tmobile galaxy s2 HARD BRICKED. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

tried flashing the ics kernel on my dads galaxy s 2. in odin it froze at setupconnection for a good 10 mins, so i turned the phone off and got a black screen.
plugged the phone in and i got QHSD something_DLOAD because there was a missing driver, i found the driver and installed it (quantum high speed download) and tried to reflash my phone with no prevail. (stuck at setupconnection again)
any idea how to fix this?

That's a hard brick, get a jtag or contact Samsung.
And what where you even trying to flash? ICS kernel? Huh? Lol

well its over now : ( so your options are a warranty replacement which is easier in my opinion, or you can use the jtag service which is very awesome but dont know if they support the t989 yet and it takes about ten days total time to get the device back in your possession

Made a dumb move

ok so I was flashing (experimenting) Skyrocket ROMs for my Hercules. So I was kinda going crazy on the flashing since I was bored so flashed this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560759
BTW it was NOT SKYROCKET ROM, this is ATT GS2 which is completely different than Skyrocket. Skyrocket ROM is compatible with our device, just FYI
Anyways, boom the installation was snap and it rebooted automatically as it said on the OP. Then the phone just went black... wouldn't turn on, nothing. I pulled the battery and inserted nothing.... I was like WTF that I did..... of course it BRICKED!
I was going crazy (well not really lol). Luckily I still have warranty so called T-Mobile and got it replaced, will be here next week.
Well the point is READ READ and READ before you flash anything, I got lucky since I have warranty but not everyone.
Lesson learned in a hard way!

You need to fix this post.. The rom you flashed was not for the SkyRocket but was for the ATT SGS 2 which is totally different phone.. PLEASE PLEASE dont start another Rumor that Skyrocket roms are not safe.. because they are.
Not being mean but if you dont specify then for the next month we will have 100 threads asking about SR roms on the Hercules..
Edit: Not to mention you can trick it into download mode and use odin to fix it.. search for instructions if you want to try.
Kinda ironic of the ROM's title xD

Not sure why you posted this.. there was no question.. this is Exactly what I said. Not a Skyrocket rom so it should have been obvious it wouldn't work.
But unless you follow the link and see its for the ATT SGS 2, the OP leads you to believe he bricked flashing a Skyrocket Rom and that's misleading and should be corrected to reflect that.

Unless the partition was overwritten that contains DL mode then it will ALWAYS work.. .
Also did you try ..
1. remove battery.
2. plug in phone to usb on computer with battery STILL OUT
3. while plugged in hold down volume up and down.
4. Still plugged in and still holding the volume up and down, insert your battery.
5. boom choose continue and find download mode
Usually foolproof.

Same here. I bricked mine back when CM9 was just starting out. I knew better but still did it anyways. Best advice I can give. Always Odin to EL29 before flashing any ICS or JB build. When I say Odin I mean a full stock build. And use a GB CWM. I've never bricked using that method.

I was worse than all of you. About 3 weeks to a month ago, I first flashed Cwm Touch, then tried to do a full wipe and flash down to GB from an ICS Rom and Kernel. I then ended up hard bricking by chance, as I tried to flash Stock El26 after that not knowing why it wouldn't boot, and then when odin froze up because of the emmc bug, my computer locked up as-well >.< .... So I had to pull the battery, and that was the last time that screen ever turned on. lol. My phone has a very, very pretty blue light of death though!
I ended up purchasing a new one.
Lol you guys too I bricked liked 2 months ago, I had AOKP build 35. I forgot to wipe and on top of that I tried to put the blazer ROM over it.

New GS3 user :)

Hey all, I have a question about my new phone. It seems that after rooting and thorwing in the Blazer ROM my screen rotation is now INVERTED.So when I landscape to the right, what should landscape right side up, is now upside down and the same goes for landscaping to the left. Any idea what the cause might be?
I have tried a different ROM and the same thing is happening, it also never happened on the stock OS...which I seem to be having a VERY VERY hard time flashing. I have the current stock OS right now but ODIN won't seem to pass it. Any thoughts guys? I got many many games I want to play in landscape and I just can't. Any help would be greatly thanked.
Try clark44 freeGs3 rom. Best rom I've used yet
Apple just give up the IPHONE sucks deal with it.

