Hey guys.
I am thinking about installing ICS leak but what if official ICS release afterward?
The OS will be exactly same so I do not need to do anything?
or I still need to upgrade or something to be an official version?
if so, there is no problem while upgrading? (leak -> official) no crash?
Thank you!
In my opinion, it could be a problem. I seriously doubt the official release will use an exe file to update the phone, like the leak used. Therefore, the official updating process through OTA or the LG Support Tool might not work.
Of course people will say you just have to unbrick it to the stock V10f ROM. Problem is, when I did that, the OTA update process nor the LG Support Tool would update my phone. Something broke it. I even unrooted it, but no dice. I kept getting a notice for an OTA update, but the install would always fail at 2%. When I used the support tool that I got straight from the LG website, it kept telling me my phone was up to date.
Fortunately I was still in my 30 day trial and I was having hardware issues with it (normal temps of 110°F and basically no battery life). I only installed the leak in the hopes that it would fix it, but it didn't. Even going back to V10f didn't help. My new phone runs great, so I'm waiting for the official ROM.
You guys know any plan for the official?
The official for Korean Nitro was already released in this month.

Earlier in the month I put the leaked version of AT&T ICS onto my Bell P930 (which leaked back in the spring sometime), only to find tons of bugs and a dip in battery life.
This is my first android device, and before putting ICS on it, I was really impressed with its performance.
I understand that ICS has officially been released by Bell and AT&T, so is there any way to get the leaked version of AT&T ICS off of my P930 and go back to my original Gingerbread software???(and then update to the actual Bell ICS)?
I am completely new to the Android system, and all the other threads about similar issues have given me dead ends.....anything helps
thanks
You can install the new release that just came out without having to go back to an older version. HOWEVER, if you aren't in a huge hurry, I'd recommend that you wait a few days for the Bell release to officially come out. Once it officially comes out, you will be able to install it by just running an application without any fuss (plus you'll get Bell's version which I imagine will have less bloatware than AT&T's version).
So, once it's officially releaed, you just need to make sure you have Windows USB drivers installed (if you already did it, you don't need to do it again), then install the Software Update program. Download links here: http://www.lg.com/ca_en/support/pro...p?customerModelCode=LGP930&initialTab=drivers
I don't think the update is available yet for Bell but you can try it.
You should wait for the official and then you can easily update. Or you could follow the unbricking guide and switch out the v10 kdz with the new v20. Or you could wait and see if there's a cwm version of the official ICS and follow the unbricking guide as is to get back to root amd cwm installed. Or you can unbrick, get root and cwm and install CM9 or CM10. I'd unbrick and get root/cwm. Then wait for a flashable/rooted version of the new leak. And in the mean time, install CM9 and CM10 and see what you think. Battery life on official is bad based on my first day. I'll be going back to CM10. This was just a novelty because I have two nitros.

