Anyone else order from MPD and still not got a connected SIM? I received the phone last Wednesday, they advised 48 hours, but still no connection. I can't phone them as it's under my husbands name, and he is away on business until Friday. Just wondered if anyone else is still in this position?
me too, i got mine on friday and also requested a number transfer from o2, still nothing yet.
Phoned them on friday and they said that it would take a few days.
MPD are useless, ive seen more trouble come from using them than any other company.
I personally have had a nightmare of a time pre-ordering the desire from them.
When we phoned them on Thursday, they said to give it 48 hours as they usually dont send the sims out with the phones, they take a couple of days to process according to him, then obviously it was the weekend.... Just spoke to them on web chat and they said there are problems with the Tmobile system they use, and if its not done in 24 hours to phone them.
So I'll be speaking to them tomorrow morning then
Dear me, suppose thats the price we pay for being cheapskates!!!

agreed might end up waiting next week for 3 to stock these unlocked @ £350.
have you had an update on this, still waiting here?
ive not had any update, and need to wait for nap-time at home to phone them (my 2.5 year old objects to me being on the phone when he isnt).
phone still isnt connected though
I got a Voda contract with them, my Desire came Wednesday morning, so today is day number 6 of not being connected. They said it will definitely be done by 12 today (which it won't be), so I'm gunna ring them then, and tell them I want a refund
just spoke to them, theyre doing the rest of them today she said, about 100 left to do.
eta: she said leave the sim out the phone, then around 7pm put it back in and it should work
If you're having problems with MPD not connecting you to T-Mobile, just do what I did and speak directly to T-Mobile...
I received my phone last Friday with the SIM included. I contacted MPD on Saturday about the connection since at this time I was still only able to make outgoing calls, and not text or use mobile Internet.
I was told the same as others on here regarding the demand problems had caused them to just get the phones out as fast as possible without pre-registering the SIMs...
By Sunday afternoon nothing had changed, so I just phoned 150 and spoke to T-Mobile directly. The first general customer services guy took a few details and then transferred me to the connections team, and they just asked me for the number again, my name/address (I had already been set up this far on the system it seemed - my DD details were all present already too). All I then had to do was confirm the tariff I was on and an hour later everything worked. All in it took about 10 minutes on the phone to sort.
I'd recommend those still not connected just do it yourself...worked for me.
i would do if the account was in my name, but its in my husbands name who just happens to be in singapore right now on business - brilliant timing!
Had to go on web chat this morning to get it connected, and it's now working as it should.
They also confirmed in-car chargers will be sent this week
Hi,
Just as rodhull said, i phone t-mobile up directly without even thinking about MPD, they took some details and hey presto its up and running.
If you are porting your number and make sure you tell your new network, T-mobile had no idea, i was porting my number even though i told MPD.
Oooooooooooooo the desire is fast, i love it already and owned for like 1day.
Goodluck all.

So I ordered my TP2 over a week ago, promised 2-4 business days delivery (should have been here friday at latest). No sign.
Rang them monday (25 minutes on hold), hmm not sure you you havent got it, will DEFINATELY be delivered wednesday. You will get a delivery note in your email.
Today - No email, no phone. Another 25 minutes on hold - phone isn't in stock and they have NO idea when it will be, offering me NOTHING in the mean time other than to order a different handset. Couldnt care less if I cancelled the order.
Is this their typcial customer service, cause if it is sod it Im going somewhere else.
Where else can you buy it in the uk?!
I believe (and hope) you can get it from Phones4U on an orange contract.
Chris
Hmmm...
I got mine on Tuesday, ordered Thurday (IIRC). I had some problems with the PAC code not been used, Customer Support online and on the phone were both very helpful...
Just my experiences.
Dave
sorry to hear that, i covnerted from consumer to sole trader just to get mine... but their upgrade department couldnt offer me the same deal a new customer gets, everything was 5 pounds more expensive monthly and a 24 month contract instead for 18 and no free bluetooth headset...
anyway a guy in the new connections team put in contact with a team who could match their prices as an upgrade and not only that exchanged the crappy bluetooth headset i wouldnt of used for an 8gig memoery card (she would of done 16 for a fiver but none in stock)...
also i ordered the phone at 4.30pm and had it by 12 the next day withf ree delivery
so ive found them better than consumer vodafone, you also get two years warranty and next day replacement whilst yours is being fixed... need to add 3.50 a month for total care if you wanna cover accident damage and theft though.
No problems when I ordered about a month ago. Was here within 3-4 days.
Sorry to hear about your problems......
Ordered mine on Friday and received it the following Tuesday. Other than a couple of odd voice txts about it being delivered and then not, it arrived as planned.
I have found their business customer support to be very good - just my view.
Martin
I ordered a phone though vodafone business years ago and dealt with a guy called martin who managed to get me my tp2 the next day before 10am, PM me if you want his direct number, truly decent service
When I ordered mine they tried to deliver it to a different address !! in this case not Vodafone's (for once lol) fault, but the crap company who were dealing with the delivery.
Called them they were flippin' rude and even though it was 10 in the morning and I found out what happened like 25mins after they tried to deliver it. They refused to redeliver it the same day !! really frustrating had to wait another day (that is looong if you've been waiting for smt for ages !!)
Complained to Vodafone.. and got £ 10 added to my account which wasnt too bad I guess.
Only thing I regret is not trying to exchange that crappy headset for a memory card !!
True, vodafone are hopeless. Wasted a week speaking to them but finally told them to get lost. Got mine touch pro 2 on ebay + upgraded my old o2 tariff to get unlimited internet and 30 day contract. When I did all the maths the money is similar and I stay virtually contract free, no goddamn branded software and phone is unlocked.
I got nothing but good things to say about vodafone bussiness... i know they've had big stock issues though.
No probs
well ordered mine yesterday on business (didn't even knew that i could do that if i haven't got any business), delivered today 8 o'clock on the dot, got on 1200 min ,unlimited text, unlimited landline, 500 mb internet. £38.50 handset free.

