I got my Gio back yesterday after a few weeks on loan to a relative. And my girlfriend got a new Ace today. So its safe to say I've been busy with Android stuff.
As you all know too well, the Gio and Ace share a ridiculously small internal memory for applications. I had played with Apps2SD a little back in my CM7 days, but I wanted to check if there had been any new solutions since, one that worked with CM9.
I found out about CronMod via the search tool and a couple of posts and can report that once you format the /sd-ext partition properly (which the Gio CWM 5.0.2.7 has a hard time doing, see attachment for a quick fix) the INT2EXT+ script works like a charm.
Oh yeah, you'll probably have to mount /system prior to flashing the CronMod script.
I use s2e... when you do a factory reset or you restore a backup with cwm the sd-ext change from ext4 to ext2 and I lose all my apps. Mount2sd is also great script. I will test cronmod never heard it before

My girlfriend's brand new class 10 SD card somehow got corrupted (could be the card itself or the phone, won't bother investigating at the moment) and I figure she'll be better off managing the admittedly smaller internal memory for stability and reliability reasons.
works great, now i have 2gb internal memory, and no worry about link2sd not linking properly, much faster too thanks for the share

Did you mounted system first before flash this script?
Sent from my GT-S5660 using XDA Premium App
Does not work for me. This is what i did:
SD Card Partitioning:
Partition 1 - Fat32
Partition 2 - Ext 2/3/4
used mini-tool
Install:
(Instructions based on ClockWorkMod recovery)
-Download Chosen Script Below
-Place on root of your sdcard
-Reboot Recovery
-Select "install zip from sdcard"
-Select "choose zip from sdcard"
-Select "CronMod-****_signed"
-Select "mounts and storage" category
-Select "format /sd-ext"
-Reboot
This did not give me more internal space. Only did get a usb storage.
What went wrong?
This script works perfectly, but when you install a lot of apps (the essential ones) the phone starts lagging.
Is there any workaround for this issue?

Dont Link the most used apps to sd card and keep them in phone memory just link the apps that you dont use much~

Hello development community
I'm currently running an CM 9 on an unlocked, rooted Wildfire S. A while ago I created a 4 GB partition in my SD card (Ext 2 format I believe) and set link2sd to install all new apps to this partition (this is the tutorial I followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31544540 )
Anyway lately I've been having trouble installing new apps and larger updates (Facebook and DoubleTwist, namely) and my phone keeps telling me that I don't have enough memory. I tried wiping all my cache data and generally cleaning up, still no luck.
So I checked my storage usage in my settings, that's when things got interesting. My phone is telling me that I have 150 MB total of internal storage (which is how much there is without the partition), but somehow I have 229 MB used with 21.63 MB free. Doesn't take a mathematician to figure out that i can't be using 250 MB when there's only 150 MB to be had, however this 250 MB it's telling me I have is a lot less than the 4 GB of space I formatted and am linking everything too.
Does anyone know a way to get the phone to recognize the partition as internal space so it stops telling me I'm running out? I should be able to install any apps to my phone via my computer since they won't install directly from Google Play. Or is there a way I can set everything to just automatically install to the partition? That would solve my app installing problems but I might run into storage problems later on depending on how full my caches get. The more steps your give me the better, I'm still pretty new to this stuff :silly:
Thanks for any help!
PS. I checked some other threads but nothing I saw was helpful; so sorry if this is answered somewhere else, but I didn't find it.
After flashing rom did u flash the latest cronmod script

