I have flashed numerous ROMs and none have had working Wimax. I am in Everett/ Lynnwood and can't get wimax to even to last long enough to measure. I have tried a number of modems as well. EL 29, FF18, FG20 and even the newest one which was available thru the goodness updater. By the way has anyone figured out how to measure Wimax? I used to have the Evo 4g and got a great signal and the Evo would tell you if you had good or poor signal, however I have not found anything to measure 4g speed on my E4GT and without 4G I can't do the adjustments suggested in another post.

Thanks for the heads up on that, right now I am going through the different modems to see if one of them will work. Is it possible this E4GT is a dud? Although my daughter is still on stock EL29 and she has bad Wimax as well.
I did notice that if I kept toggling the 4g and ran a speed test that I sometimes got better results - so far I am at FC14 and sometimes I get 2+ mb down with a ping under a hundred. My area of Seattle sucks, as I just tried Clearwire and am sending it back as well. Does anyone know of a good app that will measure the wimax, the one one the E4Gt doesn't work very well compared to what HTC has. Well I have been working on this for quite a while so time to crash
If you go to settings than go to 4g it shows you your connection in bars like back on gingerbread. If you want to get a more accurate reading than ##DEBUG# is your best option. It gives you your connection status in dbm. Lock code is 777468 not your msl. You'll find it in Wimax DM.

In that same menu screen go to Wimax CT and click open device. After that scroll all the way down and click on both the load default and odb load default. This resets 4g back to default sprint values. Try that and then try turning on 4g and see if it works. Lil hint clicking on Wimax IP in that same screen will automatically start up 4g

Thanks to everyone who had advice for me. Took it to the store and they gave me a new refurb with working 4G, ain't Sprint the greatest, the tech told me that things burn up on the boards all the time, that I probably got the battery to hot or that the 4g part of the board just died for no particular reason (last billing cycle I did 4Gb of Wimax and 3+ Gb of 3g - that is why I stay with Sprint lol, no throttling and no warning call or text)

As far as I know, no. Not unless you get a clear module, which is like your own hotspot, but you have to pay for it per month. Also people have had issues with the signal being lost/weakens when going from outside to inside buildings.
Airave wont boost your wimax, totally diffrent everything. Not sure if there is a wimax booster

You could try aluminum foil.
Actually, there is way to adjust your Wimax setting to allow it to pick up weaker signals. You need your MSL code. Do a ##3282#, go to edit mode, enter the MSL code, go to Wimax, and find the "WiMAX_Entry_RX(RSSI)(dBm) and adjust it from -89 to -95 and continue in small increments until you find a sweet spot.
I got this from a thread on here that another member created. I tried searching for it to post this but I couldn't find it. I take no credit for figuring this out.

Both posts above are right. It is in here. I will try and post a link if I can find it. I did the same tweaks on my OG Epic and they work well for me. There are certain setups depending if you are always in a good signal area or if you want it to connect faster, etc
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Essentially you are looking to lower the threshold for signal strength to connect and raise the timers for disconnect. It's not going to make your signal any better. It's only going to make it more usable--maybe. It could also keep you "connected" and not transmit or receive anything. Not too sure how that would be useful.
Well, i know there are things you can type for sure, but i've never heard from someone that has tested it and said it improved their 4g experience.
Was trying to find a signal amplifier because i'm in a weak 4g spot, but i'm not spending 600 bucks for something i should be getting anyway with my "premium data" 10 dollar addition to my bill from sprint.
Pisses me off that they expect their customers to be happy they are switching to LTE. Me and my expensive wimax phone are so happy sprint is changing their cell tech to LTE..

They are useful if you are in a good or fair 4g area. I live in a full bar 4g area and shortened the connect time and lowered the minimum signal strength a bit. I used same settings that I had on my OG Epic. If you don't get it now it most likely wont do anything or MAY get you 1 bar if you are in a fringe area

Can my antenna in my phone break if so can it be replaced our repaired or would I need a new phone. I have dropped it numerous times with very little exterior physical damage. My 3g download speed is .06 mbps and upload of .07. 4G doesn't connect anymore either.

