"AT&T Software" app. can be removed? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

In Root Uninstall I see a system app called "AT&T Software" but I'm not sure what it is. The app doesn't appear in the app drawer, so I assume it's some system thing like a lot of the other stuff in there that doesn't appear in the app drawer.
I assume this is some bloatware that I don't need. Is it okay to uninstall this app?

Yes, it is part of AT&T bloatware and can be uninstalled.

[Q] Cleanest way to uninstall app?

So far I have been uninstalling apps by dragging the icon from my app drawer onto the homescreen with ADW EX launcher, and then long pressing the icon and selecting uninstall. That brought me to the uninstall screen where i proceeded to uninstall stuff.
However, I am worried that I will leave behind crap folders in the SD card; random leftover remnants that the uninstall failed to remove. I see a lot of folders in my sd card that belongs to apps i once had but no longer have.
Is there a 100% clean way of uninstall crap off of my phone?
just use a file manger from the market and delete the folders. I do not know of a way to get rid of the SD card contents AND the app at the same time though, sorry.
What i do is i pull open the app drawer, menu, remove app, tap the app, force stop, tap clear data, then uninstall.
That should do the trick i think

Either that or Linda app manager. Linda file + app managers and must haves!
google "sd maid" its an app that clears out the files left behind by the uninstalled apps.
I would recommend using the "File Manager" and delete the folders upon uninstalling (or) Plug into your computer and clean your sdcard. I clean my sdcard every month to conserve a little memory. Just go through every folder and delete stuff you don't need.

[Q] Clarification on "swiping" away apps in the app switcher?

I've seen conflicting reports on IF it in fact closes the application by swiping it away in the app switcher.
Can someone clear it up with some kind of evidence?
According to TaskKiller, it does. Open TaskKiller and then swipe away apps from the ICS running apps list. They also disappear from the TaskKiller pane.
What I'm saying is that it *does* close apps, but not all running apps are always located in that list. If an app opens in the background, it won't display in that list.

Deleted google contacts app?

Stock 4.02 ROM rooted/unlocked.
So I was changing some stuff around on my home screen and dragged the "contacts" app that was in the bottom bar into the trash can. I was planning to just use the contacts I can see under the phone icon, but now I realize that only lets me dial contacts and not see all the contact info I have for them. Also, a few recent contacts I added aren't showing up online from my desktop. My phone says it's still succesfully syncing my contacts. I don't see "contacts" in my app drawer (but I don't know if it ever shows up there.) Did I uninstall the contacts app, or am I just missing a setting somewhere to make it display?
Well the app is called "People"... I'm assuming that's what you mean.
If you're on the stock launcher, there's no trash can for pre-installed apps. You can only see "App Info" to disable it. You can't uninstall with 1 drop.
If you're rooted and using a custom Launcher, it may have a "trash can" to long-hold onto to uninstall, and if you're rooted it may offer a full uninstall of system apps.
Gonna need more info here...

Samsung decided to remove the option to hide apps in the app drawer,
replacing it with an uninstall/disable feature instead.
Before, with the hide feature, you could simply hide third-party apps
that were barely used or that you didn't want others to see.
Now, you can only completely get rid of them.
I did this for the bloatware apps that couldn't be uninstalled, but also for some of the apps which I only use when traveling overseas which isn't more than once or twice a year. Guess need to wait and see how this new security works
Thanks dkb218
You can just disable packets and that is for all apps no root needed just pc or a paid app
If you disable them they won't show up in the drawer, but then again you won't get any notifications or messages until you enable it again. I think something like any package Disabler will work this way.
Add app to the secure folder and uninstall it from the app drawer.
