Hey guys i just bought a epic 4g....from a random guy met in a gas station for dirt cheap....m assuming he must have stolen it....i just wanna know if i go to aprints office n try to de-activate the current number n register a new one....what kind of difficulties i expect to face?

well for starters theyre going to take that phone from you if its reported stolen and has insurance, and second once a phone has an esn assigned to thats it your best bet is to try another service provider, usually one of those prepay like cricket will flash phones not sure about the epic though.
Hmm why would you buy a stolen phone? Have sprint contact the owner and give it back to them for what you bought it for.

It was for dirt cheap n like a brand new fon....got it for only 40 bucks...n now i turned it on n it says....too many pattern attempts..enter ur gmail address n password....any way to get rid of it...or like master reset....

Little known fact, most states have a "receiving stolen property" law with punishment equal to actually committing the theft. Some of those laws have no qualifiers, so whether you know something is stolen or not is not a defense in some states.

Well this is not fake at all...i odin bak to stock n its workin in perfect condition....m not gonna use any mobile network on it....coz for it i have my g2 n a vibrant.....m gonna use it as a multimedia device.....for playin games,music and takin pictures etc.....

Its nice to know if my phone gets stolen there's people that won't even try to find out if they can get sprint to search for the owner. And would rather take a phone somebody paid $400 for and use it as ipod. What comes around goes around

+1 too bad the owner didnt have the gps tracker or lookout running while that screen was locked. Id kick your front door in for less than $500 with pleasure and gps tracker would put me in your front yard.

Turn it in to see if its stolen for a fact. If your going to keep the phone and you know its stolen, which im going to assume you know its stolen because you won't call sprint, then your no better than the thief who stole it. I hope you do the right thing.

You know guys i think the OP is an idiot who is missing something. Hmm i can't put my finger on it. Its on the tip of my tongue. OH YEAH...... ITS A CONSCIENCE!!! We have a lot of Devs here who are good with computers. Someone should track this idiot down and force him to turn the phone into sprint. I mean really come on.

I had sprint for like a three months and they gave me a free upgrade randomly.Its been six months since and in just about to use it for the 3D. Never found out why they gave me it, didn't really ask questions.

I am going to use my upgrade for the 2nd phone. They said even though my first phone is technically the one that is supposed to get the upgrade, I can just transfer it to the 2nd line

It's not always so easy. When my wife had the crappy samsung moment, it took me sending in that phone 5 times for a warranty replacement and them wanting to give me an even crappier phone. BBB did the trick

I'm eligible for a $75 discount, but not a $75 upgrade AFAIK.
Regardless, I'm not ready to move to the 3D until a few good devs go and the device is proven in the wild. They're really banking on the bleeding edge and the gimmick crowd on this one. I'm sure there will be something even better closer to when we're all due for a full upgrade next year.
Yea im not upgradin either, especially with these sense 2.1/3.0 roms comin out, really no reason. By next year though im thinking our evos wont be able to handle the roms, so I might upgrade to something new.

Sale your phone.. buy new one.. or... Buy new one then sale yours.. just ensure you check the ESN. I've gotten 3 phones that way.. Each an upgrade.. went from Epic (original) to Touch for $50 and no contract renewal.
Looks like the eBay route is the easy to go. To get an s3, you're probably looking at $200 agree selling this phone.
But it's out really worth it? My upgrade isn't for another year but I'd rather use it on a big upgrade, not an incremental one.

I had a lil over a year left on my contract. I told them i wanted an early upgrade and they said i can either buy my upgrade of 225 or cancel amd re-open. After reading of the thread here i think? One od the member mentioned push thru and i decided to give it a try. The rep. Transfered me to account and services and i bought my upgrade for 100 I still have my E4GT. But you have the option to sell back if you'd like. Hope this helps.

My names kyle and I work for sprint corporate as a tc i feel this is the highest quality phone we've sold i Love it I didn't expect this many customization options right out of the box only thing better would be battery life I'm def getting leff than my s3 Even with same set up

Definitely better than many galaxy nexus I'm on eco mode as well I'm getting about three hours of on screen time per charge. With it being this fast,I'm not complaining.
For what its worth of you look at the battery stats it looks like android os is killing alot of battery which is an ice cream sandwich bug. Dont know if it actually does kill as much as it states but. it could indicate something isnt allowing the phone to sleep properly. Hoping an os update will squeeze some more juicr outta this thing also hopng itll kill the overheating issue but well see

Sup people, Im Brian D, just got this phone Wednesday. Came from a HTC Evo4G that was way overdue for upgrade. I absolutely love this phone so far. As stated, the only thing that's not excellent, is the camera, which is decent...but far from awesome.
As far as speed, the phone seems like it knows what I'm gonna do before I even do it...it's so fast it's just crazy. I rooted on the first day, tweeked it a lil bit and did a quadrant test just out of curiosity and got this 7736...mind BLOWN! That is unreal, especially when the max I ever got outta my Evo was around 1200.
Also, my battery life has been excellent so far. Don't know what some of you guys are having issues with. On Eco-mode, and with moderate use aka not TRYING to burn my battery, here is where I am now...with battery left to spare. Overall, I'm loving this phone. It was between the Samsung GS3 and this phone for my upgrade and went with this because of future potential. I'm sure the bootloader will be unlocked soon...too many smart people out there are already trying to make it happen. And once it is unlocked...imagine the possibilities with this monsterous piece of hardware!!

I am on the Sprint Employee plan (the wireless advantage club) and I want to get this phone and have an upgrade but it won't let me purchase. They say my account isn't allowed to get it yet. But I see that you guys are actual employees and have it. Did you buy it unlocked or something? Thanks.
I'm Tony from Ohio. I've been a lurker here for a few years now. This is only my second Android smartphone and I absolutely love it. Can't wait to see the bootloader unlocked and a big thanks to everyone working towards it!
To the sprint employees. Maybe yall can answer. Is sprint blocking Google wallet or is wallet not going to be compatible with LGOG

To be honest that means somebody on your plan has an outstanding balance or balance that needs to be paid, I had prob 10 people at one point and no one paid there bills on time , some people didn't understand how the program worked and way over spent it was just a nightmare, so now its me and the wife that's it. I got mine through my outside account and then swapped it on to my line NP as I wasn't able to upgrade but it says it is available through swac accounts. Did the person that your under order it for you or send you the swac link to shop or are you just trying to upgrade on sprint.com ?

Hm, well I do have an outstanding balance for my monthly bill due on the 27th that I was going to pay this weekend. I found out today that the Employee I'm under has to order it for me so he's going to check soon. I have an upgrade, so if I pay my bill will he be able to order it for me? Some people say employees can't get it yet.
My whole story: Ordered HTC Evo 4G LTE on Nov 2. Got it a week after (hit by Sandy :/). Sense is slow and buggy and I love the hardware, hating the software. But since I still was in 14 days and I really really wanted this phone, decided to cancel. Waiting for my return kit for this phone but I need a phone to hold me over when that comes since no one would let me order the Optimus G. So basically, I have the EVO now, and I'm waiting till the G is available. I'll be returning this EVO by Thanksgiving so I really wanted the G by then. If not, I may be phoneless for a couple days since I have no previous Sprint phone as this is my first time with them. Ah well.

Yea even tho its a lil cheaper advantage lines become a pain in the butt , its easier and almost as cheap to just send friends a link to the referral program
