guys, i have few MP3 & few OGG files which i was using them as ringtones on my previous phone.
in SGS2, i dont know how i can set custom ringtones.... i saw some OGG files in system/media/audio/ringtone folder through root explorer.
i tried copying OGG files into that folder, it allowed me. but when i went to settings/sounds/ringtone.... there it doesnt show up the newly added file...
what should i do ? is it possible to use custom ringtone on SGS2 ? if yes, how & in what format the SGS2 recognises music files....
pls let me know.... i am waiting
Hmmm think the fastest way on a clean phone would be to just play the song in the media player and then "menu > set as > phone ringtone"
Think you can also set then using kies.
Mind you I've only used mp3's so not sure if this also goes for OGG files.
hope it's somewhat usefull
Copy Ringtones to folder System/Media/ringtones . I use super manager .
Format .ogg .
Exit reboot phone .
Go to setting sounds phone ringtone scroll down and then back up for ringtone select new ringtone .
Tested working 1100 21/05/11

You can actually put them in any partition, even on the memory card, you don't have to root so long as you put them in the correct folder:
Ringtones
/media/audio/ringtones/
Alarms
/media/audio/alarms/
Notifications
/media/audio/notifications/
I believe that any audio format that the phone can support may be used
thanks guys, i played the file & in the options i set it as ringtone. that played the trick. after choosing that mp3/ogg file as default ringtone, it showed up in sound/phone ringtone setting.... till then it was not so...
thanks for you help...
it would have been better to search for list of music files from default ringtone settings....i wish.... its okay....

Click to collapse
You don't even need the media/audio/ folders.
My sd card just has the last folder name, and any files in there show up in the relevant selection menus.

hi, i am using cm9 fx135 can someone guide me on how to flash or add(using some kind of root explorer) custom ringtones on the system?
SD card > ringtone folder > add ringtone
or..
(this is way to do it) on your pc search the rom (.zip) for a place where you put the ringtones > re-flash the rom
Hi guys, you can get ONE's ringtones, notifications, alarms, ui-sounds from HERE.
How to install:
1.) Open the audio.zip on your PC
2.) Extract all files from ringtones folder to the Ringtones folder on your internal SD
3.) Extract all files from notifications folder to the Notifications folder on your internal SD
4.) Extract all files from alarms folder to the Alarms folder on your internal SD
5.) Unplug your phone from PC, go to settings and choose your new ringtone/notification/alarm sound
All credits goes to deagleone. :good::good:
Hi All,
I have a problem with the ringtones which I have downloaded as mp3.
I have installed them in the following folder: root/system/media/audio/ringtones
After I flash a new CM12 nightly, I always loose my mp3 ringotnes which I have installed before and every time I have to copy them into the root/system/.. folder
How to fix the ringtones?
Many thanks
The nightly wipe /system
I have my ringtones in the folder "ringtones" in the internal SD. And I can choose them
Dear Members XDA,
I tried to change call ringtones but always fail. I tried to Created Ringtones folder in internal storage and copied my own. .mp3 file and from ringtones settings but always fail. The message is "Unable to set as a ringtones".
Has anyone tried to replace it and succeeded?
I Created Ringtones folder in internal storage and copied my own. .mp3 file and from ringtones settings I was able to set the same ringtone for both sim1 and sim2.
Even I have changed notification tune to some .ogg file (sony xperia notification sounds).
It is working so far.
Setting custom ringtones/notifications works with .mp3 (and .midi) files for me too.