This is your problem. AT&T and Tmobile both have different kernels than the CDMA (Sprint) model. You'll have to flash an AT&T kernel to fix the rotation issue. If you're having other issues, then I suggest you flash a full AT&T ROM.
Here's the AT&T section.

I try a new stock ROM tomorrow, finally got Blazer back and installed and the up-side down landscape is still happening. I tried the re-cal the gyro but to no avail.
I did find a thread on sprint forums though, so a few people having this problem with their phones ONLY after having rooted it. And in even fewer cases, upon getting a brand new phone...the same thing still happened. So I will find a new stock ROM try it and show it to the guys at my local store and see what we can get going. If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know! Thanks so much.

Anything's possible, but the U.S. variants have the same chip set (exact, to be honest.) so the drivers are still compatible with each phone. This doesn't mean you should go flash kernels like mad from other carriers, but it's been proven that T-Mobile kernels work on Sprint, it just causes landscape mode to be reversed and vice versa from GSM to CDMA.

[Q] Bricked T-mobile S3 can anything be done.

Ok so long story short my S3 is hard bricked. This was my first try at doing my own root and rom install. Im not sure where I messed up at.
1. I got a toolkit from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1746682
2. Backed up all system files with the toolkit, and saved pics to my computer.
3. downloaded oden and clockworks restore (cant remember the name)
4. did factory reset
5. cleared cache
6. then installed the S3 rom I got from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1663656
I followed all the instructions as best I could and it still messed up. is there anything I can do to reset it back to default??
Nothing comes on. no lights, no screen, no sound. only thing I get is if I take out the battery and plug it up i get a led light for about 12 secs.

I know on my old Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) it was practically impossible to brick the phone completely. You could always access download mode to restore the ROM using ODIN.
How to enter download mode on Samsung Galaxy S3
Volume down ,home, and power until the warning.
http://youtu.be/0BJlfbZNB-I
Please note I have no experience flashing ROMs on the S3 as of yet. I plan to flash the new OTA update with root already injected tomorrow.
The first time I flashed a ROM using ODIN, it screwed up somehow and of course the phone didn't work. I was freaking at that point. Then I read about download mode and was able to flash the ROM successfully.
Your best option is jtag. I flashed an incorrect rom and had to replace the main board on my SGS3 as the jtag didn't work for me.
If you're in the USA this is the person to go to, they are linked everywhere on xda

It's from the international section, anything from the international section will brick our phones, they are completely different, they have 4 cores and 1gb ram, we have 2 cores and 2gb ram. The only roms that are safe to flash are the ones in the T-Mobile galaxy s3 section
You can give it all the drugs and sex you want but the only thing that will help it is a jtag

Personally I would get it jtaged. Rather than have Tmobile take care of your mess up and passing the cost on to the rest of their consumers.

[Q] Why did I get Softbricked

So I am rooted and unlocked using the freegee app. I attempted to install lifeless rom but the installation failed, since I wiped both caches and did a factory wipe I figured I was in the clear to reboot. The phone rebooted fine so I redownloaded the rom thinking I had a bad download. After I turned the device off and tried going into recovery, all I got was the lg logo and the black screen. Can't boot the phone or access recovery. I can get into download mode. Will try to use LGNPST, but unfortunately I work a lot over the weekend. My question is why did I get softbricked? I am clueless as to why I got softbricked and I don't want to make the same mistake twice, so any suggestions?
Edit
After leaving the phone off for about 20 minutes I tried rebooting and it worked! re-installed the freeglee app and installed a backup.. Now I am really baffled!
It's happening a lot I think it has to do with the lack of development and testers.

It has nothing to do with that. It is something with the recovery is what we are finding out.
If it should happen again Odin could be of some use to you, as you only have to have access to a tar file and your phones download mode, hope this helps for future reference, and yes I have been seeing it more with my S2 I'm soft bricking quite a bit lately but as stated above, Odin has saved my day many times over.

Can we use Odin with this device? If so, maybe someone can create a thread with info on the process. I'm not exactly sure how I got in this predicament or how I got out of it. Maybe I should have re-downloaded the free Gee app after I wiped data and went through the process of unlocking the bootloader before trying to access recovery
