I have been member since 2008, i started out with the sprint hTc touch. at the time it was a great device....then became one of about 10 people to buy a palm pre on day 1.. then got samsung moment, htc hero in late 2009/early 2010. then got evo4g >then evo3d.
if not for XDA i wouldnt have enoyed my devices as much as I did and XDA helped extend the life of all my devices.
i only bought my hp touchpad because of xda developers were able to get android working on it..
Im using the galaxy nexus on verizon.
well not to be long winded but I just wanted to thank XDA and all those who've helped make my devices even better.
Couldn't agree with you more
I have only been a member for a couple of days, but since 2010, I have been a flashing freak. I only joined cause I ran into a problem with my evo. I love the HTC EVO 4g and i hate they have discontinued them. I had insurance up until july 7 of this year through best buy and now i am no longer covered. To think i paid best buy ten dollars a month and now I am no longer covered and they encouraging me to upgrade. So forget that! I hope best buy goes under like circuit city did. But nonetheless I love XDA. I have tried to figure out the problem but no one can help yet. And plus until i get 10 post; i wont be able to post it on the actual rom that gave me the problem of no longer having the sd card installed. and it turned my s-on so i can no longer recover or anything. I cant use the wifi option or bluetooth but i can browse internet and download apps just not to my sd card so no music downloads and no pictures b/c i have no where for them to go. maybe i will refigure it out; i tried to get a new cell phone b/c on my bank statement from july i had money taken out of my account thru best buy they promised me over the phone if i brought it up there they would replace it and then when i got there they told me my plan expired 30 days ago, now 32 days... what a joke for insurance. I guess it is just like the rest of insurance; A FRAUD. You never need car insurance but the day your policy expires and you dont get it renewed is when you will wreck... sad but true. my mother died last year. she had a 100,000 policy and she paid for a supplemental AD&D policy with an additional 15 bucks a month... idk how long she had that policy but the supplemental AD&D didnt pay b/c she died of cancer.. i was thinking man for 15 years or so for 15 bucks a month that could been a good lil chunk of change but it lined someone else's pocket... but i thank XDA!!!!
What OP said...
I actually only found this thread because I was trying to create one my self
I couldn't agree more. XDA have helped me through several tablets, phones and android-sticks, bricked devices and whatnot. And I consider XDA to be one of the best fora on the web for several reasons. Mostly for the beauty of contributing to the whole open source community but also for helping me, helping my self, helping others.
I haven't donated as much as I ought to - mainly because when I'm done flashing and fixing, I close all 15 open tabs with helpful solutions in sheer happiness! That's also why my Thanks Meter is shamefully low...
Anyways. This is a big thanks for all the tears and joy the XDA community has given me.
Regards,
Me Too
Thank you xda :good:

Of course XDA is a she Like a fine woman that deserves attention and affection. And in return we get devotion and satisfaction.
As much as XDA appreciates all the thanks it gets :good::highfive:, threads like these usually become a haven for those trying to circumvent the 10 post rule. So apologies to the OP, but thread closed.

I have an Evo and I am going to use my upgrade to get the Evo 3D when it comes out. I currently get a discount monthly due to my place of employment. Does anyone know if I need to bring proof of my employment there when I upgrade to continue the monthly discount? No one at Sprint could give me a solid answer

Ok, I did not have to.
I just went to an authorized reseller (mall kiosk) and said I wanted to upgrade my phone to an EVO (about 2-3 months ago)
I did not need proof of employment, they just did the ESN swap and turned on my new EVO.
Simple, no muss, no fuss.
You definitely do not need to provide proof!!!
Awesome. Thanks for the info everybody. I asked because my jobs site is down for maintenance and it would be more of a pain to go to work and get it since I'm on vacation for the week

Really wanted to flash this ROM but didn't want to lose the hacked hotspot. A co-worker told me he got a free 30 trial, so I thought id try. After hearing "oh no we cant do that" twice, I was transfered third time to Alex.
I was super polite and asked like I probably wouldn't get it. He asked me if I had tried it before and I lied and said no. Long story short, he gave me 3 free months-until March 14.
In my experience, being very polite makes people MUCH more willing to help you.