i have a GSM Galaxy Nexus and i'm rooted running the Thunderstick soft and chewy 4.1.1 rom. much to my surprise today my phone received an over the air update asking me to install 4.1.2 ; first of all, i didn't know a non stock custom rom could receive an ota update and i've been rooted on custom roms now since the beginning of ics and my phone has NEVER once ever before received an ota. especially now given that i'm already on a 4.1.1 and i got an ota update asking me to go to 4.1.2; so pretty surprised to put it mildly.
secondly i have GNofficial update app which tells me that my phone is either updated by google or not updated by google which i've found to be depending on what rom i'm using and currently my thunderstick rom makes it say i'm not updated by google. even if i wasn't rooted i never thought i would be updated by google anyway since i'm in canada not the united states and on some little ****ty carrier called Mobilicity. the last thing i ever expected was to receive an ota update. who sent it? Mobilicity? Google? i don't even have a clue where exactly this ota update is coming from. am i to believe that my galaxy nexus which came with android 4.0.1 originally out of the box and has never once before ever received an ota update would suddenly send me 4.1.2? so to re-cap that means if i had never rooted i would still have been at 4.0.1 and suddenly be getting 4.1.2 and in Canada and on Mobilicity of all things. so i'm super confused but that's not even my real question.
what i'd like to know is what will this update do to me? will it bring me from this beautiful exquisite custom thunderstick soft and chewy 4.1.1 to the STOCK 4.1.2??? and unroot me? it wont stop pestering me about it either, it just keeps prompting me do go for it! i checked on rom manager and there isn't a thunderstick 4.1.2 yet. mostly i'm very confused at even receiving it and that it keeps prompting me as if i have to do it or it wont go away. i could just imagine me doing it and then it sucking cause it's stock and not like thunderstick's soft and chewy which i've fallen in love with and then me going to the trouble of re-rooting and re-flashing thunderstick and then probably receiving the damn OTA all over again! has anyone else had this happen? why am i receiving a stock ota update when i'm already not even running stock?
is there a way i can make it stop asking me to install the ota update? can i make it stop appearing in the notification?
So I found out that I have Jelly Bean sitting in my queue for a OTA update. Went to install it but I cannot because I am rooted. I have scoured the internet to find out the best method of getting this update on my phone but have been successful in truly finding a solution. I am new to the android platform and just got my SGS3 a few weeks ago.
Not sure if I should unroot my phone first (looks like I just flash ICS back on to my phone to remove root?) or if there is a version of the official OTA release floating around that I could use to flash over without need of unrooting.
I have spent 2 days searching the internet, reading these forums, and watching youtue videos but I still do not have a clear understanding for what I am asking which is why I have posted.
I understand new software sometimes has a waiting period before you are able to update it with hacked system.. is that what we are in right now? Waiting for the proper resources to be updated to allow this update?
Thanks!
you can go into your superuser app and unroot but im pretty sure it is not a jb ota
More than likely, it's just the LH9 firmware update. Still ICS,and not JB. IF you want the update, there is a thread that has it as flashable zips.

oh ok, i see the leak but I was hoping to use an official release so it was "100%" functional. I guess I will wait. Thanks for the helpful response!
Hello there !
New to XDA (been reading threads over 2 years though), I got my unbranded LG G3 (D855) about 2 months ago with firmware 10A.
I received OTA 10E at the end of July but did not apply it immediately as I'm rooted and have to use PC Suite to update.
However, i updated on 12th August and right after the instalation, the phone gave me a new OTA : 10G, released on 27th July...
So I'd like to know if it's possible to skip an update or if I have to take all of them every time ? Seems pretty strange though...
I read that 10G was not a top update so I'll pass on this one, but will I eventually get 10H or 10J without being on 10G ?
Thanks !
You can jump around as you wish. Back and forward, oldest to newest, makes no difference.
When you flash a firmware, the /system partition (as well as modems etc) is wiped by the flashing process, so updates are not cumulative.
Yeah i know that i can flash kdz directly, what i wanted to know was if OTA updates showed up only once you are on the version just before the new one ? Because i can do the official via pc suite without any issue, just having to root again, no big deal !
But also, wiping everything is not an obligation, right ? If you don't use CSE flash...
Hi
I can't update my LG G3 D855.
Two days ago, my phone started downloading the new software update (v21a-OCT-2015).
Once downloaded, I am asked to install it. But instead of starting the installation, the phone restarts... and doesn't install anything after restarting.
I tried to re-download/install the software a few times but it didn't work.
What can I do about that?
Is there a magic setting to solve this issue?
Thanks
Dont update when rooted u will brick thats the fundemetal rule of rooting

Its not an issue, its normal.
Its blocking update because it could brick your phone.
If you really want to update, you need to flash the kdz.

OK. I was not aware of that. I am not an expert.
So better wait for Android 6 if I really want to update the software and then reroot it again.
Thanks
Yes. Ive not looked into marsh yet but keep in mind i dont know how readily root and custom recovery will be available best thing to do is wait for mm and then wait for someone to make a prerooted custom rom for it i never jump on the upgrade wagon i wait for everyone else to so i can see how easy it will be. honestly i didnt update to lolipop til about a month ago just cause of the bugs.
