P930 at&t ICS (leaked version) problems. - LG Nitro HD

Earlier in the month I put the leaked version of AT&T ICS onto my Bell P930 (which leaked back in the spring sometime), only to find tons of bugs and a dip in battery life.
This is my first android device, and before putting ICS on it, I was really impressed with its performance.
I understand that ICS has officially been released by Bell and AT&T, so is there any way to get the leaked version of AT&T ICS off of my P930 and go back to my original Gingerbread software???(and then update to the actual Bell ICS)?
I am completely new to the Android system, and all the other threads about similar issues have given me dead ends.....anything helps
thanks

You can install the new release that just came out without having to go back to an older version. HOWEVER, if you aren't in a huge hurry, I'd recommend that you wait a few days for the Bell release to officially come out. Once it officially comes out, you will be able to install it by just running an application without any fuss (plus you'll get Bell's version which I imagine will have less bloatware than AT&T's version).
So, once it's officially releaed, you just need to make sure you have Windows USB drivers installed (if you already did it, you don't need to do it again), then install the Software Update program. Download links here: http://www.lg.com/ca_en/support/pro...p?customerModelCode=LGP930&initialTab=drivers
I don't think the update is available yet for Bell but you can try it.

You should wait for the official and then you can easily update. Or you could follow the unbricking guide and switch out the v10 kdz with the new v20. Or you could wait and see if there's a cwm version of the official ICS and follow the unbricking guide as is to get back to root amd cwm installed. Or you can unbrick, get root and cwm and install CM9 or CM10. I'd unbrick and get root/cwm. Then wait for a flashable/rooted version of the new leak. And in the mean time, install CM9 and CM10 and see what you think. Battery life on official is bad based on my first day. I'll be going back to CM10. This was just a novelty because I have two nitros.

[Q] What is the latest rooted stock ROM?

I've been waiting to run the latest version of the stock EVO ROM that would let me maintain root, but with so much going on I can't say I'm sure I know which one is the latest as of today.
Anyone care to point me to where I can get the latest fully functioning ROM (Froyo I believe) that will let me stay rooted, and has 4G and the radio running, etc.?
My phone is rooted now (UnRevoked3 and UnRevoked Forever)..and I'm backed up with Titanium Backup, so hopefully that sets me in good shape.
Thanks,
JTT
This is a link to the Rooted Odexed Version of the last official Sprint Update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743352
There is a non-official 'leaked' update that is also available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773444
Note about the leaked update -- it is a non-official update from HTC/Sprint. I haven't used it and unlike the last official sprint update cannot personally guarantee that everything works properly. Read the thread to make sure if you decide to flash it.
If you live in an area w/out 4G, flash Cyanogen 6.0...its the top ROM out there in my opinion (I use and I live in a 4G area).

[Q] how to unroot?

My p930 is rooted and running the latest CWM recovery and CM10 nightlies. The screen is broken and I 'll need to send it in for warranty/insurance claim. I've run a CWM backup, and transferred that to my PC. Now I need to return to stock/unroot.
This thread, along with other unroot threads, are kinda old. Is SOC > Unroot still the best method? Has anyone unrooted from 4.1/CM10? Are there any other known methods?

If all else fails you could use the LG update tool to update to official ICS... I personally don't know if there's an easier way.
On the broken screen thing, how much are you being charged to replace it? You can get the digitizer glass/frames on eBay for around $40-45. There is a nice guide on how to tear-down the phone floating around the general forum which I have used three times so far : But it's pretty easy to do and would save you some time of being without your phone... and save you the hassle of having to unroot and all.

Best thing to do now is just update using the official LG updater to ICS from download mode. If it refuses to install for any reason, flash the V18f ICS update first.
I'm also wanting to go back to the stock ICS on my optimus LTE. I'm just not 100% sure what I should flash first. Currently if I connect the phone to the LG mobile software it says that my phone is already up to date. Where would I be able to get a V18F ICS update? And also once I've done that will I be able to point the LG software to Telus I don't remember since it's been so long since I upgraded my phone.

