Cant delete the bloat - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hello all, I have rooted the phone and installed "no bloat" from the play store. I try to delete all the bloat apps..such as play books, but it fails to delete even after i grant it su acess.
What could be wrong?
I am running stock ics ( i find it better for me than cm9 at the moment)

I suggest trying Titanium Backup and seeing if there is a difference. It has helped me remove any bloat I did not want on my phone on many roms, including stock rooted ICS.

What's your root app: Super SU or Superuser?
Also how did you root? Flashing the Root.zip file in CWM?

You are getting the super su prompt when launching titanium backup, correct? I've heard some issues with some people not having full root privileges on the stock rom. Try running a darkside cache wipe (in the dev section), reboot phone, and try again.

Please be sure to run the CACHE wipe and not the actual system wipe. Hope this resolves your issue.

download this app called root uninstaller. its so easy and free. i use this app instead because it only does one thing, which is delete any apps on your phone. system apps bloat apps and regular apps. keep it simple.

Could also be su issues. You could try to go in and delete the permissions and try again. Probably an issue with root though. could try a root check, dl updated bb and su, or just start over.

Thanks for the help everyone so far.
I went back to stock gb and rooted. Deleted the bloat
Thanks again!

Unable to install busybox

I'm in the middle of trying to get things setup so I can try out the arm version of Bt5. Running stock rom, 2.3.4, using busybox installer downloaded from the market. Tried a few versions of busybox and the best I get is a restart. My suspicions are that it can't write to that part of the nand even with root unless I'm in recovery or something close to that. Anyone who has had this problem in the past care to shed some light on the subject?

Are you s-off? Do you have superuser installed and functioning? Which busybox installer are you using, stericsons or jrummys? Does it install fine and then crash when accessing it or will it not even install? Does it give any certain error messages?
Try this from the V6 OP.

Flashable zip of newest busybox.
Backup first, just in case.

Superuser is installed and running, was trying jrummy, the app installs and loads. Busybox does not install at all and I was getting no errors, it would force the dinc to restart.

Worth a try, cant hurt anything.
Have busybox installed but still can not load Bt5. I'm going to try some screen shots and see if that might give some better ideas as to what the issue might be.

Why do you want to remove it?
You can use sfhub's one-click to add your root back if you want.

Long press the super user app. When it goes to the home screen drag it up to app info. Then it will bring you to the app source. Force stop clear cache then disable. Once done with that it should be removed.from your apps.

Superuser is installed in the /system partition, so once you get rid of root priviliges, you can't remove it using normal app remove.
If you want pure stock FF18, just flash #B3 in the FF18 ODIN OneClick thread. It is just the ROM, no kernel, no modem, no reset of your user data.

If you want root back, flash #B4 in the same thread. It is just the rooted ROM, no kernel, no modem, no reset of your user data.

Help With Root Explorer

Could anyone explain why I can't change my system folder in root explorer to r/o? System/app or system is stuck on R/W. I'm pretty sure I'm rooted as im running a custom Rom and have titanium bu etc. . What gives? I've never had this problem before.

Have any of you restored from a nandroid? That seems to be causing this issue for some people. The only solution I've seen is to reflash your ROM fresh.

Confirmed: Reflashing the ROM does fix the issue. Not sure why Nandroid restore messes that up. I wonder if its just the App or something embedded in the ROM ?
Pretty much getting the same errors. I've flashed multiple ROMs, thoroughly wiped, fixed permissions, reran/ updated SU and to no avail, root explorer does not have superuser access to certain folders in regards to establishing permissions and sometimes viewing content of a folder. I can install rooted apps and the run rooted apps.
This is an issue I have had. I know that reflashing a rom will fix the issue. but you can also download and use "supersu" instead of superuser. make sure you update your binary. if that does not work, download busybox. this seems to fix the problem for me. make sure you reboot after updating binary.
I was having this issues, I was on CWM 5.2.7, I updated to 6.x.x (touch) restored my backup, and viola! everything is back to normal. I have rebooted multiple times, and still have root!

I started from CWM 5.0.2.6, updated to 5.0.2.7 then went to TWRP 2.2.2. Maybe I lost it in flashing multiple recoveries?

[Q] Titanium Backup Pro can't uninstall stock apps

Hi,
I recently updated my Hercules T989 to Jellybean 4.1.2 via Kies. When I was on ICS, I could easily uninstall the t-mobile stock apps(or any other stock apps) using Titanium Backup Pro. But after upgrading to JB 4.1.2, I cant uninstall a single stock app. I tried updating Titanium backup pro from 4.1 to 4.5.6 but its still the same. It can freeze the apps but one app: 't-mobile accounts' unfreezes itself. I dont know how it happens. By the way, the device is rooted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you sure Titanium Backup has root permissions? Check your Superuser app log and make sure they're being granted. You need root access for Titanium Backup to be able to remove/freeze system apps (like the built-in stuff).

Yes, I have rooted my phone after I upgraded the firmware through kies. I checked my root status using the app 'Root Checker Basic'. It says my phone as proper root access.

Yes, I have checked it. TB has been granted root permissions. TB successfully freezes all my system apps. But only one app - "T-Mobile My Accounts" unfreezes itself automatically after a while. I dont know how or why that happens. All my other system apps stay frozen except that one single app. And about uninstalling, none of the system apps can be uninstalled. When I run the batch operation to uninstall, it shows the progress bar but gets stuck at 0%. No progress at all.

my problem along with a screenshot
TB freezes all my stock apps. but as I mentioned earlier, one app - "T-Mobile My accounts" unfreezes itself after a while. And when I try uninstalling any stock apps, it just gets stuck. The progress bar doesnt move (show any progress). I am attaching a link to a screenshot about what happens.

Please if anyone has found the solution to this problem, I would be very very grateful.
PS. : As other members suggested, I have checked everything. The Chuck Norris mode is on. TB has root permissions. Everything seems to be in order.

Sounds like you are using a stock based ROM then. So you will have to live with that app. Otherwise you may cause problems by trying to delete or freeze it. Anybody that is determined to remove it, you can use a root based file explorer and delete the apk from the system/app folder. Backup the app somewhere by copying & pasting it in another folder, so you can replace it later if you start experiencing issues.
