So I just recently got my GN with VZW and put JB on it, is there anyway yet I can put Google Wallet on it? Thanks
Not quite sure why you're even asking. Install the apk.
If you can't find it in the Play Store, simply download it from the thermes and apps forum and install it just as you would anything else.

I can't seem to find YouTube in the market and manually installing also failed.
Any solutions? Am I the only one?
Never mind. Got it installed now using the YouTube.apk from Defrost 6.1.
If anyone has the same problem, I'll gladly upload it.
Since you're rooted, just get Market enabler, set it to T-mobile US and install whatever you want.

Thanks, that worked, I've downloaded it from the market again.
Do you know why I have to use Market Enabler now?
I used to find it in the market without doing anything else.
No idea, maybe they've pulled it for your country. Im using Market Enabler since august 2010, so I usually don't even know, whats available locally or not. If its out in US, I can have it :]
Youtube works.
Hey everyone,
Im relatively confused about this phone since there are so many threads that are for the other versions(VZW/Sprint/Intnl).
What Im looking for is any help(direction?) as to what I should do first on my Nexus that I ordered from Google Play.
What is the first thing I should do(root or unlock bootloader?) and what should I download(Roms or kernals?). Any links to said advice would be much appreciated also.
Many thanks in advance.
Put sim in . Then battery then back cover . Then best of all turn it on

Thank you for the obvious and the laugh. However, I really am looking to get past the two weeks of thread reading, and get guidance from those who have this Google Play version with working roms and stuff.
unlock the bootloader, you can decide to root or flash whatever later. unlocking the bootloader does a factory reset which is why you want to do it before you do any setup or add anything to the phone

Ok, now I saw this, and I might sound newbish here, but the title of that thread is for the VZA/Sprint/GSM versions of the phone. To my understanding, even the unlocked GSM version originally sold is not the same as the current one in the Google Play store.
If the link above will work for all the phones including mine then that is what I was looking for.

Lucky for you even if u unlock the boot loader after u sign in and sync all ur stuff your data won't be erased... something about the Takju version that allows users to unlock boot loader without wiping any data =P

It will work. Yours is still GSM, yakju, takju, yakjuux, whatever. Its still GSM.
first thing you should is jump up and down, and pat yourself on the back for being tied to your carrier for a phone upgrade
I would unlock the bootloader before anything else...
Then if you're feeling brave (and before you start configuring the device to your liking) flash a third-party ROM based on 4.0.3/4 (The most recent ICS versions):
l'd recommended Cyanogenmod 9 nightlies if you like to be on the bleeding edge (Although you might have to get used to flashing EVERY day, which isn't so bad once you get used to it)
Or, moving to something like LiquidSmooth (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555667)
or
EaglesBlood ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1388728).
Each of which will bring different things to the table, you'll have to do your research as to which one you'd like if you go that way.
Alternatively, just stay on stock ROM and enjoy your phone the way they intended you to...
^ Thank you for that. I was actually confused as to what order Im supposed to do things(root, unlock bootloader...Rom...Kernal??)
Ive seen a lot of positive reviews for an AOKP rom and a Frances(?) Kernal. Anyone agree they make a good match?

You unlock the bootloader first because it wipes your phone, SD card as well.
Flash clockwork mod recovery.
Flash a custom rom and kernel.
Sorted.
The guide I wrote (previously linked) details how you can also back up your applications (not that you'll really have any to begin with...but if you decide to wait) without root.
Then unlock and restore...and backup again with titanium for all future restorations.

This is true and if you use the toolkit i linked below you will need to know that your phone is specifically the takju or its also labeled as the gsm version with google wallet

Hi everyone,
My Galaxy Nexus decided to factory reset itself for no apparent reason. Since everything has vanished into the ether (apart from the Google play list of apps which I'll apparently have to re-download and my contacts list) I thought it might be a good idea to upgrade from Jellybean 4.1.2 to 4.3.
I've used NRT to back up the contact list (no messages or photos are left) and my apps are on the Cloud (at least they say I need to install them when I go through the play store) .
I've had a look around the forums for guides (I generally try to RTFM before I ask for help) but I'm rather confused.
Is there a specific guide that will give me step-by-step instructions on how to upgrade from 4.1.2 to 4.3? I've had a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312 but because I'm a complete and utter n00b I don't know whether or not it's the right procedure.
Help please!
Thanks,
Kat.

First, read a bunch on this topic. This guide right here will walk you through rooting and upgrading your OS: http://galaxynexusroot.com/. Here is more info: http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Samsung_Galaxy_Nexus_(toro)
Also, not sure which version of the gnex you have. but if you have the american verizon version (toro), this guide will walk you through step by step and includes all the files for a basic vanilla version of 4.3: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36706-romaosp431101113-shiny-ota-like-stock-android-431-jls36i-no-bugs/
Once you install one rom, you can install any. Some of the more popular are cyanogenmod and aokp.
Basically what you are going to do is unlock your phone, install a back up program like clockworkmod, then install a new operating system (rom), gapps (google apps like gmail), and update your radios to 4.2. These guides should walk you through. Its actually pretty easy on the gnex.
Also as for backup, i personally use mybackup and others like titaniumbackup. I think titanium requires root but mybackup does not. Google also should update your contacts/apps for you automatically.
Thank you so much!

From reading this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728555 I believe I have the GSM yakjudv - Variant for Australia.
I'm pretty sure my phone is an i950t (I can't check right now because it appears to be downloading something in Odin mode and I don't want to touch it).
Will this work with the Verizon guide?
Thanks again

I would find a guide for your specific phone. I would not try out the verizon gnex tutorial.

Would you happen to know how I could find out which phone I have? I've googled some apps that are supposed to tell you but they don't exist anymore.
Under the settings I have build number: JZO54K.I9250TDVL2
Or should I just wait for KitKat (and will they be doing a rollout for my nexus anyway)?
Thanks,

Its either sprint, verizon, or gsm. If you do not have sprint or verizon as your carrier and you are out of the US its the GSM version.
Toolkit
I'd experienced the same thing as you..you can just use toolkit..easy..you just need to understand it..some of the toolkit might already updated to android 4.3 factory images already..if not,you can simply download the factory images by yourself and put it on the necessary folder and...bamm..flash it via the toolkit..there are many toolkit outthere..just search it for device anyway..
Regards.
upgrade my HKC Tablet from 4.1.1 to 4.3
Anyone can help?
I used Voodoo OTA a few times on 4.2 but evidently it no longer works on 4.3/4.4.
Did some searches and couldn't find anything so figured i'd ask and see if anyone knows of a way, either through a on device app, toolkit, or anything to do a temp unroot.
It's not something i need often, but flixster and all my ultraviolet copies won't play if rooted.
Did you find anything useful ?

If you have the xposed framework installed you can use this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2574647
It has been reported working with flixster.
I guess an alternative could be to use multirom, and just keep an unrooted ROM in it, then you can just reboot into the unrooted ROM when necessary. That seems kind excessive tho lol.
Good luck, I hate that some developers Intentionality make there apps incompatible with rooted devices.
Hey guys been searching and trying everything here on XDA to get my ION to work with ISIS. I got Xposed installed, downloaded play store fixes to be "able to see" ISIS in market. Well i couldnt so I downloaded and apk. FINE... Then 90% thru the ISIS process, it stated that my phone wasnt compatible... Im just curious, did anybody get it to work for our ION? It should be compatible since we have NCF right? Any help is appreciated Thanks!!!
BTW
I have ROM 6.2.b.0.211 with lt28h model radio
