Anyone else order from MPD and still not got a connected SIM? I received the phone last Wednesday, they advised 48 hours, but still no connection. I can't phone them as it's under my husbands name, and he is away on business until Friday. Just wondered if anyone else is still in this position?
me too, i got mine on friday and also requested a number transfer from o2, still nothing yet.
Phoned them on friday and they said that it would take a few days.
MPD are useless, ive seen more trouble come from using them than any other company.
I personally have had a nightmare of a time pre-ordering the desire from them.
When we phoned them on Thursday, they said to give it 48 hours as they usually dont send the sims out with the phones, they take a couple of days to process according to him, then obviously it was the weekend.... Just spoke to them on web chat and they said there are problems with the Tmobile system they use, and if its not done in 24 hours to phone them.
So I'll be speaking to them tomorrow morning then
Dear me, suppose thats the price we pay for being cheapskates!!!

agreed might end up waiting next week for 3 to stock these unlocked @ £350.
have you had an update on this, still waiting here?
ive not had any update, and need to wait for nap-time at home to phone them (my 2.5 year old objects to me being on the phone when he isnt).
phone still isnt connected though
I got a Voda contract with them, my Desire came Wednesday morning, so today is day number 6 of not being connected. They said it will definitely be done by 12 today (which it won't be), so I'm gunna ring them then, and tell them I want a refund
just spoke to them, theyre doing the rest of them today she said, about 100 left to do.
eta: she said leave the sim out the phone, then around 7pm put it back in and it should work
If you're having problems with MPD not connecting you to T-Mobile, just do what I did and speak directly to T-Mobile...
I received my phone last Friday with the SIM included. I contacted MPD on Saturday about the connection since at this time I was still only able to make outgoing calls, and not text or use mobile Internet.
I was told the same as others on here regarding the demand problems had caused them to just get the phones out as fast as possible without pre-registering the SIMs...
By Sunday afternoon nothing had changed, so I just phoned 150 and spoke to T-Mobile directly. The first general customer services guy took a few details and then transferred me to the connections team, and they just asked me for the number again, my name/address (I had already been set up this far on the system it seemed - my DD details were all present already too). All I then had to do was confirm the tariff I was on and an hour later everything worked. All in it took about 10 minutes on the phone to sort.
I'd recommend those still not connected just do it yourself...worked for me.
i would do if the account was in my name, but its in my husbands name who just happens to be in singapore right now on business - brilliant timing!
Had to go on web chat this morning to get it connected, and it's now working as it should.
They also confirmed in-car chargers will be sent this week
Hi,
Just as rodhull said, i phone t-mobile up directly without even thinking about MPD, they took some details and hey presto its up and running.
If you are porting your number and make sure you tell your new network, T-mobile had no idea, i was porting my number even though i told MPD.
Oooooooooooooo the desire is fast, i love it already and owned for like 1day.
Goodluck all.
Silly question, but since this is more T-Mobile related, I thought I'd see what you guys thoughts.
When I got my phone, about 39 hours ago, I ported my old number from Verizon over.
Guy said it could take up to 24 hours. So far, it's not ported yet. How long does it normally take? Should I be calling, worried, or should I grab a cold one and relax until tomorrow?
(First time I've ported a number, after having been on VZW's Fascinate for 3 years..)
You mean switching from Verizon to tmobile ??
It shouldnt take more then 2 hour.

It could potentially take a few days, but that is worst case scenario. In most cases it will be done in hours. I ordered mine on launch with overnight shipping and it was ported hours before the phone was delivered. I would call just to make sure. You may have incorrectly put in a number.
call to make sure I ported from sprint and after almost 48 hours had passed I called them and the immediately and manually changed my number ... call em