After trying to get it through Tmobile and failing their credit check WTF?!? I reordered through Vodafone Business and got mine last monday as I was away for a week so didnt mind waiting for the stock to come in.
Oh well at least I have it now! And loving it!!
Lets Change things
Hi all,
I read alot of your complaints. Dont ask why but i think i might make a difference in ur Vodafone experience but i need your help. please feed me back on how your experience with vodafone could be better. email me on [email protected].
CS is a joke.
I actually got mine in the local Vodafone shop 21/9/09.
However, tried to use bluetooth 2 days ago, won't come on. Phone simply says it can't turn it on, ??? Also got GPS problems.
Phoned customer service, no help at all. Didn't even try to perhaps check anything on the phone. AS I got it in shop, have to take it back to the shop for exchange! OK, can I have the number for the shop so I can call and check stock ( I had it and lost it, doh!). "Sorry Sir, Vodafone stores don't have a telephone!" WTF? Blatant lies. Best we can do is send them an email? Refused point blank to get number, even though I pointed out I had it before.
Asked for a manager, apparently none available, still waiting for call back +24hrs later.
Thought I'd bail out then, 14 day cooling off and all that. Called disconnections or whatever they are, apparently I can't do that either? Once you've left the store that's your lot?
Called sales team later (they gave me the number in the first place), sorry, can't give you the number, but she called them and left a voice mail for them to call me back (Want to check stock before traipsing in there).
Absolute joke, all of it. Worst CS I've ever had. Who in their right mind has a shop without a number you can call? Ridiculous.
Phew, rant over.
Good Xperience
Sorry to here you guys experience with vodafone.
I have been with them for many years now and hav not had much problem.
They are always very helpful, both for customers and the business one.
I upgraded to business contract in order to get TP2. I ordered on Friday and it arrived as promised on Monday. The only thing though, I did not get any special gifts or offers when upgrading from customer to business. I guess its because there was already an offer when I took it. I get 750 mins, 250 txt, unlimited landline and unlimited internet for £30/month. First 3 months are free and handset free as well. I think it was a good deal
Got a call from some outbound customer team today. Smoothed everything over for me. Got me some phone numbers for future ref.
Also fixed my bluetooth! Something to do with TomTom and stacks.
We're happy again!
Another Voda UK happy customer here. Ordered at 4pm, got it next morning. Very good contract. Have called a couple of times with issues and they've been prompt and extremely helpful. Much better than Orange was, much better than T-Mob and MILES better than Three.
Just telling it as I find it.
Ordered Mon received Tuesday - I can honestly say Vodafone have been great so far!!
Vodafone were awesome for me. Arrived within 5 days (despite saying it was out of stock when i purchased). No handset problems and handset is unlocked to any network.
Had problems with insurance not going through but CS were awesome and sorted everything out sound.
even though i ordered mine last week -- there is no more t mobile stock, if you have not got the "winging email" you will NOT be getting your desire. they have run out.
they cannot even give a firm date for stock. estimate 7th april to them.
so even though the confirmation email that states 48 hours if you order before 5pm on a weekday is untrue. (i wish people would just tell the truth).
so sorry people but don't hold your breath.

