Did a search for this and only saw it posted in the nexus 7 area but this also works on our rooted galaxy nexus'. You can enable it without the need for a separate app by navigating to the build prop file in system and adding this line at the bottom and then reboot:
launcher.force_enable_rotation=true

Great tip, but does it work only with stock launcher?
I'm running nova launcher and I'd love this feature.

Sorry, I have not explained. I've already tried with nova and it doesn't work so i was asking if there is some method to make it work.
EDIT: I'm a real noob. I can do it from nova settings LoL
Nova Settings> Appearance> Screen Orientation> Auto Rotate
Worked like a charm.. Only issue i noticed is when its on landscape its no longer butter

thanks for this
Or you can type in ADB (after root) or in a shell (like terminal emulator):
Code:
echo "launcher.force_enable_rotation=true" >> /system/build.prop
If you want to go back:
Code:
sed -i 's/launcher.force_enable_rotation=true//g' build.prop
I know that is a old thread but if find it on google!
Auto Rotate Screen Verizon Galaxy Nexus
ADB? OK, I'll admit I am a noob to the max. Just got into this. I am using a Verizon Galaxy Nexus. I installed MMuzzy's Jellybean and now the home screens don't rotate to landscape. Which is what my phone is in 90% of the time since I use it for Navigation. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

It still does not auto-rotate for the Galaxy Nexus.

I don't know why, but I'm not able to save the changes made on the build.prop file.
I'm rooted, using RootExplorer, mounted as R/W, open the file in text editor, then save and exit. When I re-open the file, none of the changes seem to be there, is like they are not saved or the file is immediately re-generated.
Anyone has a solution?

Yup Yup, I almost **** myself last night thinking I got it all figured out. Then I tried to call the local time/weather hotline because it was colder than a mug & noticed I couldn't make a damned call. Good times.......
I got this too work with no problem. Once you download it, with root explorer copy the current contacts.apk and place it into a spare folder. Once done, rename the ics dialer so it shows Contacts.apk and then copy it. Navigate to /system/app and change to mount r/w, click paste. Select the ics contacts.apk and select install, agree to have it overwrite and then it may come back as not installed. Click home and you will notice your phone and contacts icons are gone. If you go into the app drawer you will see the ics apps. They function without any fc's for me so far

Well I followed your steps here and everything functions for the most part except when I try to make a call and then hit the phone icon to make the call, I always get a fc. It either doesn't recognize the key press as I don't see the phone icon light up green or it does light up green, the icon stay's lit then still get a fc.
Otherwise I can make call directlys from the contacts fine. Seems to be a issue with the phone button function as I can use all the other buttons fine on the keypad, text button works fine as well as the end, speed dials work too. Well, almost there anyway. I'm going to restore by backup contacts until this gets figured out, otherwise I'm pretty excited about the new look of the dialer.

Anyone get the tablet UI working on GSM GNex with Stock 4.0.2?
Tried a lot of DPI like 160, 180, 192 ... but System-UI crashes all the Time.
Had a lot of work getting my locked device to work again. Stock launcher closed direct after booting at 180 & 192. On 160 the launcher runs great but no nav. buttons appear.
Any ideas? I want a small Tablet!

That is the correct line to add to the build prop if you are not using AOKP. With AOKP you just need to close the nav bar in the power menu.
When you boot into a tablet density of 192 or lower you should get the Nav buttons on the bottom within the tablet bar.
On the CDMA versions, we needed to swap out the Phone APK with a WVGA phone APK in order for the phone not to close. Not sure if GSM is the same. The density's that worked were 192 - 185. 160 will force close the phone.
I haven't tried the tablet mod on stock though. I ran it on CM9, AOKP, and Axiom.
Also, I freeze the stock launcher with titanium and use Apex.
Okay.... I added this line and had no more nav bar, no buttons and no tablet bar! Nothing!
Phone works on 160, but no buttons! But 160 are also a little bit to small for me!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Use AOKP milestone 4 and change the DPI to 160. It has the tablet status bar, soft keys, etc. Even the notifications work the same way that tablets do!
If you want the phone app to work, it has been suggested to take the one from the Droid Incredible (just check the aokp downloads and take the phone apk from the droid incredible zip) and to push it to the phone via adb
I don't want to unlock and wipe my device if possible!

