This thread contains the stock ROGERS firmware that comes with the GT-P1000R.
Andrew_Low has provided a copy of his stock FROYO backup, which I tested on my tab and confirm that it is working. The kernel is rooted, other than that it is a clean ROGERS rom. For further details on this refer to post 2.
He was also able to capture the GINGERBREAD update (which I have not tested as of yet, any testers please post your results).
This is the stock update available from KIES. For further details on this refer to post 2.
Many thanks to him for this, if it helps you, hit his thank you button. If you find this thread helpful as well, hit my thank you button.
Instructions on flashing are not provided. If you need these files it means you know how to flash your device, have flashed a custom ROM previously, and require this to return to a stock state.
As usual FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK, don't blame ANYONE here for ANYTHING.
PLEASE NOTE: The FROYO stock ROM is currently unavailable, will be back up soon.
Downloads can be found here
Further more, I would like to thank kpetrie77 for setting up a wiki on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the wiki is full of great links for all things Galaxy Tab. You can find it here, and if you have anything to contribute please do so as it helps everyone here at XDA.
Thanks to theREDlegion for putting this together. Happy to try to help others both on P1000 series.
The FROYO version was rooted with SuperOneClick 2.2 - if you use this utility and unroot it will remove the superuser.apk and after a reboot, adb won't connect as root. Before you do that reboot, you'll want to remove the busybox binaries /system/xbin to reach as 'near a stock state as possible'.
The GINGERBREAD version was snagged from Kies during the update process. It seems the Check Fus Donwloader doesn't know about Rogers (but it knows about Bell?!).
Real life gets in the way for hacking, but I'm motivated to make the Tab (mine included) as useful as possible beyond stock.
Thank you. This will come in handy.

Was hoping you could answer this question. I am currently running stock froyo on my Rogers Tab. If i update to Gingerbread is there any negatives with me wanting to upgrade in the future to other builds. Does it lock the bootloader? or is the bootloader already locked?
Thanks.

Sorry to respond almost a month later but I have not been checking my PM's regularly for the past little bit with so many other things on the go. It is better to post these kinds of questions in the thread itself, as this would help other members with similar questions. That is why I created the thread, and this is a good question to ask and answer in the thread. It is a REALLY GOOD QUESTION, that I'm sure others would be interested in and therefore I will post it in the thread. If you would like me to remove your username please contact me.
The Samsung Gingerbread release is not locked, it is signed. You CAN flash custom kernels and ROMs, DO NOT use the PATCH tool that Chainfire has provided, if that is why you ask, see that thread. That patch is an amazing tool provided by Chainfire, there is nothing wrong with the patch it just does not apply to us. If you use it, the tool will ask you to patch, DO NOT PATCH. You will screw things up with it and have to re-flash, re-stock and re-do everything just to fix it.
If you are uncertain if you should flash anything, than DON'T FLASH ANYTHING. Read, read than read some more before continuing any further.
These stock ROM's are not SamFirmware downloads, they are STOCK Rogers firmware from the device and from the update from KIES.

I haven't had the opportunity to restore a tab yet. One of these days someone will lend me one for testing and I will try test these files.
Looking at the files, these will need to be restored via heimdall correct?
Also looking for the Bell Froyo rom. Any suggestions?

Heimdall is correct.
Have not come across a stock BELL Froyo ROM (haven't even looked really). Will see what I come across and post back.
How to flash P1000R to stock Gingerbread
I wrote up how to take the Gingerbread firmware in the OP and flash it to your device.
http://lowtek.ca/roo/2012/restore-rogers-galaxy-p1000r-to-stock/
It's short and sweet. Ubuntu (Linux) as my desktop, heimdall as the flashing tool. Key is really mapping the files in the firmware to the heimdall partition names and getting through the boot sequence (flash, recovery and allow update, reboot).
Rogers CWM flashable modem UXJJ6
Following instructions found here http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...t/540640-make-my-own-cwm-flashable-modem.html I created a CWM flashable modem of the Froyo Rogers ROM.
Why? Well, this modem didn't appear to be available in this form - so here it is as an attachment.
I saw on other threads where some owners like myself just got our phones on 7/1 and the latest update was added by sprint employees.
1. I followed the instructions here
and that didn't work even though odin showed it PASS i'm still seeing sprint recovery, not CWM. I downloaded the latest Odin 3.0.7.
2. I followed this here when I click on vol down/home/power it still brings me into the sprint recover, I point it to the Teamepic root from recover v4. and it failed with E: signature verification failed.
3. I found this here but I don't see anyone responded that tried it out yet, so I don't know if this is good or not.
IBTL
You have to unplug the usb and pull the battery before the stock Rom boots, then go to recovery it should be cwm, then flash root zip
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
First, you should have put this in general or Q&A.
I had problems showing root after I applied the update as well. I flashed the previous version of superuser and then it worked. You have to make sure you uncheck auto reboot in Odin when flashing cwm v4. After complete, pull and replace battery and then try to boot into cwm.