I think it depends on whether you called them up as well, or not.
I put my order into the TMobile website on Friday morning (30th) at around 930am.
After reading on this forum about delays and no stock I then called them up Friday afternoon at approx 430pm - I was told that all the initial stock of 1400 (or 1600, I can't remember which) was gone, so I would not be receiving a phone the next day.
The sales agent then went on to tell me they were expecting another delivery of 500 that evening, and they would be sent to customers on Monday, to arrive Tuesday (1st). He then searched for my web-order and manually pushed it through to ensure I would get a phone from this 2nd batch. He then called back to confirm it would be sent out Monday and arrive between 8am-1pm Tues. I assume if I hadn't called then my order would've been dealt with chronologically along with all the other website orders.
I called again just now, querying why I had not had the "winging it's way to you" email, and was told that my order had been completed by their phone team, and they don't send those emails out. And my phone will definitely arrive tomorrow before 1pm
I feel a bit bad that I might have jumped the queue, but hey it's TMobile that decided to do that because I rang up chasing it, not me!
i have just called tmobile and placed an upgrade order with the loyalty team - they have them in stock for next day delivery and got a cracking deal as well!
I ordered mine Friday afternoon. It's just come now but i have to go back to work
Will leave it at home charging lol.
Just spoke to my business manger on Tmobile stock coming in on wednesday and mine is coming on thursday...happy days
I too have just ordered my Desire from T-Mobile!! Also said I should have it by Thursday, if not before...
For those that are interested, this was my second attempt at getting them to agree to matching the deals on mobilephonesdirect, so worth trying again if at first you do not succeed (thanks to whoever it was on these forums for suggesting I do that!).
For info (new customer) - 600min, 500 txt, £30/month 18 month contract, and they waived the £60 handset cost.
I am VERY excited!!!

thats a good deal! as an existing customer i got an offer of £22.50 per month on my existing flext 40 tariff and free phone - 18 month contract
I still don't understand how Tmobil is the sole shop to sell the Desire before 7th April in the whole world
Are HTC testing the Desire on a very limited market??

What numbers are people ringing to get through to living human beings?
I rang the help line (0845 412 5000) (also rang the sales line but I was neither an existing customer or someone looking to buy a new phone, I already ordered on the net so I hung up) and pressed the correct number for "in the process of ordering" and got told to put in my mobile number, which I don't have since my phone hasn't arrived!
It's my first time ordering from T-Mobile and they don't seem to have a "go straight to a live human being" option on their phone system, is my best bet just to ring sales and push the "new customer" button and then tell them my order is active already and I want some information?
Thanks for any responses

Cheers for that mate, hopefully that will include the exchange/returns stock
I just spoke to them on the sales number (i pressed * a couple of times and got put through eventually) and they said that they didn't know whether there would be another shipment on Wednesday although there should be one this week...
hmmm.. why are there never any straight answers.
I had the 'winging its way to you' email on Thursday.. nothing has arrived, so I called them today and was told it went out of stock after they sent the email - now he said they have no stock and that it's expected within 7 days.
No idea why the hell I got the email if it hadn't even left them though!
I'll have to wait and see if anything turns up!
carphone Warehouse
I've been waiting to pick one up instore from t mobile everyone is saying two weeks or they don't know. after searching i saw that is available on payasyou go on orange in carphone warehouse so i might pick one up tomorrow there phones are normally unlocked.
I ordered mine as an upgrade Friday afternoon and got it early Saturday morning.
It seems to me that everyone who has spoken to the actual sales team has had their order fast-tracked. So all of us who ordered online are getting put to the back of the queue. Just need to think of a way to make them want to fast-track you.

