I have a little problem with my WFS. I partitioned the SD card to use Int2Ext4, but the ROM keeps saying that no SD card is present, even if it does use the EXT partition. I can mount the card in CWM, I can see it's content there.
I'm using the ROM from OWL Project (this thread), the last version of it.
I would post there, but I don't have the post count yet.
Any advice? I'm currently repartitioning my SD card and try again. I reflashed the ROM a couple of times, fixed permissions as well from CWM.
Did you format your partition on the SD card with EXT4? INT2EXT4 only supports the ext4 file system, not ext2 or ext3. I use the INT2EXTV2 on myl WFS with the OWL ROM for a few weeks and it works without problems so far.

Yes, I used Ext4. I tried flashing Int2Ext, Int2Ext+, Int2ExtV2+ and Int2Ext4+ from CWM, but I was always stuck on bootloop. The only way I made it work was by extracting the script file from Int2Ext4+ and placing it in /system/etc/init.d of the ROM zip. Flashed it, it worked, but then I got this problem )
I'm thinking that maybe the FAT32 partition was not formatted correctly. So I'm doing that now.
I repartitioned the SD card and now it worked correctly. Weird is, I did the same thing as before, so I'm not really sure why it wasn't working in the first time.

i format the sdcard, cache, dalvik, etc then flash the script (data2sd or int2ext or int2ext+ or watever) then goto advanced then select partition sd card, select 512 MB and 0 MB for linux swap space. DONE, hope solves it for you
I have too WFS with OWL project and i dont have any problem with this
Go to recovery menu and here create partition (befor it backup sd card)
Then go to mount and storage menu > mount usb storage >connect usb cable > give cronomod on sd
Then go to install zip from sd card and instal cronomod INT2EXT+
And have more memory
After instal cronomod dont stres android start is first longer but only first then normal speed
Thanks for the answers. I did say I fixed it already by repartitioning the card. Probably I didn't format it right.

How do I fix this? I made an EXT partition of 256mb and I even tried formatting the sd card. Using a Patriot 16gb Micro sd Class 10 (don't know if that is relevant)
Also installed the recovery from fastboot. CWM 3.0.0.5

Where are you getting this error? Are you trying to set up Apps2ext? I think currently that only works on Enomther's ROM. If you aren't trying to run Apps2Ext, what is the EXT partition on your SD card for?

Apps2EXT is the same as Apps2SD right? If that's the case then yeah that's what I'm trying to do. I thought EXT Partition works with CM7? If not then guess I'll stop trying. I get that error in recovery when I wipe Dalvik Cache and when I try to mount SD-EXT Partition or when I try to format it.

Apps2sd and Apps2sd are two diffreant thing apps2sd stores apps on a FAT formatted sdcard (which is what Froyo uses as native apps2sd with apps that allow it and no widgets) , while apps2ext stores apps on a partition on your sd card formatted to EXT file system, which your phone mounts as part of its internal system so it will support widgets and apps that previously could only be supported on internal storage, so it considers it internal storage even though its on the sd card, so no they are not the same thing, right now the only rom that supports apps2ext is Enoms rom.

