@Outlook.com email - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I just snatched a outlook email, and I was trying to sync it to the native email client and for reason it doesn't work. Has anyone else had this problem?

Oh yes, I spent over an hour online trying to make that work, and even called up my school's tech support desk. No luck.
I tried on the droid email app, another one I can't remember, and k-9. I couldn't make it work. I eventually synced it to my gmail, tagged all the mail coming in TO that address into it's own folder with a filter to bypass inbox, they have settings and whatnot for all that, you'll also be able to send email as that email address without logging into outlook. I haven't tried that last part on the native, I've just been using k9. It's like I have two separate email addresses in one app,

I have a hot mail alias still in outlook dunno if it matters but I used under domain \[email protected] and for server m.hotmail.com which the email app changed to snt-m.hot mail.com.
Also this is configured as exchange.
Anyhow its working.

ok, here is the solution.....
Add email account
First type in your new renamed email address : emailaddress @outlook . com and password : your password.
Hit next and select POP.
Now follow the settings below.
Incoming settings:
username: emailaddress @ outlook . com
password: your password
pop3 server: pop3.live.com
port: 995
security type: SSL/TLS
Delete email from server: never
Outgoing Settings:
SMTP Server: smtp.live.com
Port: 587
Security Type: STARTTLS
Require Sign-in: YES
Username: same as username above
Password: same as above
VOILA !!!!
hit "thanks" if it works.., its free

Ok, I'm sure the best advice is to not use yahoo mail at all, but after upgrading to cm6 from stock rooted rom, I can't for the life of me get my yahoo mail account to work with the aosp email app. Has anyone else figured out how to do this? Of course, accessing yahoo mail on the browser is always an option, but I like the automatic notifications. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i had this problem too. it work initially and now the email app will tells me i have and invalid username and password.
i eventually downloaded the yahoo mail app from the market but i would much prefer to use the stock. ultimately i think to use the stock app, we"ll have to subscribe to yahoo plus.
anyone fix this yet?
Do manual set up and try these settings:
Incoming
Imap server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Security type: ssl
Server port: 993
Outgoing
Smtp server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Security: ssl
Server port: 465
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Also, i recommend using maildroid

I'm using the same rom and need to setup my school email address. CM6 only give me option of setting up Microsoft Exchange or Google. I need the option to setup OTHER so I can manually input the settings. I'm guessing it's missing in this ROM but is there an app I can download to setup my school email (i have the manual settings)?

[Q] yahoo mail problem [SOLVED]

Hi,
I am trying to add my yahoo account at "mail" on evo.
After entering username and password it says : "Authentication failed. Please verity your usermane/password"
I am entering correct data, tried 100 times but no luck.
I can add my gmail and hotmail accounts but not yahoo.
I found an unsolved threat with same problem:

There's an app for that.
Doesn't help much with the mail apk, but it reads yahoo mail.
Just download the official yahoo mail app or k9 mail tool <- lets you view multiple accounts.

I had the same problem about a month ago and did this when setting up my yahoo account:
YAHOO IMAP
Incoming IMAP Mail ServerSetting :
User Name : [email protected]
Password : your email password
Incoming Mail Server : imap.n.mail.yahoo.com
Mail Box Name : Yahoo IMAP
Mail Box Type : IMAP
Security (Port) : Off
Port : Default
That should get you back up and running. This way you dont have to download an app, this will just work with stock mail. This will work cause I just did this this morning cause my yahoo wasnt working. Hope this helps.
I've had the same problem and I used the info from the post above but I had to change the incoming server settings for some reason.. I had to use android.imap.mail.yahoo.com... and I've also gotten it to work when I was on a different ROM by using imap.mobile.mail.yahoo.com.. So just try a few variations if the specific settings above dont work...

I did'nt want to download app from the market, stock app is perfect for me, still wondering why automatic setup did'nt work for yahoo.
Oh yeah, didn't work for me either, had to use yahoo mail app. I think it drains my battery though.

I used File Manager (free version) to put the attached Email.apk in system/app directory. In the settings of file manager, make sure root check box is checked. then copy and paste the apk file. then restart the phone.
I am using darky's 9.3 final version ROM.
Hope this will help you guys those who still looking around to setup your free email clients in your galaxy s.
In my case the bottom part of mails from gmail were never displayed hence I'd to switch to K9
AFAIK: This already exists.
Thank you!
I was trying for a log time to use yahoo mail, but i was to lazy to solve it myself!
Thanks again.
Works perfect on Darky 9.3. Thanks alot
So,what about Gmail account?May I delete it?And use only my POP3.Somebody tried this in DocRom XWJS7 so far?
You don't need to do manual setup for Gmail. It should work. If you are having problem, then you use following settings:
Select as IMAP account
Incoming server: imap.gmail.com
Port: 993
Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
Port:465

Can't set up Gmail through exchange

I'm new to the world of pure Android. My previous devices have been HTC sense devices.
Normally I set my Gmail accounts through exchange/active sync because I also have multiple exchange accounts and prefer using a combined inbox. On my evo, all I had to do was enter my address and password and that was it .That doesn't work with this phone. I've tried multiple settings with no luck.
Has anyone had success with this?

