Hello.
Is there an app or program that allows you to see what is being "called"? For example, I try modifying ROMs to remove most sense apps. When removing some widgets that i think are excessive, it seems to disable a settings menu or something.
Is there a way to see what APK's are being called by what setting or app? ALOGCAT seems that it would work here, but it brings up a TON of extra stuff.
Any help?

Just use Titanium Back up and freeze the app before removing and then see what is affected and then make your descision if you wanna reinstall or not.
which ones are you wondering about?
Hi,
is it possible to remove the SE theme? I would specifically like back the default Android keyboard and messaging client.
Thanks, Jamie
Either use titanium backup or something like root explorer, the apk is in /system/app. Install the replacement first and make it default... There are several messaging apps like chomp, go, etc or if you search the android general threads you should find the generic messaging apk. Mostly everything can be replaced, home, dialler, keyboard etc., though backup before you remove system apps.

Thanks for your response.
Re the keyboard, I was being a bit stupid. The SE keyboard settings button does not give you the option of different keyboards, but when I went in through system settings I did find I could switch to the default keyboard.
There is an ICS messaging app in the market place, but it has ads, I'm not sure if it's set as the default messaging app and it doesn't seem to use contacts' profiles. I'll have a look for an apk.
Cheers, Jamie

"You can now disable an app if you no longer want it (but are unable to uninstall it). Disabling an app
removes it from All Apps and prevents it from launching. To disable an app, go to Settings > Apps > All
and scroll down to the app. You will see the Disable option.
Note: If you do not see a Disable option, it means that the app can either be uninstalled or is core
functionality and cannot be disabled. "
its about two-thirds the way down
In Root Uninstall I see a system app called "AT&T Software" but I'm not sure what it is. The app doesn't appear in the app drawer, so I assume it's some system thing like a lot of the other stuff in there that doesn't appear in the app drawer.
I assume this is some bloatware that I don't need. Is it okay to uninstall this app?
Yes, it is part of AT&T bloatware and can be uninstalled.
Is there an option to remove that widget from homescreen?
There must be a solution to this without using a different launcher.
No, if you search on the Mi A1 forum (basically the same device), nobody found a way to remove the search bar from the stock launcher, because it is hard-coded.
The only way is using another launcher (Nova recommended) or modify the stock launcher apk to remove the bar, and replace it.
Maybe this works?
Disable the Google App
Danielle Furry recommends disabling the Google app in settings, which works for a range of Android versions. Here's how it works:
Open Settings, then open Apps
In the All apps list, find Google app, or just Google, tap it and select disable
Reboot your phone and the search bar should be gone!
If you disable the Google app, don't worry about breaking your phone. Apps like Google Play Services are essential for your system (unless you build your OS outside of Google's ecosystem), but your other apps will work fine without the Google app.
Do be warned however, the Google Assistant and voice search depend on the Google app, so disabling the Google app will also negatively affect dependent services such as Google Home, Google Lens, and Google's notifications about weather and transport, for example.

Worked for me. I used Nova Launcher Prima to remap the center button to open the app drawer instead of launching any Googly stuff. This frees up space to put more apps on the bottom row.

Waiting for TWRP and then will freeze google app with Titanium. That always worked in my case