First of all, you can never use 4GB of your card as a partition Since there are some restrictions-- 100mb internal is needed for every 500mb sd-ext. We are getting around 100+ internal only for most of the ROMs , right? So you can use only around 600-700MB of the SD card as a partition.
Use min-partition tool and format your card and better make use of that card to the max. Format with ext4 (your choice) for around 700-800MB (Since 1/2/3/4GB is totally useless considering the above restriction) . After that, download and place this on SD card .
Before we go any further make sure that there are no scripts already loaded in that ROM you are using. (Apps2SD, Link2SD, etc). You need to have init.d support to make this work. This , you can verify by opening the ROM zip package and follow the path - system/etc . If you see a "init.d" folder there, then you have this support. All CM9 ROMs have this (I believe). So, now you make sure that the ROM whichever you are trying doesn't have any link2sd or apps2sd pre-loaded in it.
Then do the following.
* Put both the ROM and INT2EXT file on the SD card.
1- Goto Recovery.
2- Wipe Dalvik Cache, Battery Stats (Twice - Just to make sure )
3- Factory reset , Wipe Cache partition (Twice)
4- 'Choose zip from SD card' and select your ROM. Wait until it has finished installation.
5- Once Finished, again 'Choose zip from SD card' and flash/install the INT2EXT file that you have already placed on SD card.
6- Once done, reboot the phone. Goto settings->Apps and check if you have 'added' memory now
7- Go to recovery again and Flash GAPPS.
You are all set to Rock and Roll
Check this if you need more information
Hey, this will give you better space manipulation than the Link2SD, but still this is also limited to use, You can't fill all the internal memory. That will considerably lag your phone. Use the internal memory wisely
I guess this helps. And don't forget to thank "croniccorey" for his work
Thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much for the post! I know it's been a while since the OP, but this worked perfectly! My phone now tells me that I have 705MB of internal storage. I believe all my problems have now been solved. I literally can't say "Thank you" enough!
Hi everyone,
I'm kind of new in the whole moding life and I have some few questions for you.
I just installed the DroidWFS Rom (based on Droid Ace) from this topic : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227402.
Just before this, I was on CyanogenMod 9 but the Data bug made me switch.
So the installation was done with success.
But I was wondering:
- it says in the topic of the rom that the latest play store is installed but I cannot find it.
- it says "No 2ext /...2SD scripts by default", how do i make it work? I was using link2sd with cyanogenmod 9
Thank's a lot for your help (and sorry if i'm not in the correct category)
Hi,
what's that data bug? heard about that a lot, but never really encountered it.
anyways, just google "gapps cm7", you'll find gapps package, just put it in your SD card, enter recovery and choose "install zip from sdcard".
for link2sd, I use int2ext cronmod, you can find it somewhere in the forums. but firstly you need to partition your SD card, if you haven't done it yet. enter recovery>advanced>partition sd card. 1024mb for the first option and 0mb swap size. go to mounts/storage, mount all possible partitions (don't remember which exactly, so to be sure mount them all) and finally flash int2ext zip file like I said to flash gapps zip.
Good luck!

Use INT2EXT+ its easyer, faster, and reliable. Make a ext2 partition on your SD card using ether a Partition PC Program or a different method, i recommend using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition and after you make the partition, re-install the ROM but dont start up the ROM now after you install the ROM install INT2EXT+ and now reboot your phone and your Internal Memory should be fine :good: You install the INT2EXT+ like you installed the ROM, just that first re-install the ROM then install the INT2EXT+
MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition Link: http://download.cnet.com/MiniTool-Partition-Wizard-Home-Edition/3000-2094_4-10962200.html
INT2EXT+: Attached
thanks
i did as you told me and i made it ext2 primary then i re-installed the rom and then i ran the script you gave me after installing gapps directly but it didnt work :'( :'( i tried to open link2sd but it said cannot mount script

Did you wipe cache partition? wipe data/factory reset? Download this other attachment I gave you. Then go to recovery, Go to wipe data/factory reset, the wipe cache partition then go to install zip from sdcard --> choose zip from sdcard --> SuperWipeMarvelcEdition it'll say that you should reboot your phone, dont reboot and go and install your ROM and after you installed it, install the INT2EXT2+ that i gave you! But do all that first, then after you did that, then you can start your ROM.
I tried everything for many hours, but every time I did a partition using PC the phone wouldn't read the card and in the end I just formatted the card to factory settings using the PC and tried the CWR partitioning, worked like a charm with Link2SD.
hi all,
the main reason for me unlocking my arc s was to mount an ext4 partition so there was no more agro with running out of internal ram.
ive tried various roms with various kernals and various scripts, the closest i got to one working was latest vengeance + latest viper + int2ext4+
but it kept lagging on video and internet..
i really liked viper but hdmi missing so waiting or 6.5....
ive just put lupusv16 + UHD4 + UHD mod and it is very impressive, the screen is better almost as stock with bravia2, hdmi very good and camera also very good, the question is which script definatly works properly with this setup? i dont want to move swap to int, just link ext4 on sd to int ram ??
cheers

With lupus kernel ver16 for ICS
only CronMod- INT2ext works even with partition ext4.
Am using the same.Internal up to 2.5GB,stock. ICS 0587 with said kernel.

didnt work, hangs on boot...
Did you formated it correctly?
I mean, both partitions, fat32 and ext must be primary and some users told me that i have to do them with a sd reader...
I use Link2sd in GB and it works fine (ext4, 2GB minus the journal)