Try This
Domain\Username:
\<your_username> do not include @....
Password:
<password>
Server:
<Fully Qualified Domain Name for Exchange Server> (ex. exchange.mydomain.com)
Check the box for Use secure connection (SSL)
Try not to check "Accept all SSL certificates" if that doesn't work then try it with it checked.
NOTE: If you Exchange Server is using a self-signed certificate then you may need to request that your IT gets a trusted CA certificate.
Exchange-Server for GMail is: m.google.com
Username and Password are your webmail credentials.
Use SSL.
Have either of you had success with those settings? I've tried those a dozen times, each time it says cannot open connection to server.

Please Clarify
Do you have a company exchange email that you pull your gmail accounts into? Can you clarify further? How do you normally get your exchange email? Through outlook client or outlook web access? Provide as much info without displaying server names/ private info please. Yes I used those setting exactly as I describe and may GNex connects to my company email just fine.
I have 6 email accounts, two are through Microsoft outlook. I can access those fine through the stock email app. My 4 other email accounts are with Gmail. I prefer to set those up through the stock email app instead of the Gmail app because I like the combined view feature. To be clear, I can set up those Gmail accounts to only poll the accounts. I'm looking to use Gmail through exchange for the push feature. This worked fine on my HTC devices. Not so much on this device.

Just tested these settings and they worked:
Added new Account.
Accounttype: Microsoft Exchange
First Step:
[email protected]
mypassword
NEXT
Second Step:
Domain-/Username:
\myemail (without @gmail.com)
mypassword
Server: m.google.com
Use SSL: ON
Accept all SSL Certificates: OFF
NEXT
DONE.
Worked like a charm.
BTW: If you just need the combined inbox, it is already there.
You don't have to use the GMail app.
Just open the E-Mail app, and tap on the top, on your exchange account.
You then can choose between all your e-mail accounts, even the gmail, or choose "combined view".
Still not working. I've uploaded pics of my setup and the error I get.

Yeah. The server would be: "m.google.com"
Think you misread that part
Oops, thanks for pointing that out. I got it now. This is an example of inattentional blindness. I'm an ass.

Hi, I tried it several times, even restarted my SIII, but no luck. Any other alternative? Cheers
Same problem on Galaxy Nexus JB 4.1.1
Any Tips?
Can't find Certificate
I'm just setting up the Eclipse ROM, everything EXCEPT the Contacts are syncing properly.
When I attempt to add a contact, and NOT store it locally, it tells me I must set up the exchange, which explains why it's not syncing them in the first place.
I followed all the previous suggestions to the letter......mainly: SERVER: m.gmail.com
Upon hitting "Next", where others are reporting success, it is telling me:
Can't connect to server? When I did get a server connection (?)....It told me that there was no certificate found on the SD.
I realize the Noob aspects of the question, and apologize....I do normally have a pretty good sense on the Android system, but don't have any background w/ exchange services...SO I appreciate any input.
THANKS AGAIN.....Spyder
I've just figured it out to setup gmail as exhange email. Put "ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM" without quote at domain
First Step:
[email protected]
mypassword
NEXT
Second Step:
Domain-/Username:
ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM\myemail (with @gmail.com)
mypassword
Server: m.google.com
Use SSL: ON
Accept all SSL Certificates: OFF

How to setup HTC Mail app?

Guys, a little help needed here, I cannot seem to setup my yahoo mail in HTC mail app. I always have this "cannot connect to mail server" error
protocol: pop, apop or imap? - tried all
security type: none, ssl, tls? - tried all
pop server: yahoo.com.sg - also tried yahoo.com only
It was easy and simple on my Sony Ericsson Arc Mail app last time, i don't have to go through those setup above. With htc, i don't know since it's my first phone from them.
TIA
Incoming settings
Protocol = POP
Username = your full yahoo email address
PW: Your password
POP Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
Security Type = None
Outgoing settings
Username = same as above
PW = same
SMTP server = smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Security type = None
Server port = 587
However in order to get POP access to your Yahoo email in the HTC Mail app on your phone, you must either be paying for their premium service or you have to agree to receive newsletters from Yahoo `partners` to get it for free. It's a bit cheeky imo when others offer it as standard for free.
