Hello all,
I kindly request some help regarding the following issue :
I have a rooted Galaxy Wonder GT-I8150, following the instructions on this site.
Firmware I8150XXLB4_I8150OJVLB1_I8150XXLB4
I used the phone normally for a long time. But when I woke up this morning, it was off and won't turn on no matter what method I tried.
No outside damages, no intervention, no newly installed software.
3-button-combo doesn't work. I cant put the phone into the recovery mode.
Odin doesn't recognize the phone.
Even when I connect the phone to the charger, nothing happens. The screen is black all the time.
When I connect to the computer with the usb cable, I get "device driver software was not successfully installed" qhsusb_dload
The problem is that I have important company documents stored on the phones memory, which unfortunately eliminates my
option of taking it to a Samsung Service point.
So, if I could please get any help to get the device working again, (or at least delete the company files on the phone) I would be really grateful.
So, friends, allow me to remind you NOT to put any confidential documents onto your phones' memory so that you won't have the troubles
I am experiencing now.
Looking forward to any suggestions you may have.
Regards.
have you tried installing SAMSUNG Kies on you PC? then uninstall it but do not uninstall the driver.. it may works
Ivan, I just tried your method, but sadly, the problem still persists. Thanks.
oh ok.. if like that you need a lot of experiment.. try in another computer.. Windows 7 or Vista recommended.. better don't use XP.. try changing USB port too.. move USB port to another that attached to the motherboard PC.. then if all doesn't works, pay for SAMSUNG service centre and they will fix it hehehe

Can any one help with this?
My Diamond has developed the short battery life/over heating problem, along with the USB connection having failed.
So I put the ROM back to the standard T-Mobile one via Wi-Fi to return for warranty repair.
However, I forgot to change the SPL back, so they are refusing to sort it.
My next thought was to get HTC to repair it, but thought I'd best stick the T-Mobile SPL back for good measure.
But the update failed (tried more than once) and I'm stuck on the bootloader with "Upgrade ROM Code Error, Please Try Again" and only "Serial" showing as a connection option, no USB (yes with a cable connected to a PC).
Is there anyway at all I can get to Internal Storage to try another update?
Thank you.
hello,
i had a similar problem. after flashin a buggy rom the diamond made a reboot and hang at the initializing screen. i tried a garanty repait but htc saw the spl and denys my garanty. so i started to ask google for help.
i got the device in bootloader mode, showing "serial". but i got no active sync connection. but after any tries i got the firmware update tool into "usb" mode and was able to flash. now my diamond is still alive.
maybe you have to play a bit to get it workin..
wish you luck..!
Try with another usb cable, computer. And explane me this
So I put the ROM back to the standard T-Mobile one via Wi-Fi to return for warranty repair.

How you can flash rom via wi-fi :S
I've tried 3 PCs and as many USB cables, it appears to be a hardware fault tied in with the overheating...
And sorry, I didn't explain very well regarding the Wi-Fi.
I simply used that as a file transfer method as I couldn't connect via USB. Saved the SPL as diamimg.nbh and did the Vol- + Back reset.
Understand now. Maybe usb connector is damaged by overheating or something else. I can't help you anything because diamond don't have microsd card - can't flash via microsd method
I connected my SG2 via USB cable to my PC and started seeing this error
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message."
I have tried everything from changing cables/PCs/enabling/disabling USB debugging to *#7284#, and none of them work ...
Is the device bricked, is there any hope of revival..please help i got this phone myself paying $400
Does your phone turn on and work and a connection to PC the only problem? If so your not bricked...you prolly need to install the drivers in order for your PC to recognize it so install kies on your PC
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
Yes phone turns on, charges through the port...just that it is not recognized by the PC....what could be wrong?
As I said previously you probably need to add the drivers on your PC install kies on your PC

Make sure you use one of your rear usb ports also. I had an issue with drivers installing in a front usb port.
Phew it turns out to be the samsung driver..I believe kies update must have corrupted and stopped the pc from recognizing the phone....

The definition of "bricked" is having a really expensive
... brick. It means your phone doesn't turn on no matter what you do to it (short of a JIG and that's not guaranteed) the "USB device not recognized thing" is a problem w many windows devices my vista computer does it all the time and I just switch ports.

