Hi,
I want to overclock my Defy +, but I don't know what values put in SetVsel.. can you help me please ? Thanks

oh my bad, then maybe you should start with telling me what the differences are, you surely know better...
it is really my fault, as defy and defy+ are two completely different phones with different hardware and should also be treated differently...
or just accept the fact that they are the exact same phone, and you can overclock them the same way... -.-'
maybe next time you should search before posting stupid questions which have been answered hunders of times and maybe you dont have to tell someone off who has more knowledge in the field than you... your ignorance pisses me off... good luck with others helping you!

Hey dont be mad i didn't want to offend you
You say that they are the same but DEFY is 0.8ghz and DEFY+ is 1ghz (and they have not the same battery but I think we dont care here isn't it ?),
then the values will not be the same isn't it ?
Overclocking would be :
DEFY is 0.8ghz to 1ghz
DEFY+ is 1ghz to 1.2ghz
No ?
Sorry Im new and French..
But don't be mad I didn't want to offend you

Dude, you can use the same values on both phones, have the same processor, and the same hardware actually, except for the battery.

Ohh ok thank you so if I understand well Motorola have overclocked Defy+ to 1GHz by defaut ?
But we still can overclock it more ? 1200MHz is good isn't it ?
Defy and Defy+ have not the same chipset (TI OMAP 3610 and TI OMAP 3620 I've saw that on http://www.gsmarena.com)) but same CPU you are sure ?

yes, i think the 36"10" and "20" it makes reference to the underclock or overclock, you can overclock this cpu up to 1400, or more i think, but you can risk your cpu lifetime, 1200 is the maximum clock that you can overclock without damages (like droid 2 global), in any case, for a normal user, 1000 is enough, or 1100 maybe, but on 1200 or more, your battery wont last long.

there is no such thing as omap 3610 and 3620, only 3630, which is present in both defy and defy+ (btw, this is the processor, not the chipset... or both, but it is used to reference the cpu). and you can easily overclock the defy to 1.2 and even above that. my phone (normal defy) was running stable at 1.35GHz, so dont be afraid to OC to 1.2GHz!

Thanks guys so im gonna overclock it to 1.2ghz with vsel calculator and setvsel i hope my phone is gonna be faster

set it in bootmenu, and forget setvsel. i bootmenu, change frequencies/vsels to the values you like, and i recommend changing to either boosted or smartass governor, and dont forget to save at the bottom!
i have used setvsel for months, but it doesnt make sense to have an app for doing what the built-in bootmenu already can, it just takes space in both rom and ram.

Ok Thanks you very much dude, ill try to do it

Im Just back from the Bootmenu i dont understand anything lol, ill try to find a good tutorial

set these:
vsel1: 17 freq1: 300
vsel2: 32 freq2: 600
vsel3: 47 freq3: 900
vsel4: 62 freq4: 1200
governor: smartass (or boosted, try them both out and choose the on you like more)
go to the bottom and save, reboot!
sent from my jellybean defy...

Thanks you sooooooo much !!
I'll try later because my battery is empty

Ok I done everithing it works
But 2 questions:
1. You said me to put those values because they are your favourites ones or because you found them somewhere ?
2. What's the difference between Smartass and Boosted ? And I heard about Smartass v2, should I install it ?
Thanks you so much !

You still here zakoo2 ? ^^

about a year ago i spent quite a lot of time testing cpu settings and i figured out a formula for setting vsel for a specific frequency: vsel=(MHz/20)+2
this is stabil for most people (theres even an app based on this formula ).
to know more about governors, read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369817!
about smartassv2, it has been implemented into the quarx nightlies with the name boosted, so no need to flash.
although i still flash the original zip, because that flashes sio scheduler too.

Does defy equip with a GPU and can we overclock the CPU now?
By the way, can we listen to the radio by it?
yes to all my friend
thank you so much my fd...
can we overclock to 1ghz?
ive seen many defys running at 1ghz or more for example my defy runs at 1.3ghz and has been rock solid no crashes or unexpected reboots, hope this helps
can u link me to the related posts?

1.4 Ghz Crash, any happens the same?

Motorola droid 2 overclocks at 1.4Ghz stable at 72-76 Vsel ( i seen ) but our defy's can't do that frequency, inclusive with 80vsel still not stable...
There is any reason? why droid 2 can, but defy doesn't.. in "teori" defy have an omap 3630, the same as droid 2.
Maybe something on the driver? or simply hardware limitation?
thanks
Because that Phone has a CPU that has already a higher default clock.
Even if it is the same CPU, the chip used in the Defy mostly just didnt
meet the required parameters for 1 GHz and was stamped 800 MHz.
So you will in most cases not be able to go that far in OC.

im sorry but Chinese defy runs by default at 1ghz, and with the same Vsel as default 800Mhz....
I don't care about this... but i'm still thinking there is any way to overclock safetly at 1.4Ghz and more like the Droid 2.
Example, HTC HD2, in his time the max overclock at 1.2Ghz ( maximum stable ) and now is stable at 1.5Ghz.... you don't believe? search on hd2 forum...

