Upgrade of HTC HD to HSPL stuck

Hi Guys
Currently i got the HTC HD with the next configuration
Rom version: 1.18.707.3 (23358)WWE
ROM date: 12/10/08
Radio version 1.09.25.14
protocol version 52.49a.25.26U
SPL-1.14.0000
BLAC100 32 m
I gone to bootloader and connected cable USB ( i see at the bottom of the device USB).
The ActiveSync is not green (mean it's not connecting), after reading again some posts i understand that the active sync shouldn't be green, as soon as i see USB, the PC and mobile connected.
Then i started with the HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe installation, when i press "Update" button then the original version is blank but the future version is 1.56 Olinex which is correct ( I think so) ?
The whole upgrade procedure stuck on 0% on the device and after 2 mins i gets the restore button on the PC (HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.exe installation).
Maybe i am missing something, in addition i saw some flush through SD card, but i think the better wasy if from the PC -> Mobile.
Any assistance will be appreciated.
Thanks for Help.
I am having the same issue.

How to load the original ROM back?

I've been reading this forum and the internet for about 4 days now,
hence I post this question...
I have an HTC P3300 (Artemis) and tried flashing windows mobile 6.5 onto the ROM..
it reached about 56% when the usb cable got unplugged and the flash failed.
I can get it into bootloader mode...
I'm from India and the original carrier was Idea.(I suppose so, because it had an Idea screen for a few seconds when the phone was switched on)
I used to use a Vodafone SIM, so I guess it was already CID unlocked.
Tried flashing various roms.. including the HTC windows mobile 6.0 worldwide edition, the t-mobile edition and the sprint edition from this site, after putting it into bootloader mode.
Windows Mobile Device Center will obviously not run, as the phone doesnt go beyond displaying this :
IPL 3.07.0001
SPL 3.07.0000
GSM 02.69.90
OS 1.27.0.0
I havent done a HardSPL and I suppose that the ROM flash only changed the OS ... everything else was probably the same.
I can't get mtty to work via USB....nonetheless, I have no clue how to use mtty.
Here are the filenames of the ROMs i've tried:
1. Evolution 23820 ...(downloaded off some site with windows mobile screenshots that got me all "WOW!")
2. Artemis Vanilla 2.0 WWE
3. ART_TMOUK_11311001_024990_WWE_Ship_R3.exe ..(T-mobile)
4. HTC_P3300_WWE_3.13.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe ..(this one should have worked)
5. HTC_P3300_NLD_3.13.404.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe ..(this one's probably german)
6. Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 (some .uif cd image that i downloaded off rapidshare..about 65 MB)
7. Opal_WM6.5_D24_21901_COM2_WWE (I know I shouldn't have tried this, but this was my first attempt after successfully updating a touchviva to windows mobile 6.5, but I was a complete n00b back then..)
I tried all these ROMs mostly using a "ROM Update Utility" included with the package..
I also tried getting the .nbh files out and putting them on a 1GB microSD after renaming them "ARTEIMG.nbh" ...it used to say "Checking SD card".. and then would show the RGB bootloader again with :
IPL 3.07.0001
SPL 3.07.0000
Errors I received while flashing through USB :
1. Invalid Vender ID (390)
2. Connection Error (260)
it generally stops at 3%
What should I do now?
Thanks for reading.
ouhh doesnt look very good. but happens aaand can be solved.
try this:
Hardreset your phone
or reinstall the originalrom in bootmode: link
please keep care of the usb cable. or try to reflash your phone via sd-card. its very easy and less dangerous.
tried both
hard reset lands u to the same place.. HTC logo and IPL SPL GSM OS...
installing the rom from the link given ... shows a connection error(in bootloader mode)
and did you try to install another rom via sd card.
wihtout pc-connection?
You have to first unlock your device by uspl and then install the rom or simple way is by using sd card. Search the forum for upgrading Artemis by sd
ok, but how do i use uspl if all i can get to is bootloader mode?????
i thought that u need to have windows mobile running well to use uspl...
WM5 English ROM
Does anyone have the windows mobile 5 english rom for artemis?
I tried the french WM5 rom from rapidshare.. but it doesnt work...
I got it to work!!!!
thanks to all you helpful kind smart people at xda!
well.. you people kept me searching for answers...
i found the original rom at an htc south asia site.. windows mobile 6.0
the htc artemis p3300 is also called "dopod" on that site...
anyway... the only reason i couldnt get to it in the start was that it said the cellphone serial number i'd entered wasn't eligible for the update..
i just messed with the last few digits (interchanged them) and got it to accept the download...
that was plain lucky,...
but it wouldve never happened if i hadn't tried..
now.. i'm going to do an artemis uspl via windows mobile device center according to the guides on various fora..
thanks people!
i want to post the rom to some site so that people can get it even 3 years from now... (most of my links were all from 2007.. so the rapidshare downloads hardly ever worked!).. but i don't know how..