Then you should be able to follow the unbrick guide to downgrade to GB, and instead flashing CWM and carrying on from there, try to use the LG updater while on stock GB.

The v18f version is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668476
The nice thing about this is that this exe will flash no matter what ROM you currently have installed. Then, after installing this, the official updater will recognize your phone as out of date and will allow you to flash to the official v20c update easily.
Seems to want to update to V10J and that's about it, never get's to V20E. Also after the update it just stays at the Telus splash screen.
I was able to load the ATT V18F no problem and then get to the point where the LG software wants to update but that's where it end unfortunately.
Guess I'll keep trying and see how it goes.

Oh, that's actually fine. You just need to do one more thing: after you get stuck on the splash screen, pull the battery and put it back in. Then hold down volume down + power button to turn the phone on (same way you access CWM if you have it installed). Then press power button twice to confirm and your phone will reboot after a little bit and should work fine from there.
HOWEVER, if it's not even the version you want, then that doesn't help you much. What version of the phone do you have? P935 from Telus?

[Q] 4.0.4 questions

I just bought the phone yesterday from Verizon. It's all stock. I'm running 4.0.2, but I was wondering if 4.0.4 is out for everyone? I haven't received any update about it on the phone. Checking for updates just says I'm up to date. Do I need to manually update it, or just wait for it to hit me? How long should I wait?
If I decide not to wait, I have to unlock and root my phone, correct? And then download and install 4.0.4 (IMM76I) "yakju" from Goggle's Nexus factory images page? or do I need "mysid IMM76K from ICL53F" for toro from the "Official Google OTA Update URLs" thread on these forums?
I'm just concerned because I ran into some battery issues already (phone was completely dead when I woke up this morning. was at 90% when I went to bed. About 7 or 8 hours) and I read 4.0.4 fixes some of the battery issues. I've also changed some settings to limit battery draining. I believe it's working.
Root and Unlock using GNex TOOLKIT V6.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
then install a custom rom should also fix your battery issue
4.0.2 its really buggy.. If you are rooted and unlocked try some custom rom?
Stock 4.0.4 has loads of improvement, great battery, great performance, camera quality fix, etc..
If you want stock image, download from Google official site and flash it via fastboot, and then reroot

No, I'm not rooted or anything at all. I planned to root later when I got use the phone. I'm pretty new to this root stuff, but want to explore it. I've already been doing lots of research.
But it seems the vote is to go ahead and unlock, root, get 4.0.4 and get a custom rom/kernel. lol Instead of waiting to get the 4.0.4 through Verizon, I should get it myself manually. I was wondering if I should just wait or not.
Is yakju the version I want or toro?

Thank you! I just have another question before I decide to flash 4.0.4 to my device.
4.0.4 was pulled from google servers, but is available at Random Phantasmagoria. Though, RP says it's not recommended to flash the 4.0.4 IMM76K update. Would you agree? I haven't seen anyone say that version has given problems with all the reading I've done, so I imagine it's fine. Just double checking. I think most people have to be on 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 to get certain kernels and such to work.

Well I was using the IMM76K version til yesterday with CM9 and it was fine, its been upgraded to IMM76I in the latest nightly.
All kernels work with 4.0.3/4.0.4
I don't think you'll have any problems as long as you download the right firmware for your model. Don't flash the GSM firmware on a cdma phone.

Yet another ICS update Question

I've been casually reading through most of the ICS threads being posted as of late but I have found that none of them hardly touch on the connection between the UVLDE, custom GB, and custom ICS.
Lots of stuff are being said that UVLDE is going to be needed for official ICS, but does that imply that it will also be a stepping stone needed for custom ICS built roms? I don't plan on switching over to stock just to avoid the supposed bricking the ICS will bring without installing UVLDE first. I am seeing a lot of people fine with installing leaked ICS builds, so I don't see why UVLDE would matter. When ICS source finally drops and we get some good builds going, can we just go directly from custom GB to custom ICS?
The tl;dr version of it all is.. will I have to do this:
Custom GB -> stock GB (UVLDE) -> stock ICS -> Custom ICS.
Or can I just simply go:
Custom GB -> Custom ICS.