You know Layar has a layer for coffeeshops in A'dam? Quite handy.
well all I can say is I feel I was talking to an honest rep who assured me that there are none left and that they honestly do not know a firm date for future deliveries, this was after getting the usual runaround several reps
so if you get yours then great, but as I said I wouldnt hold my breath.
Anyone know the real reason? I've been told multiple things from the dozens of orange staff I've spoken to.
- Testing is taking longer than expected
- Shipping has been delayed
- They don't actually have any stock and won't for some time
and basically everything in between.... so.... anyone got the real truth?
Or anyone managed to get a desire in the past week or so from Orange and I've just been fobbed off with excuses?
I received mine on Monday after ordering on the previous Friday.
Had a reasonable deal too, no charge for Black Desire and Panther 30 package for £25.00.
Testing can't be an issue then can it so I would imagine it's a stock problem.
A friend of mine picked one up on Tuesday from a local Orange store (Hull). I got one from CPW on Orange but as that's generic stock I guess that doesn't realy count (would have preferred the black but getting it unbranded & unlocked was more important to me).
Testing is entirely plausible.
When Orange get a new batch of a handset in they are flashed with their Orange-branded software and thenput to test for a while. Usually takes about a week in my experience, but can take longer if they find problems with the batch.
I was told they are getting new stock in yesterday with needs testing and should be ready to order Monday around 11am.
Interesting... I ordered mine over a week ago and I keep getting told the same thing "we can't give you one, we're out of stock..."
Perhaps they're hoarding some or trying to send them out to higher paying monthly tariffs?
EDIT:
Just spoke to someone, unfortunately the responses I were given made me increasingly more annoyed as the conversation went on. Basically I have now been told they have had a delivery on Friday afternoon, they are to go through testing and if all goes well should be out Monday. But if that is not the case then who knows when they will be in. I was told exactly the same thing last week and guess what.. it didn't happen.
Nobody who was there could tell me why their stock was low, why testing was taking too long or why any of this bulls**t was happening, so all in all... very dissatisfied with the answers I've been given.
I was told the same last week too and then when i rang monday was told the delivery they had expected hadnt arrived, so who knows
same thing here too. waiting for one on an upgrade. they did come back in stock last saturday for a few hours but by the time the guy from orange called me they were sold out again. if they're really back on sale monday then that's great. i'd advise anyone waiting for one to sign up via email to be alerted when they're back in stock on the orange website as it seems that's the same stock they use over the phone. get your email sent to your phone then as soon as you get it call them up.

I'm signed up via e-mail and text message apparently but they are still not sending me anything. If they did come back in stock I was not informed as I was originally told. I was told the e-mail notification is slow compared to ringing direct, so my plan is now to ring twice a day to try and get my hands on the phone FINALLY. Even got the screen protectors for it, in the assumption that it wouldn't take over a week to actually get the order in place.

I got one about 3 weeks ago. So I don't see what 'testing' has to do with it. Sound like they're confused. I was told `middle of the month` at the start of feb, only to read of people getting theirs so I phoned again and this time was told there were a few in stock. It's one of the most popular phones ever, so it's going out of stock as soon as it turns up.

Yeah I've been told it's very popular but I'm more concerned that others are getting different answers, perhaps I should ring orange and direct them to this thread to see what they have to say regarding some people being shunned and others given what theyve asked for.

Sorry, I meant middle of april, not feb. I found it frustrating, not seeing the phone on their site (not even 'coming soon'), being told to wait/keep checking, then reading about people receiving theirs, then phoning and being told none are available, then being told some will be available in 2 or 3 weeks and finally being told some are in stock now. But I still put all that down to poor communication within Orange and/or the staff I spoke to not caring. The last person I spoke to - who put my deal together for me - DID care and did a great job. All I can say is keep phoning (retentions - say you want to leave Orange) and telling them people are getting theirs and you're fed up waiting and being told contradictory things.

This is actually what I said today when I spoke to someone, one guy put together a contract offer for me, 22.50 a month, 600 mins, unlimited text/data/email over 24 months with the phone for free, but said the phone should be coming in the next couple of days and I basically wasn't informed.
I've been with orange for 3 years now and I'm fine staying with them if only they would stop jerking me around. I'm gonna try and get the orange shop near me to match the contract offer I've been given over the phone but we'll see if I get anywhere, I doubt it'll happen but it's worth a go. If that doesn't work I'll ring up again and try and speak to the guy who put together my contract originally.
I read on another forum of someone being sent out a replacement for a faulty desire this weekend. So orange are either hording them for some reason or being selective on who they let have them.
They're probably hoarding them while they try and sort out the MASSIVE problem that these phones have with dropping 3G/HSDPA signal... I genuinely think that's what's happening. A lot of people with Desires on Orange UK are having issues... including myself
I rang orange once again, they said they cannot order me a phone today or tommorrow and their 'best guess' is that they will be in on Tuesday. I don't know how they're guessing since everyone I speak to still gives me a different answer.
Basically I got fed up with waiting and went into the shopping centre today and picked one up from carphone warehouse. £30pm, 500 mins, unlimited texts/data/email and all that jazz. Not as good a deal as I wanted but I got the handset and I didn't have to wait for up to 2 months as a couple of people I know have been.
I also went into the orange shop and asked them to match the price I was quoted, they could give me the same contract but the phone would cost £99.99... too much for me personally but might be worth a look for others.
I was also offered a contract in Phones4u from vodafone for £30pm, 300 mins and the same unlimited stuff. However I'd be a new customer and stuff so I'd lose any loyalty points I had with orange.
Every shop I went into said that orange had been telling them they had no stock, so I don't know what to say regarding "we'll have some in stock soon" or "theyre going through testing" other than I was clearly being lied to.
I'd advise anyone else looking to get one of these phones soon to go round the shops and try to get a good deal. Phones4u originally offered me £35 with 200 mins on vodafone as well as I'd have to pay £50 to get out of my contract for the next 2 months. I managed to beat them down to a far better deal but not as good a deal as what carphone warehouse gave me.
Good luck to all those trying to get one from orange! Let's hope that they actually get some in stock soon.
Well the orange website says i can now upgrade to a desire but when i ring upgrades they say none left ring back tomorrow
I managed to get one for an upgrade about 10 days ago.
I think the issue is stock and their messaging/notification system doesn't work. Anyone wanting one will need to keep chasing Orange to be first in line. They seem to have no back order system in place so its a bit of a free for all; not something they could tell customers.
Black HTC Desire now available through Orange upgrades, just ordered mine for delivery Wednesday.
Me too finally, couldn't be bothered waiting for upgrades to answer so did it through the website. Phone coming wednesday, dolphin 25 for £19 a month, that'll do me.
I've had to send my Desire back to HTC last Monday (11/10/10) as the external speaker has failed. They arranged UPS courier pick up and UPS supplied a tracking number which showed it was signed for by HTC on 12/10/10.
Also on 12/10, HTC sent me an email advising they'd received the phone and gave me a repair tracking reference. I logged in to the servioce on 12/10 and it did indeed show 'We have received your phone at HTC service center.'
This is fine, but we are now one week on since HTC reported receiving my phone and the status has not changed. I rang them today and just got fobbed off with "it takes 10 to 15 working days to turn around a repair". I'm not unduly worried, however, I don't see the point of a repair tracking service if it is never updated.
I just wondered what everyone else's experiences were of the HTC repair service and their repair tracking updates?
Cheers.

