I recently reverted by EVO back to stock
FIrmware: 2.1-update1
Build #
1.32.651.1 CL171253 release-keys
Software #
1.32.651.1
Every time I go to HTC update
It downloads and tries to install
1.32.651.6
I download the update, it asks me to INstall Now; I say yes!
Phone reboots, get the HTC logo
Screen turns to the installing with the green arrow then it turns to a red question mark and the installation fails, phone boots up.
Suggestions?
So I've tried to install it manually through the evo bootloader, no luck. I can't install 2.2 with out the OTA; as it won't download; so if anyone has any advice on this, I would be most gracious and even send paypal if need be!
If you're going stock for whatever reason, you can use the latest ruu to get it to a stock state. There's one for 1.47.

Where do I get the RUU?
Hell, what does RUU Stand for? lol
Thanks
So I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695604
I am downloading that rom atm
Ok; so yea, I was trying this too; for some reason, the application reboots the phone
the big HTC logo shows up; but the software can not communicate with the phone....
I am running in circles here!

Your next option is to take it to a Sprint store I suppose. They'll fix you up. If they give you **** about it blame it on somebody's kid. God damn crotch-fruit.

Thats the only way?
Is there a non-touched Official 2.2 available that I can load like a custom rom?
Replace your custom recovery with stock (no) recovery, then try...update can't communicate with custom recovery
So, I figured out a way to do this
A while back I created a NAND backup; so I just restored that.
Sadly, when I run HTC update; it says no updates available
Thanks for the help though!
BUUUUUT for some reason the software #'s are hte same; when I run that OTA what would the value of what ever be?
Build #

Which would become the .6?
Any further thoughts on this?
So I took it in to a sprint store; they said sorry we'll give you a refurbished phone, but we don't know why it won't update.

I bought a handset off another forum a couple of months back and I think it's a fully unbranded handset, and have been trying to run the 2.2 update, except everytime I get to the green sync symbol after it restarts, I then get a red question mark.
I'm running
Firmware 2.1 update1
Build number .1.1.405.2 CL174215 release keys
Software number 1.21.405.2
So is this rooted? Either way, how do I get the Froyo update to work?
Many thanks!

You will know if it is rooted cos you wont be able to pull it out the ground lol
Only jokin if you phone is rooted you will have a program in your apps called super user.
hope this helps
I have something called superuser permissions. Is that it? As you can gather, I'm a bit of a thicky so an idiots guide would be great!

Yeah thats the one your phone is rooted
Ok. That answers the first part I guess then. Any ideas how I get to Froyo? I can download the update, but it always fails to do it's thing.
Do I have to restore the phone or what? And how?
is your phone branded in any way? even a start up logo ?
and where can you download the update? from system software updates on your phone?
There's no branding on the phone, box or software. I can download the update via software updates.
PS. Thanks for the help so far!
If you can download it from software updates go for it froyo here we go,
no branding is a good sign
Just try updating via the update manager as that should work.
LOL
That's the problem. It doesn't work!
Same thing with me....
I bought a Telstra Branded Handset. Had a company root and install a generic rom. (Telstra handset because it works on ATT 3G.) This morning, the phone told me that I had an Android Software Update (Version 2.2). The phone downloaded it, but wouldn't install. I imagine because the dang thing is rooted.
I will wait a few days for someone to offer a desire rom with 2.2 and HTC sense.
Is there an easy way to restore the handset to it's original software so I can upgrade from there?
Look for the Unrooting guide in the (sticky) guides collection. I believe it just involves flashing a stock rom. But currently you won't be able to root your phone after official OTA froyo update, since it flashes your hboot too. Alternatively you can flash a rooted froyo ROM without hboot.
Edit: Look in development forum for the sticky guide. The place to be for topics like this; it makes them obsolete.

It took a bit of time to download all the updates, but I got there in the end.
My Desire is rooted, 2.1, not 2.2 Froyo, I wish. But I am trying to things in the file management like install and move around apk files. But it wont allow saying I have no permissions. Rooted to me means God access, but its not really god access. Any ideas why?