I think nowawdays Apps2SD is used to refer to the system built-in to Froyo for moving apps to the SD card (does not use ext file system or need special partitioning). This just works out of the box on any Vision ROM.
CM7 uses the ext4 filesystem for all of it's partitions, which is new (not sure if that's what you are talking about). Hadn't heard it supports Apps2Ext, but maybe?
If you aren't using Apps2Ext though, you should expect to see a warning about a missing sd-ext partition when doing that stuff in recovery, so you're okay.
I have an 8GB SanDisk MicroSD, it had a 500MB SD-EXT partition made using ROM Manager with 0MB of Swap. I was using OpenDesire, the latest version.
However I decided to change to Cynanogen 6.1.1, as it is more stable. I decided to Un-Mount and Format my SD Card, as I know this wont format my SD-Ext. After Formatting my SD Card wouldn't re-mount so I connected it to my computer, and formatted it again, by right clicking and clicking Format in My Computer.
After doing this it said I had 7.86 GB of Memory on my SD-Card. This is how much is left on the SD Card with no Partition's or data. After I installed Cynanogen, when wiping the user data, I noticed that it said there was no SD-Ext partiton, and so it couldn't format it. I immidiatley went back to ROM Manager to create one, however when it gets to the Clockwork MOD Part I just get a error about a signature or something? Can anyone please help - thanks!
Perhaps the format option under settings wiped the whole SD card and repartitioned it with a single FAT partition, therefore deleting the EXT partition. Format from within windows/linux in future. AFAIK, there would not be an ext on a stock rom and therefore no need for one, so the format option just goes ahead an obliterates.
If you've got a nandroid you could just repartition and restore.
Sounds like it just formatted the whole thing into a single partition. Just partition it back again as your really suppose to do when switching roms.
I Have Just Gotten A 16GB SD Card And I Can't Seem To Use Nand Restore it says err 'run nandroid-mobile.sh restore through adb!

Im returning this sd card and getting a class 6 or 10 one
Hi Guys,
I too just bought a new 16gb Class 4 SD card today and want to upgrade.
I currently have a 4gb with 512mb EXT3 partition, Clockwork recovery, Insertcoin 1.0.8, S-ON - all working great (except 512mb is full).
Based on your experiences if I have no SD card reader should I do the following:
- Full Nandroid Backup on phone
- SD Fat32 backup to PC
- Switch off phone and insert new 16gb card
- Boot into HBOOT and wait for USB mode
- Boot my Linux USB drive into Gparted
- Create FAT32 and EXT3 parition (should 1.5gb be enough for EXT3?)
- Boot into recovery
- In advanced restore just restore the sd-ext portion in Nandroid to the new SD (is it issue EXT partition went from 512 to 1.5gb?)
- Boot phone?
- If issues swap back in original SD card and wipe sweat from brow
Many thanks for your help on this I am quite nervous about messing it up. I know there are many threads none none are clear on best method and many require card reader.
Thanks
Bridgstfer
Buy a card reader for future use...
all you need to do is -
Nandroid backup
Format your new sd card to what ever you like... Fat 32 1gb ext for example
Transfer all from old card to new card
Insert new Sd
advanced restore ext only
Done
Thanks.
Oh i think I forgot a step - obviously to do the restore with the new card I will need to boot windows again and copy the backup file to the FAT32 partition again (with phone still in HBOOT USB mode).
If I do the transfer your way how can I copy everything from old card to new card in windows or Ubuntu without card reader? Cant seem to mount the EXT in Ubuntu when plugged in through the phone.
While using old card transfer files to PC
Swap cards
Transfer files from PC to new sd
'Cant seem to mount the EXT in Ubuntu when plugged in through the phone' - Buy a card reader there better to use and very cheap
Worked - now upgraded to fresh 16gb SD using method from other thread! Now running 1gb EXT partition will all my apps installed + flash + other ones i couldnt install before and still have 90mb left on internal

hello,
first of all i would like to point out that i have searched for this topic and have tried a few solutions, but it didnt work..
here it goes..
so im switching to a new sd, and just tried to swap the cards but when i do that im either stuck in bootloop,
or if i reflash i have nothing installed on the phone (and i dont mean apps, bcs there isnt a lot of them and i dont mind reinstalling),
for example when i press settings it says it is not installed lol..
there is also nothing on the homescreens, and when the screen locks i cannot unlock it bcs there are no buttons..
Its a 16GB class 6 card with a fat 32, and ext3 (1024mb), and a ext4 (768mb), as is requred by some roms (feel free to correct me if im wrong)
The formatting was done by minitool, as i cannot go into disk drive mode to do it with gparted (with the new card inserted almost nothing works)
the old one is a 4gig with a etx3(1024mb) and works normally when i put it back, although sometimes it needs reflashing..
i have tried mirroring the old cards folder to the new one, via sd card reader, but it doesnt solve the problem...it stays the same..
any and all help is appreciated
You should do a nandroid backup of your rom, copy entire FAT32 over to the new card and then do a nandroid restore.

