NOT a Question BUT an answer to solve your problem! - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

To whom it my concern:
I have been the guy who had dealt with ups and downs with the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Mostly downs! But this thread is to simply help those with the LTE Galaxy Nexus and needing answers as to What rom is best and/or Kernel.
My experience lately with one of the greatest ROMS has been awesome! Along with a Kernel i separately flashed. Both 4.1.1 AOSP Liquid Smooth Rom and Franco Kernel has made me the happiest man with a Galaxy Nexus and definitely saved me a few hundreds, considering i was close on buying the GS3. A lot that i was looking for, i found in both of these babies.
I can go all day about how wonderful both of these go hand and hand. Just know this completely solves battery issues (I dealt with a battery life lasting about 6 hours and NOW i go about 12 to 13 hours). Does a good job with customization (for me at least). Performance is buttery LIQUID smooth.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1422956 --->>> heres the link to the wonderful Franco kernel.
Everything you NEED to know, is on the developers thread ^^^ ... i personally take NO credit for these mods.
Big thanks to the great Developers on Team Liquid.
I just wanted to share with you all, those who are looking for something better. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for your input. I however have the SMOOTHEST and most trouble free rom and kernal. STOCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the one phone if you can wait for JB there really is no need for anything more then unlocked boot and rom....
Glad you found your happy spot though!

ROM comparisons

Hi guys I'm pretty new to the world of Android after going through several generations of iPhones I got bored and love my GS2. Now I see that there's a bunch of roms to choose from and I was curious if there were any websites that specifically review them. In a non biased way. In reality I'm looking for the ROM that has the best battery life but is hard to know based on the individual room descriptions. Thank you in advance and thank you developers for giving us so many options.
Your best bet would be to skim the ROM threads and make a decision on which rom will suit you best based on pros and cons that users report. The number of hits each thread has gives you a vague idea of the popularity of a specific rom. Really the only person that can make unbiased reviews on these roms is you because in the end the "best rom" is entirely up to you and your specific needs

FLASH THEM ALLLLLL
Honestly, all the roms here are quick and smooth.. my DD (daily driver) right now is dewizzed + faux kernel + gideon's script (incredible battery life)
I chose dewizzed because of the simplicity of it.
people say that synergy has good battery life with dewizzed, but you might encounter a few lag stutters here and there? not sure.. im actually testing it right now.
Okay now if you want it to be more stock, i recommend Juggernaut rom, that's probably the best touchwiz rom out right now.. battery life good but not as good as dewizzed.
If you want to see what an android is capable of in a theme category, check out thursday's rom, Tuesday. I played with it for a couple hours but the purple was too much for me. great rom though.
Haven't really tried any of the rest. good luck and welcome!
Since i got my gs2 about a month ago, i flashed the bombaridier 3.5 rom and i never look back.
If battery life is ur top priority this rom iss for u. I easily get 18-20 hours with moderate use everyday. Plus its stable and fast. All i have done is put the ics theme and thats it
Give it a try, u wont regret it

If you want a site that reviews roms and gives some good advice and tricks for the gs2 then go to galaxys2root.com they have stuff for all versions. Btw i am not afilliated with the site at all, i just use it to see the roms before i flash them

Best rom for T989

Im new here. I just saw a closed thread asking what teh best rom is for T989. Ive used a bunch and can say without a doubt the Juggernaut and Slick Mod 3.4 is best.
Dont even bother with the ICS roms cause they all have really bad problems.
When installing appps they would not work right . The camera wouldnt work right on some.
The audio would echo on some.
The screen would be ugly on some.
So.
Try out the latest Juggernaut and the Slick Mod 3.4
I run Juggs also but this is subject is pure opinion. For example, Juggernaut is not the best ROM if you want to try out S-voice, since that only works on ICS. I hear all sorts of great things about Darkside as well. That thread was probably locked because there is no real answer to this question.
Juggs doesn't work well for me. I've installed it a few times over the last few months. No workie. TDJ's roms OTOH are flawless.
That said, the reason these best ROM threads are always closed is because its subjective and personal opinion. Just like the op. Pure opinion.
In before the lock.

