Not sure what's going on over there at goo.. after this weekends upgrade to speed I'm cruising a download from them at 5kbps.. WOW!! I can't believe it it's so FAST !!!! /sarcasm ... I wish some of the devs I follow would move to a different server.. like http://d-h.st/

goo.im does consistently have one the worst download speeds. Even free limited speeds at rapidshare and related have better speeds.

Posting what Koush said from G+

For the people that are not on G+ or follow a few of the cyanogenmod team members that are on it I wanted to repost what Koush said about an hour ago. I know people are waiting for CM7 on the E4GT but at the same time pestering the dev's is not going to get us anywhere and in turn could get them upset.
Epic 4G Touch Users: The devices were donated to us by RootzWiki, with absolutely no strings or expectations attached. Please stop asking for ETAs, it's extremely irritating and pretty disheartening.
Regardless, for those asking about Epic 4G Touch, here's what has been done with it so far:
The first official template/guide for building Samsung recoveries, specifically tested on Epic 4G Touch:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/8296-gui...rkmod-recovery-into-samsunginitramfs-devices/
It also helped add external/internal sd card support in CWR and RM:
https://twitter.com/clockworkmod/status/130005657024856064
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...mmit/89ed0b7355e93c145bb40483db5f79766a00e7df
You may not appreciate it, since it doesn't get you CM7 immediately. But this is the kind of work that streamlines the process for future Samsung devices getting properly supported and mainlined.

Just a reminder guys give them time and chill. It takes time to get something great for these phones.

Thanks for the update! just knowing that they are working on it has my mouth watering!
I agree with the op. Bothering developers about it will not get it done any faster. It might them quit working on it. So everyone please just enjoy your phone now and good things are coming to us.

The fact that Samsung can't even get off their ass to fix such a serious problem like LOS much less update their phones definitely makes people antsy about getting AOSP (which also helps bring other development)
Thanks for the update! I really need to follow them on Google+
Koush is the man! Noobs....let him be.
For what its worth I don't think the hangup is Samsung and lies more in the hands of Sprint who apparently have had a Samsung update submission and haven't done anything with it...for various reasons given I don't understand.
In addition to Samsung stepping up their game since the Samsung S's releases (namely beginning with SGS2 they also tried to counter their poor update record.
During the time I had the SGS2 from April through July we had THREE Samsung updates...coming fairly quickly after known issues.
The carrier here is the roadblock.
Lesson? Get the Nexus Prime.

The problem with the idea that Sprint is holding up the updates is three fold:
1) Why would Sprint hold up the LOS fix? They're losing money on constant credits and device exchanges.
2) Samsung has a history, no matter what carrier, of not being anywhere near prompt with updates.
3) Also, why would Sprint hold up updates for only Samsung devices? Other device makers don't seem to have issues.
I think the fact is, Samsung sees the international market as more important than the U.S., and is even less concerned with the CDMA market.
I am so exited! Got my phone and stock drove me CRAZY within a few hours. The folks at CM seriously spoil us. We are so lucky to have them. I don't know why the small group of geniuses at CM can develop a ROM that is AWESOME and the stock ROMs suck so bad. I mean, she wouldn't anyone want to know what their battery percentage is, or have options for their dock and lock screen style, or not throw their battery and performance in the dumpster!
Not only does CM put out awesome ROMs in a timely manner, they do it across like twenty devices and eight manufacturers for free! ! ! Friggin miraculous. Anyway, thank you! Let's not be impatient because the miracle takes a couple weeks longer than convenient.

I am here to offer my spare capacity when I have it to Developers, Contributors, Themer's and Leak sources. I am not here to compete with any of the hosts that exist which would require getting into the business. I have the spare capacity to host a couple of dev's and probably many smaller contributors. Kernel's have little impact for example, but full stock tar's eat up bandwidth pretty fast.
SFHUB is currently the main contributor I am hosting for. Sent out some offers to Calkulin and others to no response so far.
Server Info
The server is located out of an Internap data center in Chicago Illinois to provide even coverage for the continent of North America. I currently have up to 2TB of transfer set aside for donation.
Speed Tests ring out a bit like this from its native Chicago to New York, Seattle, Miami:
Check out Mirror 2 on any of SFHUB's ODIN OneClicks to see how fast you can download from the server.
Donations The server runs off my wallet as well as any donations that come in.
Second Post Contains the Unofficial Mirrors and File Repository

Alright I went ahead and threw the Donation system link up. I was going to wait a bit longer but the arrangment with SFHUB is good and should work out until atleast 2013 as well as having room for more people.
I ask nothing but beyond 2013 I am not sure if I will have the capacity without having to increase it. 20 a month total would increase transfer by a Terabyte. That would allow for more capacity now and guaranteed current capacity beyond the end of the year if it happened to have kept coming in. Entirely optional i recommend donating to the developers and contributors instead.
Added links to SFHUB's threads that have Mirror 2 on them for speed testing purposes for those interested in a mirror.