Having same/similar issue
Hey, was there every a solution found for this?
I'm having basically the same problem...using the cable that came with my phone, and have installed Kies (fresh). I have tried toggling multiple settings. I tried uninstalling kies and reinstalling. I tried using pdanet for the driver. I have tried a few different roms, as well: Darkside 2.4, 2.5.1, and gingersnap 1.21. All have had the same result.
When I plug the phone in, it beeps (charging) but no notification for usb settings (disk drive, sync, etc). On my computer, it pops up "USB Device Not Recognized" and says the device has malfunctioned, etc, same as OP.
In Device Manager, it shows under USB as "Unknown Device".
I have tried this with two Windows 7 laptops, and a Windows Server 2008 R2 desktop. Also tried with a different cable. This cable was able to transfer data from an external hard drive today, so I doubt anything is wrong with it.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well I had the same problem with a new sgs2 i got witb the warranty. I even made a post about it. Tried everything and nothing fixed it. Had to do another warranty exchange
Sent from Flip's SGS2
Did you try the drivers separate first or Mtp mode
Sent from my revolutionized Samsung infuse
I tried without the drivers, and went to wireless and network > USB utilities. The only option in there, however, is "Connect storage to PC". If I try that, then plug it in, the phone acts like I hit the back/undo button. It doesn't show that anything is connected, nor does it give any other options. At this point on the computer, I get the "USB device not recognized" error.
This happened before installing Kies/Drivers, and still happens after installing drivers and kies.
try another usb cable
i had the exact same error, and it ended up being a good USB cable that went south
I will try a different cable when I get home - Have a month old cable for a mytouch 4g that I know works.
Okay, I tried it with the other cable, on a desktop in the rear port. same thing...Phone start to charge, and I get the error that the device malfunctioned, yada yada.
Any other ideas? Should I try to connect in Download mode?
Alrighty, so in the end, I ended up completely unroting, using terminal emulator to remove superuser.apk, busybox, and su and putting right back to read only. Then in CWM, flashed a stock 2.3.5 ROM (Zedomax). However, I now have the 2.3.5 ROM and the 2.3.6 KL1 Kernel...
I'm planning to return to Tmobile/Samsung - will the kernel and rom versions not matching be a huge red flag??
Any help is appreciated. I have tried to flash the 2.3.5 kernel, but I always get an error that it's not signed/verified.
Ideas?
I was hoping to grab the 2.3.6 OTA update, but it says there is no firmware update. Is there an update file I can put on the SD card and update using the stock recovery?
UPDATE:
I called T-Mobile Customer Service today, and went through the "troubleshooting" with them again. They ended up sending me a new one, overnight. They didn't ask anything about doing anything custom with it like rooting or other modifications.
I'm not sure if it made a difference, but I'm within 90 days, and also have the "best" insurance/warranty coverage through T-Mobile, and whoever their insurance provider is that I signed up for when I bought the phone.
Final charge is for $5, which I was told is some kind of fee from Samsung, but will appear on my bill.
Anyway, not too bad. Can't wait to get rid of touchwiz again when I get the new phone!

FYI, I just went through the same thing. Decided to finally root my phone after owning it for 2 weeks.
Phone nor the phone would recognize USB data, but would charge. Tried another cable and no luck.
Rebooted the phone. Works like a charm now.
Hello guys, just gonna state my problem and ask a few questions.
So, here it is. If I connect my phone to pc/laptop nothing happens, no notifs appear on my phone neither mtp or mass storage. But, when I connect my phone through electricity socket it charges up. Oh, another thing sometimes when I connect my phone to pc/laptop ports it charges up but still no connection to storage/or phone. This just happened last night after from my hospital duty and got home and tried to flash fxp128(love this work) and my phone wont be recognized at all.
So, I've searched up google not that deep but, I found some issues just like mine. Some said its a the laptop problem just need a restart, change cables, remove battery, try in different computer/laptop and etc cases like those. Alreadt tried everthing of those but non seems to work. So, i think my phone hardware(the usb port in my phone) is really the problem. My questions are:
It is repairable?
The repair fee costly or not?
Will this thing will likely come up again?(low chance/high chance of getting this problem again.)
PS: I remember that while on the hospital(free time) i tried to open the rom manager but it fc's when i try launching it.(everytime)
- and my 8gb type 4 sd is broken even through card reader it cant be read. ( dont know what caused this) so i change to class 2 4gb my spare card.
Hope you answer me guys, thank you!
tbh. your phone worked perfectly, and after flashing fxp128 you get problems and directly assume your phone is broken Instead of going back to stock and figure out if it really is.
Usb connection problem could also be caused by not having the com.sonyericsson.usbux "systemapp" or other things.

how can i go back to stock if my phone cant be detected in my computer? can't even go for fastboot and flashmode.
Did you make a NaNdroid back up with CWM? That would be your best bet at this point.