^-What they said and, this community is based around development. The only way developers can truly improve their "products" is if good people like us test it out for them and report back any issues. That is the point of all of this. If you are fortunate enough to dl a ROM and everything works beautifully from day one, GREAT! However, you should consider that the exception and not the rule.
Asking others to avoid newer ROM's or those that are still in development only serves to hurt the entire community by breaking the development cycle at it's core. Software development takes time and dedication to make things come out right and the testing/debug phase is arguably the most important. Enjoy your "functional" ROM's but keep in mind, they work as well as they do because of this phase.
best rom right now
Jedi mind trick ROM is the ****** lol go get it!!!
^ What he said...Currently running JMT v4 and liking it...a lot.
it's all a matter of personal opinion and preference. My first DD was darkside evolution 3v8. But once JB hit the scene I really haven't had a DD cause I'm enjoying helping the community in a whole to make better new roms for new experiences on our device. So in a nut shell, just dive in bro and enjoy the ride. It's well worth it!!!!
But then again, that's just my opinion as I stated from jump.
SGH_T989 (Hercules)
TWRP 2.2.0
AOKP JB 8-14
TDJ's Venom 7.2 (AOKP)
UVLE1 Mod Radio
Darkside Evolution Venom for me - it allows for wifi calling as well.
jedi mind trickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk trust meeeeeeeeeeeee lol hope yaa enjoy its stable to the max
^ See, he knows!

hahaaaaaa we everywhere shutting it downnnnnnnnnnnnnn :good:
Yea Jedi Mind Trick is definitely one of the best ROMs. It's super fast and looks great.
Jedi-mind trick!
it does not have all additional languages. I'd like to see Chinese language to this rom(it is in the list and can selected, but it isn't fully translated).
Ya know...best rom is in the eye of the beholder. I've used almost all of them and think that they all have their ups and downs. In reality that's something for you to decide for yourself. Its kind of like pepsi and coke. I like pepsi and you may disagree and like coke.
Have fun with it, shouldn't be about social pressures to have what everyone else likes. Play around and decide what did YOUR style.
K...stepping off the soap box.
 cheers
sent from my T989 full of CM awesomeness and a touch of Venom from the Darkside!!
Jedi mins trick is one of the bet ICS ROMs. But I recently switched to AOKP JB ROM and it is really cool. It is butter smooth and has Google now completely working. I have been using this ROM for 2 days and so far no issues !

I'm using Jedi v.7 and I LOVE it. I was on Juggs for the longest time because I didn't feel the ICS roms were ready for prime time, but Jedi changed all that for me. It's butter smooth and Fast. Battery life isn't the best, but with such a responsive rom, I can sacrifice some batt life for performance.

Getting my Nexus, got questions?

Hi, so i took the plunge and finally ordered the Galaxy Nexus GSM a few days ago and can't wait to get the phone in my hand.
I was playing with the phone and was greatly impressed, I really am excited about all the jelly bean features so i can't wait. Now i have a few questions that I hope could get answered..
fist what are the best things you guys could recommend as far as ROMs, Launchers, and tweeks to do?
is there any good type wallet case or cover that you would recommend?
thanks again
As far as ROMs go, it really depends on what you plan to do with it.
I personally use Trinity Kernel running with RasCream ROM for now until I decide to switch back to a worthy Jelly Bean ROM, but like I said; it really depends on what you plan on doing with your phone.
If you are looking for maximum performance, go with the combo I listed above. Kernel ROM
If you want something new and basic, go with the stock Jelly Bean, its really smooth and worth a try for at least a week.
If you want something with good customization, and great stability; go CyanogenMOD 9 (10 should be released soon though)
Some worthy kernels would be:
Franco's Kernel
Faux's Kernel
Trinity
This is FAR from a complete list, but a great starting point. I hope this helps!
Rooted jell bean is enough for me once aokp goes jb I will be all over that for now though I will stick with it this way
sent from my GNexus rocking Jelly Bean!
As far as launcher go, I can recommend ADW Launcher, it's got a lot of features. But the stock launcher has been getting better and better, too, so I'd first try the stock launcher and, if you decide that you don't like it, try ADW Launcher.
Thank you guys for the answers.
I'm excited to see such am awesome community!!
Android Open Kang Project. You won't regret it.