I have had this problem too with ei22 for some reason it sucks
I would run a 3g turbocharger script and see if that improves it any I'll provide the script and instructions let me find my previous post about this
3G Turbocharger RC 3 : http://db.tt/sHUsSnUr
Download this and run it in script manager found on the market.
1. Open script manager and find the rc3.txt
2. A screen will pop up and make sure that the su icon is green or checked this means your running as root. Hit run
3. The command line will go through its script and at the end it will give you 6 options to choose from to boost speed.
4. There is not best option you need to play with them. So prior to installation you should run a speedtest.net to see what your current stats are.
5. Select whichever option I use epieremental 1, and reboot.
6. Run a test and see if its better
7. Test all of them and see which has the best result for you.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
If none of this helps then I would take it into sprint and ask them to test the antenna to see if its faulty
Sent From My "epic" SPH-D700 via XDA Premium
Thanks I did that earlier as I read into a post in the Q& A thread where you had given someone that same advice. It might not be my antenna because I went to Lunch and I had better signal elsewhere other than work. I've never had that problem before with my service at work. Also when I tilt my epic counterclockwise I lose signal. So maybe it its my antenna.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
It is also possible if your cell signal is very erratic that you have damaged the antenna connection. More than likely it is issues with a tower near you. Odin back to EC05 and see if 4G works again. Check with other Sprint users near you to see if their 4G is working.

If it is the antenna, Sprint will replace it. $35
I had my 4G go bad after jamming a copper wire in to far on the 4G port on the back killing the internal.

If it sits there and tries twice with no go and there is 4G. Then it's probably the antenna. It can just brake like that when dropped. Sprint will take it and turn it on. If it doesn't connect then they won't even question you. $35 new phone. well... refeb but you get the idea. If everything else works and it tries to connect, I wouldn't think its the modem or software. In those cases it will lockup or start force closing. But... It work, you dropped it, it doesn't work.... Antenna or like. There really isn't to much to do to fix it either. Do a CWM backup, get the new phone and restore.

I'm often connected to Wimax 4G but there is no internet connection. I'm using the latest I27 modem. I've had this issue with previous modems as well. Is there an issue with the OS not renewing the IP address?

It can be a number of issue you can determine ONLY yourself. I'd flash back to a stock ROM of your choice, along with EL29 modem (my personal favorite). Try out the 4G connection and see if it works then. It can also just be that the 4G towers around you are down or not working properly. Give clearWire a call if you have concern.

Ok true he did say modem so I take the builds part back. But in all honesty this has nothing to do with either. It happened on all my 4G Wimax phones. And I doubt there's a fix besides toggling 4G off and on. 4G Wimax always had this happen from time to time in my experience with other phones besides the E4GT.
Edit: also I've noticed it happens a lot when your 4G connection is only at one bar. So I guess coverage plays a role in it.

Could be that he is indeed under weak wimax signal or near the edge of it. He prob has his settings to connect above the -89dbm. So it connects but cant process it.
I think it's just wimax. I'm in Tyson's corner, VA on the Beltway heading towards Maryland. moving from a 3G network, connecting to a 4G Wimax but it's probably for about 20 seconds, then I'm probably on the edge of it. So it seems like it connects but never gets internet connection, unless I toggle the 4G button again.

I have a friend of a friend (yeah, I know) who works for Sprint/Nextel. Supposedly, they are knocking down 3G towers and not telling any of their customers.
Another issue that you may or may not be having is 4G downloads on custom kernels. If your 4G download speeds are very slow you may need to use a repack or stock kernel.

This is not true at all. Sprint is disbanding their iden network, beyond that, their towers operate at different frequencies so they carry 3g and 4g on the same tower. What your friend might have been referring to is the practice of re-directing towers when coverage is opened in a new area, which can affect existing service slightly, and typically customers aren't informed.

Just an idea.