I just did this (vzw to tmo). I made the port request in-store at tmo store. Guy said it could take 24-48 hrs. That is complete hog wash. Secondly, the port request I made in-store was never submitted. I got my S4 and my vzw S3 was still working. So I called tmo tech support and they had informed me that port request I made in-store was never submitted and that he could take care of it for me over the phone. I asked how long it takes and he said never more than 2 hours. Mine took place in about 30 minutes. As far as your ported number showing up in "about phone" and on on your myTmobile online account takes about a day. So happy I made the switch I feel FREE!!!!!
I think they just say 24-48hrs to cover themselves. I just ported a number as well and it was done within a few hours (not sure of the time scale, but I did it before I went to bed and it was complete when I woke up). It might be worth calling them or using the online chat just to check.
Just have them do it manually over phone

when i ported from ATT to tmobile a couple of weeks ago the port took less then 2 hours.
Porting number takes a day as long as YOU KNOW THE ACCOUNT NUMBER (AND PASSWORD/PIN) OF YOUR EXISTING PHONE.

9.9 times out of 10,
porting does NOT take a day.
Thanks guys -
I had double checked with a phone rep when I had to get my phone activated, and she said the information was entered in. I'm not sure if the store guy put the right info IN, however, so when I get home tonight, I'll call again.
@jbdan - Where did you get the PIN from? I may have given them the wrong one, now.
They say 24 hours but porting from one of the big guys (ATT, Sprint, Verizon, etc) to T-Mobile should only take a couple hours... 4-6 at most 99% of the time.
When I ported my numbers not only did the first 2 people that I talked to did not do it right and it didn't go through, but they were from Net10 with a T-Mobile SIM. That actually does take about 2 days since it is already a T-Mobile number, just subsidized out. So in that case it will take longer.
But this does not seem to be the case with you so definitely call. I had to port 2 numbers when I switched to T-Mobile and the person in the store in my area messed it up, then I called and the indian lady I talked to messed it up worse. Then I called and immediately asked for a supervisor, she did it correctly and then it took only about 40 hours after that. -_- In your case it should only be a couple hours after being correctly submitted though.

We have a verbal password for our vzw account....everyone does afaik. Ours is 4 numbers like 1234 for example. Whenever you would call in to vzw for customer support they would verify you and your account with this password.

Facepalm. I forgot about that. I never ever call them. I think it's 4 numbers standard. Mine is. Thanks.
If you specifically did not set up a PIN it should be the last 4 of your SSN. It was in my case and I was never asked to create a PIN on my POSTPAID account. I was on my PREpaid account since no SSN was taken there.
When I went from Sprint to TMO it took less 10 minutes. Also Tmo did everything on their side. I didn't have to deal with sprint regarding the port.

Wow, this is really eff'd up.
Called TMobile, they said that they submitted the port request, and got a confirmation that it was handled but the number wasn't released. They said I should call Verizon.
So I call Verizon. My number is part of a Family Plan, and I'm an account manager - not account owner. No matter what I dialed, I kept getting transferred to the automated "Port Center". Which would then tell me that this number is NOT ported to Verizon.
Even though, when you call it, my Verizon phone rings.
So, I was able to hit the right combination of buttons to get a live person. He said that there was something wrong, as "the compute won't download the port request status". I don't know exactly what that means, but he said that he couldn't read any information on my number, or the porting status. He said that I need to have TMobile try to re-port the number to get it out of its current state. (And, apparently, he let slip that none of my calls are counting towards the plan...) So I asked him what the PIN was, and he said he couldn't give it to me, and transfered me to Custom Service. The customer service lady was nice, said only the account owner can change the PIN, and so I hung up after giving her the owner's phone number.
This. Is. Fantastic. Amazing, my luck, getting my phone number stuck in limbo.
I ordered my phone by phone when it first was available...I was told my sprint phone wouldnt be shutoff untill I received the s4 from tmo....My sprint phone was shutoff by the evening of the initial order.....So basically I was without a phone until the s4 arrived a day later....Not a big deal, just surprised it was shut off so fast....Sorry some of you have had problems getting it done...
My port was done while I was still b in store... within less than 5 mins... not kidding

Brought phone in at 6ish, ported number. At 7 got a text saying number was ported. Around 7:30 got a call on my old phone during limbo time, like they said could happen. Around 11:30 my old phone went to disconnected and new phone started showing full connections.
I was going sprint to Tmobile.
I got this GS4 on Friday 5/17 and still the number has not ported over. I was on the tmobile $30 prepaid card plan on a Nexus 4 and still waiting to get it ported to my GS4 on a new TMobile post paid $50 plan. Got a reference number on Friday at the store for the porting of number. The number did not port on Saturday after 24 hours and called them and got a second reference number. It has been another 24 hours and still not ported and when I called they stated they will expedite and should be ported in 2-4 hours today 5/-9. I am almost at hour four and nothing. Going to movies and will call them when I get back if number not ported by then. If it does not port by noon tomorrow, the phone is going back. Any other suggestions appreciated.

