Hi all
I have had my Galaxy Nexus for near to 5 months now and it appears to have developed an unusual fault on the screen. I have been contemplating taking in in for repair/replacement for a while now after the screen has a single dead pixel, but a few days ago I noticed that I have what appears to be two blisters or bubbles in the screen just below the top surface. I don't have a screen protector so I'm not being dim.
I have cleaned the screen several times with the usual screen cleaning products as well as car polish and a tiny bit of T-Cut, all of which have made no difference at all. I am also certain that it is not a scratch or other mark as when the screen gets greasy you can clearly see the smudges across the mark which wouldn't happen if it was a scratch or the like.
I have attached a few photos of the mark, which I have circled to identify. Thanks for reading this I would like to know if anyone else has encountered this sort of issue before or whether this is a case of me being pedantic. My concern is that i don't want to send the phone in for repair/replacement for a few weeks to a month without me being certain that it will get fixed and the whole ordeal to be for nothing.
Again many thank in advance for your help and advice.
James

Well, I got my Nexus on thursday, but immediately I noticed a problem .
At the bottom, the glass is slightly tilted, on the right is raised above the frame, while on the left is recessed ...
these are some pictures I took
I talked to the shop and they told me that they will solve the problem (repositioning of the glass) ...
What I wanted to know is what happen when the phone is opened, because on my current Nexus One, after first service, i have tons of dust entering between the display and the glass, and obviously I don't want the same thing also on this phone
So, do you have some experience with samsung's assistance ?
thanks!
anyone ?
As long as it's purely cosmetic, I wouldn't risk (or waste the money) having some guy open the phone to even out the glass.
Mine is the exact same way at the top of the screen, and I only noticed mine a few weeks after having it just because I was looking very very closely at the screen.
However, the problem it's quite visible on my phone, the difference between the two corners is about 1 mm, and with the glass that protrudes from the frame is even more subject to scratching ...
I don't know what to do ...
there is no one who opened the phone ?
The what you call a "glass" is the whole screen, so there no any way you get dust particles under it, as there no "under" , maybe the glue that hold it not have not dry good, I remember SGS2 have some yellow tint, or maybe it was SGS1, anyway things like that do happen to some devices.
Are you sure?
I have always found that touchscreen ("glass") and the display are two separate things
I'd return it for a replacement, that's an obvious build defect cite that you fear it'll either get worse or become a leak source.
Also, I am relieved I don't have this issue although I'd expect that I'd notice it quickly as you
Hi, guys...
After spending fours years tinkering around with budget to mid-range Android devices, last month I decided to treat myself to a top-of-the range, flagship device... and four weeks ago I bought (off contract) the HTC One M8. And I am absolutely delighted it with it... it is truly an amazing piece of technology.
However, a few days ago, when cleaning the screen, I noticed a mark... which I just assumed was a finger mark or something. I wiped it away, and it was gone...
...or so I thought...
A day or so later, I notced that the mark had returned... in exactly the same place. It's in the very upper right hand corner of the screen, to the right of the front facing camera and to the left of the SD card tray.
The mark is in the shape of an elongated 'S'.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few things puzzle me about this mark or blemish...
** It can only be easily seen in specific lighting conditions, ie., when the light source is hitting the screen at an oblique angle...
** It's less noticeable in natural daylight, then in artificial light...
** It's totally invisible when that of part of the screen has just been cleaned.
In other words, in order to see this mark/blemish, I have to deliberately 'dirty-up' that part of the screen. Either by rubbing the screen with my thumb or finger to leave some sweaty residue, or by lightly breathing on the screen, the way one would on a pair of spectacles in order to clean them. Indeed, this was how the blemish came to my attention. I normally lightly breathe on the screen, and then wipe it with a soft microfiber cloth. I suspect that the presence of finger grease or breathed water vapour is altering the refractive index of the glass, such that reflected light is making this blemish or flaw visible. But that's just an educated guess... it's been 35 years since I studied optics for my physics 'O' level at school. Funny how some things stay with you though.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have appended three screenshots of this strange blemish or mark. It should be noted that getting these shots was extremely difficult, as the light source had to be angled obliquely to the screen of the M8 for the mark to become clearly visible to the camera I was using. I took over sixty shots, and these are the best three.
Ironically, and despite these difficulties, these three shots make the blemish look much worse than it actually is. In normal use, I've got to look really hard for the blemish to actually see it. If you didn't know it was there, you likely wouldn't see it... or you'd just dismiss it as a smudge of grease.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, what exactly could this mark or blemish be?
A manufacturing defect of some kind?; Some natural flaw in the Gorrilla Glass?