Haven't had any complaints. I think people with large pipes might be limited at the high-end, but for most everything is working great. Rain offered some space and I figured more mirrors means more robust. Lets us test out some mechanisms too.

As i said in my PM to him I was getting 300 to 500 KB/s most of the time though off peak times was getting at least 750KB/s. Total simultaneous speed while syncing your files I got about 3 MB/s. Pretty decent speeds no real complaint seeing as how under the full load he is taking my setup would slow down at least to that.
I also figure it will take a bit of a load off his server. Which will in turn speed up those who are downloading off his server. Im getting the stragglers so far about 3 an hour usually 30 to 40 Mbps. Actually right after I PM'd mavd i got my peak for a single download so far 57 Mbps or 7.1 MB/s. I have yet to put in a stats system so no real word on which downloads and how many a day.
All these have Mirror2 links to Rain's servers now:

I bet you anything this is because of server user overloads and/or capacity issues. I've had the same problems several times, come to think of it.

First point, this thread is nearly a year old. It's generally better not to go "thread digging" if the thread is this old.
Secondly, the XDA site's been as fast as ever for me. Your slowness issue might be ads, but it could also be a plethora of other causes. Here are two…
Your Internet might be unstable or having issues;
Your devices might have bugs or too much memory;
… so all in all, don't expect that just because the site is slow means that the site itself is having issues.

no biggie bro it all good. this just came out of the blue and i googled the xda slow down so i figured maybe they watch this thread. they dont have a report issue page separate from when the website goes down.
Yup, same slow loading times here too. I'm on a 30mbps connection on my computer, and it takes around 10 seconds to load a single page. It's the same thing on my phone, which is on LTE. It's understandable if it's a capacity issue, with all the Lollipop activity going on now, but it's making things really hard to pull off now, like effective communication with other devs during development.

[REQUEST] AOSP/CM10/etc buildbox donation thread [info inside]

PayPal here:
Any donations and/or support are greatly appreciated.
11/14/12: withdrew monies from PayPal. Putting it towards purchases of some more hardware. Leaving the donation link up because this project could surely use much more support! Thanks to everyone who contributed so far!
10/30/12: made a quick update to the chipin site. Still working on getting the chipin site and Paypal to sync properly, but all donations are definitely showing in the Paypal, so no worries.
UPDATE: The first donation of up to $50 dollars, I will match with a donation of $50.
UPDATE 2: Due to popular demand, there will be a "learner box" created for those that want to "experiment" with development on a faster machine. There should be enough parts to put it together and have it running as we approach the current project goal.
This is the official buildbox support thread. Many of you are probably wondering what a buildbox is... I will try to explain without getting too far sidetracked!
---Purpose---We are trying to raise money in support of multiple roms/devs. This is not for one particular dev, nor is it one particular rom. Consider this a donation to the community in which you are a part of. This is helping the devs have more resources at their disposal, and ultimately, helping you have a better rom! Please read below for more of an explanation.
---What is buildbox?---For the open source community (CM10, Paranoid Android, CNA, etc), the roms are built from source. Doing this is not very easy, nor is it quick! It takes a lot of time and effort. I don't want to simply 'thank' the devs and leave it at that. So, I have made a contribution to the open source community. I have commited a powerful server to the devs that choose to use it for building open source roms.
Now you say, "So what... they could use their own computer and build roms..."
Yes, they could. However, look at this. For many devs (especially since ICS and above), the build times have increased significantly!! I'm talking 4+ hours in some cases! In steps the buildbox. The buildbox (in it's current condition) has cut most build times to between 20 and 30 mins.
Then you ask, "Why does that matter to me?" Well, the quicker the rom is done, the quicker we discover bugs, and, in turn, can FIX bugs! Think about it: If you were waiting in the lobby at the car dealership for some work to be done and it was going to take 3 hours to complete the work, you wait. You aren't getting anything done. Now, if you were able to speed the process up to 25 min, you could get much more done that day because you aren't stuck for over 3 hours!
---Why does this matter to you?---Maybe more choices of roms, maybe nightlies of your favorite roms, maybe less bugs! A small donation toward our goal will help keep the hardware current and allow for the devs to get the great benefit of a powerful machine. Hard drive space is quickly filling up, the RAM is over full utilization, and other hardware improvements can be made.
PayPal here:
Any donations and/or support are greatly appreciated.
Currently supported devs (a big thanks goes out to them and their work!): Phantomphreak53 (CM10 nightlies), kbizzle (Paranoid Android), and justlovejoy (CNA)
PS: If anyone is looking for more info, has suggestions, or is interested in the project, feel free to pm me. All of the devs can vouch for me (even a couple not listed here). This is a legitimate request. We are counting on the open source community to keep this project going strong.
tl;dr, support open source development and make a donation to the development tools!
This Dude Is Amazing In his efforts to contribute to the true meaning of AOSP for ALL!
Thank You! Without You CNA wouldnt have moved as fast as it did and my future ROM's
Hopefully too! Thank You Again Sir!
If I had the money to throw down on this I would definitely make a donation for this.
Not only would this help cut build times, this would also speed up the time it takes to sync repositories, depending on the connection that the build box has.

