the gorgeous display. I run alliance rom and have adjusted my DPI so everything is much smaller, allowing me to fit more content on the screen.
Personally, I'd wait to see what the S4 is before making any sort of decision.
The Note 3 will surely be a jacked up S4, just like the Note 2 was a jacked up S3.
Gut feeling though - smaller phone, higher resolution screen/faster cpu.
There's no way it has better battery life than the Note 2.
- Frank
The battery on my 4.1.2 is even better than I had with 4.1.1,besides you get much better and improved web browser, a much higher screen brightness making it awesome for outside visibility etc...I would certainly recommend the Note II.

Totally wrong! 4.1.1 had way better battery backup than 4.1.2. It's a known fact now.
@OP: Too late? No. But should you get a Note 2 now? No. Because S4 is almost released and then Note 3 will be coming.
You know this is not an used camera or car or watch, this is a damn cellphone, which literally is outdated within a month of release.
So imo either wait for S4, if you don't like, Note 3. Imo, Note series will be placed a little higher than S series, Samsung does that on purpose.
'Swyped' from my GT-N7100
got mine two days ago, upgraded from the note 1 glad i did battery is awesome .
sometimes you need to ask yourself what do i need and what will be sufficient?
the note 2 is quad core and fast as hell will it slow down in two years? i doubt it.
Yes the s4 is iut soon. But you wont see an s4 note until much later on. And who needs 8cores when most apps dont use 4. And a 5.9 screen is just rediculous

Agreed, an amazing phone over all. Spen works fantastic, screen is far superior to almost all handsets (mainly due to the size, has a lot of wow factor) but yeah upgrading to 4.1.2 has smashed my battery life by half. Not impressed. Still wouldn't swap though, even with its cheap battery life on 4.1.2 it still lasts longer than anything else