I can vouch for this as well. I had one of those 3g USB internet things and it was terrible. Half of the time it was unusable. They let me out of my 2 year contract a year early, waived the ETF's and reset that line so I could get this phone at new 2 year price. I killed them with kindness and they took care of me. Actually, Sprint has always been great as far as customer care with me

Why is this a shock or surprise? Have you never worked in customer service?
Everyone should be required to work in a customer service type of job for the first 6 months of their working life. It taught me a lot.
When I was in High-school I became the assistant manager of the place I worked and I'd bend over backwards to help customers who had issues, but were nice. The assholes got little or nothing.
When I worked in a call center the assholes got put on hold while I went pee or ate a snack, and then the call would "drop" LOL, good times.
I only wished it worked the same for me with Charter Cable and Dish Network. I have gotten the run around a few times from them. I have nothing negative to say about Sprint. Never a dropped call, 4g since launch day of the OG Epic and great customer service.

Just received my bill from Sprint today. It has a curious statement below the previous balance. It says Dec 14 Discretionary Sales Credit -$25.00!! The tech that gave me the trial hotspot gave me $25 off my bill as well without telling me- what a pleasant surprise after spending so much $ over the holidays. I wish I could tell his supervisor how great a job he did and how happy I am.

Recently, one of the members if team rejectz has had a minor accident with his E4GT. My team mate, friend, and mentor had his phone ran over while keeping a child safe from on coming traffic. As we all know, this phone is very sleek and can easily slip from your hands or pocket. In this case the phone slipped from his pocket while.scurrying the young child out of harms way. He very well may have saved the child's life. But by the time he turned around his phone had been ran over and crushed by on coming traffic. This could happen to any of us. Sprint has claimed it was user negligence and is charging Lorjay $100.00 for a deductible to obtain a replacement. We are all struggling in this economy and none of us have an extra hundred bucks. Lorjay589 has been an invaluable help to this forum and community. He started team rejectz as well as taught and mentored me and others of our team so we could help make these devices better. In doing so our team has collectively brought 5 of the newest roms, many new png images, mods, lockscreens etc. Currently we have raised approximately 42.00. We are just about half way there. Here is a paypal donation link, also you can donate to him if you enjoy lorjays original work and feel you can contribute with a donation. ALSO, IF anyone has a tester phone that they can part with for our team, please pm any of us from.team rejectz. Thank you for your time and consideration.
I have spoken with these members and this is fine.
Please no trolls and no need to associate this member with any other one you feel did not do the right thing. If you want to donate, donate. If you don't, then just move on. They have taken the necessary steps to do this right with my guidance.

Chris I do not think he will listen to reason. Or understand the explanations.
Also OP.... you do understand that the minute you charge something you are responsible for its support and if something goes "wrong" or not according to wishes in later. He will held you responsible no matter how much you say "I do not take any responsibility"...

Oh, trust me I know.
But I also know there is a difference between doing something for free and money. Trust me on that one that there is .
Rooted, flashed my fair share of roms on buddies, colleagues phones, and never ever one of them came to me, that something is bugged.
I even had to hear from a third party that they had some issues. They never said I was at fault. Never.
However, repairing a computer and been forced, money put into my pocket with angry looks and going away, no matter how much I said I don't want it. Or getting a chocolate ...
this equals to a next call with "you know, you repaired I know, and its for sure not your fault, but could you come and have a look?"

Buck up your ideas man! XDA is an open community where people of like minded interests try to help better their phones and their lives etc...
Asking if you should charge someone to root their phone for them when the whole process was originally created by someone who released it for free is just dim witted imho.
I can imagine that with an attitude like yours you wont have these 'friends' for much longer.
Give me a tenner and I'll tell you how much to charge.
XDA is a free and open community. Send him here or do it for free.
Discussing how much money to scam from your friend isn't exactly what XDA is all about.

