Sry for a maybe stupid question but my Arc S is always very hot, especially when it's charging. I downloaded the Phone Temperature app and it said that my temp is 54 °C and I'm very worried, I hope that my camera lent won't melt becouse it's starting to be very hot.
Hope someone can help me.

Could be a solution to downclock the CPU to 1ghz? Someone tried that way?

Of course it would, but that isn't really a solution, it's a workaround with sacrifice of speed.
I highly doubt anything will melt inside the cell phone. They must've tested it and all, I'm sure they noticed it gets hot. Otherwise there's always warranty and stuff
I changed a few things and it work for now, u dont need to undervolt or anything..I downloaded Ram manager Free on google play and then set it on Balance..it a daily use option (u have other options too) so now the cpu is at 1400mhz only when my phone needs that much, and when I do other stuff is at 1000mhz sometimes even lower. It's not slower or anything, it just saves your cpu for when you need it.
Pls hit thanks if I helped!

54 ° is very a high temperature no? in my arc s the max temp is 42-43 ,when playing ,and its 33 ° while it's charging ,without using it off-course
It is due to heavy OC. If you dont want lower your OC value.. there are few steps to keep your phone
normal while charging!!
Dont play games or use heavy aaps while charging.
Switch off WIFI / 3G during charge.
If you just let your device sleep during charge.. it wont heat up!!
The only problem when it get's really hot is when your charging and playing games at the same time, the touchscreen is really very hot.
I had the same on CM9 nightlies. Stock ICS based ROMs don't heat my Anzu.

Yes and Yes to both of your questions. There is a noticeable diffrence in performance when overclocking. But it will obviously use more battery
cant say ive noticed 1.5ghz killing my battery.. might be used a bit faster.. but u can easily offset this by lowering your clockspeed and voltage for your sleep state in addition to minimising the required voltage that 1.5ghz requires, id say my battery life is probably better overall, and i run 1.5ghz 24/7.
of course your mileage may vary depending on usage and various settings.
How hard is it to overclock it? My phone is rooted but I have no experience with overclocking.
I'm guessing it wouldn't be a wise idea?
Yeah this seems a little over my head.. thinking of buying another Xperia Play just to mod the crap out of.
Dont really wanna mess with the overlocking now I think about it incase I fry the chips and kill the phone.
At 1.4 and 1.5ghz its quite safe.
To chill out the battery put some screen off underclocking like at Real low with but not the least
1. 4 ghz scaling interactiveX I get 252/282 MS, thats pretty fast with nitro lag Nullifier too

Well with 1.5Ghz then, you'll be amazed!

My phone started doing this lately and I restored/unrooted my phone and it doesnt get hot anymore. I've had my phone for 3 weeks and I rooted it on day 1 using zedomax's overclocked rom. Had no L.O.S issues at all but all of a sudden it started getting hot. Im gonna root again when he releases the next update....I miss my rooted phone already :'(
I use midnights rom without the Zedomaz OC kernal and use Z's stock kernal because I was having problems with receiving calls and texts.

I suggest flashing StarBurst 1.6. I had overheating problems on stock doing basic things too (web, call, light gaming.) Ever since being rooted for about a week, no overheating since. Highest now is floating around 43 degrees celsius, and idle is 24-30.
I think the overheating has to do with the Android OS bug from what I've been experiencing on my phone. SB1.6 got rid of some background process that may help to lower AOS and overall heat output. Good luck.

