Having two MAJOR ISSUES with my phone.
-Cannot get any service on my phone. I believe it has something to do with roaming. When I call a wrong number it says something about "Verizon Wireless"
-Some letters like the letter "s" on the keyboard does not submit. Also on some letters/numbers on the keyboard pop-up it will log in a different letter or number. Some text boxes I cannot click on and type.
Basically my friend did not have time to root my phone and simply told me to follow some directions and it ended up messing up my EVO 4G. I was working on getting revolutionary and something got messed up. I then tried to put on Cyanogenmod and it worked extremely quirky and that's when all the problems arose.
We ended up putting several ROMs on it and they all made it constantly bootloop.
Eventually I found a way to get it to its stock RUU rom and it still messes up. I am in constant roaming with Verizon which doesn't allow me to get service most places I go. So basically my phone is useless as a phone.
Also, certain areas of my phone screen when pressed does not work. For instance i cannot ever type the letter "s" or even activate the text box to put in names for new contacts.
Anybody know how I can get it back to using Sprint towers with no roaming and to be able to enter in all numbers and letters entry via keyboard and text etc? I basically want it to be completely stock and downloading the RUU stock ROM didn't do it all they way unfortunately.
I would eventually like to get FRESH ROM installed after I get this figured out so anybody with good directions or tutorials please share!

Every time I go to HTC update
It downloads and tries to install
1.32.651.6
I download the update, it asks me to INstall Now; I say yes!
Phone reboots, get the HTC logo
Screen turns to the installing with the green arrow then it turns to a red question mark and the installation fails, phone boots up.
Suggestions?
So I've tried to install it manually through the evo bootloader, no luck. I can't install 2.2 with out the OTA; as it won't download; so if anyone has any advice on this, I would be most gracious and even send paypal if need be!
If you're going stock for whatever reason, you can use the latest ruu to get it to a stock state. There's one for 1.47.

Your next option is to take it to a Sprint store I suppose. They'll fix you up. If they give you **** about it blame it on somebody's kid. God damn crotch-fruit.

Thats the only way?
Is there a non-touched Official 2.2 available that I can load like a custom rom?
Replace your custom recovery with stock (no) recovery, then try...update can't communicate with custom recovery
So, I figured out a way to do this
A while back I created a NAND backup; so I just restored that.
Sadly, when I run HTC update; it says no updates available
Thanks for the help though!
BUUUUUT for some reason the software #'s are hte same; when I run that OTA what would the value of what ever be?

So I took it in to a sprint store; they said sorry we'll give you a refurbished phone, but we don't know why it won't update.

So, you just got an EVO that is still stock and it's having these reboot issues? Some more information would be probably help in steering you towards a solution. Is the phone rooted?

I wouldn't even mess around with it. Take it back, get a new one. That's what I would do if I was in that situation.
do you see anything new that may be useful to any devs
As far as what you posted? Nope, that's all normal stuff.
If you did a factory reset and it's still acting up, just take it back. Why would you wan't to hold on to a phone that's potentially defective?
You did buy it new from an authorized seller, right?
yes but through lets talk they were the only ones who had one and well see how they do on the return the boot loader isnt rebooting
Do you know what an RUU is? Try downloading it from this thread and running it. It will reflash ALL the software in your phone. Plug in your usb and run the .exe file from your desktop.
I still think you should take it back.
it is wierd i left it off and sitting in boot loader did a wipe after activation had definatly went through then looged into my gmail acct and no reboots since wierd
thanks man

That's not true right now actually. Some of the Evo's that have been sold lately have a new H-BOOT image that hasn't been cracked yet. They are working on it though.
I'm guessing I'm one of those users with the new H-Boot image......
... since I followed the step by step method, and it doesn't seem to work. Considering I just got this phone today, I'm guessing I have the newer HBoot image on it. As for what happens, when I'm running the Unrevoked3 software, it gets through the recovery screen where you scroll down to HBoot USB then reboots back up the phone instead of writing the custom recovery.
Just in case this might help, my phone has the following software version:
Android Version 2.2
Baseband Version:
2.15.00.09.01
Kernel Version:

Any help you guys can provide would be much appreciated.
I found the HBOOT version when I pulled the battery, then pressed the power button and Down volume key at the same time to bring up the bootloader. It's at the top of the white screen.
Here is the link to thread where a couple devs are working on this and trying to get it into Unrevoked.

