Yup Yup, I almost **** myself last night thinking I got it all figured out. Then I tried to call the local time/weather hotline because it was colder than a mug & noticed I couldn't make a damned call. Good times.......
I got this too work with no problem. Once you download it, with root explorer copy the current contacts.apk and place it into a spare folder. Once done, rename the ics dialer so it shows Contacts.apk and then copy it. Navigate to /system/app and change to mount r/w, click paste. Select the ics contacts.apk and select install, agree to have it overwrite and then it may come back as not installed. Click home and you will notice your phone and contacts icons are gone. If you go into the app drawer you will see the ics apps. They function without any fc's for me so far

Well I followed your steps here and everything functions for the most part except when I try to make a call and then hit the phone icon to make the call, I always get a fc. It either doesn't recognize the key press as I don't see the phone icon light up green or it does light up green, the icon stay's lit then still get a fc.
Otherwise I can make call directlys from the contacts fine. Seems to be a issue with the phone button function as I can use all the other buttons fine on the keypad, text button works fine as well as the end, speed dials work too. Well, almost there anyway. I'm going to restore by backup contacts until this gets figured out, otherwise I'm pretty excited about the new look of the dialer.

i really dont have the time to go right at it. but i'll work on it slowly i guess
glad its working for everyone so far tho enjoy.
Looks GREAT! Any chance that this will work on the sgh-i727R? It's rooted but otherwise stock .

How do I pull the battery icon out of one theme and then place it in a different one? Thanks.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Copy and Paste
Open both zip files (do not extract), go to system>framework - open framework-res, go into res>drawable-hdpi - select the battery icons you want and copy them into your other zip in the exact same spot. They will overwrite the ones that are there. Save the zips and you should be good to go.
If the xml files of the battery you want to use are different then the ones in the theme you are using, it will not display properly, but if they are the same, you should be ok.
Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Is it possible to pull everything out of the theme other than the battery, and then flash just to battery on top of the current theme i'm using?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
In short, no... because you are replacing framework-res, it will replace all the images. The bestway to get the battery is to find one you like and copy and paste it to the theme zip.
If you were to remove all the other images and flash it, I imagine there would be a whole hot of problems.

Tell me which icon set you want into what theme you are using. It's not hard if you know what you are doing. I can do it for you once I have both sets of files. Will take about 10 mins if both framework's are the same. More problems if the charge icons 9,10 or 20 vs the 100 I use in my theme.
Holy crap, I actually did it, and it works... At least I think it does, I'll have to wait and see if I missed any...

"res" is the name of the directory inside of the apk. Open .xml files with something like Notepad++ and open .png files with Photoshop or GIMP. Of course you can just view them with the Windows Photo Viewer but that doesn't allow you to edit them very much at all.
EDIT: just saw the last reply was (from me I might add) in May lol. Thread necromancy at its finest

Actually there is what about 204 battery pngs to move on most 1% battery mods.
Take about a whole minute to highlight em all, and drag and drop them from one ROM zip to another ROM zip.
Make sure you grab all 204 or you will end up with a screwy looking charging animation or something else in the battery mod at some point

Yes they are all in the res/drawable-hdpi/ folder.
They will be named...
stat_sys_battery_xx.png (these are the non charging images)
stat_sys_battery_charge_animxx.png (these are the charging images)
Really wont matter if you grab the unknown battery image... Just make sure you have all the normal and charging images and you should be fine.

When you did this, did the Skin even show up for you to choose when you restarted? Another person was telling me they had that problem.
I'm running the RMK ROM debloated if that helps.

I just tried this on my phone, it seems to work as well. I just extracted the images from the drawable.* folders and replaced the ones inside of the Blackboard.apk (Renaming it didnt show up. Had to leave it the same name. I'm not exactly sure how to sign a skin and edit the rigth xml files yet lol)
DL this file, use root explorer to place in /system/app and give same permission, restart and then select it. The preview still shows Blackboard, but the skin is WarmZ
I think that should do it. deleted it twice and set it back in the /system/app and it works. Hit the thanks if so
EDIT: If I need to give thanks, thanks to Incubus from the DInc community for this skin. It's his work
Did not work. Thanks for the help man. Idk my phone doeant like it I guess. I've tried over and over. Makes no sense. Thanks anyway