HTC Repair
I sent my phone in for repair about 4 weeks ago. I had a similar experience as you where it stayed in that status for about 2 weeks! I was phoning constantly in that time, being given expected repair dates, being promised things would be raised as a priority etc, but to no avail. I complained to the customer service team that the updating was poor. The lady agreed but could only promise to pass my comment on to the complaints department and they would contact me in 24 hours. They couldn't be contacted directly.
I had no intention of believing that based on my past experience over the 2 weeks. I rang the head office and asked for the complaints department. I spoke to a really helpful lady who managed to get my phone repaied and back to me in 5 days! This would not have happenned if she didn't help me.
Unfortunately, the repair was unsuccessful. I was reluctant to send it back, but I went via the route of the same person in the complaints department, who set it up as a priority case. I sent if off on a Friday and had it back the next Friday! Fault was fixed.
The best way to deal with them is to constantly ring them as the repair tracking service isn't updated often, whereas they can see other information on their systems. If that doesn't work, ring the complaints department.
Repair: UPDATE
Well, would you credit it, the day after I made my original post HTC updated the repair tracker to say my phone was being repaired. The next day, it was updated again to say phone repaired and being returned to me. That was last Friday and guess what? I still haven't got my phone, but and it is a BIIIIG but...
It's not HTC's fault. They did post it, and gave me a UPS Courier tracking number.
UPS reported the phone being sent from their depot in Tamworth, Staffs. On Monday just gone, it was then reported as being out for delivery to me that day....it never arrived. I rang UPS, they claimed they had tried to deliver it but my office was shut...BULLSH!T! I was ringing them from the office at 4.30pm that day! UPS then said they would reschedule delivery for Tuesday to which I agreed.
Then as I was leaving the office at 5pm, UPS rang me back to say I could call at their local depot (10 miles from me) at 6pm to collect the phone. I agreed and arrived at their office at 6.10pm only for them not to be able to find the phone, then tell me "We're really sorry, but it's still at our Tamworth depot. We'll get it to you tomorrow"
So Tuesday morning rolls round....I get a phone call from UPS at work asking was I planning to call and collect the phone from UPS today. I told them no because they had arranged to deliver it that day.
Then the bombshell. "I'm really sorry sir, we had a break in on one of our vans at the Tamworth depot. Your phone was on that van and has been stolen!"
Can't be helped I suppose, but it doesn't stop me thinking how unlucky can I get!!!
Still, at the end of the day, UPS have admitted it was stolen, so I should get a new replacement or a big fat cheque to buy a new one.
C'est la vie.
LOL - sorry, I shouldn't laugh, that's a horrendous story...
I was curious, did UPS pay out to you?

