AUX not working - HTC One X

Hellow, i`m a user of HOX for about 2 monthes.
I`m a daily user of earphones.
Today when i connected the earphones, the logo of the earphones at the status bar did not appear and the sound came out of the phone and not from the earphones.
I tried using 2 other earphones and obviously the problem is at the AUX port and not the earphones.
Is that hardware problem or it can be software related?
I`m using stock rom(1.29.708.15) and stock kernal.
Also, if that hardware related and i unlocked the bootloader through HTCDEV at the past(i relocked it), can it damage my warrntey at that case?
Ty in advance.

It's a hardware fault.
You have Hong Kong phone, where did you buy it? The warranty shouldn't matter since it's clearly a hardware fault, but some places have less good statutory rights than others.

I was asking about what country, really. If you bought it privately, and you don't have the receipt, not fun. Anyway, HTC might still fix it. Just return as near to stock before returning it.
There is an app that can switch to headphone mode, but I dunno if it requires root. I'll let you find the thread here yourself.

I`m too lazy to search the receipt right now, but i`m sure i have it.
anyway i`ll contact global htc tomorrow and see what they can do, if they will refuse to fix it i`ll contact the seller.
At the worst case, this problem can be fixed at a private phones lab?
edit:
Ok i found this app - toggleheadset2.
when forcing it to headphones mode the AUX works, but again when canceling the force of the app it`s not working.
How can it be a hardware fault if it work`s at forcing mode? that means the port is working.

Try a factory reset, if that doesn't work try installing mist recent ruu make sure it matches your cid, if the port works its probably something else messed up
Your boot loader reads re locked so htc know it has been unlocked before

Did try a factory reset + SD wipe that didn`t work, and i can`t reinstall the ruu because i cannot find it over the net, only the 1.29.708.9 version is available.
after that i wanted to check if that happends with other roms also, so i installed CM 10 (always wanted to use it but i was 2 lazy ) but also at CM 10 theres the same problem so i restored everything again.
so now i back to point 0 with a wiped phone :/

...
Ok, after speaking with htc for using my warranty, they want 15$ just for send the phone to their lab.
After that the lab will make an offer for me, and then i will need to pay another 15$ for the shipment...
so that`s too much for me.
I tried today to "play" with the AUX port by pushing harder the connection, sometimes when i pushed the connection harder or moved it the earphones logo appeared for few seconds, so now i`m totally sure the problem is with the AUX port.
My question is - can i buy a replacement part and fix it myself? if so, what do i need to buy?

The headphone jack is usually soldered on to the motherboard or a daughter board. In most cases you'll need to do some soldering, which is not advisable if you don't have any experience with that sort of thing. If you don't want to waste your money/time with HTC then the next best option is to take it to a local mobile phone repair shop.
Or you can buy a Bluetooth A2DP clip/ headphones/earphones and use it over BT.

Challenge htc if your headphone jack I loose and it's happened through normal use then ring them back and speak to a team leader or manager, htc dev voids parts of the warranty but the headphone jack isn't anything to do with it, I'm in the UK so our laws are different but fight them

Creaking/Buzzing noise while calling

I have a Captivate Glide (AT&T version), (bought used from ebay) i'm using in in Europe, and the call quality is just weird. The quality overall wouldn't be that bad, but when someone is talking to me, there's a constant creaking/buzzing sound which makes it really bad and hard to endure. It only happens when using speakers, with headsets it looks ok.
Do any of you have any similar experience?
I don't know if it's software related, looked for some modems to flash but couldn't really find any. Tried to update software but it's not supported via Kies and also get some weird error when trying to update from the menu: "DM initialization is not ready. Check network or SIM card" (might have something to do with the non-at&t sim?)
I currently have UCKL1 build & baseband.
Since it's ok with headset, i think it might be hardware-related. Do you think it's speakers are faulty?
if headsets and bluetooth devices are fine then there is a good chance that it may be speaker related.

Yeah, that's what i thought too. But i would still give a fw update a chance, is there any newer than what i have/where can i get them? Can i flash them with Odin without voiding warranty?

Take a look in the development thread there are many Roms now available for you to try. Oh and if you flash, you do void your warranty, hence why you will see many threads on people trying to put their phone back to stock for warranty service or updates witch no longer get pushed with a modified Rom.

