Hey guys! Today I rooted my device, installed CWM and installed a ROM onto my Arc device today. It all went fine but when I rebooted after the install the device seems to be stuck at the "Sony" logo. I cant seem to boot it into CWM (tried it couple of times). I'm new to this so does anyone know what the problem might be?
Thanks in advance
Did you unlock the bootloader? Flashed the right kernel? Explain a bit what did you flash and how.

I'm kinda new to this and I just did what the guide told me to do , which is the following:
For Locked Bootloaders: Root your phone using this tutorial, than install CWM using this app
Place ROM on SD-Card
Back up user apps and data. (Various apps available, search Google Play. This is a popular one)
Power off phone.
Boot to CWM (Keep pressing the Volume Down key after the Sony logo appears)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Mounts and Storage --> Format /System
Advanced > Wipe Battery Stats
Install zip from SD card > Choose Xperia Ultimate HD
Follow on screen instructions on AROMA.
After Complete Installation untick "reboot" and select reboot in CWM
Give the phone a good full charge, and enjoy your brand new phone!
Okay I suppose you flashed this rom and installed it with aroma installer. And you can't boot into recovery mode when logo appears (by pressing vol down button?)
Argh I had the same problem when using different rom with aroma installer and I couldn't boot in recovery mode. The main problem was not getting into cwm so I had to flash the stock rom (ftf file) back on arc using flashtool and I rooted the phone and unlocked BL again. Then I restored the previous backed up rom.
Is there any particular reason to have locked BL? You can do it with flashtool.
I don't know what the problem would be since I don't have enough experience with aroma installers, I just know the basics of flashing, installing and I can solve problems on my own arc when I f*** up something but I'm a bit confused here so you better wait for someone who has more brains than I do.

I just want to put my standard rom on there atm, can you link me to something that tells me how to do that?
Ok, so here's thread with stock, custom roms, kernels etc. here find the stock rom and choose version (lt15i or lt18i depends on which phone you have and where you're from) and download the ftf file.
Then go to this link where you'll get direct instructions on how to flash. It's really not that complicated. Just open flashtool, choose flashmode and browse for the ftf file, then flash it.
Good luck.
If you wish us to help you, at least tell which ROM you installed.
For a locked bootloader, flash the original TFT through Flashtool.
Root.
Install CWM.
Reflash ROM.
If your bootloader is unlocked, just flash a kernel with CWM included.
Mount your SD Card.
Put the ROM on it.
Flash.
Hope I helped you !
Cheers.

I unlocked my bootloader via omnius, installed doomkernel and rebooted with no problem, then from recovery did a wipe cache/dalvik and then installed Arconium 8.1
Now i cant get passed the doomkernel startup image, it just freezes there and i have to remove the battery. I also cant access recovery.
Im on baseband 64, had Team Stock Rom installed, and used CWM Auto-Installer 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2. (these were installed while bootloader was locked)
Do you know how to use fast boot? If so I would suggest you use the kernel provided with arconium 8.1 .
Open a cmd window easiest way is to browse to the location where fastoot is located, paste the kernel usually called boot.img in the same folder hold the shift key on your keyboard and press right click and select open command window here. Shut down your phone and then while holding the menu key on your phone plug in the USB cable. Then in the command prompt type fastboot flash boot boot.img
It should show that the kernel was flashed and you can try and start your phone again.
Good luck
Just did that and still it freezes on doomkernel start up image... im desperate
I think the key to the problem is that I had a CWM recovery installed only for stock fw, and I installed arconium on it.
yeah "CWM Auto-Installer 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2" it is!! stock only..
I know that, but what I need is a solution. Im downloading a prerooted .62 fw, is there any other way to solve this without flashing?
Doom kernel should come pre loaded with cwm, but make sure the one ur using is arconium 8.1 because If your using the wrong kernel your phone will not boot.
Just clarify a boot loop is usually a loop of what ever logos repeating over and over so for example if I was having a boot loop in cm9 I would see the freexperia logo than the cm9 logo then freexperia logo again.