Never mind, number ported today at 5:05am.
I'm trying to do the same thing...i don't get why it takes so long. I called 611 and the porting dept transferred me to the activation dept...the activation dept transferred me to the porting dept...then the porting dept told me to wait another 24-48 hours. I did an online chat and they don't even see the port request.

Thanks for nothing, I was just stating my experience getting the number ported to TMobile in case other people were getting the same delays. The phone is fine but, if they can't do a simple port in a reasonable time, I don't want to do business with them.
Ian B
Call support. They can port it near instantly, but going through a store or online it can take days.
I did this late at night and by the morning the number was ported. I would call customer support again and ask them to check the status.

your welcome for nothing :highfive:
So I decided to to return my S7 and stick with my S6. That's another discussion...
Originally I I used the BB method and upgraded my 2 lines to the S6 and S6 Edge on Oct 23 to beat the Nov 15 deadline before unlimited data price increase. Got the phones shipped to me. Immediately threw away the sim cards that came in them and installed my old sim card. It used to be new activations were tied to the sim card not IMEI. Well that's changed. Sometime after the 15, Verizon closed that loophole and started doing it via IMEI. Anyway, when I put the sim card back into my S6, it went through activation again and it flagged the imei and switched me to 2GB. I wasn't expecting it to activate again so it caught me off guard. Now I've loss unlimited, and I'm 7GB overage on my data plan. I've been fighting with them all day trying to get it changed back because it was fine before but now it switched. My receipt from BB clearly shows keep existing plan. It did not force me to switch due to upgrade. The last person I spoke with said she will try to get my udp re-instated but it had to go through some "off-line group". I'm waiting for a response. One this is for certain. If they don't get me switched back, eff you verizon, I'll be switching to ATT. There is no reason for me to stay with you if I don't have udp anymore. That's the only reason I stuck around.
One thing I'd like to add is I'm not an abuser of data. At most I use 15gb a month. Sometimes I use only 2 to 3GB. I just like the fact of not having to worry if I'm going to go over. That and the fact I refuse to pay more to get less!
I did the exact same thing. I have few theories as well but maybe you and I can figure out together to beat the system.
We have 2 lines as well and use about 18gb each more or less. Just streaming audio most of the day while at work.
But theory was my phone was shipped from a best buy store instead of a warehouse like normal.
I would keep on Verizon to make sure they give you it back, I have mine back but when I fought them on returning my UDP they didn't put the work order in like they said. So just call back every day or every other day.
I will try again to upgrade and activate the phone on my line that is not up for upgrade and then switch it back. But white trying this I am thinking about bypassing the whole phone activation part. Far as skipping the setup where you just can play around with phone and OS then pop the old sim in? Just a theory though.

I've been working with a single person over there and she is supposed to have me switched back to udp by Monday. I have it all in writing through email. Plus my receipt from the original S6 purchase from BB clearly states keep "existing plan". So, it's not a matter of trying to beat the system. It's a matter of a mistake on their side. It's sort of like when they advertise the price wrong in store, unless they put out a correction, they sell it to you at the price they originally listed. Anyway, come Monday, if it's not fixed, I'm switching. Nothing ties you to the carrier anymore since all of them pay your ETFs to switch. And the whole Verizon has the best network thing, that's debatable. I have my boys on T-mo and other family on ATT. I've been in instances where I had weak or no service but they had service. I'm not going to argue though that rural areas, Verizon by far kicks everyone's ass. But then again, it's pretty slow in rural areas and how often do I go into rural areas anymore.
I did the same thing to FOUR line. The one line was not delivered until after Nov 15 ad as soon as I activated the phone UDP was lost. I immediately returned the phone to BB and called Verizon and requested a inactive pricing requests (IPR). The particular phone line was 27GB over, LOL. After a few days UDP was back on the line, I was feeling better. I then was the first person to discover from the BB buying group to find that the 3 remaining lines had a PENDING UPGRADE. Not sure what to do and if I should keep the other 3 phones and hope for the best or take back and pay the extra $20 per month per line. Not wanting to loose UDP I returned the phones. It seems now that PU have been dropping off. But keeping those BB phones n your line it RISKY. Best bet is to sell them! 1 person claimed to have lost UDP after phone upgraded. Not happy paying the extra $20 but better than being stuck with $2GB in a 2year contract!