Even if you are rooted, you will have READ ONLY access to /system due to NAND protection. You can only write to /system from recovery.

2nd post. If you have a superuser app, you are rooted.
Hi, Well I'm trying to finally root my EVO before updating to 2.2 and put a custom ROM on. I can't seem to get past the first part. After entering the bootloader, it checks PC36img.zip...I'm not given the option to flash, immediately after it checks it I am prompted with the following:
Main Version is older?
Update Fail!
Do you want to reboot device?
<Vol UP> Yes
<Vol Down> No
I even tried the simplerootfull.2 and got the same error. Can anyone point me in the right direction...would really like to get this rooted and a Non-Sense 2.2 ROM on it. Thanks.

Your answer is in the Answer Forum.
I can't get anywhere with this damn thing....I've flashed my devices a million times before and this is just buggin the **** out of me. Heck, I got froyo on my HD2 in 30 minutes. This is just not going anywhere!!!
Tried the resolution to the Main Version is Older, and I can't even get the RUU to flash to the phone. It doesn't see it when connected to my computer and errors out, nothing happens on the phone. Tried while connected to HTC Sync, Disk Drive, Charge Only with Debug enabled. RUU won't work.
It's just irritating I can't get anywhere with this POS.

You got main older version because the PC36IMG is a older hboot for 2.1 (hboot 0.79.000). You got now 2.2 and the hboot is 0.93.000
Try flash the 3.26.651.6 stock root posted to see if work for you
I'm still on 2.1, I haven't accepted the update to Foryo 2.2
My Software on phone:

Does what you say still apply...I'm just lost, which I very unusual, I'm an engineer and ususally get this right off the bat, but this is just not going well. I just want to get it rooted and get a nice Froyo 2.2 without sense build on it. Thanks.

I have the same issue, I used the unrevoked download just the root part, I didn't do anything else and my evo is rooted but I tried other methods because I didn't know if it was rooted, my friend downloaded a few apps and we found out my evo was rooted, it was a trip, we still haven't found out how to get pass the old version stuff, just try the unrevoked download, just hit start and your done. Your evo won't be fully rooted but you will have root access. Try it

Guys if this doesn't work for you nothing will. Seriously, slow way down, read very carefully and this will take a whole 7 minutes to accomplish. If you don't want to use the computer to enter adb shell just download terminal emulator from the market and enter the commands through that. easy cheesy. OP feel free to send me a PM if you need additional help, ill try to answer back in a timely manner
I'm just gonna wait until 2.2 is rooted and all the bugs are fixed, I'm happy with this unrevoked root, but I will read it

simple root also just came out with a one click root, i have used it on friends phones with excellent success, takes maybe 10 minutes total. Probably teither of the above methods will be MUCH easier than a froyo root ... but who knows, good luck whichever method you decide to go with
i did download that, and that took many moons to download haha, well i did try to run it but i got the old version crap,
but then i that realized i was rooted!! i just unrooted, i think i just did haha i had to run the ruu 1.47 and it was quick
well i just got an evo am currently on the nexus one got the evo and it will load up i can go any where and do anything then after about 30 seconds to a minute will reboot and keeps doing this. can anyone point me in the direction of a fix? thanks
So, you just got an EVO that is still stock and it's having these reboot issues? Some more information would be probably help in steering you towards a solution. Is the phone rooted?
no not yet

I wouldn't even mess around with it. Take it back, get a new one. That's what I would do if I was in that situation.
do you see anything new that may be useful to any devs
As far as what you posted? Nope, that's all normal stuff.
If you did a factory reset and it's still acting up, just take it back. Why would you wan't to hold on to a phone that's potentially defective?
You did buy it new from an authorized seller, right?
yes but through lets talk they were the only ones who had one and well see how they do on the return the boot loader isnt rebooting
Do you know what an RUU is? Try downloading it from this thread and running it. It will reflash ALL the software in your phone. Plug in your usb and run the .exe file from your desktop.
I still think you should take it back.
it is wierd i left it off and sitting in boot loader did a wipe after activation had definatly went through then looged into my gmail acct and no reboots since wierd
thanks man
Hi there,
I want to put the following RRU back onto my HTC Desire (back to it's original state from T-Mobile)
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122755
However i am currently on HBOOT 0.80
Do i need HBOOT 0.75 for this RRU? & if so how do i downgrade?
Regards
Phil
Use this one instead...
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
It's still a T-Mobile stock ROM but newer so will be fine
Thats the one i'm on now, but i want to downgrade to...
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122755
As i am not getting the T-Mobile Andriod 2.2 update when i check for updates
Are you not on 2.2 already?