Did have a nandroid backup but on fxp 127. Tried to use it but still no luck. Any suggestions/ideas?
If you're using windows, try to uninstall the portable device at device manager window, while the usb is attached to your phone. Then disconnect the phone after you've uninstalled. After that reconnect it once more and see to it that the drivers are installed properly. It's usually USB mass storage or MTP USB device storage.
I was on stock and I was not able to connect this phone to my computer and access its files (it would not show up on my computer), so I decided to flash a custom ROM (MIUI), to see if that would fix the issue, and it still doesn't work... I have a nandroid of the stock ROM if it is necessary to go back, but I have all the drivers installed properly with debugging mode on, and i get a weird error in windows saying that "Hardware Id [is] Missing: Windows cannot identify the device plugged into the SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device. For assistance, contact the hardware manufacturer."
I'm really confused because I never had an issue like this with my GS2...
I would really appreciate help with this. Thanks in advance.

Ok, I will be out of the house until later tonight, I will try it then and post how it works out. Thanks!
Hello, I'm the new guy, kind of (I'm new to this forum but somewhat a technological handyman, so to speak).
I had recently obtained a Samsung Galaxy Ace II, everything was going good on the phone, hell, it's what? Two years old now? Anyway, I noticed the immense trouble I've been having trying to get several Windows PCs/laptops to detect anything from the phone, no driver updates, installations, not even from the trustworthy SAMSUNG Kies application. It is becoming a real problem as I really want to keep this phone, root it, installing several ROMs as I go along, but no, the computers won't even allow me to access the contents of my SD card through USB.
(Note: I have manually downloaded and installed SAMSUNG USB drivers and pooft, still nothing!)
I have tried quite a few methods to allow the PCs to establish a connection with the phone e.g. Dialing "*#7284#*, accessing "PhoneUtil", choosing "PDA" as the good mode, even switching to "MODEM" then back to "PDA"; Uninstalling/Reinstalling drivers; Attempting Kies.
I guess I am on the look out for a new-ish phone to replace this, which saddens me as I love being able to root, install various ROMs, Kernels etc, personally I like this phone too, more than my Spica running ICS (couldn't be too hard though, it wasn't stable whatsoever).
If anyone on this board could find a solution to this problem for me, I would be ever so grateful, I don't doubt it though, I love the work of XDA. Thank you.
Turn off the phone with no cable attached, press volume down, home and power at the same time and then volume up to put it in ODIN mode and connect it to the PC (use windows vista or newer so it auto installs the driver) It should install something like Samsung USB serial device. Tell if it works
Do I have to load it into ODIN mode whilst Odin is running on my PC?

For this test you dont need ODIN on the PC. Its only to see if the PC recognizes the phone

I just tested this and it appears not to be working, whatsoever. Is it necessary to have all SAMSUNG USB drivers installed on the PC?
Thank you for the idea, though. I just really want to root/mod my phone, ugh.

Windows should auto install the drivers. Connect the phone to the PC and see in device manager if there is something like an unknoen device or Samsung USB device

Thank you for the help, although my problem is not dealt with still. I have completed the steps that you had suggested, thoroughly and repeatedly, yet there is no hope for a permanent, or even temporary fix for my mobile.
Windows isn't displaying any correlation between my PC and phone, no driver software auto-installs and no sign of the device being located in the Device Manager, not even under an "Unknown device".
Is this a problem for most Ace II devices? Or am I missing something that is too obvious to consider so seriously?
Porobu once told me something like:
1. Uninstall kies and sammy usb drivers
2. Install kies again, it should promt to install USB drivers.
3. Plug in phone to pc in DL mode.
I'm not sure what you mean in your 1st post so im assuming you have yet to try this. Works for me
When do I plug the USB into the phone and boot my phone into download mode? As soon as the drivers are installed via Kies?

After kies installation complete(dont have to open), boot phone to download mode, connect to cable and plug to pc
It sounds like a broken microusb port but try something first.
Download ubuntu or any other live cd linux distro
Boot it on your pc. You dont need to install anything.
Open a terminal
*Plug the phone while it is turned on to the PC
Write in the terminal 'lsusb' without the quotes and press enter
Something like Samsung android device or MTP device should appear.
If it doesnt appear power off the phone and go to odin mode and repeat from the * the steps
