I am having trouble installing Markphytons ICS 4.0.4 on my device.
I have a Canada r800a Locked Bootloader
I have followed the instructions included here( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762372 )
Everything works well it is actually the rom i am using for now.
My problem is when i flash MarkphytonsFinal_ICS.zip from my CWM everything seems to go fine then i reboot and get stuck at the SONY boot logo forever, does not loop and i have to remove battery to make it stop and flash a new ftf from flashtool to gain any access to my phone.
Am i doing something wrong or can this simply not be installed on r800a?
......... sorry
I dont think custom rom specially ics is available for xplay under att or verizon, but if it is i have a small tip to make it work, this usually works r800i, and this happened to me before.
The way to make it work is by accessing the right recovery. So download Lupus Kernel "the Linaro v4 or above" flash the kernel and access recovery by pressing the back button.
From there on just wipe and factory then install markpythons rom.
Before the standard recovery is causing me bootloops too, but as soon as i got rid of the blue/standard recovery and got red one or the dooms, i was able to flash ics roms.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
I am making progress after a lot of trial and error i have successfully flash and booted the rom on my locked r800a.
More updates later if it works well with stock Neo L kernel
Booted everything up fine but i cannot reinstall CWM recovery because i cannot properly mount /system as writable.
If anyone with locked bootloader is willing to try here is what i did:
1. Flash stock 2.3.4 image, i used R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Enhanced.ftf
2. Turn it on so you can have usb debugging/MSC connection mode
3. Root it using your favorite method -flashtool works easily
4. Install CWM recovery
5. Flash R800i_4.1.B.0.479_Kernel.ftf
6. Factory reset/Data wipe+Clear cache+Clear Dalvik cache+Format /system
Formatting /system is what made it run for me else i was stuck at sony logo
7. Install MarkphytonsFinal_ICS.zip
If anyone can reinstall CWM after they reboot in this version please post how as i am stumped.
Cant apply update or stock wifi modules so i am trying a different rom next.

I unlocked my bootloader via omnius, installed doomkernel and rebooted with no problem, then from recovery did a wipe cache/dalvik and then installed Arconium 8.1
Now i cant get passed the doomkernel startup image, it just freezes there and i have to remove the battery. I also cant access recovery.
Im on baseband 64, had Team Stock Rom installed, and used CWM Auto-Installer 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2. (these were installed while bootloader was locked)
Do you know how to use fast boot? If so I would suggest you use the kernel provided with arconium 8.1 .
Open a cmd window easiest way is to browse to the location where fastoot is located, paste the kernel usually called boot.img in the same folder hold the shift key on your keyboard and press right click and select open command window here. Shut down your phone and then while holding the menu key on your phone plug in the USB cable. Then in the command prompt type fastboot flash boot boot.img
It should show that the kernel was flashed and you can try and start your phone again.
Good luck
Just did that and still it freezes on doomkernel start up image... im desperate
I think the key to the problem is that I had a CWM recovery installed only for stock fw, and I installed arconium on it.
yeah "CWM Auto-Installer 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2" it is!! stock only..
I know that, but what I need is a solution. Im downloading a prerooted .62 fw, is there any other way to solve this without flashing?
Doom kernel should come pre loaded with cwm, but make sure the one ur using is arconium 8.1 because If your using the wrong kernel your phone will not boot.
Just clarify a boot loop is usually a loop of what ever logos repeating over and over so for example if I was having a boot loop in cm9 I would see the freexperia logo than the cm9 logo then freexperia logo again.

I had bootloop once while installing CM7..
and i did this...
Boot into recovery mode...WIPE DALVIK CACHE...REBOOT IN RECOVERY...
Delete data/partition....del Cache...REBOOT IN RECOVERY
And then install the zip from SD card....
Lemme know if this helps...
Good day
lol... I had the same exactly the same problem when instaliing arconium 8.1.
I just couldnt find out what to do....
so I just restored a backup using CWM

The solution I quoted works for 99% of the bootloop issues...
And Kajendran,
I had given the link to download kernel.sin file in the thread started by you...Did it work???
Xperia Arc LT15i, last installed was FXP150 - CyanogenMod 10 Android 4.1.2
- which I was using for almost 2 weeks without any reboots or crashes nor any setting tweaks.
Yes, I have tried checking through a lot of searches and googling, haven't found any solution so far.
I had initially rebooted my phone to recovery using the option within the OS. It went on and loaded CWM, there I just looked around the menu, and clicked "reboot system now". After that the phone started booting, but after the FreeXperia screen, just displays a blank screen and gets stuck there. I re-entered CWM, and tried rebooting, still won't boot the regular OS. I tried re-installing FXP from sd-card (the same one that I had installed 2 weeks back) but now it won't install that release either. I tried toggling signature and re-installing, it still doesn't install.
I tried connecting the phone as mass storage through CWM, but my laptop won't detect it. The adb drivers don't work despite being installed correctly. Fastboot is the only thing that seems to detect my phone. But I cannot install new ROM using fastboot.
Please help.
Switch off your phone (if you can't try battery pull)
Use flash tools and install stock firmware and follow onscreen instructions
(Search and download ics stock firmware
Connect phone in flash mode by pressing back button and connecting)