My girlfriend has the EVO 4G (the original model, she got it on launch date) and I rooted it for her simply to get rid of the bull**** apps on there. However, since it is rooted she is having two problems:
1) OTA updates download fine but do not install.
2) GPS Navigation works for about 2 minutes before it force closes. If you open it up again it will FC immediately and do so until the phone is restarted. Then the process repeats.
Getting her the OTA updates is not too important, but she REALLY wants GPS to work. How can I:
a) Unroot the phone WITHOUT wiping and hope that that fixes both problems?
b) Fix the GPS problem while still remaining rooted?
Sorry for the noob questions, I have the Samsung Vibrant and am not used to this phone at all. Thanks!
Here's her info:

Anyone? Little help?
You can just back everything up with mybackup root or something like that and try a different ROM but you'll need to wipe to make sure you don't have problems .
You can check this thread out for GPS it might help its for aosp ROMs though.

Decided I wanted to liberate my HTC One V from the preloaded apps. I used Hoosan2000's tool to unlock the bootloader. That went fine, but somewhere along the line I got click-happy and changed something I shouldn't have and got the "This build is for development purposes only..." splash screen problem. I could restart into the bootloader, but trying to go into recovery would only reboot into the HTC splash screen. I've been poring over this forum and a variety of other google results for a week and I have the phone in a state of "sort of working." I can now boot into Clockwork Mod Recovery, but when I click on any of the options, instead of bringing up more options, it just goes to the blank CWM background screen (the tophat). I can start the phone and actually get it to boot into stock Sense (it appears to be stock Sense now at least...certainly none of my old stuff is present), but WiFi is stuck in "turning on." I *think* I have Superuser privelages, but, beyond having SuperSU installed on there, I don't know how to tell if my phone is properly rooted or of what use that would be to me, as the only way to boot up into Sense is through the "install superboot.bat" file when I have it hooked up to the computer via USB.
In summation, I'd like to get this phone working, whether it is a custom ROM or just back to Stock. I've got my old Samsung Mez for the time being, but it has a whole host of other problem and is not reliable. Being new to this, I am just having trouble parsing a lot of the abbreviations and jargon I find in tutorials, so if any of you are able and willing to just give me guidance, I feel like I am close to resolving this issue.
Here is all the info I can think to post:

CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4
Like I said, I just want this phone back up and running. No longer care if I get to put a custom ROM on it or not (although it seems like it would be easier to put a custom one on there as I, for the life of me, haven't been able to find the stock version that I had originally anywhere to flash to...no, I didn't make a backup. I thought I had, but, I didn't).
Any help would be really appreciated. I swear I have searched these forums and found a lot of useful info here, but I am stuck at an impasse and I don't know what to do next. Feel like I am gingerly walking the line of "I will fix this and it will be ok" and "I will brick this and my wife is gonna be pissssssed" and I am sure you all can guess which side I want to land on.
Thanks.
You will fix this and it will be ok. I had the same problem with that version of CWMrecovery; updating to a newer version or to TWRP ought to help.
Newer CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173863
TWRP: http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/120 (you'll want to follow the recovery image method, since you can't properly boot into your phone, I think)
Having a working recovery should make the whole thing a whole lot easier, so that would be my next step. From what you've said, since you can still get into recovery I assume you can get into your bootloader and so you should be able to install whichever one?
I think Superuser roots as part of the installation process, although I'm not 100% sure on that.
Using hansoon to help you " one click root " had you flash a kernel (boot.img) I'm almost positive that since you are US Cellular CDMA and not Virgin Mobile CDMA the modules for a working WiFi are not in your stock Rom. Causing the ' WiFi turning on ' delima.
Personally I've never used CWMrecovery for more than a day, but I do know that if you flash the recovery.img of CWM then try to boot into recovery and you have issues.... Then flash a different custom recovery ( don't boot it though ) and reflash the CWM one again. Worked for me. But then I discovered TWRP and never looked back.