That's the thing. I did this on October 23rd. All was fine. That is until I got my S7. S7 was fine too. But I decided to go back to my S6. Once I put the sim card back in the S6, it reactivated again and flagged it and switched to 2GB. Anyway, I hope it all gets straightened. At least I have in writing that I won't be charged for the overages. We'll see. I've just had crappy luck with Verizon lately. Went through 2 months of back and forth with Verizon FiOS to get my bill straightened out because my connection was ll messed up.
Pretty sure the only way to ensure the account doesn't get borked is to activate the phone on someone elses plan. Dunno if you can ever use the phone on your plan due to IMEI.
I suggest upgrading to the phone you can get the most money for, sell it, and buy what you want.
If you do the Best buy method you can never put your SIM in the phone that was upgraded on your number. Thats why I ordered a IP6 for the wife under my number and she ordered a S7 edge under her number. She does not care of android and I don't like IOS so it works out great. I will never put my SIM in her phone and vice versa or it will revert to a 2gb plan. If you don't have the option to not use your sim in the phone you ordered then you should trade someone phone for phone or sell it and buy the one you want so you won't have an issue. Not saying it is a guarantee though but we have been fine so far.

Well I'm not entirely sure what you guys did, but I just updated my phone in store at costco by switching my upgrade over to another line on my plan (if you're solo you'll never get this to work). Buying/upgrading through that line. The person should completely activate the phone on the non udp line, then switch the device back to the non udp's actual phone and sim. Sim's no longer fry by doing this. Once the phone has beeen activated and switched back you can pop your old sim into the new device and everything should be golden. The costco lady didn't believe me but I'm flying high with my udp on my s7 edge

So if I transfer the upgrade to my line and and the activate it on her line I should be able to keep my unlimited on both lines?

If you only have the two lines that won't work. The upgraded line needs a new two year contract and UDP isn't available anymore so one of the lines would lose the data plan.

Whatever line you use the upgrade on HAS to renew their contract. So your wife's line cannot use the upgrade (unless paying via edge payments i.e. 800$ per phone, but don't quote me on that). You CAN use someone on another plan's upgrade and use their phone after they switch back phone's but then they'd lose their upgrade and be unable to use yours.