Well, i meant i wanted to try stock, official, unmodified ROMs, what i would get from official updates, so it wouldn't void my warranty.
I found one here: UCKI3 but it looks older than what i have.
sounds like your speaker is popped or a bad connection to the speaker, certianly not anything software can fix, altho i havent pulled my glide apart some phones have a 2nd speaker for "load speaker" others im told use the same speaker but run thru a different "preamp" so bad connections anywhere in that circuit can cause fuzz.
as far as warranty work or keeping it intacted at&t wont honor any warranty on a 2nd hand phone, new in the box or not, subscriber or not (i have tried) so if it was purchased thru ebay your likely out of luck there. ebay does have a 30 day guarantee so if your in that window you can prolly get a refund.

That's bad news. And even if AT&T would take care of it, it's not much of use because i live in Europe. I guess the best thing to do is investigate if local Samsung services can repair it, and if they can, talk to the seller to pay for it's price. If they can't repair it then... i guess i'll have to live with the 30 day guarantee and send it back...
yeah talk to the sammy repair folks quick ebay has really stepped up their game as far as ixing problems & what not. just do all your communications thru ebay so you/they have a record of the situation even if the seller doesnt want to help ebay may step in & fix to keep everyone happy....good luck!

Called the Sammy service, turns out they don't support this model in this country at all, and i guess this stands for whole Europe, so repairing is not really an option unless i go/send it to USA for this.
I don't know what to do, should i just send it back? It's a really annoying error but don't know if it's worth all the hustle...
it is a nice Android device but remember it is a phone and if it bothers you to use it as such I would try to get it returned or serviced.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using XDA
I looked into the return policy and only found this:
"Your ability to return an item depends on the seller's return policy, which you should be able to find in the listing or by asking the seller.
While we encourage sellers to be clear and specific about their return policy, it's up to them whether they accept returns.
If your item doesn't match the listing description, you should contact the seller first. If that doesn't work out, you can open a case in our Resolution Center."
Are you sure there's a 30 days guarantee in all cases? How can i do that?
I already tried to contact with the seller several days ago but no answer yet.

Can anyone repair my wifi/bluetooth signal on here?

Hello all,
Oh what fun I have had with this phone since I have had it. It now looks like I have this "Squeeze problem". I have verified against another one x and the BT range is literally 200% / 300% better than mine (running RC4 cyanogen).
I have suffered from horrific WIFI and BT since I got the phone, my nokia e5 has been my daily driver as it lets me use my sbh 20 headset without holding the phone next to my headset.
I have called HTC and they tell me they will take the phone but might charge me due to the fact that I unlocked my bootloader (which was done to improve my wifi and battery drain - hohum)
This was the last straw. After seeing that the new HTC one has already been S-Offed - and we still have nothing. I am really wondering why I bought this device.
But alas - I still want to use it to watch movies and surf at work - so I want to get the antenna sorted - but after watching the video I am not really thinking I want to do the procedure my self.
I CERTAINLY do not want to pay HTC money to repair their bad handy work.
Is there anyone on here that lives in London that would be willing to do the repair for me?
Of course I will pay. I cant even sell it like this as it just sucks to use it. Wifi drops every min etc.
Thanks all!
Lol I don't think anyone would want to be responsible for breaking your phone.
But really, just take your time while opening it gently, you might notice that the back is completely glued in (like mine). Just shove a guitar pick inside to scrap it all slowly off. I was extremely scared as well when I first opened it, but it becomes a piece of cake afterwards.
Make sure the pick goes far enough in so this doesn't happen. >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2319128

My phone has an unlocked bootloader and I sent it back to HTC UK with the exact wifi problem. They repaired it without a problem. The same for my mate who also sent his back with a custom rom still on it. Unless they can prove that unlocking the bootloader caused the fault they have to accept the warranty.
The bottom line is the wifi issue is a known hardware design fault that cannot be affected by unlocking and flashing roms.

[Q] Speakers Problem : Software related or hardware .Suggest Any software to check

Hi there mates
I believe I have faulty speakers on my nexus as I don't hear anything from top speakers. Anyway can I confirm its not a software issue ? I got it shipped so sending back and forth will take two months via a friend to America. I am currently not in the UK to claim from Asus on global warranty. (Kazakhstan)
What can I do ?
Also suggest me a software that I can use to check it like taking control over both speakers or turn one off and on.
I am currently on Stock and not getting time to wipe datas and go in safe mod and check thoroughly due to my exams.
I even opened my nexus but could not find any wires or extra wax on chipboard. However, I didn't try changing the speakers (I forgot)
And I don't intend to open it again as I want to claim it via warranty.
Any help or advice ?
EDIT SOLVED :

To be completely honest with you good sir. It is likely a fault speaker. You can try flashing other Roms if you are rooted, and along with trying a factory reset.