Boot into recovery mode...WIPE DALVIK CACHE...REBOOT IN RECOVERY...
Delete data/partition....del Cache...REBOOT IN RECOVERY
And then install the zip from SD card....
Lemme know if this helps...
Good day

The solution I quoted works for 99% of the bootloop issues...
And Kajendran,
I had given the link to download kernel.sin file in the thread started by you...Did it work???
Hi, i recently upgraded my xperia arc lt15i to the new ics software, all went well and everything working fine so i decided to root the phone which i managed to do with no problems. Being the tinkerer that i am i decided to move some files from my phone memory to sd card. Bad idea! My phone locked up and is now stuck in boot loop. I tried to flash the ics firmware but cannot do it because i need to turn on usb debugging which obviously i can't do. Is there anyway i can resolve this? The annoying thing is that i can see the files i moved on my sd card when plugged into my laptop if only i could transfer them back to phone memory all would be good. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks Phil
Use aroma file manager from the android dev forums. It'll let you move files in recovery.

Thanks but i can't seem to find the aroma downlaod anywhere and how do i start my phone into recovery?
Cheers

Aroma File manager can be found in the Android themes and apps section (not in Arc themes and apps) i think so..
To boot into recovery press the volume down button while Sony Ericsson logo (name) is shown
Sent from my LT15i using XDA
Ok, so i've found the aroma file and copied it to sd card. Now I can't seem to get my phone into recovery mode. Also how will i know my phone is in recovery???
You'll need a kernel that has cwm to get into recovery...
So flash a new kernel on and then press volume down on boot screen to get into recovery. Though this means you'll have to unlock your boot loader
I tried flashing new software to my phone but it wouldn't have it because usb debugging can't be turned on, will i have the same problem trying to flash a kernal?
Cheers
How do i flash a kernal with cwm to my phone, do i need to have fastboot on my computer? I fear i am getting out of my depth! i need an idiots guide!!
Flashing a kernel doesn't deal with usb debugging and all.. First of all, tell me whether your bootloader is unlocked or not! Then I'll explain in steps!
Sent from my LT15i using XDA
Neither u need usb debugging to flash a new firmware or to upgrade the current rom..
for flashing purposes only fastboot or flashmode are required..
download the ics firmware ftf file and flash it via flashtool..
At Gire.prasad, I haven't unlocked the boot loader so i asume it is locked.
At now.i.feel. I tried flashing ics firmware again via flash tool but it wouldn't do it, it came up with an error saying it can't connect to my phone.
Thanks
Yes Yes Yes, my phone is back in action. I just flash ics firmware using flashtool again and it worked fine. i tried this the other day and it didn't work so something i downloaded from all of the posts must of helped.
Thankyou thankyou thankyou
It has been a learning curve and i have learnt my lesson. Not to dive in too deep too fast!!!
Thanks to you all again for your in put.

