guys, i have few MP3 & few OGG files which i was using them as ringtones on my previous phone.
in SGS2, i dont know how i can set custom ringtones.... i saw some OGG files in system/media/audio/ringtone folder through root explorer.
i tried copying OGG files into that folder, it allowed me. but when i went to settings/sounds/ringtone.... there it doesnt show up the newly added file...
what should i do ? is it possible to use custom ringtone on SGS2 ? if yes, how & in what format the SGS2 recognises music files....
pls let me know.... i am waiting
Hmmm think the fastest way on a clean phone would be to just play the song in the media player and then "menu > set as > phone ringtone"
Think you can also set then using kies.
Mind you I've only used mp3's so not sure if this also goes for OGG files.
hope it's somewhat usefull
Copy Ringtones to folder System/Media/ringtones . I use super manager .
Format .ogg .
Exit reboot phone .
Go to setting sounds phone ringtone scroll down and then back up for ringtone select new ringtone .
Tested working 1100 21/05/11

You can actually put them in any partition, even on the memory card, you don't have to root so long as you put them in the correct folder:
Ringtones
/media/audio/ringtones/
Alarms
/media/audio/alarms/
Notifications
/media/audio/notifications/
I believe that any audio format that the phone can support may be used
thanks guys, i played the file & in the options i set it as ringtone. that played the trick. after choosing that mp3/ogg file as default ringtone, it showed up in sound/phone ringtone setting.... till then it was not so...
thanks for you help...
it would have been better to search for list of music files from default ringtone settings....i wish.... its okay....

Click to collapse
You don't even need the media/audio/ folders.
My sd card just has the last folder name, and any files in there show up in the relevant selection menus.

Basically I wanna install that mod I have a rooted r800i. O understand u have to flash the system hi Rom.zip but what apps do I need and how do I install this.....
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
When it says you have to flash a zip file you dont do it in adb you do it from the phone using clockwork mod recovery, this allows you to change system settings easily with one file (the .zip) as i suspect you haven't unlocked your bootloader you just extract the file to your memory card (usually a system.apk file) use a program such as root explorer on your phone, copy the file to the /system/ path change the permissions like it says on the mod page, and move the file into /system/app
restart the phone and it should be there.
However if you unlocked your bootloader and installed a custom recovery/kernel you could just select the .zip you downloaded and apply it to the system, and its done.
I just followed this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207310&highlight=install+in+recovery&page=2
...as was suggested in the notification toggle thread.
All done in less than a minute and working perfectly - no flashing necessary.
Hello everyone!
I'm trying to get into the theme and MOD show. I have released my Modded version of the Audio file found in every Android Rom that controls the ringtones and notifications. It contains the regular audio files found in Stock rom but also top hits ringtones you find on the radio and season ringtones and notification sounds.
Directions (advanced):
1. Unzip Rom of your choosing
2. Find the "Audio" file under system/media/audio
3.Replace "Audio" file with one you have downloaded
4.Re-Zip all file you Un-Zipped
5.Flash Rom
Directions (simple):
1.Download "Audio" file
2. Place "audio" file on root of SD card
3. Reboot phone (for safe measure)
4.You might have double of ringtones and notifications if this is so you must do the advanced way get rid of doubles
Download link:
Audio 1.0
Nevermind
Point is, I am giving this a try
Thanks Ya its good let me know if the link works good!! I;m not sure what to use as a file manager.
