tried flashing the ics kernel on my dads galaxy s 2. in odin it froze at setupconnection for a good 10 mins, so i turned the phone off and got a black screen.
plugged the phone in and i got QHSD something_DLOAD because there was a missing driver, i found the driver and installed it (quantum high speed download) and tried to reflash my phone with no prevail. (stuck at setupconnection again)
any idea how to fix this?
That's a hard brick, get a jtag or contact Samsung.
And what where you even trying to flash? ICS kernel? Huh? Lol

Dude the tmobile version does not have ics yet our version is the sgh t989 do a little research before trying stuff out its only for your best interest. U prolly flashed a kernel for the international version

ahhh! i thoguht these modified rome were made to work with our tmobile galaxy s2.
was trying to figure out why it wouldn't flash, so i figured it was that i didn't have the right kernel flashed on the phone.
i never looked over this section before. i been flashing my samsung galaxy s for a very long time

well its over now : ( so your options are a warranty replacement which is easier in my opinion, or you can use the jtag service which is very awesome but dont know if they support the t989 yet and it takes about ten days total time to get the device back in your possession
hey guys, i just got the gsm galaxy nexus in a trade for my galaxy s2 for tmobile. ive been noticing every now and then i lose my data for a little bit then it comes back sometimes and sometimes i have to restart my phone for it to come back. its stock running 4.0.4. the guy updated it before he gave it to me. is there a fix or a reason it does this? thanks for any one helping me. also sometimes im using wifi and i turn it off and the data doesnt come back. lol thought this is odd.
also noticed when on wifi sometimes it trips out and when im downloading an app that is like 27mbs my wifi disconnects and reconnects like crazy. its odd.

Nope, I have been running on tmobile since day 1 and have never had this issue, but have had multiple others. I suggest you reflash to another rom, or if it is stock reflash the stock rom (if you can do this). Something prob just went wrong when he updated, happens to us all.
Would generally say that's not normal.

What is your stock rom info? Is it IMM76i because if it isn't then you are experiencing a flaw of the first 4.0.4 released by Google.

here is my info. took a screen shot. but its the IMM76i 4.0.4
i found this article about the connectivity issues with the new 4.0.4 update. http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/05/gsm-galaxy-nexus-signal-problem-issue-android-4-0-4/
now i just need to figure out why my wifi connection goes on and off when downloading apps.
My wife and I have the same phone, both have cwm installed and rooted.. Today she got a upgrade to Android 4.1.1 and mine is still 4.0.4. I checkd mine and it say my phone is up to date. What is up with that... I checked after the update and her phone still has root..
Never mind. After clearing google service framework in app manager, it worked, downloading now.. BTW what is the big deal on this up date? As I haven't noticed much difference in looks anyway..
It upgrades the software from Ice Cream Sandwich to Jelly Bean.

You really see no difference in ICS and jellybean?
Google search is different. Menu settings are different. Web browser is different. Off the top of my head. You can always go back to ics if you don't like it. No one would be offended.

JB runs alot smoother. ICS was a great upgrade from GB lol.. But JB overall is smooth, quicker, and above stated has changed. But run what you like to run. only opinion that truly matters is yours.
I'm running JB, but I thought there was a physical difference, like the OS looked a lot different. But it still looks like Ice to me..
As far as i know if u are rooted and try to take the jb update it doesnt over write after it install the jb update for me it reboots into twrp recovery I reboot im still Rooted on 4.0.4
Anyone know why it doesnt update and break root??

You can't be root and try to stock update it just won't happen..

Mine rebooted into JB no problem. CWM asked if I wante to have stok recovery blockedd and to try and keep root. I said yes and in system it says 4.1.1. Someone have a screen shot of what your looks like after the update and still stock...

In order for the update to go through you have to be on STOCK recovery, not TWRP or CWM.

When can I expect to get update
My wife and I just upgraded to the Galaxy S III last Friday when Sam's Club had them for 96 cents (we couldn't pass up the deal). I have gone about as far as I want to on setting up the phone before I get the update. As I ran a none standard Epic 4G I never received software updates from Sprint. My question is when can I expect to receive this update????
I need to root the S3 so that I can finish setting it up.
Thanks for the information.

The update is available as a stock ROM here, and may be available in other threads as well.

Just root your phone and pick a stock JB rom from the forum. There are plenty out there. No need to wait for sprint to push the update to you.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I was just saying that you have to have STOCK recovery for the update to work. Otherwise it will fail.
Hi guys, just wanted to post this question. I talked my girlfriend into getting a gs3...she has had every iphone. This is her first android phone : ) I really hope she will keep it and learn it. But i'm a verizon guy and she is a att gal. I asked the sales rep at att today if the jellybean was released for att. He said no. I even checked myself and checked it's latest... She is running ice cream and no update was available. Did you guys get an official update and how can i get it for her? I don't want to root her phone. Thanks everyone.

JB is out but update via Samsung Kies only on the pc!

Damn why so....that sucks. Why couldn't att push it like other carriers? She likes the iphone due to simplicity and this just makes things harder for her....just really don't want her to go back to an iphone.

If that doesn't work for you, you can use Odin to flash one of the stock images yourself.

Why this sucks. Don't she have to use iTunes if she want to upgrade her iPhone? Just connect S3 to pc, open kies and notification will popup about update after phone is detected. Follow instruction and in about 10-20 min she will be on jelly bean.

Sorry my bad. The phone rings once and then force closes with a message something along the lines of app not responding, or something like that. Sorry. I've already restored a nandroid backup and I can't remember the exact wording of the error message. But yes, it was a phone process error.
