I've seen conflicting reports on IF it in fact closes the application by swiping it away in the app switcher.
Can someone clear it up with some kind of evidence?
According to TaskKiller, it does. Open TaskKiller and then swipe away apps from the ICS running apps list. They also disappear from the TaskKiller pane.
What I'm saying is that it *does* close apps, but not all running apps are always located in that list. If an app opens in the background, it won't display in that list.

I like the concept of the program monitor because I can see if left anything running. I'm obsessed with closing apps when I'm not using them.
What I dont like about it is that it needlessly takes up 2x1 units of space. Is there a good 1x1 widget that does the same thing? I dont want to have to enter a task killer just to see the list of running apps, I just want a number in a widget that shows how many... If it's not 0 I can click it.
hi
Systempanel bij nextapp must have!
That app's not bad. But the widget part is butt ugly and just allows you to kill everything. It's close to what I want but I like the the program monitor's number of foreground apps displayed.
Visual Task Switcher is not perfect but sorta gives me what I want but extending the home menu functionality and showing active windows as popups.

This is a great alternative, i created.. Give it a try if you like..

Unfortunately, only the beta available for try now. The ads supported version should be available soon.
Search for active apps on xda and you will find one.
Hi,
I've noticed I can't use such apps as JuiceDefender ultimate, PhoneLocator Pro or anything that is a background service etc
1 click on 'clear all' in HTC's own Task Manager App & they are gone.
Sure, I understand it says clear 'all' but this is badddd news.
I also understand its probably due to HTC's change in multi tasking.
However, regarding the In-built task manager app,
Other phones I've had only show regular apps that don't automatically start as a background service, HTC's task manager is clearing Everything.
What are people doing to work around this?

Dude,
That's not the APP DRAWER you're opening... Looks like it's a long press on the menu bar which does the history items that you can return to that are saved.
the App drawer is accessed from your home screen, and usually the dotted square icon. It all depends on what launcher you're using.
don't worry, nothing is, or has been "duplicated"
That app is causing a lot of wakelocks. And I have no idea what this app is - it doesn't appear on the app drawer and when I open it through settings it shows a screen in polish or something, and then it closes.
Is it safe to deactivate this app?
try and found out, not that difficult ?
I was just looking to see if anyone had any info on what this app is and what it does. I've found that each time I open it sends a text to a strange number with just a bunch of random letters and numbers.

I want to use the edge panel application for contacts, but I need:
When I delete applications in the background to keep this application active. I know I can lock it and when deleting applications in the background, this application will still run. However, I need this application to be locked, but after deleting the applications in the background, this application could not be seen as still active. Because when I delete this application, of course the edge panel is not active, otherwise I have to start it again by opening the application. Is there any way for this app to still run in the background, but you haven't even seen it run in the background?
I will answer for myself, but maybe I will help someone with that as well.
If you lock an application that is running in the background while clearing the memory and move it to the left to remove it, it will still run, but you will not see it running in the background.
however, if the application also locks, but you remove it by moving it down, it will run in the background! Beware, something else is to tap the cross to remove background app and something else is to remove the app from the background by dragging - swipe it from the screen to the left side.