Thanks god nobody got injured, but I seriously got a little irritated by this post. You put other people in danger because you were playing with your phone. And now you're warning others because you feel it's your responsibility? It should be clear that you shouldn't use your phone while driving! glad it was only metal which was bent ....I think talking on cell phone and driving should be worth a ticket in Florida ....
You don't have those commercials where you live? The one where it'll have just one word in black text over a white background (for example)
"Hey"
Then it has someone explain how that was the last word their son/daughter/brother/sister etc. ever saw because that was the text message they were reading when they got into a fatal car accident.
I see the commercial almost daily here and don't personally need to be reminded, but the gesture is nice I suppose.
What you have to remember is that you are responsible for moving thousands of pounds of sharp, jagged metal, glass and combustible fuels. Generally speaking, none of these play very well with the human body. If you stop paying attention to what you're doing for even a second, you can effectively turn your car into a wrecking ball or missile.
There are plenty of ways to have your texts read to you via Bluetooth headsets or over your car speakers. This is Android, we can literally do just about anything with these phones.
(Off topic Apple rant spawned from this)
Every time I get in a car with an iPhone user they are always driving and messing with texts or music. Freaking idiots.
Just to clear the air a bit and I should have posted this from the beginning, I wasnt TEXTING or TALKING on the phone. I was merely flipping thru tracks on my music player and got distracted. I'm not saying this makes it any better, rather I am just stating the facts. I have apologized to the people I hit and I am TRULY SORRY not that it matters to anyone here. This can happen to anyone and I just hope that it doesnt. Lesson learned.

I would like to think 99% of this forum are aware of the stupidity of using a phone while driving without your public service announcement. Thankfully you didn't kill anyone whilst you decided your time is better spent pissballing about rather then concentrating on not killing innocent people

Not to be an ass but I don't need to learn from your mistakes as I know not to make them this is just silly people like you are what makes driving dangerous for others and what's more ironic you will I'm sure do it again

I'm not asking you or anyone to learn from my mistake, if you have the common sense not to make the same mistake then Bravo and thumbs up to you. But I hope you have the same common sense not to get distracted by anything else that may be in your sight. I love people like you and killyouridols, so self righteous and you presume to know anything about a person. Really your condescending tone means sh*t to me and yes you do sound like an ass. Anyone can make a mistake, God forbid you make a mistake and have to go thru a traumatic situation.

Also upon reading your post again why aren't you in jail running a stop light and endangering the lives of others and your thought the next day is to get on here and tell us what watch out for idiots like you on the road can a moderator please remove this. This is just ridiculous

My response has nothing to do with condensation or how much or little I know a person it's the fact that you had the illogical idea to come on here and preach about what not to do after having just fine did it

You didn't make a 'stupid mistake' you ran the risk of killing several innocent people. That's not a 'mistake'
that's sheer idiocy. My 'accurate statistics' aren't really the problem here, huh?
Your 'stupid mistake' whilst In control of tonnes of fast moving metal is akin to wandering around with a loaded gun with your finger on the trigger. It don't take a genius to realise it may end it a casualty.
It doesn't really need the fact pointing out either....

mikeew83: Just wanted to say that your fake "downvote" button in your signature, leading to a Paypal link is shameful. Don't worry, I hit the correct one.
OP already knows what he did is wrong and never said otherwise. It's easy to forget how dangerous something like this really is, and if his post serves as a reminder to at least one person to drive safer, then that has already improved the world. Your arrogant posts don't.

Your funny that link was to donate from when I was deving need to take it out regardless this section is for galaxy nexus and general about that read the rules and you will see this has no place in this general or in my opinion anywhere on these forums. Call me fake however is a bit childish why not learn some facts before poking about not really knowing what your talking about.

He's clearly taking responsibility and probably feels bad enough. All he's trying to do is help. Get off your f'ing high horses.

You guys all act like you never touch your phones while your driving. Give the guy a break, he was just reminding everyone that getting distracted while driving is dangerous. It really is easy to forget that taking your eyes off the road for half a second could kill someone.