No, i want to go from this...

Kernal Version

Build Number

Software Number
1.21.110.4
Browser Version

Back to my original version when i got the phone which is...
Firmware Version
2.1-update1
Baseband Version
32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
Kernal Version
2.6.29-3cb3dfbf
Build Number
1.15.110.11 CL155070 release-keys
Software Number
1.15.110.11
Browser Version
Webkit 3.1
So i need the RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122755 but i can't run this on HBOOT 0.80
I want to go back to how my phone was originally so i can then recieve the T Mobile Andriod 2.2 update.
I think there is a guide in the dev section. If not a quick Google will work.

Tried Google, will have a look around, was hoping someone could help me on this forum, if you find the guide and link would be good
Thanks Phil
Have already followed
[HOW-TO] downgrade HBOOT 0.92 to 0.80 again
But i want to use RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122755
Which HBOOT version is needed for this RRU?
I found this guide on how to downgrade. You need to scroll down a bit.

Why do you want to go back? There's no benefit in doing so and T-Mobile don't need it back to 'how you got it' if you're returning it to them. So long as its on their FW they'd be fine
I want to go back so i can recieve the T Mobile Andriod 2.2 over the air update
you won't get it from being on 1.15...their sequential, you need 1.15 to 1.21 and 1.21 to get 2.2...I think it's been pulled at the moment though due to it having German apps
I thought it might be why i'm not recieving the 2.2 update. I have just rang T-Mobile and they said they will push it out to me. They release it according to when your phone was manufactured and said it could take up to a week from today, so will see what happens.
Before T Mobile released 2.2 (couldn't wait because they were taking too long! I rooted and went onto the...
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed
I was then able to save apps to the SD card but i lost my Wi-Fi just kept saying Wi-Fi error.
So i downgraded and went back to...
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed
But have yet to recieve the T Mobile 2.2 update, which will now hopefully be this week sometime so hopefully i can save to sd card again and still have wi-fi working
Yea eddyos is right they might have pulled it. Try taking your simcard out and changing the date and going to settings about phone then check for software updates and see if that works. If not I'm sure there will be a manual ota update somewhere.

There's every chance the update is on the HTC server, someone could run that linux script that checks the server for updates (possibly - I don't know where it is on here)
I was rooted with Unrevoked forever and running Caulkulins EVio 2.
Ran the unrevoked s-on tool from the How to Unroot the EVO in 2 STEPS thread.
Attempted to run the PC36IMG but it won't load as I get a notification stating that it is older than the 2.2 the phone came with.
I do now have S-On
Did full wipe and factory restore.
I am unable to update radio, Wimax or Kernel.
Downloaded the 2.3 update and it loads about 1/3 of the way and then hangs, giving me a triangle with a yellow exclamation point next to the little green android guy.
I'm thinking that perhaps I am not totally non rooted but I'm not convinced this shouldn't allow me to update from the 2.15.00.09.01 or allow me to replace the 2.6.32.15-ge2fb08e htc--kernel and 18-12#11
Build# is 3.29.651.5CL252548 Release Keys and Software Number 3.29.651.5
Any thoughts or help you could give me?
I guess I must be a problem with no answers?
For one, you don't need to unroot to flash radios.....
This I was aware of but as I am due for an upgrade in three weeks and I was trading the phone in at RS, it made sense to do so.
This still doesn't explain why I can't upgrade, why the radio flash doesn't take, etc

Since you are rootless, flash the 3.70.XX RUU and then run update. That should get all updated ...
Although why bother with a trade in?