I actually want to renew my 2 year deal because I would rather pay $200 or cheaper then pay the full retail price. I have done this twice before on each of our lines and was able to keep unlimited data by renewing 2 year deals.
Now the only thing is using the upgrade since I have unlimited data and have not yet been charged the extra $20 fee for unlimited data on either line yet. So my plan is to use her upgrade and then use it on my line to activate it or atleast bypass the activation setup and see if my unlimited data stays in tact. If it stays in tact then I will try to put it back on her line to see if stays in tact.
OR
I use somebody else's upgrade which will be just fine cause it's like adding another phone to the line. But when I use my upgrade for the person that gave me their upgrade, now does by activating the phone screw my unlimited data up? That is the biggest question? So I'll I am doing is swapping upgrades. I person upgrades there line but gives the phone to me and I would upgrade my line and give the phone to them. But when I upgrade my line and they take the phone to there separate account, will it take my unlimited data away?
That's the big question. But I will find out when I upgrade her line and have a friend activate it on her line that is a separate account and see what happens.
Update: I tried upgrading from the costco service and after litterally 4.5 days waiting to get it shipped or some kind of info after they charged me, I finally got another email saying that I had to agree to have my current phone be disconnected in order for the phone to be shipped. So they wanted to activate it like in store before shipping it to me. So I declined and canceled the order.
I already had pre ordered the S7 through best buy originally, but not sure if this happened in the fine print I did not read. But my wife's line never was disconnected at all before the S7 showed up. My UDP was just kicked off when I tried activating it.
Update #2
I reordered the S7 from best buy and again it shipped from store, not sure if there is any activating on there side or not.
But I bypassed the the activation setup to where you can just use the phone as a wifi device. Then I put a friends sim in the phone from an entirely different account and was able to make calls and nothing happened to my account far as any changes, but when I went to put my wifes sim in the phone, it recognized the sim and # but could not make any calls without activating it on her line.
So I then factory reset the S7 and tried activating with my friends account from bootup and when the phone activated, my account had changed, but here is what happened, It dropped my wifes phone like there was no device on her line and changed my data to 2gb. I tried to put my wifes sim in and still would not take it without activating it on her line. So I put my wifes sim back in her old phone and had to call verizon to get it back up and running and everything went back to normal even got UDP back with no hassle, cause the S7 was never activated on her line. SO...
It technically is doable, but the theory of just upgrading and selling it for retail price will still screw you over because the person that activates it will screw your line up unless they bypass the activation screen and who would take that chance.
SO what you need to do is just bypass the activation screen to where it's just wifi device then pop another users sim and your line will not change, I would recommend doing this only on your account and just swap upgrades.

So my note 7 stopped working yesterday. Went to put the sim in my other phone and the sim was fried. They did not block the phone but they zapped my sim. Now I am without a phone until a new sim ships Tuesday. Isn't this illegal? It is not like they blocked the IMEI, but actually shut down an account in good standing

Now I am without a phone until a new sim ships Tuesday. Isn't this illegal? It is not like they blocked the IMEI, but actually shut down an account in good standing

Check your imei number in the phone.
Illegal? They been telling everyone to replace their phone for months.
Couldn't you just go to the store and pick up a new one?

IT IS ILLEGAL. Verizon is not allowed to do what they're doing.

They are not blocking the phone. I could not even switch phones. The completely blocked my account... In good standing. Really? At that point they are charging for service I cannot use no matter what phone I have.

Not without going into dpp
They zapped your line. The line that your phone was attached to. They did it to me. And they told me that the only way to get my calls text and data back for that line was to return the phone. I returned the phone and I got back everything except text. Can't send text or receive text. Now they can't figure out why. So now I have an s7 edge without text. But I pushed the rep into giving me 100 dollar bill credit. And they said would resolve my problem withing 48 hours. So far it's been 24 hours.
Just crazy. Not sure how they can do that....seems very illegal
They did something similar to my phone line as well. Turns out that they basically flipped the switch on my phone line as if I had not paid my cell phone bill. I was a loyal customer with them for 12 years. Never have I talked to so many customer service reps that treated me like I was a piece of dirt. I made them go through the headache of fixing my phone line, left the Verizon store and drove a block down the street to the Sprint store. Now I am paying half as much for unlimited everything. It will be a long time before I do business with Verizon after how I was treated with them.
I realize that I am just a number to them and my personal account was only worth $2500 a year. But what they failed to realize is that I manage a business account that is currently with AT&T and we are in our renewal year. I was looking at switching that account to Verizon, but not anymore. That account is worth around $65,000 a year. Oh well, it is their loss. But I do hope that a Verizon clown is reading this.

I hope Sprint has stepped up their game for your sake. I was with Sprint for over 12 years and even though they have the lowest price they also had the slowest speed and spotty reception that only worked 50% of the time in rural America. I will never go back regardless of the price.
I have a very interesting workaround which I discovered by accident -- after my Note 7 got "disabled" I put my sim into an iPhone 6 I already had and noticed it still wasn't working.. So I called Verizon and asked them to whitelist my sim again, and they did. Even though it still wasn't functioning in my iPhone, I popped the sim back in my Note 7 while I waited to get a new sim, and lo and behold, my N7 is fully functional once more!!