I just remembered you need to have root to use button savior anyway. I thought you wanted to get back to stock.
Why don't you just root your phone. It is so simple with this phone. The tool does it for you.
You can never win with a non rooted Nexus no matter what you are trying to accomplish. That is just the way it is.

Hi,
I got a question about enabling on screen buttons in OpenSEMC 0.5 running android 4.2.2, what is btw one of the best ROMS I've ever seen.
On AOKP 4.1.2 the option was integrated but the dev of this Rom haven't included it yet, so I need another way to get my loved on screen buttons.

App-Choose
OK,
I tried it and works fine.
But am I wrong or are the buttons bigger than on a Nexus 4 or Galaxy Nexus?
I think they are a little big too big
Another thing maybe somebody could help me with.
I have Google Now and Alicoid (like Siri but on Android) and with the latest version of Alicoid, you're able to put the App into I call it "long-home-button-press-menu" (idk how to call it. I'm German )
But in my case (idk if anybody else noticed that yet because Alicoid is not such a famous app) there is only a Search button (like in 1st Screenshot)
And after I selected that search-button the normal app-chose menu pops up (2nd screenshot) and let me choice between Gnow and Alicoid.
Maybe sb can say me if there is any possibility to get rid of this app-choser and to have both apps in the "long-home-button-press-menu".
I know my discription is a little cofusing put i hope somebody knows what i mean
Thanks!

Sorry, wrong post :S
This is a build of Launcher3 from AOSP corrected to properly display icons and folders in Landscape. "Properly" is a bit of a misnomer. I fixed it by reducing the size of icons for Flo. I think the correct fix is deeper than that, but haven't found that yet. Anyway, it doesn't cut icons off and works pretty well.
Things to know:
- This is the 4.4 Launcher, but it is not the GEL. There is no Google Now integration at all. (and the long-press Settings icon does nothing)
- The Quick Search Bar will not display after you switch to Landscape. Pressing Home while in Landscape makes it pop up.
UPDATE: The apk linked below is more current than the one attached. It's built with no minSdk restriction and should work on 4.2 or above. (It definitely needs 4.2)
http://www.mediafire.com/?4roil3438gbz6qk
Forgot to mention that this is built for minSdkVersion=19 (4.4) because that is what it's set to in AOSP. I don't actually know if that affects installing from an APK, but I can probably build it for 18 if anyone wants. That should work since it does for the GEL. (I know it needs 16 at least from things I noticed playing around in it)

There's a link to an APK with no version limitation in the OP. I've been told it doesn't install on CM 10.2, but I was able to install (but not run) it on my ICS phone. (I have no devices with JB installed currently.) And again, it does absolutely need 4.2.

Sorry. Not sure what was wrong with that apk. Updated the link with one which I'm 99% sure will work, and including it below. I tested this one on my Stock 4.3 N7 and it does work. (No transparency) There's no reason it shouldn't on 4.4. It's technically modded a bit, but that's all mostly broken and disabled in this build. I'll be releasing that soon.

Yeah but sometimes widgets and apps overlap the Google Search bar.
I for one rely on pie controls on this line of phones. Pie makes this big screen much easier to operate one handed.
Well the guys at coolace have implemented 4.4.4 functionality into their app so until we can get xposed running on here we have am alternative.

I normally use pie, although if you just want something more simple check out the side key panel in quick settings.

Just a few things you need to do.
1. Set Gesture Input to #8 (Samsung)
2. Clear Blacklist options in (Gestures, Pie)
For some reason LMT will blacklist some apps like in pie I use center for phone dialer but if you don't clear blacklist it hides dialer for example.
Went to the links provided, did not see links to download the apk file. ..any help greatly appreciated.