I use to donate to Developers, because they spend time developing instead studying, hanging with friends or family etc.
But to be honest, and judging about other threads by you. This sounds more like: "i want a new computer" than "lets help the community".
I hope to be wrong.
Sent from my O=O
This is not a "I want to buy a new computer" type of thread.
This is a thread for donations to help keep his server up and running. Running a cloud based server for building from source requires a good internet connection, and I'm not talking 12, 20, or even 50Mbps... at the minimum it needs a good fiber connection with something like 100Mbps down and at a minimum 50Mbps up.
Just think of this, it is similar to a virtual machine you can run at home.. but you can have multiple sessions running at once. Justlovejoy could be doing something, slick_rick could be doing something, sbrissen, phantomphreak, etc. If one needs to do a sync of the repository, there would be plenty of bandwidth and processing power for all of the developers to do so.
With donations, he could go out and get more memory for making backups. He could set a cron job for something like 6 in the morning after the nightly builds complete to make a backup image of the entire build box. Our developers work is safe if there is ever any failure. That means less time reconfiguring build environment, syncing repositories, building, committing changes to github...

No love for sbrissen? Pretty sure most (all?) of JB development is using part of his code or chris41g's

We would not have jellybean if it was not for sbrissen. End of story. All other developers are secondary.

I use to donate to Developers, because they spend time developing instead studying, hanging with friends or family etc.
But to be honest, and judging about other threads by you. This sounds more like: "i want a new computer" than "lets help the community".
I hope to be wrong.

I invite you to read the information contained in the link to the chipin site. I have tried to elaborate as much as possible to help everyone understand the purpose of this project. I am including a quote from the chipin site (which I plan to update with any future upgrades for the project):

It is completely maintained, updated, and kept running by me. On my own donated time and money. And is completely "owned" by others. I do not benefit from any of this directly. The community (users and devs) benefit from this project.**

You are correct, we owe credit to sbrissen for jellbybean. These "secondary devs" have produced many good roms. They have allowed the community more choices. They actively work on fixes. They try to answer the communities requests. They provide you nightlies (for the flash-o-holics out there). It doesn't sound like you are giving these "secondary devs" as much credit as they are due.
This is a completely independent project. Without support from the community, it will be hard for these great devs to continue to put out the work that they do.

Thats not the point of this thread. Everyone here knows sbrissen brought us JB and were all grateful for that.

That's my point. Why is he not included into this?. Afaik he is the only one developing AOSP as the thread title indicates.

AOSP stands for android open source project. All of the roms listed are not touchwiz. Hence, they are AOSP. Also, the thread doesn't ever "not include" sbrissen or others. It simply states the devs that use the buildbox that I have created. That is all stated in everything I have written. If you want to donate to sbrissen, that is your choice.
As basketthis has already said... this buildbox is not only limited to the devs that are currently using his server.
I would imagine if the resources like CPUs, RAM, and bandwidth allow for it... any dev that builds from source can use this option to build their source built roms. Even kernel devs such as Agat could use this option to build from source.
The sky is the limit to how many devs could take advantage of this, the only thing that is holding this back is contributions from the community. Instead of donating $5 to a dev, you could donate 3 or 4 and donate 1 or 2 to the build box fund... or you could just donate to the dev and the dev should donate for using the build box. Either way, there will be contributions to help keep the build box up and running.

Umm the point of this thread is for e4gt users to donate (if they want) to this build box so devs can put out their roms quicker and such. Nowhere does it say sbrissen isn't allowed to use it. If he wanted to use it I'm sure he could.