Thanks for the sympathy...lol!
You really don't want to know what a nightmare I've had with HTC since this happened. Suffice to say, it took 6 weeks to get a replacement (refurb) handset (wrapped in bubble wrap in a plastic envelope, my retail box which it was sent in was nowhere to be seen), which they sent WITHOUT a battery (which took another week to arrive...after shouting at them down the phone!!) and now this replacement handset it randomly freezing!!!
I hope you NEVER have to send your handset back to HTC....they have the worst customer service I've ever experienced...EVER!!! Still currently got an ongoing dispute with them. If I ever get a resolution and I have a spare 3 weeks, I might post the whole sorry saga for you all to have a laugh/cry/empathising pat on the back at....if it could go wrong, it did/has/probably still will!!
Let's just say I will NEVER buy HTC again!!!
And no, UPS didn't pay out to me, because the phone was sent BACK to me by HTC, so HTC had to make the claim. So, while they will probably get the full cost of the lost phone, I'm left with a refurb. HTC won't entertain a claim from me as UPS lost the phone and UPS won't entertain a claim from me because HTC were the sender and had to make the claim! I'm stuck between rock and a hard place...but I'm still fighting!!!
My story
Hey! I have a similar story to share! N.B. None of our phones are rooted and only her's was SIM unlocked via a code we purchased.
So since December 2011, my girlfriend (Phone B) and I (Phone A) have both been using HTC Desire Z sold by Bell Canada. I am a Bell user and she is a Rogers user. Mine was bought under my contract and her's was bought by someone else who got a contract to get the phone but sold the phone brand new and gave me the bill.
So we had been using our phones without any problems until I started experiencing issues in July 2011. The screen was not responding and I had to send it (A) for repairs. It was returned and was used without any issue until the next problem popped up (keep reading).
In December 2011, I decided to send my girlfriend's phone (B) since she had been complaining that her earpiece was crackling. So in December, I sent the phone.
I leant her my phone for the time her's was under repair. One night, my phone froze when she loaded a PDF. It restarted fine but the next morning, it was stuck at the HTC screen (A).
I called Bell. In Canada, it turns out carriers are responsible for handling the warranty so they consider that if you are not a customer under the carrier, you can't avail yourself of the manufacturer's warranty. This makes absolutely no sense as the standard product warranty from a manufacturer is 1 year.
I called HTC and fought for an hour until they sent me to a repair unit. With them, they told me that the phone was still under warranty and gave me a work order to send to the subcontractor responsible for repairs.
I sent phone A for repairs. In the meantime, phone B was returned. We sent phone B for repairs unlocked and they returned it locked (new IMEI). I paid to get it unlocked and my girlfriend started using it. She told me that it reboots every 2 minutes. I took a video of it and it is pretty ridiculous. With a Rogers SIM, it reboots every 2 minutes, without a SIM, it reboots every 15 or so. I'm now going to have to send phone B for repairs again and cross my fingers that it doesn't fail again.
Now the pièce de résistance is coming up. I just received a call from the repair company and they are asking 200$ to fix phone A. They consider that a phone under warranty with a work order and sent because of random software failure needs 200$? What is this?
Posted my story on the HTC Canada facebook page and guess what? INSTANT DELETE! Because of this, I started my own Facebook page. We are customers, I bought not 1 but 2 phones from them and look at what they do!
So here it is, the facebook page where all of you should post your stories:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/HTC-Cell-Phone-Issues/302964459751052?sk=wall
If it gathers wind, we might finally get some real help from HTC. I was a BIG fan of them. Until they fix this mess, NEVER again will I buy or advise anyone to buy their products!
Thank you and sorry for the long mail.
Show some support, this might happen to you!
I will be starting a thread to elicit people to share their own stories and hopefully all post on the Facebook page. Can you guys copy-paste your stories? It would help gather some momentum.
My z551ml is having screen issues. One sees it on boot up, so it is most probably something with the framebuffer hardware.
I've initiated an RMA with Advanced Replacement (where they pre ship a replacement phone for US$25 + credit card hold until the old phone arrives). This is only offered on the z551ml, evidently.
Anyone have any experience with this?
So far I've tried opening a ticket online. This seems to be a lose, as they give themselves 48 hours to respond. So I phoned up the support number (which suspiciously doesn't have 'mobile' or 'cell phone' listed on their web page). The guy I worked with ran me through the process, hard reset, etc and issued me with an RMA number and provided the "Advanced Replacement" form.
Here's my timeline:
18 Sept - Opened up online ticket, told to expect response in 48 hours
18 Sept - Opened up phone ticket, gave me a RMA number, and line to online form to fill out for "Advanced Replacement", filled it out.
Received receipt saying they charged my CC for $25, and put a hold of $224 on it.
20 Sept - Late in the day. Got a email from the online ticket, saying I need to open up an RMA.
21 Sept - not seeing a charge on my CC. Phone up support. They say fill out another "Advanced Replacement" form. I do.
now seeing a $224 hold on my CC.
22 Sept - Online case not being updated. Phone up support again. They say they are not seeing my CC. I tell them I'm seeing the hold.
They say it will take them 24 hours to sort it out and that IF it is sorted out, it will be 5 business days for me to see a working phone (so like the 28th of September).
23 Sept - Found a email from ASUS replacement department in my spam folder asking about the part number on the Advanced Replacement form.
I respond with their info.
24 Sept - Get an email from ASUS Replacement department saying they are processing my form + Tracking number for next day FedEX.
25 Sept - Replacement phone arrives at FedEX.
28 Sept - I get replacement phone (a refurb).
So it took a grand total of 9 days to get my phone replaced using the expedited 'Advanced Replacement' process.
I just went through this on mine. My issue is due to a signal problem on SIM 2 in my house and I just got the replacement unit.Did the $25 deal. Just so you know, you get a refurbished unit in exchange which annoys me as we did buy new and aren't asking to have problems. We paid for brand new in the first place not refurbished so I feel I should get some refund back. It took about ten days overall because yes they take like 48 hrs to reply in between but one thing I liked is that you don't have to wait to send the old before they ship the replacement. In my case I used my Note 3 anyway but they shipped the replacement as soon as they generated the shipping instructions to me for the return of mine.
The other thing is in my case I'm not sure if this is a phone issue or carrier issue but it's an issue with my house and signal reception for phone calls on the two lines not being equal and calls dropping and not being sustainable on SIM 2. Unfortunately, already SIM 2 disappeared three times today for a brief period rendering no cellular connection which clearly would have dropped any active calls I was on. Not looking encouraging. But it does come back quicker than before so it's improved but still the same problem. In any event, I did have have a successful RMA though I may need a refund altogether at this rate. I hope not.