hey guys m a noob i have in this roooting process for like just a few months and have changed around dozen roms.i currently on cm7.2 latest verison and my fone crashes around 5-6 times a day.i am using cm7 performance tuning as cpu 729-729(performance) compcache 26% vm heap is 64.in order to speed up the device i have installed sd speed increase on 3072kb but no results.my fone has around 60apps of which 55 are on internal memory while 5 on sd card i used mtd partion and partions were as system 130mb,cache 20mb,and internal 315mb.my fone lags like anything i was using adw launcher the other time but it crashed every 5times
now i am using go launcher and it is atleast not crashing now but it is very using as if i m using 512mhz processor.the games are also very slow ninjump is very annoying on the device.i surfed the internet for qvga temple run but it force closed and so with other games like nfs shift(not responding) and gangstar west cost (unresponsive)
did i rooted it wrong should i root over again?
also i flashed ruu and then also flashed cm7 but still its laging.
using the stock kernel of cm7
please help ASAP
Dissemble your phone ,cut your processor into 4 pieces and you will have a quad core.It will then become super fast like a leopard.

This is nothing to do with rooting. You should know that wildfire doesnt have a gpu in it so the games dont run as they are suppose to be running. So overclocking doesnt do any significant good to its performance.
I see that you are running it at 729/729 which according to me is too much because the device heats up quite a lot with these settings and also leading to craches. Try atleast lowering the lower value. I personally use 691/352 with smarassv2 and it doesnt give me much lags with the scripts I use. Mind you I use adw launcher with all the animations enabled.

i know wildfire doesnt comes with a gpu but ninjump should work flawless with overclocked processore my fone doesnt gets heated even on 729 if i use if for more than 6hours in straight and by temple run and gangsta i meant those games were mend to be compatible for a arm v6 processor still they arnt working even if i try everything with chainfire 3d
Yes they are compatible with armv6 processor thats why you are able to run them. But mind you games need graphic processing. Slow processor without gpu (graphic processing unit) can not do all the processing by itself.
Still there are many scripts available here on xda which can improve the performance of our device. You can try those and see if they help you.
:banghead: and then with some rolleyes.
using my thanks as likes
Just because you can't feel the heat doesn't mean it's not there before the phone gives in, every cpu has a different tolerance level.
Drop your cpu speed and it should stop the rebooting, I've heard of people that can't go above 691 before too.
As for the games its been said before many times, no gpu=no good graphical games, this cpu can't handle it. If you want a good phone that can don't buy bottom of range phones that have been out for years.

First of all read my post correctly, I gave you advice on how to stop the random reboots? How is that not being helpful?
Secondly it doesn't matter if they are compatible with armv6 they use a more advanced graphics engine which will just not work for us. I'm also guessing that a galaxy y has a gpu?? (correct me if I'm wrong).

My friends S3 used to get really hot and he wasn't rooted. I turned off his location service and no more heat. I presume the heat is coming from something that's running in the background. that's what it's supposed to do. part of the "project butter" tweaks for jelly bean included this type of CPU jump when performing a task. that instant jolt to the maximum device GHz helps make doing everything on the phone more fluid/fast.
to get better battery on your device and troubleshoot whether this feature is hurting you specifically more than helping, feel free to adjust your max speed. start low, at say 1GHz, then bump it up a hundred at a time to find out where your phone is the most comfortable.

Can we maybe explain it as having a device that just run's hot ? It was my first inclination.
OP, maybe I glanced over it at first but you stated you have used many rom's and kernels and got the exact same response on all the ones you used ?
Did you you try going back to stock rooted and seeing how it was from there ? A completely clean slate might be your best idea. The only way a device will get hot is is more power is being used to keep the processor at higher temperatures. There really isn't any other way or than faulty hardware issue.

its not a price tag. its a script set to take advantage and make the most of the hardware on your phone. as soon as the task has begun, the CPU speed drops immediately.

I almost always use ondemand governor. In my humble opinion nearly all the other ones are inefficient or just placebo's. My phone runs streaming radio 4-5 hours a days on LTE and it never gets hot. Stays at around 918mhz at the highest. There a few bugs in 4.1.1 like the media server scanning where it will constantly scan your media because of a bad file.
Odin stock rooted 4.1.1 and then see how it goes. Factory reset it and erase /data or move to to pc or ex sd card. Won't take long and if it still does it I can't see what it would be.