HTC Desire HD (A9191) + non-technical users = patience required

Good Morning all,
I have a Desire HD.
<Settings>-<About Phone>-<Phone Identity>
it identifies it as an HTC Desire HD A9191
<Settings>-<<About Phone>-<Software Information>
shows as Android 2.3.5, HTC Sense version 3.0, Software number 3.12,405.1
When I connect it to my PC via USB, it searches for HTC Sync (but doesn't find it - not installed).
The connection of the phone gives an "F" drive, but clicking on it just asks for me to insert a disk.
I've managed to get it to boot into what I believe is a HBOOT screen by removing the battery, then "Power" & "Vol down" to startup.
I've searched for guides to upgrade this device (I want to go to Android 4.3 minimum), but many of the tools and links are broken, or the sites report as known suspicious by my virus software.
Could someone point me at a simple, straightforward, simple to follow, and non-technical guide to how I should go about this upgrade.
Is it a problem that I don't seem to be able to connect the phone to my PC as a basic USB device?
The phone has a 4Gb SD card (new/empty), but no SIM as yet.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Any help with my HTC M8 appreciated.

Please excuse my ignorance I have read many post on this forum regarding my model however I am completely lost and have no idea of where I am or which part of my mobiles software I should be attempting to fix.
My phone was working fine it just went away into the draw after I upgraded to a newer handset about 18 months ago. I wanted to use it as a second mobile a few month back but when I powered it up it started be having weird. It would load ok but the back button just disappear as it isn't a physical button and one on the screen I could not operate the phone properly as it just was not there. I realized that if the phone stayed on for a while it began to get warm on the back also.
I put the phone away and thought id get to it another time as I did have some old photos I wanted that I know were stored on the phone memory the sd card ones I have already.
today I chucked it on the charger and it failed to boot up properly.
I cant get past the HTC boot up screen
I get one of either screens the htc page a black back lit screen saying cant load sence home has stopped and then stays there
if i play with the power and vol buttons I can get into boot screen and thats it.
there is also a brief moment where i was able to read in red writing this message "this build is for development purposes only do not distribute outside of HTC.
I have never tried to modify the software on my device.
It was bought in the UK from Vodafone store new
Id apprechiate if anyone is able to guide this old man to recover his old mobile
the following is what I can get up on the screen
***Software status: Modiffied ***
*** Locked ***
*** Security Waring ***

Thank you for any help you may offer.
Some part of the OS probably became corrupted while it was powered off for 18 months, thus "tripping" the Modified Software flag, and red text warning.
Steps to re-install the OS will wipe any data on the phone, so the old photos are almost certainly not possible to be recovered. So the only feasible way forward is to make the phone operable again (working OS) as a second mobile (as you mentioned); rather than recovery photos or any other personal data from it.
To that goal, you can try the following RUU, which would be the easiest way to get the phone running. Download the RUU to PC, connect the phone, and then run the RUU executable, and it will walk you through the rest:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934555497
One caveat, is that you normally can't run an "older" version RUU (lower number than OS version currently installed)) and the RUU ends in "2" where your OS number ends in "3". But I think it still might work, since the version numbers are very close (different number at the beginning of the OS number is a different story) and will actually read as the "same" version. And I did find the RUU posted in response to a request for RUU for your same OS number (4.19.161.3) here: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/11601146-post251.html
In any case, it doesn't hurt to try the RUU. Worst case, it fails to due version check, and does not install the RUU.
Again, if the RUU installs, it will wipe all personal data on the phone.
Hi Redpoint73, Thank you very much for you detailed reply. I have only now been able to have a chance to recover my mobile however after much headace trying to download the files because the browsered saw them as a potential threat due to the .exe extenstion. Now I have the 1.2gb file on my desktop when I try run I just get a MS error Installscript setup launcher has stopped working. been at it for a while but I dont know what to do past this. Thanks for your assistance if you think of anything else I will give it a go thank you.
Should I have anyother software installed on the machine other than the htc sync manager

Need to have Visual C++ installed on the PC, which may be causing the crash: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53166955&postcount=97
Needs to be a native PC, not a emulated Mac, etc.
Also, Windows XP and Windows 7 may have more luck than Win8, 10. But not always an option for some folks, of course.