Thanks for the reply. How old was your phone? I bought mine in July and isn't returnable through Amazon, unless I make a special case for it.
I'm getting miffed that this is probably going to take 2 weeks. The length of time it is taking for me to get a working replacement is bothersome. I've had a google nexus phones and tablets and google always cross shipped quickly for free, minimizing the time I had without a working phone, to like three business days.
I'm disheartened.
ASUS seems to think that the ZF is a phone for people that don't actually need their phone.
My phone was newer than yours. Bought it 8/9/15 through Amazon. So actually if I do need to ultimately return it, I wonder if I am in the same bind as you, that it's not returnable through Amazon because it's already past that timeframe. Well, I am going to AT&T on one last attempt today to get another SIM 2 card again although I already did that before. But now I have discovered that my house is NOT the only place that I have reception problems on. It's my general area too. I'm on vacation this week, so at least now is a good time for me to be testing this all out to really tell, and yesterday while about 3 miles from my house but within my township, I tested a call on my second line, and the call dropped. My primary line, SIM 1 was no problem and never is. I also tried several times in the morning before I left my house to even make calls from my second line and could not get a cellular connection, and this is a part-time business line, so obviously I cannot keep this phone and it has to go back. I emailed ASUS and sent a screen shot showing them the second SIM slot blanked out. I get error messaged all the time that it can't find a cellular connection. But then like when I'm in most any other place but my house or near my house-it's okay. However, now I did experience that it's also other spots in my area, and I live in the suburbs of a major city, , where coverage is never a problemso that's a real issue. It's obviously the device as a whole and the second SIM slot is 2G data only-you'd think that shouldn't matter for phone calls only, but why is that the slot not working for me reliably then? Meantime-I haven't heard back yet from ASUS as they are in their 48 hour repsonse window, which yes, is annoying. Because I have another phone I can pop my SIM into if I need to for my business line, I at least can receive my business calls so that they don't drop, not everyone has that opportunity while they are waiting things out. 48 hours is a lousy response time. Later today I'm still going to get another SIM card, but I basically at this point am pretty certain I am going to have to to return the ZF2 to Asus. They can't diagnose why it won't work. I might ask AT&T but then again, this is already taking hours of my life for something that should just plain work.

