Hello, i have massive screen burn in due to the persistent search bar...my question is...i want to give this phone to my mom but i would like to know if there is any way to reduce hide or make the burn in go away, i have experimented with some apps in play store and with some color tuning settings but no luck yet...can someone help?
I wouldn't worry to much about it buuut if it is extremely visible without you deliberately trying to find it I would get a warranty replacement.

yes it is...but isin't there a software solution? i don't have the warranty.
It is really hard to see Nexus phones have warranty, wasn't our first thing to do once we get Nexus is oem unlock and root?

Doesn't mean you can't return to stock once you need warranty work done

Just lost my phone in taxi I'm rooted also have face unlock and pattern unlock secondary. Is there anything I can do to assure the finder can't use it. Or can I track it. I'm on monthly 4g so no insurance!
That sucks man. As for gps locating your phone I believe that's offered by your insurance, or if you had any type of Norton, kaspersky, trend micro etc security on it. They offer stuff like that. Otherwise you might be SOL. As for them getting in I don't know. Maybe someone else can shed some light on that answer.

Go to the play store from your computer and download "plan b" it will be pushed to your phone and allows you to track it.

A buddy of mine used "Lost Phone" app from Play store
I hate how easy it is for someone to look up how to wipe a phone and easily bypass all security. Usually when someone finds a phone, that person doesn't want to know your stuff.
Where's my Droid can also be pushed, and then you can get it's location

did u ever set up Lookout on you phone? it comes w/it.. if you maybe randomly did one day, you can find it with that
2nd to the Plan B. That works amazingly. Also, check if you have a cab receipt. You might be able to use that to identify which cab specifically had the phone. You can call into their dispatch office and ask for that cab. Lookout is awesome too.
I called the cab said he saw no phone. Another passanger could have gotten it. I'm not even going to bother now what's done is done. Thanks to you and everyone for your help. I wanted a new phone anyway maybe my wife will get me one for fathers day. I'll wait and probably get a note or galaxy nexus I'm sticking with Samsung I have a windows and a iPhone at home but don't feel like it I can't go backwards .

I find that the GS3 is not much of a significant upgrade from the GSII. I would much more suggest a Galaxy Nexus since it will still be relevant for many more months to come. The GN comes with pure stock ICS not that TW crap. The GN is almost certain to receive jellybean directly from Google pretty quick while the S3 will have to suffer through what the SII just went through from GB to ICS

Should've went with nexus style all screen.that was kind of the point of ics

I would recommend setting up a pin lock on your next device, that way whenever the phone is restarted it prompts you for the pin. It doesn't matter if it's been wiped or not, it registers with your carrier. Also, as added security, I use Avast and from there I can remotely wipe my sd card and the phone, thus removing any chance of someone getting any of my personal info.

I totally agree don't know why these manufacturers still making new ics devices with buttons. Besides the nexus the only other device I see with on screen is a new Motorola phone coming out.

From what I know, warranty covers only defected hardwares. Only if the phone has a problem but you didn't caused it.

USB port issues are considered hardware and covered under warranty unless showing clear signs of abuse. If you have lose port and can no longer charge or need to wiggle to make connection, send your phone in for service. Don't forget to flash stock JB and unroot and relock your phone. All can be accomplished within 10 minutes with root toolkit available in the Android development section as a stickie

What if I've had problems with my speaker cutting out mid calls since I got? The phone has been dropped once and has a couple dings but its been doing that since I got it and the drip had nothing to do with it. Will Verizon still give me a replacement without charging me?

Ugh just realized mine has issues with the USB port. I only charges when the USB cord is pushed up ever so slightly. What's the turn around time for warranty repairs?

Be prepared to possibly get one with worse, or different problems.
I think I lucked out and got a pretty good one, first buy. But I have heard a lot of people saying it takes their 3rd or 4th phone before they get one that's just right.

God that sounds like a world of pain .
I first got made aware of this when I watched the xda TV there was a feature on different screen technology so I know there's an issue with amoled but I'm less than half way through my contract so what's it going to be like in 12 months

It's really not a "defect", per se, it's just what these screens do. If you get a replacement, it's going to have the same problem eventually as well. Just kinda have to accept it for these types of displays.
I was swapping out my Sim card and one of the pins broke off. Has anyone had any experience sending their phone in for warranty work thru Samsung? How good/bad was your experience and how long were you without your phone? Thanks in advance!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
They were decent in my opinion, but you better get a loaner phone, because they take forever to fix it, then send it back.
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel
And don't be surprised if they want to charge you, especially since you kind of broke it...
They tried to charge me for a DOA pixel on the screen....
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Ya, that's the kind of replies I figured. Thanks for the info.
How in the world did Samsung figure it was your fault for a dead pixel.....morons!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
The....guy I talked to suggested a factory reset to fix the pixel, it's really frustrating. And then you explain to them that a dead pixel is hardware related and permanent, and a factory reset couldn't be further from a solution, but they brush it off in that "hey, I work for Samsung, I know everything, now go do that factory reset" sort of tone. Maybe it was just him, but probably not...

Hello community,
I am planning to send in my Nexus.
The headphone jack is broken. It has a typical loose contact.
My problem: My phone fell down some time ago.
I have a small crack in the display in the upper right part.
Is that going to be a problem?
I don't see any relations between the crack and the jack-problem.
Thanks,
Toby
I'm sure that won't be a problem.. Only way to find out is to honestly tell them. Samsung is very good IME with customer service. Just make sure to relock the bootloader lol

Not just yet, make sure you flashed a stock image before locking the boot loader.
Beamed from my Maguro.
Which is ironic considering rooting and custom ROMs don't knock loose headphone jacks, the drop was more likely to do it of course.
Please expand on your Samsung warranty replacement experiences, I haven't really heard anything good about them yet.