Hmmmmmm how would one get this build box to try out? I kinda want to "tinker" with source building but my laptop sucks. The specs are horrible

You must challenge and defeat Chuck Norris at a game of thumb wars.
But, seriously, just trying to help out the badasses around here. If more resources become available, I will be happy to invite more.
I would make a donation to say sbrissen before i made a dination like this. This seems highly risky to me.

Risky??? Your joking right? This is the type of thing the developers you are going to donate to will be using to build ROMs you are donating for...
This community has been scarred by people like SG...

Its by invite only? No wonder. Fail.
If you can prove you are a good enough dev, you would get an invite to use this service.
How is that a fail? Are you expecting complete noobs to use this and waste resources? If someone wants to get their feet wet with development, run a virtual machine.
This service is for speeding up build times for experienced devs...

That's fine but it should be a service for everyone who wants to try to develop. I have a itch to learn but like I said I don't have a computer with enough hardware to build a source ROM with. So how can I "prove myself" to anyone. Either way I won't donate to something I got absolutely zero access too. That's just my 2 cents. I'm sure others feel the same.

Looking to get PhantomPhreak53 some more permanent hosting.

I jumped in when Shabby's host cut him off after cmupdater appears to have gone crazy and ate up a ton of bandwidth. But overall I was planning on being out of hosting for developers by the end of the year so its rather temporary. There were a couple other offers brought up at the time so those might still be on the table.
I offered to take the 10 bucks someone donated and chip in and get him a domain and 1 year of hosting over at that horrible company 1&1 but it was doing the job before and it will suffice again.
Phantom is busy working on something and isn't giving me any clues so I dunno what to do. Jan 1st I need to redirect cmupdater requests to another server, question is where. Projected usage this month is 3 TB, pretty low demand with an average of about 60 GB a day at the moment.

What about AndroidFileHost? I'll also check with rwilco12 as I think he may have another suggestion.

Well whatever is used needs to have ftp uploading and the abillity for a program to directly access a file with no website, waiting or anything inbetween as cmupdater reads directly from a file on the server. Now Chris said something about people using goo.im for cmupdater but unless someone wants to explain that I cant say hey go use this or that see ya. Needs to work out of the box with no fiddling for the most part.
I know he already has a goo... what about dev host?

Dev Host will have a limit of 20GB of file storage. AFH won't.
I'm checking on that now but may have to wait until I get home.

Once again with these hosts can you direct link to a file? cmupdater is going to point to whatever.whatever.com/whatever/api and if the file is not delivered right away then it will not work. Put it to you this way whatever I turn him over to has to work. 1/1/2013 I am going to redirect the links there and if it doesnt work, CM10 nightlies = bye bye until someone figures it out. Any real host works fine, anything that works like a file sharing site might not I cant just shove this into a corner and say sorry about your luck.
I contacted one guy who had a dedicated server as well before see what he says. Shabby is still combating high usage after the fact and well maybe I shouldnt have gotten back in only to have to say bye at the end of the year.
I'm sure folks appreciate you jumping in, if only for a temporary fix. This at least gives a little time to get it figured out.

I was going to carry on a bit longer just for Phantom but the current and predicted load mean increased operating costs in the future and I just don't have it in me. So I had to make the decision to help him on to the next spot. I wish I could carry on.
Don't worry all current builds (11/26 and up) I can redirect to the new server so none of the builds that can see updates now will be left in the dark.
I have used Dreamhost in the past. No complaints for the price but we didn't have much traffic. Very easy to get up and running.

Yeah but unless someone has a dreamhost account to donate. Its a matter of there is no money coming out of his pocket. I don't want to start an account on something and have to deal with closing it out after a year to everyone's disappointment.
Sent inquiry to AFH admin... will let you guys know what the result is.

Will be glad to try and set something up with you. Will email you shortly
Currently have 7 Servers in 5 States with a combined bandwidth of over 800TB of BW allocated each month Sure I can fit ya in somewhere
I sent you a PM RepinSpor. Assuming this will work for you as well I will pass along the small donation that was given to me by one of his supporters. Hopefully the hosting will draw you in a little more support as well.
I'm good irl friends with the devhost owners. I'll see what I can do...

Recieved thanks. Sorry for the delays in responding. Work is a bit hectic today. I will gladly work with you and the others to insure you updater works on our servers and can shoot out the nightlies to everyone
In addition to AFH i also host nightlies and other sites for developers so this shouldn't be a problem
Alright thanks man and no rush. Have a couple weeks before the end of the year
