Setcpu(manages cpu clock) and solid explorer(file explorer) are must have root apps.
OsiMood_v2.06.07 is my prefered rom. It comes with quickpanel settings app which lets you can change the toggles in the notification menu.

Unfortunately, the FBI seems to like Snappzmarket too. Or rather, not like.

System App Mover, AdFree, Apex Launcher, LBE Privacy Guard, Root Explorer, Titanium Backkup, that´s all for now.

I would suggest using the following apps, some depend on what rom/firmware your using.
*** apps ***
Titanium Backup
Root uninstaller
SD Maid
System Tuner
ES File Manager (or any file manager that allows you root access.)
Adb wireless
App2Rom
Avast! Mobile Security
Go Backup
Root booter (paid for app)
Sqlite installer for root
Busy box
Super SU
*** ROM Specific ***
Rom toolbox pro (has a lite version but pro paid is much better!)
ROM Manager premium
Boot logo manager
And all these apps have others below on play store, bottom of each respective app that others either have installed or users also viewed catagories..

[Q] How do I uninstall uninstallable apps?

For instance, I install a ROM that includes an app which I TOTALLY don't want, but will not let me uninstall through app manager, or even an app on the rooted stock version if I didn't want to use a custom ROM.... is there some sort of combination of Superuser Permissions and another app? I thought I remember reading something about a file explorer w/SU that lets you do that, but I can't find the post. =[
Use Titanium Backup, can uninstall pretty much anything

If you rooted system app remover from the market.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Faaaaaaantastic! TiB worked like a charm =] Cheers mate!
Also, the explorer you were referring to is called root explorer. That works great. I used it to go into /system/apps and rename all the Sprint crap to .bak at the end of the file type, and they no longer run or show in app drawer. But they're not deleted, in case you ever need them back.
Download Titanium Backup, go to setting and enable "Chuck Norris" mode, and you are good to go. Definitely check out the safe to delete thread and don't uninstall anything that has to do with Google Talk. It will screw up your market downloads.

What's the best paid root apps

I'm looking at buying setcpu and rom manager pro. Just wanting to see what other paid root apps others are buying. Also what does rom manager pro have over the free version? Does Setcpu play well with z Roms, like NisP's business Rom?

Root explorer!
Titanium backup can also be useful.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
As far as I know, setcpu plays nice with all roms except for cm7 (has setcpu features built in). It's free for xda users, but you're encouraged to donate to the developer by purchasing it via android market. I love rom manager. It was nice discovering new roms and having it do the work of booting into recovery, backing up current rom, and flashing new rom automatically. The paid versions allow you to flash test builds like nightly builds. It also will let you know if there is an update to your rom.
I also like adfree android, but i believe that's free. It gets rid of ads in free apps, but keep in mind the ads usually allow the developer to release those apps for free.
xda link for setcpu http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419.
I'm fairly new at this and usually stay silent, but I thought I could contribute and help someone else out for a change.

Agreed, especially if you are testing out different roms. I have purchased both, but don't use either because I am content with cm7 for now.
Thanks for the help. I do have root explorer and titanium pro, really like both of those. I'll give setcpu a try
I don't know why I didn't mention it, but kernel manager pro is good too. It gives you various kernel options for your rom. I don't know the difference between the free and pro versions, but you can try out free version and then upgrade.

Hello all, I have rooted the phone and installed "no bloat" from the play store. I try to delete all the bloat apps..such as play books, but it fails to delete even after i grant it su acess.
What could be wrong?

I suggest trying Titanium Backup and seeing if there is a difference. It has helped me remove any bloat I did not want on my phone on many roms, including stock rooted ICS.

You are getting the super su prompt when launching titanium backup, correct? I've heard some issues with some people not having full root privileges on the stock rom. Try running a darkside cache wipe (in the dev section), reboot phone, and try again.

Please be sure to run the CACHE wipe and not the actual system wipe. Hope this resolves your issue.
download this app called root uninstaller. its so easy and free. i use this app instead because it only does one thing, which is delete any apps on your phone. system apps bloat apps and regular apps. keep it simple.
Could also be su issues. You could try to go in and delete the permissions and try again. Probably an issue with root though. could try a root check, dl updated bb and su, or just start over.
Thanks for the help everyone so far.
I went back to stock gb and rooted. Deleted the bloat
Thanks again!

Yes there is a better option. It's called my backup root. It is in the play store. There is also a pro version, you don't need it unless you want it

I more thing I need to know although it's Out Of Topic but still related: can I delete/it is safe to delete directories at internal SD specially directory that start with "." (dot) ?
"App Backup and Restore" also free in the market if all u want r ur apks.
Edit: I meant play store.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Your welcome. All the apk files are stored in a folder called reware so after you make a backup you technically don't need the app to install your back up. If you paid for the app you can share it with others like flight track or whatever.
To answer your questions about the directory, as long as it is on the root of your sd card, you should be good to delete it, stay away from the system folder and data folders. If you have any questions ask away

Huh? The Gmail app is a system app. It needs to be installed to /system/app. You cannot install it without root access.

You can side load updated versions of system apps without root access, and you get a notice that the app will replace a current system app but preserve user data. Whenever the Play Store app is updated and gets extracted and posted all over the forums, I just side load, agree to the warning and proceed. However, the system app that is being side loaded needs to be in an installable apk format which I understand to be its native odex format.

Although I'm no expert, I believe it still won't work. The reason you can install the apk extracted from the Play Store is because it is not a system app. It gets installed to /data/app. Apk's that come with a stock build are system apps, and cannot be installed into /data/app. They need to be installed into /system/app. Nothing can replace anything that is stored in /system unless you have root access. (/system is mounted as read-only in Android.)

Be my guest. Here ya go: http://www.androidtaskforce.com/2012/11/01/download-lg-nexus-4-system-dump/
Just an update. I was able to insert a few of the apps into an install zip and get them working with no problems. Wallet, keyboard, currents, play music, browser, Google +, and a couple others worked just fine. Gmail did not as I couldn't just insert all the framework apks as it would force close right away. Nothing ground breaking, but the new features are fun to see and experiment with.
The photosphere feature is very neat. I like the GPS embedded aspect of it too. YouTube seems to have a slicker interface. All in all 4.2 is very much improved over 4.1.2. I can't wait for that fresh aosp source!