What I think its all TMobile drama. They needed 2 more weeks to finalize stuff so they throw something and bought more time

You can choose to not listen and do whatever you want. If you have insurance then you have nothing to worry about.
Some peoples phones ended up being bricked eventually running TDJ 's ICS ROM or some of the leaks. I've seen more than one thread opened reporting this. I think they may have been deleted or closed eventually. I think some phones came with different rev of boards or chips and something with the drivers and ICS is causing the bricks. Don't quote me on this because i'm not 100% of what the issue is.
My phone started acting up after a while running on the ICS leaks. No matter which one I was on. So I went ahead and did the GB stock update and planning to stay till the official update.
Maybe the awesome DEV's can implement whatever the update is supposed to do in their ICS ROMs.

The ota update that TMobile was going to roll out was bricking phones. If you use kies to update you will be fine. If you use a custom ROM, you well be fine. It was only for ota (over the air) update. Where you get a message saying an update us ready, download now. If you don't do that you could be running froyo and you will be fine.

The major thing is upgrade path.
As long as you're not using Kies or the OTA update to flash the official ICS update you can skip UVLDE since the Official ICS update includes the UVLDE components that prevent bricking. When you use Kies to flash pre-UVLDE systems with the official ICS ROM, everything is not replaced on the existing system and that is what causes the brick.
Custom ICS ROMs that are released post-Samsung-Carrier-Official ICS releases may include whatever component in UVLDE prevents bricking. Just be sure to read the documentation for those ROMs carefully so you know if it is a pre-release base or official release base.
So...
pre-UVLDE-ROM --->Kies/OTA --->Official ICS = Brick
any ROM --->ODIN/CWM --->Official ICS/Official ICS Based ROM = Fine
There may be extra brick possibilities with certain earlier builds of the T989. There's an app to test for that. Haven't read up on all that part of it yet. There's hundreds of pages of posts about this and I just found out about it yesterday.
I believe it's something like this - earlier T989s have a defective or problematic EMMC component and whatever patches were made to pre-release official Samsung ROMs caused those phones to brick or something when they were flashed. They patched whatever caused that in UVLDE and that fix is also present in the official release. They tested 20 handsets - 16 with UVLDE and 4 without (numbers may be off). All the handsets without UVLDE bricked on update to the official pre-release ICS.
I don't thinkthe kies update will require it. It does a full "emergency" restore/install of the new software. It will come with the drivers that were causing the issue. I believe the problem was only with the ota update.

What if I installed ICS leak and then official ICS released?

Hey guys.
I am thinking about installing ICS leak but what if official ICS release afterward?
The OS will be exactly same so I do not need to do anything?
or I still need to upgrade or something to be an official version?
if so, there is no problem while upgrading? (leak -> official) no crash?
Thank you!
In my opinion, it could be a problem. I seriously doubt the official release will use an exe file to update the phone, like the leak used. Therefore, the official updating process through OTA or the LG Support Tool might not work.
Of course people will say you just have to unbrick it to the stock V10f ROM. Problem is, when I did that, the OTA update process nor the LG Support Tool would update my phone. Something broke it. I even unrooted it, but no dice. I kept getting a notice for an OTA update, but the install would always fail at 2%. When I used the support tool that I got straight from the LG website, it kept telling me my phone was up to date.
Fortunately I was still in my 30 day trial and I was having hardware issues with it (normal temps of 110°F and basically no battery life). I only installed the leak in the hopes that it would fix it, but it didn't. Even going back to V10f didn't help. My new phone runs great, so I'm waiting for the official ROM.
You guys know any plan for the official?
The official for Korean Nitro was already released in this month.