Hi,
i plugged my 8gb sd card into my laptop and wiped it, then created a 6gb fat 32 partition, a 1.7gb ext4 partition & the remainder about 300mb as swap. then mounted fat copied hd4 rom, hd4 mod and int2ext to it. then into phone, booted to recovery, installed rom as per thread, rebooted phone, left it 20 mins, booted to recovery, flashed hd4 mod, rebooted phone, left for 20 mins, booted to recovery, installed int2ext script. rebooted phone, then it hangs on boot..
from what ive seen the int2ext scripts are difficult to get working correctly with no lag, fc's ect.
cheers

First of you are on ICS 4.0.4/stock fw 0587 aren't you.
Cos lupus kernel ver16 is for ICS.
Like what angel said both has got to be primary.
Your 6gb/primary/Fat32
Your 1.6gb/primary/Ext4
You should delete link2sd,or any other CronMod extension versions from your sdcard before you flash the CronMod INTEXT2.
After done flashing go to mount n storage and format sd-ext.Reboot.
If everything goes well look in titanium backup or setting/storage.It will show the internal memory you just acquired.
If you get bootloop after that then wipe cache and delvic cache and reflash it again following the above procedure again.
But I don't think you'll come to that.If all requirements are met than its a piece of cake.
Try it again. And one more thing,it doesn't lag if not it only faster from my experience using it.
Tell us of the outcome.By the way clicking the thanks button would be sufficient enough to anyone who assist you in the future here on xda.
Cheers.

its working, i formatted it with recovery and it worked?, i then checked the partition on my laptop and it wasnt bootable but it still works?
i then deleted the ext4 partition on my laptop and repartitioned it and didnt make it bootable and the phone booted straight up working.
i did use int2ext+ this time and not int2ext
dont know why it didnt work before unless something had put a file on the partition?
anyway

so i got as far a tesing a game, and its sooo laggy its unplayable.
im gunna forget it, i dont think my sd card is fast enough, benchmark 20ms read, 5ms write.

Had you tried use an app for linking the ext rather than just install a script? I know that it's basically the same but still...
By the way, this is what i do, and its working:
0- Make a nandroid backup
1- Install Mini partition tool wizard
2- Clear the sd - Clic on apply
3- Create a new fat32 partition (13355 MB, 13GB) Default cluster and set as primary - apply
4- In the unnalocated space make the ext 4 partition (2GB - Journal) set as primary - apply
5- Copy the backup into the sd
6- format everything like when you install a new rom
7- restore
8- Download link2sd and select the ext partition
9- Reset
10- Move apps to it :/
My sd card is class 10 but honestly i dont feel so much difference with a class 4 :/

i re installed rom & mod again, tested game and it was fine, so its def the script, i used int2ext this time instead and it was slightly better as it leaves data on internal for speed so im going to leave it untill i get a class 10 card then try int2ext again.

I have a little problem with my WFS. I partitioned the SD card to use Int2Ext4, but the ROM keeps saying that no SD card is present, even if it does use the EXT partition. I can mount the card in CWM, I can see it's content there.
I'm using the ROM from OWL Project (this thread), the last version of it.
I would post there, but I don't have the post count yet.
Any advice? I'm currently repartitioning my SD card and try again. I reflashed the ROM a couple of times, fixed permissions as well from CWM.
Did you format your partition on the SD card with EXT4? INT2EXT4 only supports the ext4 file system, not ext2 or ext3. I use the INT2EXTV2 on myl WFS with the OWL ROM for a few weeks and it works without problems so far.

Yes, I used Ext4. I tried flashing Int2Ext, Int2Ext+, Int2ExtV2+ and Int2Ext4+ from CWM, but I was always stuck on bootloop. The only way I made it work was by extracting the script file from Int2Ext4+ and placing it in /system/etc/init.d of the ROM zip. Flashed it, it worked, but then I got this problem )
I'm thinking that maybe the FAT32 partition was not formatted correctly. So I'm doing that now.
I repartitioned the SD card and now it worked correctly. Weird is, I did the same thing as before, so I'm not really sure why it wasn't working in the first time.

i format the sdcard, cache, dalvik, etc then flash the script (data2sd or int2ext or int2ext+ or watever) then goto advanced then select partition sd card, select 512 MB and 0 MB for linux swap space. DONE, hope solves it for you
I have too WFS with OWL project and i dont have any problem with this
Go to recovery menu and here create partition (befor it backup sd card)
Then go to mount and storage menu > mount usb storage >connect usb cable > give cronomod on sd
Then go to install zip from sd card and instal cronomod INT2EXT+
And have more memory
After instal cronomod dont stres android start is first longer but only first then normal speed
Thanks for the answers. I did say I fixed it already by repartitioning the card. Probably I didn't format it right.