1. Questions like this, in the future, beling in the Q & A section
2. You can root with the latest update > You need to flash the LATEST root method from team epic to prevent the stock recovery being reflashed upon boot
3. vol up + home + power = recovery menu ; vol down + home + power = download mode [odin]

I've been a member at this site since 07 I just don't post much because I tend to find my answers by searching, so I know the rules and regulations!!!!, it was a simple mistake of logging the thread in the wrong section, I got it the 1st time someone said it.
No wonder people are leaving this board and finding others, 2 many people here on their high horse like you guys never made a mistake.
for the rest of you who replied, thanks, I will try that and see what happens.
Relax man...no body scolded you, they were simply explaining that you posted in the wrong section. Posting in the wrong section can clutter up the sections when you have so many members posting and looking for answers. That should be very understandable to you since you have been a member for so long. But I will say that when YOU come back with nasty replies to people, which no one did to you, telling everyone that they are the reason people are leaving this site, then all that does is create animosity and start arguments. Had you simply replied something more civilized such as "sorry everyone, I posted this in the wrong section by mistake". I think that would have looked far better from a veteran lurker such as yourself. Oh yeah, and I doubt a few people leaving this site because of their attitude problems and inability to get along with others or take criticism, is hardly going to hurt the number of members that are STILL members of this site....LMAO
Now you say you usually don't post because you find your own answer by searching. Well, had you searched a little further, you would have found the thread that states "[HOW TO] Easiest Root and Recovery: SGS3 LTE Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, Rogers"...and in that thread you would have found two things...
1. the link to the correct method to root from the CM Team Epic
2. the reason why you need to use a special method to root after the new sprint update
Now before you come back at me with some hateful words or statements, step back from the computer, take a deep breath, realize you messed up, and continue on with your mission of finding the information by clicking the link I posted above and finally rooting your phone.
Goodluck rooting
Cheers!

As per the dev, Supercuriou, update tools like KIES/Odin for Samsung devices make it so OTA Root Keeper does not work. In fact, when you open up the app for the first time, you see:
Useless with Samsung phones updated via KIES or Odin

I guess this could change in the future, but for now this seems to be the case. See also the dev's thread here:

Not sure this app will work on the S3 since it didn't work on any other Galaxy S versions, but it can't hurt I suppose. :screwy:

Lets agree to disagree and move on because it only takes 1 person to say you posted something in the wrong thread, not 3+ to chime in after the 1st person.
As for the link you posted, I found that in my search after my initial post which worked.

Unless the latest update didn't break root the VooDoo root keeper is running on my phone currently. I installed it then did the update and still have root.

First off, I'm sure this has been answered before, but I can't find a place that addresses this specific scenario clearly. I apologize that I cannot spend enough time to wade through every thread.
My wife has the E4gT, got the update to ICS (4.0.4, FF18) about a week ago or so, and the phone has been laggy ever since. She is not now nor has she ever been rooted. It seems that a lot of people suggest a factory reset will likely fix most issues, but there's the specter of the eMMC bug out there. Her phone definitely has the bug.
So, with FF18 from the OTA, no root, will she be at risk of bricking her phone when doing a factory reset?
You're supposed to be OK with the factory reset, but the eMMC bricking code was actually found in the released code by the developers here and had to be removed!
I'd recommed using sfhub's one-click stock rooted (reset data if you want a total clearing) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229 this will give a fully stock phone with the only addition being root (which can be removed via his Autoroot Package too but why?). It will not trigger the 'yellow triangle' or increase you flash count and will safely reset/reformat the entire system.

Cool. Please post back so we all know how it went.
Whoops. Wrong thread. Sorry.
its sad this place has "developers" in the title
You know what, I have gone ahead and removed the guide. Not because of your (Radeon_X) input, but because the thread started with a discussion between the two of us that was unrelated to the topic
Not quite sure why you felt the need to react in a public forum like a teenager who discovered a keyboard for the first time. Regardless, it was pretty rude and a I really hope you dont respond in that fashion when discussing things in real life.
Anyway, I do believe you on the "thats what xda developers has come to" and I also believe you voicing your opinions as being the only factual process as one of the reasons this place is what it is. That being said, I am closing the door on what I once thought was a group of educated individuals, with reasonable intelligence, and a willingness to pass on knowledge and gain knowledge from others.
Hopefully those of you here that have knowledge and want a reasonable place to collaborate with others will piece together what I now know is wrong with this site and move on to build a forum of your own, where real DEVELOPERS can go, not just those who thrive on using what has already been developed.
-- delete thread --
So this only applies to Rogers? Also, does this have all the Google apps?