If this is indeed the case, then I can relax and live with it. The mark is borderline invisible anyway, and doesn't impact my normal use of the device in any way.
Unless it's the portender of something much more serious, such as...
A fracture inside the glass? - And this is what worries me.
It's not a crack (yet... and it may never be)), and when I run my finger nail over the area affected, I can not detect a crack. The glass feels consistently smooth. Whatever it is, it's 'inside' the glass itself.
However, if it is a fracture, then what are the chances of it propagating into a full blown crack at some point in the future?
Have any XDA members seen anything similar on other devices they've owned?
Should I pre-emptively initiate RMA proceedings with HTC before it does becomes a crack? Or am I worrying unnessarily? I know I can get a little OCD/obsessive about details like this, and I tend to loose perspective a little.
So... any thoughts, insights, recommendations or advice would be warmly welcomed.
Thanks in advance.
Rgrds,
Ged.
if it really bothers you, take it back to where you got it from and ask for a replacement.
i don't know exactly what it is, but it does appear to be a defect of some sort.
EDIT: Someone please move this post to troubleshooting, this is between my first posts on this forum, sorry.
Hello,
I have an issue with my T325, I have a white light bleed spot that is visible only on white or light pages between the two slim slots (in the middle of the screen but a bit to left). They are not dead pixels, many cheap phones have such a brighter spot.
I bought the tablet brand new 5 months ago, I have warranty for one and a half more years but it takes half a month or more until they see, repair and return the device if I send it in. (I haven't paid for premium service)
The spot appeared about 3 months ago but I told myself that I will not change my otherwise perfect screen for a brighter 0.3cm white spot even if it's a little annoying sometimes ( I had already exchanged two tablets until I got one without dead pixels or dirt inside the screen). I haven't dropped, pushed the screen on that point or did anything that could have damaged it.
However, at the beginning of this month i wiped my screen with a cloth that had something very hard on it and I didn't see and managed to get a deep 1 cm scratch (I can actually hook my nail in it) exactly in the middle of my screen and I didn't have a screen protector (who needs one on a tablet ? ). I am thinking on convincing somehow the service to change the screen because of the light bleeding. The two issues are unrelated, there is only one scratch on the screen clearly from a swiping motion.
Does anyone have an idea on whether the screen is defective or there is some strain in that point ?
Did anyone have a similar issue and managed to solve it ? Should I try sending it in ?
Anybody else had this?
Went to apply a screen protector today and when I wiped the screen with the alcohol wipe I could see clearly 2 small, and I mean small circles about halfway up the screen. Initially thought it was a couple of water marks or something sticky but it wasn't
Can't feel them on the surface and looking under the light they look almost like when you get a spec of dust under an applied screen protector. EE replacing tomorrow as it's within 14 days but can't see this as a common fault after having a quick Google.
Hope it's just a one off manufacturing fault but worth a check. So hard to see but if you steam the screen up with your breath you will see them.
Tried to show the circles in the attached, one breathed on, the other normal.
Looks like dust got in between the glass and screen when they were putting it together.
Couple months ago air got between the inner screen protector and the screen along the crease like we've all seen before by other Fold 3 owners.
When I opened the Fold today I noticed a few dead pixels right in the middle of the inner screen. Closing and opening it again apparently killed the whole screen along the crease. The left side is still working, right side is completely dead.
I think the screen suffered a lot when opening the Fold. The screen protector probably moved a little bit every time I opened it and created some kind of pressure to the screen because of the air underneath. At least that's my explanation for it.
So if you've got air beneath your screen protector, replace it before your Fold ends like mine..
When mine started to peel out, I've just taken it out completely. I've assumed it's safer that way, so e.g. sand does not get between the protector and the screen.
It's ca month I'm using it without protector and all works great so far (also there are videos on YT saying that screen presents better without it, but nonetheless I would not remove it unless it peels out)

I read that you loose warranty if you remove it, that's why I didnt do it. Now that I have to send it in I don't want to risk Samsung rejecting it because I peeled it off, you know.
There's also no official store close to where I live where I could have replaced the screen protector.
Taking mine in on Monday as I started to get an air gap at the bottom of the hinge... Hope it holds out until then
I got mine in mint condition from Swappa and it had the inner screen protector with no issues but after about a month of heavy use it started coming up at the bottom in the crease so I just removed it because it was getting hair and pocket lint under it and making the screen look bad. So far months later I've had zero issues.
Considering I got this second hand, I never expected a warranty anyway so if anything were to happen I plan on either trading it in for something else or paying for a repair at a local shop or do it myself (I own my computer repair business and I could probably figure it out)