Update. Got a new SIM card. It doesn't help the issue. I just got home and tried to make a call and it dropped. It also wouldn't let me check my voicemail. AT&T rep today told me it must be the 2G slot and the towers near my house must be very upgraded and not getting much 2G and that this yes, would affect phone calls too. This really ticks me off though because then why should ASUS sell a phone where the other slot is potentially not going to work for US based customers who have 3G and higher networks? This is a waste of my time. Now I have to go through ASUS and explain that they have no right selling a phone that I can't get calls to my 2G slot on. I just started picking up business too. But I was getting calls in other places during my return time window with Amazon and not on calls at home yet but it started to pick up in late summer. and I am losing money I bet. .Even if it lets me call, the calls drop.I.have had no coverage in SIM 2 for almost 45 minutes now. That is just outrageous. Uhm-- Not usable at, totally worthless. Seems I live in a very upgraded area. Too good for this phone's second slot. And NO response from ASUS yet. Well the phone is history and going back and they better give me my money back.I have documented trips to AT&T and chat sessions too. I'm so glad I got the SIM 1 card re provisioned back to the Note 3 and kept it that way when I needed to use the Note 3 while waiting and wanted LTE back. Bummer.I really wanted to keep this. I like the phone otherwise. I really do. I'm disappointed.

The ultimate update: Amazon came through for me. ASUS of course wasn't going to refund my money back to me. I was out of my return window with Amazon but I had no way of knowing I was going to have phone call reception problems a month later since I wasn't having them earlier in other locations. But I emailed Amazon today and explained all my efforts and they agreed my situation was extenuating and they granted me an exception and they allowed me to return my Zenfone. It went back today and I was already issued a full refund back to my card. I shipped it off promptly too. The thing is history. It got worst as time went by on that SIM 2, and all because my area obviously is upgraded, so clearly that is a bad move on ASUS' part to have made it a 2G slot. I just am so thankful that Amazon made an exception. See-at first I got calls okay because my full-time job location is a good 30 miles west of where I live so not as upgraded, so of course coverage is different, and calls to my part-time business were coming to me during the day, not later in the evening like when I'm home, so of course, how would I know that my home was a problem area until the one time I got a call and it didn't work, and now that things are picking up and I DO need to speak to people in the evening, it IS now relevant. But during the return timeframe window, I would not have yet detected that. Amazon thankfully recognized the validity of all of this and my two trips to the store to get a new SIM card and all my on line chats with AT&T tech support and so as well as getting a whole replacement phone to try to resolve this issue that obviously is unresolvable. In fact, my issue got even worse with the replacement phone and new SIM card. So the phone is gone and I'm back to two phones and I'm looking at getting that dual SIM Blu Pure XL although I admit I am now gun shy after the Zenfone2 experience. Of course I now know to be vigilant and return immediately so I might risk the Pure XL after all although it will require another trip to AT&T to get another micro SIM since I now have to get a nano SIM for my Windows phone for my second line and then if I get the Pure XL, get the second SIM back to micro. This stuff never ends!

Buying it from Amazon does help.
Yes it is a good thing indeed! And I opted to not change SIM cards around. I'm using a cheap Alcatel One Touch-the original phone I got as the second line until I decided to have two high end ones. So at least no more trips to AT&T hopefully. Problem is that the Pure XL is now delayed so I am two phoned a while longer. I do like My Note 3. It's a good phone so at least it's getting more use in the meantime.

For once no. Sorry I couldn't answer that for you.
Very bad experience going through Advanced Replacement of Zenfone 2
I did a mistake of buying Zenfone 2 for CAD 400+ including taxes. It used to become extremely hot but I ignored it. Then after 10 months of use the screen started to flicker and started having vertical stripes. I tried to use Asus Advanced Replacement program. The agent sent me information asking me to provide my credit card information to put a hold on my card. I did and they put a USD 400 hold. A day later I received an email that I should resubmit my card information as the agent was not properly trained and provided wrong information.
I contacted customer service to avoid having double hold on my card, the agent told me NOT to resubmit the credit card information and ASUS will fix it on their end. For several days nothing happened with several calls to ASUS. At the end of the week, one agent investigated to resubmit my information. I did and it did work but guess what?
They sent me a replacement phone which has exactly the same issue of screen flickering with vertical stripes out of the box. Really bad quality control by Asus Canada (they shipped the unit from their Markham office). Any way I sent my original phone back to remove hold on my card and contacted Asus again for issues in the replacement unit.
Asus this time asked me to offer cross shipment that is I send the phone by Fedex (paid by Asus) and call customer support to provide the tracking number. Asus would send another phone before receiving the phone I sent. I did call them and provided the tracking information and Asus agent was able to verify it on Fedex website
As of today, Fedex website shows that Asus have already received the unit. However they have not shipped the replacement from their side (breaking their contract). I contacted several times to Asus and each person told me a different story. The last agent told me that they will ship the unit within 48 hours and she has not seen in my case anything about the tracking information. Does this means that previous agents did nothing? And why 48 hours after receiving the unit, it was supposed to be cross shipment.
Over all
Very bad customer service and untrained agents at Asus based on this experience
Very BAD quality control as the first replacement unit was faulty out of the box.
The original unit did not worth CAD 400+ at all