AFAIK Chinese Defy (ME525) also run at 800Hz by default.
Defy may have same CPU as Droid2, but even same CPU of different production batches often have different overclockability.

Maybe the overclock is not 100% factible.
The pone is precintated to resist wather, and overheats easy.
Well, i'm happy with my 1.3Ghz at 64Vsel.

[Q] Defy overclock settings?

Hey guys, im using milestone overclock and barebones 1.4 and am just wondering what the safest OC settings are for 1Ghz and better battery life than standard.
Thanks!

i did, mustnt have done a good enough job |: thanks anyway
nope, that didnt answer my Q either, i just want to know what the best Vsel settings are for the defy running at 1ghz
I use 52 as 1GHz vsel. But it may change according to different phones, you may need to test it yourself.
For me it's 54. And there will be at least two more people telling you something different. Just try it and settle for the lowest stable value.

If you read the entire thread you will see that there's no exact value for your answer, along many example values that people use.
I'm use 66 in Vsel working at 1GHz or 66 working at 1.2Ghz...

HTC ONE X TIPS (OC__UV_GPU) Beast!!

Hi again people, wanna talk about the faux123 004 b6 kernel with u, first off the kernel is amazing when it comes to gaming and stability
now people are having problems with the interactive governore as it dosent use all 4 cores properly -1 (No big Deal) cause (hamdir) talked about how u can modify the OnDemand governor and make it alot better. And he is knowing what he is talkin about!!! So big love to U 2!
so i wanna share the settings im using with my kernel.
First System Tuner
upthresehold 60- 50 is to mutch I think
downthreshold: 10
i set Auto kill : Aggressive
UC CPU : 1.4Ghz- so it wont force stay on one core at 1.5Ghz (when ur running quad mode all are hitting 1.4Ghz
Now UV : first 5 : -225mvh and all others -150mvh and it works fine 4 me (Remember al chips are made in a different way so if it dosen work for u try a bit lower. if it wont work it will just reboot to the old values!
The UV does not affect the GPU like some say it does (ULP GPU are using low power it dosent need as much juice as other GPU´s and if my CPU all 4 can hit 1.4Ghz then it cant be a problem with the 520mhz GPU!
So if ur phone lags during gaming or just in general there is something wrong with the ROM or u have installed it wrong
I always make sure i have no data cashe or any thing left when installing a rom dont even restore old apps or data cuz that can be the problem so see u soon with some talkin abou the ViperX 1.0.1 ROM!

U know i really respect u bro, u have done so much for the one x when it comes to gaming, and i love ur work but i have alot of questions to u later today if u have time i send u a pm
and hamdir if what u are sayin about the UV is right then it must be something wrong with my phone couse it sticks at those UV values i talked about without no reboot, and i can play games for hours without overheating now.
but m8 i saw that u said that games can lag becouse of the UV with OC 520 mhz GPU is that true?
In my opinion i dont think so becouse the cpu ccan run full speed why not the Gpu that is made for not having to get high power?

ok the UV will show on the app, but its not really working, our kernel devs confirmed if you cross -100mv it stop working (tegra will ignore those values and stick to its defaults)
as for the GPU/CPU/UV speed question, im not sure but from my follow up on the Prime kernel development, it was clear UV "can" cause lag if the chip can't handle the reduced power
finally yes you can ask by pm, but if its useful for community ask in here
okay thanks m8 for these answers will ask u later about some other things, but i gotta go meet tha lady for now see ya later today prob...

it really depends, im using CM10 on 134-1024 Mhz. Most the games are smooth. Its safe to OC up to 1.4 GHz imo. 1.6 GHz and 1.8 GHz might damage over time and a lot of usage at max frequency
OC is always bad and dangerous, no matter what clocks you use.
Besides, OC doesn't give any major performance boost, you can barely see it.

oh,so u mean OC is not that useful at all?should I just stay ay 1024 then?
Why bother overclocking something that is outdated specification wise? And with an single core, the performance boost is non-existant because the core will be driven hard and generate heat and voila.. RIP!

It's not a matter of hearing it from someone. It will definitely happen if you overclock your phone since increasing the maximum frequency from the design limit will fry your phone.