[Q] Voice Call Microphone Issues

I just bought this HTC from a buying service, and a trusted one. But when I got the phone. I noticed that the phone was 100% working except the Microphone. I tried using video recording, and I got loud static. I tried a voice call and the person on the other end got static. But not on speakerphone. I found that weird because the mic didn't work on video or a non-speaker voice call.
I wanna know if it's a hardware or software issue and if hardware, how people have repaired it.
Thanks.
P.S. The "Main Mic" Is broken. The 2nd Mic is perfectly Working. From the Main Mic, All I get is static

Happened to me after I dropped my One on concrete floor from 5 feet. Regional (Minnesota) repair shop fixed for $75 +/- but I had to call around because many shops would not attempt the repair due to difficulty and likely damage in opening the One. Not an easy phone to take apart. Believe the microphone and charging port where on same board. Maybe unrelated but soon after my phone started developing the purple camera tint. Possibly due to disturbing the heat shield during repair?

Where I live, all we have are iOS repair shops. And a really far shop for any phone in general. HTC Said the repair could vary from 90 to 200 dollars. But the phone shows no sign of high drops nor water damage. I already tried a small dosage of compressed air. But it didn't have any effect. I'm starting to think this is a software issue.
Is the device you have s off and unlocked? If it is, the problem might be that it needs to have the firmware updated.
I wish it was S-Off and Unlocked.. It would've been if it didn't cost money (I.E. Sunshine)
All I know is that the recovery is corrupted. But I'm not sure if I can Re-Flash stock recovery while its locked..

Have you tried running the encrypted RUU that @dottat posted? That should reformat all the partitions.
Will it Re-Flash the recovery? Because I had CWM and something happened and the boot loader re-locked and now its S-On again. The recovery just shows a phone with an exclaination mark. Says error in yellow text, and reboots as normal.

The ruu flashes the phone like it was new again. I would definitely try that before I sent it to HTC. I would also recommend that if it fixes your phone to never use cwm. It is complete crap nowdays and I don't even understand how it could have done what you said.
The only recovery I actually liked was the AmonRA recovery for the EVO 4G and the Incredible. Do you have a link to the thread with the RUU?

Yeah but if you flashed the GSM version of cwm that might be what caused the corrupted recovery.
That's probably what did it. But I'll wait until sunshine becomes free. Otherwise, I have no phone as of now and I cannot return it. And I'm also out $125. I will either have to find a non-root method of disabling noise cancellation, repair the phone myself somehow (I'm only 14. So I'd probably end up breaking it.) , find a free way to root it, or something else. Because without any of those. I have definitely wasted my money.
Lesson Learned; Don't buy things off of eBay.
But you certainly helped at least to some extent. Sorry if I caused you any trouble. Thanks for all your help.

Speaker replacement

Hi all, my speakers have blown. They crackle and distort. I've contacted HTC for warranty, but it sounds like a major ball ache. It'll take them 7-10 working days, and if they see any reason to reject the warranty, they'll charge me.
I've unlocked the boot loader from HTCDev, so I assume they would know that I've voided the warranty.
Has anyone replaced the speakers themselves? Where would I even look for parts?
Cheers

I returned mine to HTC (a UK repair place ) with unlocked bootloader for a cracked camera lens. No issues at all and returned to me within 5 working days free of charge. It's possible to relock the boot loader and return to complete stock but I just flashed a stock rom with stock recovery and left boot loader and s-off.
Up to you but they're meant to contact you before they proceed with any work that's not under warranty.
I'd try this before taking it apart
Did you go through HTC, or directly to the repair compnay?
HTC have said they will also update the software to the latest stuff for diagnostic reasons. I'm sure I read somewhere that Sunshine doesn't work with the latest handsets?

Through HTC. Sunshine worked for me on lollipop, phone is 4 months old. For hardware issues you shouldn't have a problem with modified software but I felt better for flashing the stock rom zip and stock recovery. They always say that unlocking bootloader MAY void warranty, but there is always the UK sale of goods act that they need to comply with too. Worst case is they charge you for return of phone but unlikely if you challenge them . You can ruu back to complete stock also but I never bothered. If you open your phone up yourself you're more likely imo to lose warranty and you never know when you may need it again