Is there no way to make it work on FXP from this point itself ?
I was kinda hoping I could get it to run FXP directly....
If you can access Cwm get a complete back up and then after installing stock after installing Cwm you can restore...
But the best way is to flash stock and install fresh to avoid problems

yes, will do that ofcourse. But was wondering if there was any way to get it to work as it is.
CWM is already working, and the sd-card already contains the package too.....
Good morning,
Yesterday, I tried to unlock and root my friend's Xperia Arc (LT15i). Although it was running FW .62, I did manage to unlock the bootloader and root the phone. I installed CWM, emptied the phone (I thought) and installed the Xperia Ultimate HD ROM.
Unfortunately, I think I forgot a detail. I wiped data/factory reset, cache and Dalvik, but after the installation of the ROM completed succesfully, rebooting the phone keeps it hanging at the Sony Ericsson logo. It seems to be hanging right at that moment, because the problem is that when I then press the Vol.Down button, I'm not getting back into CWM.
I tried to use the "Unbrick" option to flash an original .ftf file via Flashtool, but then I get the "Error in processHeader: 1 Incorrect function".
Can anybody give me a clue on how to:
a) get into CWM
or
b) restore the phone so I can try again
Thanks a lot in advance!
PS: is there a way to get in the bootloader and go to CWM from there? It all seems to be so much more difficult then on my own Nexus S

FW .62 is gingerbread ROM and UHD is ICS ROM.I think you forgot to install ICS kernel. Use the suggested lupus kernel for UHD or any other ICS kernel in Fastboot mod or using flash tool then you can boot into ICS.

Oh crap, I didn't even think about that I figured it would be implemented in the ROM. Thanks a lot, I'll try that right away when I get home! :good:

Flashing ROM doesn't flash kernel. You need to flash kernel if you are flashing different version of ROM like Gb,ICS,JB. Flash kernel, then go to CWM and flash ROM zip.
hello there my names kyle and im new here but you can call me sangy, anyway i have joined the site to post this
i have had my play now for 6 months and i want ics and a new kernel, i heard lupus was the best one so i flashed lupus using fastboot and the correct rom. i have followed all steps correctly and the dam thing just boot loops after 1 min of booting unless i have my usb in my pc at which point the phone will stay on like it should without a single bootloop. so with a potentially bricked phone i flashed the stock firmware back v4.0.2.A.0.58 and re flashed a different kernel and rom still the same issue so i flashed back to stock again. if anyone can tell me how to solve this weird ass issue i will rate you +1 because im getting sick of having no cwm and incompatibilities with apps and i want to overclock
ps im planning on flashing doomkernel v14 hope this problem is gone but i know it will have the same issue.
my phones current state is this
xperia play r800i
stock kernel(2.6.32.9-perf) [email protected]#1
FW 4.0.2.A.0.58
baseband 64
android 2.3.4 ginger bread with root and unlocked boot loader
thats everything i know thanks for reading and helping in advance
edit: sorry if im not been precise but by boot loop i mean hot boot where the phone will run fine for 3 min then freeze and reboot on its own until i pull the battery or plug in usb in pc upon hard reset it even does this in kernel boot up

which lupus kernel, ics+gb v7 or lupus ics beta v12. have you tried flashing through flashtool because it always works for me and which ics rom as their are tons.
hello thanks for the quick reply
ive tryed the lupus ics+gb kernel latest version with the ics beta rom for xperia play and ive also tryed the lupus gb kernel latest version
and yes i have flash tool and all the drivers but a nice reccomendation on what to flash next based on my phones spec at the moment would be nice
also why am i the only person on the internet with this problem? ive heard of having 60+ apps on the sd to cuase hot booting but for me this is just out of the ordinare, particulary when ive whiped all the phone and flashed a new kernel.

With Lupus kernel, use R800i_4.0.2.A.0.79 firmware
will be flashing that stock firmware now over my other one then put lupus gb+ics over the stock kernel
will let you know if it goes well and fixes this
unfortunatly it did not fix it rom loads up, gets to the regular sony setup then freezes and hot boots. did this with lupus kernel ics+gb and the 4.0.A.0.79 firmware you linked me to. its either the kernel or my phone
just tryed doomkernel v14 with your FW kernel still crashes and reboots, is there something i have to do in flashtool because
every kernel ive flashed yet has the same issue.
note i can get a catlog app whilst it is plugged in then unplug it and wait for the crash and send it to you and you can see where its going wrong with the kernel and tell me what to do
thanks for reading these updates and sorry its taking this long to find and fix a big bug :good:

Did you tried any other ics/gb rom? Wipe your system/data from recovery before installing (and by installing i mean install from recovery with "install zip from sdcard")
Ps: maybe its stupid question, but is your sdcard full??? How much free space on it?
what recovery? this is an xperia play they dont have a recovery on stock kernels thats why im flashing one and no my sd card is not full
literally after i flash the kernal and boot up it will freeze and hot boot. the rom doesent factor in this. ive tryed 4 kernels so far the one that comes with cyanogen mod 9 and the 3 mentioned above
would flashtool logs be helpful if so tell me how to record them to a clipboard and you can see whats going on during the flash

For Lupus kernel - when powering on, keep pressing volume down for clockworkmod recovery or volume up for TWRP recovery.
Flash ROM from recovery that match kernel. Lupus ICS/GB V7 is for ics/gb roms based on stock (Sony) roms. Read in ROM's thread which kernel is recommended
With flashtool you can only flash .img files and in Xperia Play case, that is ONLY ics beta rom (but almoust all kernels come in .img format - so Flashtool is used to flash kernel). From recovery you can flash every other rom that you can find (just make sure that kernel match rom or else you'll get kernel bootloop)
ok this will be crystal clear
i can flash the kernal but even when booting the kernal and going into recovery to even flash a rom it will freeze and hot boot
meaning i did everything correctly with flashtool to do the kernel and with just the kernel installed (no rom) it still freezes and hot boots
as soon as i can stop these kernels from freezing i can flash whatever ics or gb there is in recovery
note: what are your settings for your flashtool as i might be missing a setting also the info from flashtool says at startup to disable MTP for 2011 devices, would this be my problem?

what kernel are you trying to flash? Be specific!
What rom are you trying to flash?
Disconnect phone from PC after you flashed your rom (any one, first boot must be done while disconnected)
the kernel i would like mostly is the lupus kernel
i can flash every kernel no problems, its the fact that the kernel crashes etc i can also flash the correct rom using flashtool the same thing happens
the case im trying to make is that you first install the kernel then flash your rom in recovery then the extras like wifi modules to the kernel
the kernel (dosent matter which one i try for my device ) has the hot boot issue happen to it no matter what i do before i even have a chance to install the rom(again the correct rom stock or not).
and yes i know you have to wait for boot ups on new roms and kernels, this isnt the first time i have flashed roms as i have a galaxy tab 2 running cm10 for the most part.
again thanks for the quick replys but i think this will require more technical solutions or debugging with my phone or software.

did these exact instructions but the new xparts dosent work so luckily the community had the older version that works,
followed everything buy the book installed cwm using xparts after root went into recovery, wipe data factory reset, wipe cache partition and i even wiped the dalvik cache, flashed the lupus ics+gb kernel booted into the custom lupus recovery (scrolled through the menu a minute) then as expected kernel crash followed by hot boot
any other ideas?

Hey guys! Today I rooted my device, installed CWM and installed a ROM onto my Arc device today. It all went fine but when I rebooted after the install the device seems to be stuck at the "Sony" logo. I cant seem to boot it into CWM (tried it couple of times). I'm new to this so does anyone know what the problem might be?
Thanks in advance

I'm kinda new to this and I just did what the guide told me to do , which is the following:
For Locked Bootloaders: Root your phone using this tutorial, than install CWM using this app
Place ROM on SD-Card
Back up user apps and data. (Various apps available, search Google Play. This is a popular one)
Power off phone.
Boot to CWM (Keep pressing the Volume Down key after the Sony logo appears)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Mounts and Storage --> Format /System
Advanced > Wipe Battery Stats
Install zip from SD card > Choose Xperia Ultimate HD
Follow on screen instructions on AROMA.
After Complete Installation untick "reboot" and select reboot in CWM
Give the phone a good full charge, and enjoy your brand new phone!
Okay I suppose you flashed this rom and installed it with aroma installer. And you can't boot into recovery mode when logo appears (by pressing vol down button?)
Argh I had the same problem when using different rom with aroma installer and I couldn't boot in recovery mode. The main problem was not getting into cwm so I had to flash the stock rom (ftf file) back on arc using flashtool and I rooted the phone and unlocked BL again. Then I restored the previous backed up rom.
Is there any particular reason to have locked BL? You can do it with flashtool.
I don't know what the problem would be since I don't have enough experience with aroma installers, I just know the basics of flashing, installing and I can solve problems on my own arc when I f*** up something but I'm a bit confused here so you better wait for someone who has more brains than I do.

I just want to put my standard rom on there atm, can you link me to something that tells me how to do that?
Ok, so here's thread with stock, custom roms, kernels etc. here find the stock rom and choose version (lt15i or lt18i depends on which phone you have and where you're from) and download the ftf file.
Then go to this link where you'll get direct instructions on how to flash. It's really not that complicated. Just open flashtool, choose flashmode and browse for the ftf file, then flash it.
Good luck.
If you wish us to help you, at least tell which ROM you installed.
For a locked bootloader, flash the original TFT through Flashtool.
Root.
Install CWM.
Reflash ROM.
If your bootloader is unlocked, just flash a kernel with CWM included.
Mount your SD Card.
Put the ROM on it.
Flash.
Hope I helped you !
Cheers.