Possibly buying SGS III today

while it's only $100 at best buy. How's the development for this one (AT&T)? It looks like 9/10 of the ROMs have been abandoned and not updated for a month or more, is there some reason for this?
Anyway, if I get the SGSIII I will NEED
GPS that locks within 30 seconds, I get lost A LOT.
Working audio (no skipping or weird issues) from the 3.5mm connector
stable and doesn't crash or go really slow
Camera working enough to at least take clear pictures quickly
Do any ROMs do this currently?
Also a couple other questions. What can I expect for battery life, does it last a whole day with moderately heavy use? Any known issues that just come with the device and can't be/aren't currently fixed, like crapple's camera flare or my Infuse's terrible GPS (that got fixed with a relaunch and silent recall)?
Wtf. Almost every cm10 or aokp rom has been updated nightly. Most touchwiz roms don't get updated since they are close to being finished since there are no bugs on stock roms.
If you want it to work good run touchwiz roms. With battery I get 15 to 25 hours and about 4 hours on screen time which is pretty heavy use. As for bugs none I know of on stock. Everything works flawlessly.

you can use aokp, Its great!
While the International version has a ton of roms, the I747 has a good amount of solid builds. You can have your choice of stock ics touchwiz (ariel), jelly bean touchwiz leaks (aristodemos, serenity) and aosp jellybean hybrids (aokp, liquid smooth, paranoid android). All work perfectly with GPS locking on within 15 seconds max. Never had a problem.

100$ outright or under contract? BB canada is 0$ on our crappy 3 year plan
Yea.... a lot of the TouchWiz ICS ROM's haven't had updates lately because there isn't really a whole lot for them to do with the ROM, since it was pretty much complete to begin with. Just about all they really did on them is remove bloat, add custom themes, and tweak some stuff here and there. The TouchWiz JB ROM's still get updated fairly regularly, since there are still tweaks to be made here and there, and things to be updated as new leaks arise. But stuff like Cyanogenmod and the different ROM's built off of it are updated daily or every other day or two.
Been using CM10 nightly and now on M2 stable build. I use it as daily driver and don't have any issues. You won't be disappointed OP
I'll give my two cents as I've had this phone for bout 4 days now and I am coming of iOS.
I am a fairly techy user. I I run Linux servers for fun. I am but never got jntk android because I figured I'd play with the phone more than use it and it would end up being broken half the time.
Immediately after getting it I rooted it and flashed the rom and have already tried CM10, two TW ROMs and whatever else I could get my hand on.
Ultimately for stability purposes I'm still on stock. The phone is really good in terms of use, and but be prepared to know that ROMing it is still an experimental thing and if you want it to work flawlessly, and you'll most probably sitting on stock (which is not a bad thing)

not to hijack the thread..
but is Ariel the ATT equal of CleanRom for verizon?
I'm on SlimBean but battery isn't stellar... so going to try my luck at a touchwiz rom.
I have a international gs3 9300 and an ATT gs3 and I run my Att gs3 as my main phone because tasks aokp jellybean ROM is hands down the best ROM built for either phone. The 9300 has many more roms than the i747. I bought the 9300 for the increased development and I learned the expensive way that quality beats quantity in the ROM department. Get the Att gs3 and root and flash tasks aokp and I guarantee you will be very happy.
I hope you got the phone today and I hope you enjoy it. Personally, I'm so satisfied with the stock rooted ROM that I've almost kicked my flashing addiction.
Almost.

You can look under the original development page for some good stable roms like SlimBean, PA, and Aokp. All function well enough to be a DD.

I agree with Jonny here... I too am running JB AOKP and everything works perfect. Task650 is always adding new commits and is constantly updating the ROM. Another point to consider... every phone is NOT created equal. The same ROM and kernel can run better/worse on one SGS3 to the next. You have to flash and try a ROM out to see how it runs for you because it won't be the same on another phone of the same model. Besides, what's stopping YOU from going through the development area and reading the threads like the rest of us have to do to learn what we need to? First suggestion.... don't be lazy and expect others to spoon feed you answers because you WILL receive backlash and grief. Do yourself a favor and SEARCH and READ anything and everything you feel is pertinent to your query. Spare yourself the frustration. This is just a word to the wise. No disrespect intended.

The GPS and Navigation is AMAZING on any Android phone.
Their Music app could use some work, however i do use the app PlayerPro
TouchWiz is pretty stable but i find gets slower with time and i think thats due to the fact that its running ICS. I would recommend flashing a custom ROM such as CM10 for JB which makes the OS run ALOT smoother.
The stock camera is also very good with alot of features.
Hopes this helps.

Many thanks to WildChild and the Team

Since I am new and unable to post in the developers section, I just wanted to say thanks specifically to WildChild and and the others who made the sweet ROM for the Galaxy S3. I currently am running v29 and it works awesome. Very little heat issues almost no flicker issues. Battery life is much better also. I am enjoying it thoroughly. I have tried many others (my rom count is @ 18) and I've only had my phone a month. This one by far is the best. I am new to the Android Development and your hard work and directions are superb! Thanks to everyone!!