I am having trouble installing Markphytons ICS 4.0.4 on my device.
I have a Canada r800a Locked Bootloader
I have followed the instructions included here( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762372 )
Everything works well it is actually the rom i am using for now.
My problem is when i flash MarkphytonsFinal_ICS.zip from my CWM everything seems to go fine then i reboot and get stuck at the SONY boot logo forever, does not loop and i have to remove battery to make it stop and flash a new ftf from flashtool to gain any access to my phone.
Am i doing something wrong or can this simply not be installed on r800a?
......... sorry
I dont think custom rom specially ics is available for xplay under att or verizon, but if it is i have a small tip to make it work, this usually works r800i, and this happened to me before.
The way to make it work is by accessing the right recovery. So download Lupus Kernel "the Linaro v4 or above" flash the kernel and access recovery by pressing the back button.
From there on just wipe and factory then install markpythons rom.
Before the standard recovery is causing me bootloops too, but as soon as i got rid of the blue/standard recovery and got red one or the dooms, i was able to flash ics roms.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
I am making progress after a lot of trial and error i have successfully flash and booted the rom on my locked r800a.
More updates later if it works well with stock Neo L kernel
Booted everything up fine but i cannot reinstall CWM recovery because i cannot properly mount /system as writable.
If anyone with locked bootloader is willing to try here is what i did:
1. Flash stock 2.3.4 image, i used R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Enhanced.ftf
2. Turn it on so you can have usb debugging/MSC connection mode
3. Root it using your favorite method -flashtool works easily
4. Install CWM recovery
5. Flash R800i_4.1.B.0.479_Kernel.ftf
6. Factory reset/Data wipe+Clear cache+Clear Dalvik cache+Format /system
Formatting /system is what made it run for me else i was stuck at sony logo
7. Install MarkphytonsFinal_ICS.zip
If anyone can reinstall CWM after they reboot in this version please post how as i am stumped.
Cant apply update or stock wifi modules so i am trying a different rom next.
Hi guys, new here. My phone's warranty has expired and I have already rooted and unlocked the bootloader. Right now I'm on 4.0.2.A.0.62 and I want to install a custom ROM (Racing Bean). From what I know, I have to install Fusion kernel to use the ROM, I have already downloaded V3.1 Racing Bean, Arc Fusion (Version 5) and the Fusion Addons, all in RAR format. But now I'm stuck, I do not know what to do next, care to help me? I have installed Flashtool too. I need a step by step guide cause this is my only phone so if anything goes wrong (hopefully not since I root my phone myself through guides on the web), I got to fork out a sum of money to get a new phone... Also, do I need to backup 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware so that I can use it back if there's problems with the custom ROM? X-Parts is also installed on my android. Sorry if this question has already been posted before, I know that different ROM requires different kernel and have different procedures, so I don't want to take the risk. Thanks in advance!!!
Download a stock ftf file which you can use in case anything goes wrong. Don't worry the chances of a hard brick by flashing a kernel or ROM is extremely low.
You've downloaded fusion right? Extract the boot.IMG and place it in a folder of your choice.
Backup everything on your internal memory that you need on your phone and copy over your ROM zip file to the root of your SD card. SD cards are not affected.
Switch the phone off and press the menu button while connecting it to the USB (still off). There should be a blue LED.
Press the lightning icon on flash tool, select fastboot mode, navigate to the location of your boot.IMG and press ok. The flash will start automatically and it takes about 1-3 seconds.
Disconnect your phone and boot it. After you press power button repeatedly press volume down to get into recovery mode.
In recovery, do a system wipe and a cache wipe (volume buttons to navigate, home to select). Then install your ROM from SD card. For some ROMs you'll need gapps too but racing bean has it already.
The install will take some time. After it has finished reboot the phone. If successful (for your case) you'll see the fusion logo and the "X" (nexus) boot animation. First boot takes a while so be patient.
Leave the ROM for a few hours to settle.
Btw there's loads of guides on this and everything else on xda. Next time just use the search button.

i think u should first upgrade to ics first & then followthe same steps as given
1.Download Racing Bean and a 4.1.2 kernel (recommended Fusion)
2.Place the Wi-Fi modules and Racing Bean on your SDcard
3.Flash your chosen kernel via Flashtool, then boot your phone to recovery
4.Wipe data and format /system
5.Flash Racing Bean and Wi-Fi modules
6. Reboot and have Mess around
7. Flash either usb fix OR On screen buttons addon.
Xperia S running the latest stock firmware. Rooted and bootloader unlocked.
I installed CWM via the RecoverX installation, but when I try to boot into recovery by tapping on the Sony logo on boot, all I get is a blank screen.
I have to do a reset (power + volup) in order to boot the phone again.
Is there something I am doing wrong?
I've read everything I can find on these forums and others and followed any instructions I could find (most of which are really poor to be honest) but nothing seems to be working.
All I want to do is clear the battery stats, but without being able to boot into recovery I can't do this.
And just so I don't get the generic unhelpful answers that seem to flood other threads like this, no, I don't need a link on how to clear battery stats via recovery, or a link on how to install recovery via RecoverX. I have followed these already. I just need help booting into recovery, or perhaps a way to install CWM a different way other than the RecoverX installation.
Thanks :good:
I'm on the latest fw and just press volume up during boot when the blue light shows.
Also, you don't want generic answers that are unhelpful, but you failed to actually specify what fw you are running. Saying it's the latest doesn't help as it depends what region you are in.
There are recovery options on these boards you could try.
On jb I didn't use that installer you did,I used the method posted on doomlords thread for .211 fw.