Yea. It's because the clock widget itself has been skinned. After skinning them to match everything else, it looses the flip animation
REALLY wish it flipped.
I hope somebody can find a way to fix the flip clock.
-You need a xml editor for this. Something like Notepad++
-This mod is untested because I dont have the device at the moment.
-Make a backup of your current framework-res.apk and Systemui.apk files
-After 2 weeks I believe I found all of what I need for this MOD after going through the framework and Systemui of my Galaxy Nexus
-This did work on my Galaxy Note
-Please try at your own risk
How To
1. Decompile the framework-res
2. In the values folder you will find bools.xml
3. Open up the file and search for "config_showNavigationBar"
4. This should be false, change it to True
5. Open up the dimens.xml and search for "navigation_bar_height"
6. Change the value there to either one of these because im not sure how it would look (25, 30, 35)
7. Recompile your framework-res.apk
8. Extract or Decompile the systemui.apk
9. Navigate to the drawable-hdpi folder
10. Download these NavBar_Icons images and place them in that folder
11. Zip or Recompile the systemui.apk
(OPTIONAL)
After completing the above
Disable the light on the capacitive touch keys(Home-Back-Menu-Search)
1. Decompile the framework-res.apk
2. In the values folder you will find arrays.xml
3. Open that xml and search for "config_autobrightnessbacklightvalues"
4. Change all values to 0
5. Recompile the framework-res.apk
Thanks!

bump. i wanna see this mod get fixed... as crazy as it sounds, this is one of the features of ICS I've anticipated most... sad to see devs and "the man" cuttin' it out of their roms and overlays... Thanks for getting this started M&S!

I wrote this blindly...but I don't think its broken...most people are having trouble compiling...not actual errors on the device...I asked people to post error logs but no one has done it

I don't know why people want them now, since it looked like nobody wanted them like a month ago.

People have always wanted them. We were just pushed aside by those who think only their opinions matter. Its part of ics and actually a cool feature. Now those manufacturers making them hardware keys in their néw devices is just stupid. I can understand not wanting them on existing devices but new ones come on. What about the consumer

Sup M&S, I am goin to give this a shot, seeing as how I just fixed my apk manager. If I receive an error trying to compile, I will post the log.
Well, here it is... It worked but, is there a way to center the icons?

I have modded the secmms.apk and samsungcamera.apk using the guides linked below. I figured someone might want to use it or at least try it out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883192&highlight=option -- SamsungCamera.apk mod guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172543&page=1 -- SecMMS.apk mod guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2078703 -- supplemented this guide to the SecMMS.apk guide for different bubble styles!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2248185 -- Modded the Blue text mms app
So I will include a modded camera below with all of the changes made in that thread except for the take picture with volume button while recording video and capture photo while on call (I enabled this using the feature.xml in the csc folder).
I have also attached 2 versions of the secmms.apk, 1. with all of the mods in the guide made by Jovy, and 2. with the modified bubble types. (iPhone type and a blue type that I liked alot)
You can click the links above to see what the changes look like!
Just download and push using root explorer or whatever, (rename the mms with bubble to secmms.apk before pushing)
Then fix permissions (rw-r-r-)

Camera works great thanks! I'm using synergy which is a port so im guessing that's why the modded sms is FC'ing on me.. Just wondering tho does the modded sms with bubbles have the fb theme? It looks awesome!

Did not work for me I'm not sure if its because I'm using the T-999 stock rom. I dont know to do the mod myself & I have been trying to learn & do it for myself since 7 am, but is getting nowhere. Could do a mod from a copy of my own camera & sms apk or help me to do it for myself? I'm really tired of being a nube & dont really want to be a bother to anyone.

This is actually straight from the stock uvdljc rom. I'm sticking to straght stock myself. Did you fix permissions? steps below should work.
1. download
2. copy (don't paste anywhere yet)
3. go to system/app and rename original secmms.apk to secmms.apk.bak
4. paste modded version now
5. long press on apk and click fix permissions
6. fix permissions to match all the other apk's in this directory (trial and error or search for a pic of what it looks)
7. then see if the apk got installed you may reboot for good measure. (reboot not needed)
8. reply here stating that it worked

Ok. I did the reboot and all, but keep getting the same result as before.
Both files from my phone are attached here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bynq8mkng10qzsn/SamsungCamera.apk https://www.dropbox.com/s/xic703oar7aqvfh/SecMms.apk.
Here is my systemui.apk as well https://www.dropbox.com/s/hry7ea632zcdo73/SystemUI.apk.
Also I'm running build JRO03L.T999UVDLJC
Thank you very much.
Does the camcorder work for you guys? I hit record, it hangs for a bit, then a message pops on saying recording failed and the app closes. I installed it by renaming the original to samsungcamera.apk.bak or whatever, putting the new samsungcamera.apk in /system/app, fixing permissions, then reboot. Any suggestions?

Im using the same build and modded the messaging app from that same build. Still I'll look into doing the the one you gave me.
Are you deodexed? I think you have to be deodex for this mod, if not still take my modded mms.apk and put in settings/app and fix permissions. Then backup or delete the .odex file. That should fix it.

I'm really not sure if my phone has odexed or deodexed. I don't remember doing any dexing, but I will try this and give you feedback.
The stock rom comes dexed but people de odex so that it's easier to mod. If all you did was root then you may be dexed.

Oookay then. Thanks for the lesson in dexing. Man I really have much to learn. I did what you suggested & it seemed to be working this far.