It was used by scripts which are not developed for about a year and thus obsolete. No mainstream script requires that.
Thx (hvala
will try it later on today....do i need any ext partitions?
is ext3 enough?

It is enough, but the question remains whether it will work if you used that same dual ext partitions setup on your old 4GB card. I'm not sure, but maybe someone could clarify that. Ext partition is needed, otherwise you'll end in a bootloop - especially if some vital parts of the rom were symlinked there.
I presume you have cwm recovery installed.
If so format your card with SDformatter V 3.1. TO FAT 32 with size adjustment on.
This will format all your card to fat32,
Put the card back in phone and partition the card from within cwm recovery,
Select size of ext partition (1024kb is usually big enough) select 0 for swap.
Ext partitions are used to save on internal memory by moving apps ( (and sometimes data and dalvik cache aswell) to the ext partition and using it as if it was internal memory.
Hope this helps...
i have used only ext3 on my old card...so i guess the same would work on the new one....
so if i got this right, i can restore the old rom via nandroid...and i guess flashing something else in the future should also work...
CWM Recovery is at version 5.0.2.6 at the moment this partitions sdext with ext3 which works fine on nearly all roms. There is a 4Ext Recovery available which can convert ext3 to ext4 if required, just do a search for it if you need it, but you should be fine with ext3.
i have AmonRA
edit: am i able to to the same with it?
i remember it has the format option in the menu...
also 1024kb?
i have 1024mb lol
Yea I presume so, I use cwm!. Just follow the instructions for your rom..and create the partition if required
The restore thingy didnt help, ima still stuck at boot logo, or if i try another restore, i manage to boot, but again nothing is installed (settings and stuff)
will try the reformat and see how it goes...
why cant i just flash a brand new rom to this empty card?
So recently I installed the slim bean 4.2 build on my evo. I also tried Roehsoft Ram Expander just to try it out. I don't know if it matters, but I figured I would throw it out there. Heres my problem:
I tried installing the 4.2 AOKP and 4.2 AOSPA roms on the phone but they just keep bootlooping. After extensive trouble shooting, they asked if my sd card was partitioned. I deleted the swap partition on the ext sd card, but in the process I realized the phone doesn't recognize it's internal sd card. Like at all. The phone always boots and all, it just won't show it up in any file explorers or recovery. If I take out the ext sd card and try to download something, it says that an sd card is required to download something.
Any clue whats up here?
Ended up wiping and partitioning external sd card with a 1024 ext-3 partition. Link is in comments below
Your EVO's sdcard must have an sd-ext partition formatted with either an ext3 or ext4 file system in order to install a Jelly Bean ROM. You can read an explanation of sdcard partitioning at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158993. Before you partition your sdcard, do not forget to copy the entire contents of the sdcard to an empty folder on your computer first since partitioning will destroy all data on the sdcard! I recommend either a 512 MB extended partition (sd-ext) for 8GB sdcard or 1024 MB extended partition for 32 GB sdcard and formatting the sd-ext partition with the ext3 file system as this configuration will work with Gingerbread as well as ICS and JellyBean ROMs. Once you have partitioned and formatted the sdcard, copy the original contents of the sdcard from your computer to the newly formatted sdcard.

I am confused because I was able to install a JB rom without doing this. I just flashed the files for slim bean. I couldn't even partition it if i wanted to, because when I try to mount the sd card in recovery it says that there is no SD card.

Bobwalker,
Not sure where you got the info about having a partitioned card to install jb. That is not correct information. All jb and ics roms are small enough to fit on the system partition and do not need to use symlinks to the sdext partition in order to run. You can technically install a jb or ics rom without any sdcard present. Note I say technically since most users do not know how to install a rom any other way than recovery. Point is you dont have to have a sdext partition but it is recommended for apps since the og have a very small data partition size.