This "guide" is rediculous. If your goal is simply to flash CM10 and you don't care about tripping your flash counter you can start at the "flash clockwork" step 2. No need to flash stock rooted first.
On the other hand, if you don't want to trip your flash counter then you would have to install CWM recovery using the ADB method.
Interesting

As always, any input is greatly appreciated. With that said, thanks for providing input on the "guide" as you so kindly quoted it.
Please allow me a moment to provide you with the same generous input regarding your post. First off, the guide was made for those intelligent testers who have read as much material as possible on the subject/process prior to attempting it. In your case, I can see that this approach was not understood fully. So please allow me to provide you with some information regarding your flash counter tripping.
This method does in fact trip the flash counter from its default 0 to 1. A simple search would let you know of a tool called TriangleAway available for purchase in Google Play.
I understand some posts and articles warn you of the possibility that your device could be HARD BRICKED using this app, and that is a real possibility. In my personal experience however, the trip counter was reset to 0 by purchasing TriangleAway, allowing it to obtain root permissions and finally, by clicking the "Reset Trip Counter" option within the app. After a quick reboot once it had completed, it trip counter was back to 0 showing Official Binary.
Now for some additional advice to others who may use TriangleAway. If after you reset your trip counter, you are unable to connect to your mobile carrier. Power off the phone, wait 2 minutes, power it up, wait 2 minutes and then within settings select More... and from mobile networks choose Select Automatically.
I hope this is helpful to you or others who have a trip counter concern. Radeon_X, if you have more questions regarding my guide or elements of it, please PM me and I will be more than happy to help explain things a little better just for you.
For anyone looking to search within this form for radeon_x`s posts, remember to spell ridiculous as "rediculous".
I am new to the xda developers forum, but have been reading the posts for a few years. Please believe me when I tell you I have joined with a very stable foundation of knowledge in both web, and handheld development and marketing. I do wish to learn from you all and can only hope I can return the favor. I hope this post by radeon_x does not reflect the future of how my time here will be.
Moving on, I hope this guide is helpful and if not, please PM me and make me aware of how I might be able to improve it.

No. No one who has even read the most cursory information here would choose to do this. You randomly picked some things to do to your phone, that ultimately do end up with CM10 getting installed, but you've done a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff and tripped your flash counter in the process which is also completely unnecessary.
Your post pretty much sums up XDA nowadays though. Everyone's an expert even though they have no real concept of what's going on. It doesn't even sound like you yourself read the basic guides.
The more straightforward and safe way to install CM10 is to follow:
1) Follow steps 1, 2 and 3 from [HOWTO] [ROOT] No Tripping Flash Counter - [ATT / Bell / Telus / Rogers / Sasktel]
2) Download CM10 from http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=d2att to your phone
3) Download gapps from http://goo.im/gapps to your phone
4) Boot into recovery (from power off: hold vol up + home + power until Samsung logo appears)
5) [optional but highly recommended] Do a backup in CWM so you can easily revert to stock if you want to
6) Choose "wipe data/factory reset"
7) Choose "advanced -> wipe dalvik cache"
8) Choose install zip and install the CM10 zip
9) Choose install zip and install the gapps zip
But hey people, feel free to follow this rediculous guide instead. Rediculous I say. Rediculous.
Brokenbinary,
I just want to let you know that not everyone on this forum is rude and on power trips. I thank you for your findings and taking the time to share them with the community. Some people just haven't realized that with rooting there are more than one way to get a desired result, granted certain steps CANNOT be skipped or missed. I have been reading posts for awhile and could not help but thank you for your time and apologize for the bad reaction you got on here. Anyone who feels like they have gotten rude comments on here I just want to let you know that the majority of us here at xda are not like this, it's just the select few that ruin the image. What can you do about it? That's the world we live in.
Have a great week everyone and happy findings!

I got a SGS3 from Virgin Mobile Canada 2 days ago and tried to follow the guide here.
Since I use Linux or OSX I have no easy access to Odin. I couldn't get Heimdall to work either.
I did find a very nice guide that use a glitch on Android 4.0.4 and doesn't need to use Odin, so the counter is not increased/no triangle:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827518
For Step 5, instead of Clockworkmod recovery you can easily install TeamWin Recovery (which has a better touch UI) using GooManager on the store:
http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/104
I then installed cm10 and it's terribly good!

hey there
I can help you out. I am new as well but I was at least able to Root my phone.
What you want to do is find the Rogers Root file as well as download Odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
go there and download..
Rogers Image
Perm Mirror 1: Rogers I747MVLALH1 Download
Perm Mirror 2: Thanks to zaghy2zy!: Rogers I747MVLALH1 Download
Also download...
Second,
Extract the stock_root67.tar from the .7z file you downloaded.
Use Odin, put phone into download mode [with phone off, hold vol. down + home + power ], connect to computer and open Odin.
once in odin click the PDA field and select the stock_root67.tar you downloaded.
Leave Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checked.
click start and
when done let phone reboot.
If you have issues flashing with Odin please ensure you are using the microusb cable that came with the phone, users have had issues using other cables.
The word odin sends you a direct link
Follow those steps and your phone is rooted.
cheers,
click thanks!
